Beef tallow is having its moment at Expo West — tallow chips, tallow cooking sprays, tallow-fried frozen fries. The anti-seed oil movement is reshaping CPG innovation.
The backlash against processed seed oils has fueled a major resurgence in traditional cooking fats, and it was impossible to miss at Expo West this year. Fatworks, a Colorado-based family operation that's been championing rendered fats since 2011, showcased premium cooking oils (venison, elk, goose, turkey, Spanish Iberico lard), gourmet tallow cooking sprays (grass-fed, organic, and wagyu varieties using compressed air instead of chemical propellants), and is entering frozen with tallow-fried fries and onion rings launching exclusively at Sprouts in May. They're not alone. Steak N Shake is bringing beef tallow products to retail shelves. Jesse & Ben's is expanding tallow-cooked frozen fries in Sprouts and Whole Foods. At the show, tortilla chip brands Vaca Chips, Hola Mija, and MASA were all using tallow, along with potato chip brands like Beefy's Own, Graze, Vandy, and Teddy's Tallow Chips. Even protein bar brands like Rello, Jacob, and Prima are incorporating grass-fed beef tallow. Supply chain challenges remain — tallow imports from Brazil face heavy tariffs, and manufacturing with tallow increases maintenance costs. But the consumer tailwind driven by social media and the broader anti-seed-oil movement (amplified by health secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.) is undeniable. How are you thinking about the seed oil backlash from a formulation and marketing perspective? Is tallow a viable long-term ingredient at scale, or will supply chain economics limit it to premium niches? Source: NOSH submitted by /u/sprodoe to r/CPGIndustry [link] [comments]

[homemade] wagyu tallow eggs
I did the research so you don’t have to. Snake River Farms American wagyu tallow A5 Miyazaki wagyu tallow Home made from Costco A5 NY strip My favorite way to judge tallow and really get the flavors is by using them in scrambled eggs instead of butter. These were all quite rich and not something I’d recommend in one sitting. But I did prefer American wagyu the best. Just the right amount of beefiness and umami without being overpowering. The Costco A5 was over the top, and the A5 Miyazaki was somewhere in the middle. So many uses for beef tallow and something I recommend you have at all times in the pantry/fridge. submitted by /u/R1T-wino to r/food [link] [comments]

What do I cook with wagyu beef tallow?
A friend bought me a jar of this wagyu beef fat/tallow this past Christmas, but I haven't the slightest clue how to use this in the kitchen. I gathered from a couple other reddit posts you can use it in just about anything, but I still don't know what a *good* use would be. Can anyone explain why beef tallow makes me feel this way?
Hey everyone, I'm slowly transitioning into what I hope is a fairly strict carnivore diet but I got some wagyu beef tallow and have been downing spoonfuls periodically. I noticed I get a pretty immediate relaxing sensation that makes me feel like I want to lay down but not in a tired or exhausted way just a strong desire to be still. I'm no stranger to fats, have always loved gristle and load butter on everything but this is the first time with tallow and am wondering if anyone had a similar experience. submitted by /u/endtimesrambler to r/carnivorediet [link] [comments]

I have a BBQ emergency and need south Chicago packaging Beef Tallow. I bought from a local market a few months ago, but I have forgotten which one. How do I make beef tallow like this?
I’ve been using the stuff pictured for a couple years. It always seemed to be much lower density and lower viscosity than expected, which made it easy to work with at room temperature. I just made my own tallow for the first time, from brisket trimmings (made on the smoker alongside the brisket). I’m curious how to replicate the texture of the tallow in the photo. Is it “whipped?” I thought about putting it in the stand mixer to see if that would work (haven’t yet). But the only material I’ve found online who do that are from people making cosmetics (e.g., balms). Especially because my tallow has been smoked to impart flavor, I’ll be sticking with using it in the kitchen for now. submitted by /u/Sum-Online-Rando to r/smoking [link] [comments]
