Crabapple that I got at Walmart today. The birds have perched in it already. It will take awhile for shade but I like it. The Spirea I planted last week. Tulips which usually get eaten by the deer. I haven't seen them open yet it's been to cold. Primrose Brunnera starting to bloom. What's blooming in your yard this week?

A visit to coastal MA, RI , and ME in May '24 and witnessing the tulips and daffodils inspired me.
I bought 40 daffodil bulbs and 10 tulip bulbs. Following the directions, I refrigerated them til the recommended time for planting. I had 6, less than spectacular tulip blooms and a couple of daffodil blooms. No tulips came up this spring and only the one daffodil came back. Some things are just not meant to be.

PSA plant tulips in your native flower beds
They will bloom and disappear before your natives pop up and make the neighbors painfully aware that it's all intentional. It usually looks like a tall mess all year round but once in spring it looks intentional ;) I know they aren't native and yea I could plant spring blooming natives but I like to mix a few ornamentals in there to keep nosy neighbors out of my business. Bonus pics of my front front flower bed last year included. Will update when my backyard babies bloom. submitted by /u/CeilingStanSupremacy to r/NoLawns [link] [comments]

Someone cut the bulbs off a patch of tulips in our shared garden
Someone cut like 15-20 bulbs off, right before they were about to bloom. We only have 3 small patches of tulips in the “garden” so this was really sad to see this morning. The saddest part is they only cut the bulbs? I’d understand if they were using them for a bouquet but they didn’t even take the stems. Is this somehow important for the plants future growth and I just don’t understand gardening? Only one patch was cut out of 3, so I’m confused if this was for a specific reason why they wouldn’t have cut the others. submitted by /u/MsA11y to r/mildlyinfuriating [link] [comments]

Saved Tulips from the trash today, do they stand a chance?
Found over 80 containers of red and yellow tulips being thrown out with the garbage truck on the way. I live in zone 7a/b NJ, immediately got to work getting them in the ground and watered. Our yard came with virtually no plants so I’m learning as I go, will they come back in bloom this summer ? Or if they even will come back probably won’t be until next year right ? Is it better for the bulbs if I cut back the greenery or leave it be? submitted by /u/Prestigious-Stuff831 to r/gardening [link] [comments]

I planted 800+ tulip bulbs last spring and 20 or so came up 😭
A ‘once in a lifetime’ event decides to show up and mess with me. An early heavy, deep snowfall prevented the ground from freezing all winter and thus my tulips had no chance. I just finished planting another batch but could not bring myself to replant what I have done already. I know there’s little hope, but I can’t help but think they might have a second chance and I hope to see them this spring. Edit: I planted them last fall, not spring submitted by /u/never___nude to r/gardening [link] [comments]
