How has Vitamin D3 changed your life?
I have been put on once a week vitamin D3 due to deficiency. It has been prescribed to me by both my psychiatrist (for depression) in the past and now dermatologist (for eczema). I have always thought how having sufficient Vitamin D3 would rid off 99% of my problems. So I’m curious, those who took the supplements and is healthy now, how has it changed your life? submitted by /u/BasicLushThings to r/Supplements [link] [comments]

Finally fixed my slow gut motility. The answer? Vitamin D3
I’ve struggled with slow gut motility/constipation for a while, but I recently started a new supplement: 5000 IU of Vitamin D3 with 100mcg of MK-7 (Vitamin K2). I originally started it to help with systemic inflammation, but the "side effect" has been life-changing: I’m now having 3–4 healthy bowel movements a day. It feels like my system finally "turned on." I did some digging into why this works, and it turns out the gut-brain-vitamin connection is huge. Here is the breakdown: The Serotonin Connection We usually think of serotonin for mood, but 95% of it is made in the gut where it’s responsible for triggering the "waves" (peristalsis) that move waste through. Vitamin D helps activate the gene that converts tryptophan into serotonin. No Vit D = low gut serotonin = sluggish pipes. Vitamin D Receptors (VDR) in the Colon Our entire GI tract is lined with Vitamin D receptors. Research shows that Vitamin D is essential for the "tone" and contraction of the smooth muscles in the colon. When you're deficient, your colon can literally become "lazy." Why the K2 (MK-7) Matters I'm taking my D3 with MK-7. While the D3 handles the gut motility and calcium absorption, the K2 ensures that calcium actually gets directed to the bones and doesn't build up in the soft tissues. It’s the perfect "safety" pairing for a higher dose like 5000 IU. Anti-Inflammatory & Barrier Health Vitamin D strengthens the "tight junctions" in your gut lining and lowers inflammation. When your gut isn't inflamed, it moves much more efficiently. TL;DR: Vitamin D3 + K2 isn't just for bones; it’s basically WD-40 for your digestive tract. It boosts gut serotonin and activates the muscle receptors in the colon to keep things moving. Vitamin D3 didn’t cure my depression or raise my testosterone, it cured my ability to sleep
So since 2023 I’ve been mega-dosing ViteminD3 like a fool. I ignorantly thought (more=better) I was taking 30,000 IU day sometimes (that’s about 7–15x the typical recommended daily amount for adults). for the past 2 years, my sleep has basically been murdered. It took forever to fall asleep, I felt wired at night like my brain refused to shut off. my “Sleep window” was super short (if I missed it, good luck) If I fell asleep late, I’d wake up after 3–4 hours and be instantly awake Weird part Im not even groggy when I wake up. I’m just like “I’m awake.” over time it wasn’t just sleep either my motivation/reward system felt like it got turned down to 0 less enjoyment in music/games/videos libido tanked hard. vitamin D is supposed to help sleep/mood/testosterone, but for me it felt like it did the opposite. never made the connection until recently, but I noticed every time I took a big dose again (like 10k20k+), I’d get insomnia sometimes. If you’re taking vitamin D like normal, you’re probably fine. But if you’re mega-dosing it like like i was then I would say definitely stop or don't. At least without doing bloodwork or talking to your doctor first. I’m stopping D3 completely for a while and sticking to sunlight/magnesium and seeing what happens. submitted by /u/Coyote-444 to r/Biohackers [link] [comments]

Vitamin D3 + K2 is overpowered superweapon
Hello. I wanted to share some advice with you all. I am 32 year old male, eating healthy and training my whole life and through all the years I've been taking all kinds off supplements. Every 3-4 months I used to have flu, runny nose etc., until I started taking ONLY Vitamin D3 + K2 two years ago. Since then, I never got sick, my sleep is superb and my energy levels are through the roof. In the past I used to take Vitamin D3 solo, and didn't see or feel any benefits from it, but when I added Vitamin K2, I noticed major improvements in all aspects of my life as mentioned above. submitted by /u/mata_cro7 to r/Supplements [link] [comments]

Vitamin K2 clears arteries for cardiovascular health, supports bone health and significantly increases lifespan by pairing it with Vitamin D3. Here is the best forms and scientific evidence.
If there’s one vitamin you’ve probably never paid enough attention to, it’s Vitamin K2. It’s quiet, underrated, and doesn’t get the headlines like Vitamin D or omega-3s. But it might just be the missing link to keeping your heart strong, your bones unbreakable, and your life longer. And here’s the thing: it doesn’t work alone. Pair it with Vitamin D3, and the magic really begins. Together, they act like the ultimate tag team: directing calcium exactly where it belongs, keeping it out of your arteries and putting it into your bones. Most people take calcium or even Vitamin D without ever realizing that without K2, they could be doing more harm than good. K2 acts like a traffic cop for calcium. Without it, calcium can go rogue. Building up in your arteries instead of strengthening your skeleton. That’s why some people end up with both brittle bones and hard arteries. But with K2, especially in the MK-7 form, your body actually knows what to do. It puts calcium in your bones where you need it. And clears it from your arteries where it can hurt you. The science behind it is beautiful. The Rotterdam Study, one of the biggest long-term studies in heart health, showed that people who got more K2 had cleaner arteries and were about half as likely to die from heart disease. Half. That’s not a small number. Other studies show that it boosts bone strength, especially in older adults, and even helps the body fight inflammation and early aging. It’s not just a vitamin. It’s a life protector. There are two powerful forms: MK-7 and MK-4. MK-7 stays in your blood longer and is great for overall heart and bone support. It’s the one you want for daily use. MK-4 acts faster and is used in larger doses for more targeted therapy, especially for bone or cell health. But avoid K1 if you're trying to protect your heart. It’s good for blood clotting, but not for your arteries. To make it even better, K2 works in perfect harmony with Vitamin D3. D3 tells your body to absorb more calcium from food. K2 tells it where to go. One without the other can cause trouble. But when you take them together, you get stronger bones, cleaner arteries, and longer life. Add some magnesium and omega-3s into the mix, and you're building a rock-solid foundation for aging well. You can find K2 in food. Fermented foods like natto (a Japanese superfood), aged cheeses, grass-fed butter, egg yolks, and liver. But let’s be honest. Most of us don’t eat these often enough to get what we need. That’s where supplements come in. A quality MK-7 capsule once a day with your meal can make all the difference. Especially if you're already taking D3, the combo is one of the most powerful anti-aging stacks science has ever shown us. So if you're someone who wants to stay active into your 80s or 90s. If you want to avoid heart surgery, avoid fractures, and live without fear of falling apart. K2 is your ally. It’s not flashy, but it works. It works in silence, every single day, moving calcium, building strength, protecting your arteries, and extending your time. Don’t wait until your doctor tells you your arteries are stiff or your bones are thinning. Take control now. One small supplement, paired with smart nutrition, can truly help you live longer, better, and more freely. Vitamin K2 is the key. submitted by /u/GarifalliaPapa to r/immortalists [link] [comments]

Joar, was jetzt?

Vitamin D3 is amazing
I have never really taken supplements, I work out 4 times a week, go on walks, and try to eat Whole Foods and avoid fast food. I usually feel pretty good most days health wise but I’ve always felt slight brain fog or low energy. I stumbled on to this subreddit a while ago and just kinda browsed through everything and noticed a lot of people mentioning vitamin D3, so about two weeks ago I went to my local supermarket and just bought a vitamin D3 supplement that had 2000 IU. The difference has been huge, I don’t feel brain fog anymore and I feel like I have more energy now, I don’t know how to really describe how I’m feeling but I just feel really good compared to what I was feeling before I started taking it. At first I thought it might just be the placebo effect but I also live in Washington where we only get sunshine 3 months out of the year so I think I was just deficient in vitamin D. submitted by /u/Dangerous_Blood_8544 to r/Biohackers [link] [comments]

Vitamin D3 significantly increases lifespan. Here are the best vitamin D sources and scientific evidence that they slow down aging and prevent major diseases.
Most people don’t realize it, but Vitamin D3 might be one of the cheapest, easiest, and most powerful ways to live longer and healthier. Yet here’s the problem — almost half of adults are running low on it, and they don’t even know. That’s not just about having “weak bones.” Low Vitamin D has been linked to a higher risk of dying from all causes. Your heart, your brain, your immune system — they all depend on it. And this deficiency crisis isn’t just in cold places. Even sunny countries have people deficient, because modern life keeps us indoors, sunscreen blocks most production, and aging skin simply makes less. The science is clear — people with good Vitamin D levels tend to live longer. Large studies, including one from the BMJ, show that Vitamin D supplementation is linked to lower mortality, especially in older adults. This vitamin acts like a master switch in the body, regulating over a thousand genes involved in immunity, inflammation control, and cell repair. When your levels are right, you’re not just avoiding illness — you’re giving your body a real chance to age slower, recover faster, and resist disease. And it’s not just about general health; it’s about the big killers. Vitamin D supports heart health by keeping blood vessels flexible and lowering inflammation. It can help reduce the risk of colorectal cancer and may slow down cancer cell growth. People with higher levels have lower rates of dementia and other neurodegenerative diseases. And in a world where infections can still be dangerous, it strengthens your immune system in ways medicine can’t fully replicate. A lot of people believe that just getting some sun will take care of it, but that’s not the whole truth. In winter, most regions’ sunlight produces zero Vitamin D. Sunscreen, while important for skin protection, blocks up to 95% of production. And as you age, your skin’s natural ability to make Vitamin D drops dramatically. So yes, sunlight helps — but for many, it’s not enough. Luckily, boosting your Vitamin D3 is incredibly easy and affordable. A small daily supplement — often costing just cents — can make a measurable difference in health and longevity. For most adults, 2,000 to 4,000 IU per day is a safe, effective range, but the smartest move is to get your levels tested so you know exactly where you stand. Pairing Vitamin D3 with Vitamin K2 and magnesium makes it work even better, directing calcium into bones and activating the vitamin properly. There are natural sources too. Wild-caught salmon, mackerel, and sardines give you Vitamin D along with anti-inflammatory omega-3s. Cod liver oil is a potent option, though it’s strong-tasting. Egg yolks from pasture-raised hens give you a smaller but steady boost, and fortified dairy or plant milks can easily fit into daily routines. But in reality, unless you eat these foods almost every day and get regular sun, supplementation is often the easiest way to stay in the optimal range. That optimal range matters — blood levels between 75 and 100 nmol/L (30–40 ng/mL) seem to give the best balance between health benefits and safety. Below that, you’re missing out on protection. Above that, you don’t gain much more, so it’s about hitting the sweet spot, not overdoing it. Think of it as tuning your body’s settings for long-term performance. If you care about living longer, sharper, and stronger, don’t gamble on Vitamin D3. It’s not hype — it’s one of the most studied, proven, and affordable health upgrades you can make. A small daily habit could mean fewer hospital visits, less disease risk, and more years of vibrant life. All it takes is a bit of sun, smart eating, and a supplement the size of a grain of rice. Your future self will thank you for it. submitted by /u/GarifalliaPapa to r/immortalists [link] [comments]

According to this guy, vitamin D3 supplementation (even with K2) can do more harm than good
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Ul-hYTaQ4I If this video the guy says that it is better to get sun exposure than taking vitamin D3 supplements, and he says that vitamin D3 supplements, even with K2 vitamin, can create calcification in joints and bones and affect cardiovascular health. First of all, is he right? Second, for someone that can not get sun exposure in daily basis and has low levels of vitamin D, is it good to supplement it? submitted by /u/selfimprovedalot to r/Supplements [link] [comments]

New research has found significant differences between the two types of vitamin D, with vitamin D2 having a questionable impact on human health. Scientists found evidence that vitamin D3 had a modifying effect on the immune system that could fortify the body against viral and bacterial diseases.

Study on Vitamin D3 & Increased Penis Size
Hello,I was planning on buying vitamin D supplements recently and I found this study recently:https://www.researchgate.net/publication/322071346_Enhanced_Growth_of_the_Adult_Penis_With_Vitamin_D_3and am planning on a similar milder dosage of D3 & K2. I wanted to consult a community about the dangers of extreme D3 intake and how to recognize potential/avert potential kidney damage. The study: "Fourteen adult men volunteered to participate in an experiment to evaluate the potential for penile growth as a result of taking 50,000 units of vitamin D 3 and 100 mcg of vitamin K 2 daily. Penis length increased an average of 0.46 inches and circumference increased an average of 0.523 inches, both statistically significant." All penis measurements increased over the course of 3-6 months. I looked into the researcher Dr. Norman Shealy, and he founded the "International institute of Holistic Medicine (IIHM)," and his other research seems varied and cited. I couldn't find any flagrant scandals or bad press on him or the IIHM, but remain skeptical. He has 1 other study on the topic where he attempted a similar experiment with penis pumps, and reported somewhat similar results (although the permanency of those gains is to be decided). Plan: Take between 40%-80% of study's amounts: D3 between 20,000-40,000 units a day. K2 between 40-80 mcg mcg a day. (To combat D3 side affects) I plan on getting my bloodwork done in either 3 or 4 months to monitor but it will not be weekly/monthly, so I have to be cautious of not pushing my D3, but I would like input in the correct amounts to aim for. **Concerns:**Obviously taking multiple times the recommended amount of D3 has potential dangers.Namely blood calcium levels increasing to an unsafe threshold, and kidney damage. I do not know how K2 combats the increased blood calcium levels, but that was its purpose in the study. I originally was worried that I was leading a sedentary indoor lifestyle recently and was showing signs of decreased sex-drive and low blood-pressure which was concerning since I am young and already made an effort for low stress/excercise/food. I made mild improvements ( + cardio, cleaner food, zinc [not sure any difference was made], kegels, nootropic supplements) but figured I'd try some vitamin D. The penis-growth angle is interesting, but not necessary and general health/well being comes first. So /r/nutrition, what do you recommend?Dosage?Red Flags? EDIT: Internet was right, this is silly and way too dangerous. Thanks for the legitimate feedback and Vitamin Dick jokes. EDIT2: Found the website trying to profit from this: https://normshealy.com/2009/04/15/d3-k2-as-good-as-augmentation-surgery/ Side note, he sells emu oil. submitted by /u/BombasticStochastic to r/nutrition [link] [comments]
