I’m sure similar questions have been asked, so please read the whole post before commenting bc I think the context helps. I have two cats and one of them is the problem child. He is SO finicky with the litter box and his poop smells incredibly strong — the litter robot is just not cutting it because it pauses on every cycle (honestly, I hate this thing), and although he sometimes uses it he at other times decides he doesn’t like it and poops on the floor. I know pooping outside the litter box can be a health issue, but I’ve already taken him to the vet and we’ve figured out his digestive issues so now it seems like it’s purely behavioral re: not liking the automatic litter box. I’m at my wit’s end and I’m dealing with a small space, on top of the fact that I don’t want just any litter box with a huge opening where the smell can waft through (not to mention the litter getting kicked everywhere). I’ve been looking through a few options on Chewy but if anyone has strong recommendations for a box that has helped them in a similar situation I’d be very grateful. My roommate (23 f) and I (24 f) have been living together for the past couple of years. We slowly became friends and I started to trust her. When I am gone (which is about every weekend), I have her go in my room to feed and water my cat (3 f). Lately I have been coming back home to certain things being out of place. Things like, the pillows on my bed shuffled out of place like someone laid there, my bathroom door closed (I never close it, my cat needs to access her litter box), and jewelry or perfume not in the correct spot. I never thought much of it, I knew she needed to go in my room to feed my cat and people are curious. This most recent time, I came home to something very odd. It was late, and the only thing I wanted to do was go to bed. Well, I walked into my bedroom and there was my roommate and her sister (22 f, who I have only met a handful of times) laid up in my bed. They were CHILLIN. T.V. on, snacks, all comfy in my bed... She immediately started to freak out "oh my god you were supposed to be home in a few days" telling her sister to get up and leave. I honestly did not even know what to say. She kept apologizing and saying she did not know I was coming home. Her sister got up still wrapped up in my blanket. I asked her if she could give me the blanket back. She said she couldn't because "I have to put clothes on". I looked at her and quickly realized that she was BUTT NAKED wrapped up in my bed! I was appalled. I gave a gross look, and just sighed. When I went into my bathroom, I saw a lot was out of place and it was clear my shower had been used. Another concerning thing is how often she talks about how her sister is a liar and thief. She steals from family members and shop lifts. Why would she skip out on my stuff? My roommate herself has made comments about how certain things in my room are "valuable" and has joked about if I was not so cool she would def pawn my stuff. I think this is all mostly my fault, because I am really chill and I do put up with a lot. She has never blown up on me, but I have overheard and seen her blow up over small things on other people. I fear if I bring this up she may freak. But now I am at the point where I know I have to say something. What should I do and how do I handle this without her blowing up? But I always keep my door open, even at night so that should not have been an issue. My roommate does care about the cat and I know she would never do anything harmful to her. I told her I am not comfortable with people staying in my room without her asking me first. I am a chill roommate and if someone can sleep on a bed (on top of my comforter, not in my sheets or personal blankets) instead of the uncomfortable couch then yes, they can. She also told me that her sister often sleeps nude and she was wrapped up because roommate was in there for a min. I truly don't think anything weird between them was going on. They were not touching, they were clearly apart with two separate blankets on. It just so happened that my blanket was on the nude sister. I am going to put in a camera, and purchase an automatic feeder once I get paid. Thing is, I don't plan on closing my door. Shutting my cat in my room for days at a time just isn't okay. My 100% honest review of the FurryTail Pro automatic litter box Hello users. I wanted to make an honest review of the furry tail pro from somebody who isn’t sponsored or connected with the company in any way. I feel like many video reviews show unfair views from users who were gifted this product or are required to say positive things about it. And there are very few reviews on Reddit about this as well from what I’ve found. So here’s my honest take from a 23 year old who is super over protective about my cats- to the point where I have a customized binder with all of their health and diet information down to the tablespoon. Shipping: The product was shipped out within 48 hours of purchase. Which was almost too quick because I was on the fence and contacted the company to cancel the order a bit too late. (I was weary and wasn’t sure about it) Customer Support: I reached out to the company twice about the purchase while it was in shipping. Both times I received a message back in less than 24 hours. They were more than happy to refund the product for me once it arrived but after some discussion I decided to go through with the 30 day trial and see how I liked it. I saw a few reviews mentioning the company being unreachable. This is no longer a problem from what it seems. Delivery: the package arrived in perfect condition, brand new, and with all of the needed papers and instructions as well as some instructions on the box. The Design: This box is made from a high quality plastic that seems to be very durable for the most part. It’s smooth rolls in a clock pattern, which reduces the risk of injury from a head being caught inside. There is a small gap along the bottom that allows for clearance underneath and reduces any risk of catching. The “poop-chute” is located at the top of the box, and is small enough that none of my average size cats would be able to get inside of it. It has a flapping door that automatically closes with gravity and keeps any smells hidden away. It also comes with 2 litter grates of different sizes. If you’re using a small litter like clay, this ensures that no tiny pieces of pee will make it through. I personally use the larger size with tofu litter. The floor is the same as the litter robot and is made out of some sort of rubber that bends to release litter. I was skeptical about this at first because my tofu litter is known to stick pretty bad to the bottom of the box if it gets low but it had no problem getting the litter to fall. I was pretty impressed. It also comes with a screen on the front where you can cycle through the main settings to manually clean/empty/smooth the litter. There’s also a soft light that shines behind the box to keep the area lit up for any cats during the night which was a cute touch. Safety: I’ll be honest. I tried a lot to get this thing to “not work” right because I’ll be damned if I let my cats use a box I didn’t test out in every way apart from taking a dump inside of it myself. There’s a weight sensor, which works by stopping the box if it senses any weight being put inside of it or on the opening. This function was very hard to test properly because of the other safety feature, a proximity sensor. You have to be about 18-24 inches away from the box for it to work properly. I believe the sensor is on the bottom of the box but I’m not really certain. If you come close to it, it stops. And if you come from above the box and put your weight inside, it’ll stop too. It takes about 5 seconds after removing your hand or body away from the box for it to resume use. The only time it didn’t “work” was when I had a thick litter mat sitting in front of the box which I didn’t realize was obstructing it. After I moved it, it became very sensitive to movement and worked even better. It would be nice if there was a sensor maybe inside the doorway that shone down but beggars can’t be choosers ¯\\\_(ツ)\_/¯ The app: so unlike the big brand, this box doesn’t require any payment to be used. It’s all free and gives you access to your data (how often they each visit the box) which is detected by weight and can be manually changed and adjusted in the app. Along with this the app gives you full access to cleaning modes, emptying for cleaning, a “shake” function to use if you have stuck-on litter (which I haven’t had to use) a child lock, lighting controls, a schedule control, waste bin fill percentage, and auto clean function, and do not disturb function (which turns off all cleaning until the next day and cannot clean until it’s done manually) there’s also a status indicator button on there too. The home screen shows the litter box status (if it’s being used, on standby, paused) which is cool as well. There’s a separate screen that shows your cats (and custom profile pictures) and the average use of the box as well as individual uses on a chart. You can access today’s records, the weekly records, and a yearly record which is great for health insight IMO. Price: the box normally goes for $399 USD but is on sale for $279 right now. For something that works as well as it does, the price is really great honestly. You can order more bags online too but regular garbage bags will work just as good. The supply they gave me will probably last me anywhere from a few months to a year but it’s hard to say yet since I haven’t even filled the first bag. Replacements: the website offers replacements for all the parts you could need which is genuinely a relief in case something stopped working, you don’t have to buy a whole new unit. So yeah, this is my honest overall review of the product. I wanted to share because I don’t see enough about it online and felt that it needed a full review that was up to date with the current times. If anything changes, I’ll be sure to edit this post and add any new information. Currently I have the box set to manual clean only and just sit by it a few times a day to check in on everything and clean it while my cats adjust to the new box. This is meant to help people who want or need the ease of use with an automatic box and can’t find any information.
