Stopped wasting money on Tide after doing the math on cost per load. Arm and Hammer OxiClean is genuinely better value.
Stopped wasting money on Tide after doing the math on cost per load. Arm and Hammer OxiClean is genuinely better value. My wife and I do probably 8 loads a week between the two of us and two kids. Sports stuff, school clothes, sheets, the usual mountain of laundry that never ends. For years we just grabbed whatever Tide was at Target because that's what her parents used and it worked fine. Never questioned it. Then I started actually looking at what we spend on household stuff because our grocery bill was getting out of control. Pulled up the last few months of receipts and realized we were spending close to $40 a month just on laundry detergent. For Tide. Forty dollars a month to wash clothes. Started reading about alternatives and kept seeing Arm and Hammer Plus OxiClean come up. People swearing it cleaned just as well at half the price. I was skeptical because I figured cheaper meant worse and my wife would notice immediately if the kids clothes didn't come out right. Bought the big 160 load jug to test it. Arm & Hammer Plus OxiClean Odor Blasters ran us about sixteen bucks for 160 loads. Did the math and that's roughly ten cents a load. Tide was running us about twenty two cents a load for the equivalent. Doesn't sound like much until you multiply it by 400 loads a year and realize you're saving close to fifty bucks. First few loads I was literally sniffing everything like a weirdo trying to find a difference. The gym clothes that usually hold onto that funk even after washing came out actually better than with Tide. The OxiClean part handles stains that regular Tide needed a pretreat for. My daughter's softball pants used to need a Shout spray before washing and now I just throw them in. Most of the time the grass stains are gone without any extra step. Only real complaint is the jug is enormous. Like comically large. It barely fits on our shelf above the washer and pouring from it is awkward because of the weight. We ended up keeping it on the floor next to the machine which works but isn't ideal. It's HE compatible which was a requirement for our washer. No residue issues after probably 200 loads at this point. The scent is mild and doesn't linger on clothes which my wife prefers over the Tide smell that she always thought was too strong. We're six months in and haven't gone back. The savings are real and the cleaning is honestly the same or better depending on what you're washing. Still can't believe we spent years overpaying for a brand name out of habit. submitted by /u/acoffeetablebook to r/ProductProbe [link] [comments]

New Kirkland Powdered Laundry Detergent, is it Tide or Arm & Hammer?
I've never seen this laundry detergent before. Has anyone used it and or know if it is like Tide or like Arm & Hammer? I only use powdered detergent for washing our clothes and have been using Arm & Hammer for years, which is now $16 per 130 loads and is also called Fresh Scent. This Kirkland version is $19.99 for 200 loads and also called Fresh Scent and also has Oxi like the Arm & Hammer version I use. Plus this comes in a cardboard box which I want to reduce our plastic waste. Strong scent product recommendations? Something LETHAL
So, I have a few robes , blanket, pillow case, leg warmers, &giant cozy t shirts that are my comfort items.. and scent is a huge trigger stopper for me. (I’m in recovery, so all of those who say my laundry is killing the planet and causes cancer and allergies, the alternative for me is a needle in my arm, ) So these items I literally want to smell so damn strong. Offensively strong. I don’t wear them out of the house anyway but that’s what I mean that LETHAL combo. Like mixing Ariel + downy with gain powder, unstoppable beads, rinse and refresh AND softener, and 10 dryer sheets. And linen spray. Like STUPID amount of products. I love the smell of gain, the downy unstoppable in fresh, the smell of tide, snuggle dryer sheets, bounce sheets, downy rinse out odor blue one, the tide downy unstoppables (pretty much love those beads,), or the arm &hammer crystals, the febreezr fabric sprays, tide original and the daybreak fresh. I wash these items by hand, soak them, so yeah I’ll use everything to get a good scent going. I stick dryer sheets in my bra for a quick wiff on the go, usually 2 gains and 2 snuggles. lol but I am looking into some laundry sauce, diva, or other higher end brands. Any recs? ** don’t come at me in the comments. These items are washed maybe monthly, and I’m aware all of these products can leave residue, cause allergies and headaches, not good for the washing machine…. If my worst habit is a stupid amount of scent beads and detergent on my robe I’ll take it. submitted by /u/Numerous_Charity4040 to r/laundry [link] [comments]

The downside of my laundry finally coming out CLEAN!
I’ve used Arm and Hammer liquid detergent for years. It was cheap, and the smell was nostalgic for me. After moving to a place with harder water and starting to use an HE washer, our laundry only seemed to get worse. Plus my son was growing out of toddlerhood into stinky-little-boyhood and my husband went from working in an office to working in a machine shop. Our laundry was, in fact, getting more odorous. But one thing that I truly love is the way my husband smells. Not his work clothes, but his scent. He smells like home to me. And his scent had been on all his pajama and regular t-shirts (which also held onto his deodorant smells). I often would put his pajama shirts on feeling so cuddly for bed and getting to smell him. Well, as you can imagine, my laundry process is actually doing what it’s supposed to do now. The stinky boy smells are gone from my son’s clothes, and his socks smell like nothing instead of feet stuck in wet shoes for 3 months straight. The deodorant smells are gone, replaced with a smell of… nothing. But also, so is my husband’s scent. Gone are the days of smelling my partner and best friend in stolen sleepwear. No more cuddling up in a t-shirt twice my size that felt like home. They stay stolen, but only for the size factor. They actually smell like nothing now. And while I’m SO grateful to this sub and LOVE what the knowledge has done to my laundry, I lament the lingering smell of my husband in his pajama shirts. ETA: Cleaner laundry routine for those asking: Warm water, correct detergent dosing, longer wash times, 1-2 tsp borax in the drum, and 1 tsp citric acid in the fabric softener compartment. I use 365 sport for my son’s clothes + a lil bit of oxiclean, tide c&g (powder) for whites, and tide f&c (liquid) + a scoop or so as needed of febu for colors and darks. Hope that clears up the routine side of things lol submitted by /u/Kooky-Requirement165 to r/laundry [link] [comments]

Arm and hammer
I have this detergent that was chilling in my closet for a bit from before I joined this subreddit. It has amylase, mannanase, and protease for enzymes. Is there anything I should add to my laundry to increase effectiveness in order to use this up? I'm mainly fighting body oil funk and rebloom. submitted by /u/BridgetKay81 to r/laundry [link] [comments]

Please help fine-tune my laundry routine. When should I be using Biz, Borax or Arm and Hammer powder supplements in the wash? Is citric acid what I really need to soften towels? Does it work with clothing?
I use All Free and Clear liquid detergent in a top load washer. (Bravo Maytag Commercial Technology or something close…not thrilled with how well it cleans.) •I generally separate laundry into towels, darks, lights, bed linens, and an occasional load for more delicate or professional wear. •(I also do separate loads for dirty Shark cloth steamer covers, towels used for dusting, rugs, etc.) •I wash most loads on warm, to ensure that cologne and BO are removed. I use heavy/extra heavy load bc it doesn’t seem like clothes are washed long enough on medium cycle. •I wash loads of wash-cloths and towels on hot; also wash sheets and pillow cases or dirty cleaning rags on hot, extra heavy. •I use wool dryer balls as well as a fabric softener dryer sheet in the dryer. • I like my t-shirts to be very soft, so I will put them in an extra rinse with Downy fabric softener to achieve that end. •I do feel like I have some fading with some cotton fabrics. •I occasionally use Lysol laundry sanitizer liquid in the rinse with towels or sports gear. *Also, I do laundry for a friend who lives in a nursing home. Increasingly more of her items are urine soaked. I wash her clothes separately from mine. I have been putting them on a “soak” cycle in warm before washing. I do an extra rinse on her items and put Lysol sanitizer in that rinse. Should I be doing anything else? •As for stain removal, I have a Shout spray remover that I use generally, and several Carbons Stain Devil brand spot removers. I especially use the Fats and Oils remover on food stains (with much success). When do I add things mentioned in title? I have Biz (never used), Borax and Arm and Hammer laundry booster available, but will consider using different items if recommended. *I want to learn about Citric Acid powder, please. Also, sometimes I add vinegar to the rinse cycle if I want to make sure it smells fresh. Thanks in advance for your help! submitted by /u/Thundering-Gallop to r/laundry [link] [comments]

How to make Arm&Hammer sensitive skin detergent more effective?
Hello r/ laundry! I’m a somewhat new lurker here and I’ve learned so much in the past few weeks, including that my current detergent, Arm & Hammer sensitive skin liquid detergent, is likely not doing enough cleaning of my clothes. However, I still have a huge jug of it left, and I’d rather use it than get rid of it. I’m wondering what and how much of other ingredients can I add to this detergent to make it more effective until I get through the bottle. I use a top loader (speed queen) washer and usually do medium- large loads of laundry. I have oxiclean, 365 sports detergent, and ammonia (thank you Kismai for your wisdom❤️) and am planning on getting the Tide clean free & gentle powder eventually. Thanks for reading and thanks to this community for being so kind and helpful:) submitted by /u/treemooo to r/laundry [link] [comments]

Delve Into ARM & HAMMER Laundry Detergent Sheets Worth the Switch?
Lightweight and Travel-Friendly Design I’ve been testing the ARM & HAMMER 033200003687 Power Sheets Laundry Detergent for a few weeks now, and I have to say, the design of these detergent sheets is fantastic for someone constantly on the go. Each sheet is compact and lightweight, making them perfect for travel without adding any noticeable bulk to your luggage. Compared to lugging around a bottle of liquid detergent, these sheets are a dream. Plus, the fact that there’s no risk of spills or leaks is incredibly convenient. Ease of Use and Mess-Free Application Using these detergent sheets couldn’t be simpler. Just toss one sheet into your washing machine for a medium load, and that’s it. For larger loads, two sheets do the trick. One of my favorite aspects is how mess-free they are—no sticky caps or detergent dripping all over my washing machine. My kids even joined me in trying this out, and it was fun to see how easily they could follow the instructions. The idea of no dyes and perfumes makes it even better, especially for households with sensitive skin. Performance and Cleaning Power When it comes to tackling dirt and stains, these sheets hold their own. My toddler’s muddy clothes and my husband’s workout gear came out super clean every time I tested them. The ARM & HAMMER Power Sheets use Quick Dissolve Technology, which I’ve found genuinely does its job. Even when I used cold water for a more delicate load, I didn’t find any residue left behind. It’s just as effective as many liquid detergents I’ve used in the past. Check ARM & HAMMER 033200003687 price on Amazon. Environmental Benefits of Zero Plastic Waste One of the standout features here is the environmental angle. These sheets eliminate the need for plastic bottle waste entirely, which is a major win. As someone trying to incorporate more eco-friendly products into my household, these were a no-brainer. Additionally, the fact that they use 99 percent less water per medium load compared to leading liquid detergents really caught my attention. It feels like I’m making a positive impact, even in small ways. Highlights - Compact and lightweight design makes it easy to store and travel with. - The Quick Dissolve Technology ensures no residue, even in cold water. - Fragrance-free, dye-free, and dermatologist-tested for sensitive skin. Less Favorable Aspects - The concentration of each sheet sometimes left me puzzled when deciding if half or a whole sheet should be used for small loads. - For extremely heavy-duty stains, it took two washes to get some clothes perfectly clean. - While the packaging is recyclable, it feels a bit flimsy and could be more robust for storage. Competing Products Compared to liquid detergents or traditional pods, these sheets bring something fresh to the table. A product like Tide Pods offers good cleaning power but still produces plastic waste, which these sheets avoid entirely. On the other hand, Earth Breeze detergent sheets claim similar environmental benefits but come at a slightly higher cost. If you’re focused on affordability combined with impactful cleaning power, this product strikes a better balance than many competitors in the market. Affordable Quality In terms of value, I found these detergent sheets to be surprisingly cost-efficient. Considering that a single box covers up to 120 small loads, you’re getting quite a lot of bang for your buck—especially when factoring in their convenience and lightweight design. It’s one of those products that feels worth the investment, not just for its features, but for how readily it fits into daily life. Want ARM & HAMMER 033200003687? Could ARM & HAMMER Liquid Detergent Tackle Tough Odors Effectively? Detailed Review
ARM & HAMMER 033200975816, Plus OxiClean Odor Blasters Fresh Burst liquid laundry detergent has been my go-to laundry solution for weeks now, and having tested it with everything from sweaty workout clothes to delicate fabrics, I have quite a bit to say. This isn’t your generic detergent; it’s packing some serious cleaning power with its unique formulation. However, as impressed as I was, a few aspects caught my attention that may not suit everyone. Design and Packaging The packaging of this concentrated detergent is practical, but not revolutionary. It’s a substantial 166.5 fl oz bottle that promises to clean 128 loads of laundry, provided there’s no wild measuring involved! The bottle also comes with a handy measuring cap, which ensures I don’t accidentally go overboard while pouring. While the bulk size is great for anyone aiming to save on frequent repurchases, lifting it can be a mini workout. A smaller, more ergonomic design for those with limited grip strength could add to the appeal. Cleaning Performance This detergent performs like an overachiever. Its formulation combines trusted ARM & HAMMER Baking Soda with OxiClean Stain Fighters and specialized odor blasters that tackle everything from body odors to musty towels. My son once managed to cover himself in ketchup, and this product erased the evidence as if it was magic! Clothes come out smelling fresh, and the Fresh Burst scent lingers just long enough without being overpowering. I felt comfortable using it even on my older towels that had been victims of damp smells for years. No exaggeration – it works brilliantly even in cold water washes. Good Points - Skin-friendly formulation that deeply cleans without damaging fabrics. - Targets stubborn stains like grease, grass, and food spills effectively. - Works for both standard and HE washers to maximize compatibility. Check ARM & HAMMER 033200975816 price on Amazon. Smell and Scent Longevity The scent was another highlight that stood out. It’s fresh but not chokingly strong, and the clothes retain the fragrance for a satisfactory duration. I did laundry last week, and my shirts still smelled like they could have been fresh off the drying rack. But if you prefer fragrance-free or low-scent detergents, this may feel slightly overbearing. Positives - The Fresh Burst scent provides a pleasant, long-lasting aroma. - Effective at removing “old clothes” smell or damp odors from forgotten laundry. - Eliminates sweat odors from activewear without heavy scrubbing. Areas of Concern On the downside, the size of the bottle might feel inconvenient for small apartments or laundry rooms with limited shelving space. Also, while it claims to clean 128 medium loads, it assumes perfect measuring each time, which isn’t always practical for most users. Those with sensitive noses might also find the scent too distinct for their liking. Lastly, its liquid nature means accidental spills could be messy. Shortcomings - Bulk size can be unwieldy for storage or handling. - Pre-measured portions could reduce waste but aren’t included. - Overly fragrant for those who favor milder scents. Product Rivals Comparing this detergent to market leaders like Tide and Gain, the cleaning performance is neck and neck. While Tide’s stain removal historically gets more praise, ARM & HAMMER stands out thanks to the inclusion of baking soda for an added deodorizing touch. Gain boasts a broader range of fragrances, but ARM & HAMMER focuses more on odor-neutralizing functionality than scent variety. Interestingly, for those with a keen eye on environmental factors, brands like Seventh Generation offer greener packaging but at a higher price point and sometimes less stain-fighting power. Bang for the Buck Given how concentrated this detergent’s cleaning formulation is, I’d say it offers excellent value for money. You’re not paying for filler liquids here—every ounce seems to work hard to deliver clean, fragrant laundry. Compared to pricier competitors, this feels like a budget-friendly powerhouse that doesn't cut corners when facing grime or distressing smells. Does ARM & HAMMER Liquid Laundry Detergent Deep Clean Formula Truly Deliver Review
The ARM & HAMMER 033200976653 Deep Clean Odor Formula Liquid Laundry Detergent has been part of my regular laundry routine for a few weeks now. Known for its radiant burst scent and impressive pH Power Technology, I was curious to see if it could handle everything from gym clothes soaked in sweat to stubborn stains from children’s school uniforms. The promise of ionic micro-scrubbers sounded a bit dramatic to me, but I was prepared to give it a go. Packaging and Design The first thing that stood out to me was the compact yet hefty plastic bottle. It’s not as intimidatingly large as some laundry detergent bottles, but the 102 fl oz size feels like it means business. There’s a comfortable handle for easy pouring, although one improvement could be a no-drip spout. A couple of times while tilting the bottle, I noticed a leftover trail of detergent creeping down the side. It’s no deal-breaker, but it’s worth pointing out. The label shouts "radiant burst scent," which had me mentally prepared for a perfume factory. Thankfully, the fragrance is strong, but not overbearing—sweet and fresh without veering into “too much.” Good Points The positives of this liquid detergent stack up after multiple test runs through my laundry pile. - Penetrates fibers effectively, even with deeply embedded dirt. - Leaves clothes with a fresh, long-lasting scent. - Works seamlessly in all washing machines and at all temperatures. - The pH Power Technology subtly but efficiently tackles odor, perfect for smelly gym wear or pet blankets. Check ARM & HAMMER 033200976653 price on Amazon. Scent and Odor Removal Powers What truly impressed me was its odor-eliminating ability. My partner’s workout gear can practically stand on its own, thanks to deep-seated sweat and body oil smells. Though some detergents merely mask odors with a cloying fragrance, this product genuinely neutralizes unpleasant smells. After washing, the radiant burst scent lingers, but it’s subtle enough that you won’t find your clothes stealing the show—no one at work will accuse you of wearing overly-perfumed laundry detergent. Shirts smell clean without screaming “I came straight out of a bottle." The Cleaning Efficiency Of course, odor removal abilities alone aren’t enough to win me over—effective stain removal is crucial. After several loads that included grass-streaked jeans, grease-stained T-shirts, and spaghetti-sauce mishaps, I can confidently say this detergent handles tough stains admirably. While certain older stains might require pre-treatment, this detergent alone covered about 90% of my cleaning needs. Plus, there were no random detergent residue spots left after the wash (a big win for me). Shortcomings Although there’s much to like about this detergent, it has a few areas for improvement: - The radiant burst scent, while pleasant, might be too strong for people who prefer unscented options. - It lacks a measuring tool in the cap—accurately gauging the correct detergent amount can be tricky. - The bottle size might be cumbersome to lift for those with wrist or hand issues. Product Comparisons When compared to similar deep-cleaning detergents on the market, the pH Power Technology sets this product apart as a top contender. For instance, Tide’s odor-control line delivers comparable results in terms of freshness and stain-fighting ability, but I find it to be heavier on artificial scents. On the other hand, Persil often wins in stain-fighting for visible spots, but it lacks the all-encompassing odor control that this product delivers. For budget-conscious buyers, this detergent feels like receiving both premium cleaning and effective deodorizing wrapped up at a reasonable price point, but competing brands like All might have slightly more cost-friendly options for bigger households. Price to Quality Ratio When you think carefully about how much laundry detergent you’ll go through each month, this product lands comfortably in the “worth it” category. It’s comparable in volume to other detergents in a similar price range, but the deep-clean efficiency and odor control grant it an edge. Knowing that it works in all machines and water temperatures makes it more versatile for diverse households. If you’re on a tighter budget, this product could feel like a small splurge, but let me tell you—it handles stains better than some lesser-known brands while leaving your clothes smelling fresher for longer. Prepping Like a Sane Person During Insane Times: A List
Prepping Like a Sane Person in Insane Times I originally posted my personal prep list and there were so many great suggestions in the comments that I am now posting an updated general list, including why I included some items. I got pretty good at prepping during the pandemic but depleted my stores and then got lax and didn’t want to focus after the election. That was a mistake. So this past week, I was able to obtain most of my list for about $2k, which was a loan against my tax refund. If you don’t have extra money, even grabbing a few cheap basics (rice, beans, pasta, canned fruit, canned protein: chicken/tuna/spam, frozen fruit and veg) is still worthwhile. Just do what you can, don’t expect to get all this at once, and fight the overwhelm. This isn’t a perfect comprehensive list, but after seeing so many posts here along the lines of “what do I do? What should I prep?” I figure I’m doomscrolling anyway, might as well help someone out. I am not an expert, just a stressed out mom that likes taking care of people. This list includes what I am stocking at home, what I’m buying because of tariffs, and bug out bags. Deep breaths. Here we go! MIL moved in and has taken over my house- refuses to use unscented laundry detergent?
Update: after my husband talking to her she has now decided she will most definitely be going to the Laundromat to do her laundry, because she loves her detergents and fabric softeners so much. Felt bad for my husband, her reaction to the sit down talk was manipulative and controlling, almost like she demands equal rights as me, as his mom. Absolutely no FABULOSO ON THE FLOORS OR ANYWHERE IN THE HOUSE nor scented detergents/dryer sheets/softeners. I have a big ol bottle of white vinegar with orange peels soaking away under the sink- go crazy with it MIL. and only white meat/fish and we pay for her groceries and I follow her requests to a T- always getting exactly what she wants including the $8 tiny gluten free loaf of bread, cooking all dinners following her dietary needs etc. so that fact that she REFUSES to not use fragrances in my home is really hurtful. we always had good (short!) visits so for SOME reason I thought her living with us temporarily would be just fine. Nope, what I thought would be my 'houseguests' (I love hosting people! For a few days at a time) have become trying to be like, equal roommates. it's not 'my' home. It's ours now. Her and her husband are staying for free BTW. Anyway, I get terrible migraines from her fragrances. She's Hispanic so if you've ever been in a Hispanic home.. yeah. We are different. She does her laundry with this scented arm and hammer detergent and snuggle fabric softener sheets. I get the worst headaches - I even woke up with an itchy throat last week and it was from the fragrances she used for laundry and the FABULOSO cleaning concrete she brought, on the floor (don't even get me started on FABULOSO...) I brought it up to her and my husband brought it up to her, and I told her I would buy natural alternatives for her. So anyway, yesterday was laundry day and guess what... The house is filled with these fragrances. I homeschool the kids so I go outside to escape it but it's even worse- the dryer vent carried the snuggle fresh smell straight to me. When my husband gets home we show her the natural alternatives I got her (wool dryer balls, essential oils of all different kinds, and of course free and clear detergent) and she throws a FIT. She says- I am NOT going to use those. And then proceeded to tell my husband that she will be going to a laundry mat to do her laundry. Such an attitude. I mean, I feel pretty bad that I have a washer and dryer and my MIL has to spend money going to a laundry mat just so she can use her scented parfums- which I will still smell in the house. I'm just frustrated. also- the residue from her scented detergent and fabric softener gets on our clothes the next load and we have all been itchy. we bought a new construction home so that we could start from scratch and control the environment as I've been in many places that make me sick with asthma (not that we could even necessarily afford it- a used home would have been at least 30-40k cheaper) Anyway, I can't control what soap she uses in the shower I guess, or what parfum she puts on although it bothers me SO much (I told my husband to tell her BEFORE she moved here- that I cannot have ANY FRAGRANCES in the home so she could make an educated decision on moving here- but he brushed it off and never did. He thought when she got there and we told her she would just be like, okay if course. Noooooope. He has since apologized and realized I was on to something! ) submitted by /u/Careful-Violinist937 to r/migraine [link] [comments]

$0.99 Arm & Hammer laundry detergent at Walgreen, Saturday is the last day!
Just wanted everyone to know that Walgreens is selling Arm & Hammer laundry detergent for $1.99 and once you download the free app, go to their coupons section (scroll down on the first page) and scroll (there's no search button for some ungodly reason) to find the $1 off coupon for their liquid laundry detergent (yes, I know there's one for their pods but it's for the bigger size that's not on sale). We use A&H sometimes and it works just fine, especially if you're in a financial bind. Even if you can't find the coupon, it's still $2 laundry detergent. Walgreens sales start on Sunday and end on Saturday, so Saturday the 17th is the last day for this sale (this is for the US). Hope this helps someone.
