Help Me Decorate My Bedroom
I just bought a house and it was very beige and beige is just not me, but I am realizing as I am doing this that I have no idea what I’m doing. I’m an adult and when I look at this room, it looks like a child’s room. Please help me decorate this room so that it looks like a mature adult room. I was trying to go for an eclectic/boho vibe and the rest of the house is going to be moody, jewel tones as well. I have painted the guest bedroom a dusty rose. And now I’m struggling with how I’m going to tie it all together and make it look like an adult lives here.😭 submitted by /u/Sincerely_WTF to r/HomeDecorating [link] [comments]

I have no idea how to decorate
Idk what tag to put sorry. We bought this house a year and a half ago. The bedroom is my least favorite room in the house. We’ve changed the color of the walls and got rid of the carpet pretty much immediately. The bedframe and TV stand were also purchased after buying the house, so those have to stay. I know the go to is curtains, rug, and wall art to tie a room together, but nothing is already working in the room. The wall color I chose sucks. I would love this room to be a place I love going to relax and wind down, but I have no idea where to start. It’s oddly shaped, hence the corner TV stand. I have no idea what colors to pick. What furniture to add. Should it all be wood like the bedframe? Or should they be colorful? Should I go for a more muted wall paint?? It would be great to have some insight or guidance. Help would be so very very appreciated!! :) Edit: I passed out before I could really read most of the comments. But some really good ideas were shared! I never thought about changing out the light bulbs in the fan. I am for sure going to start there. Two people gave some great mock ups using AI that I appreciated and gave me some ideas that I was struggling with before. Folks have asked me what my vibe is or what I would like to do direction wise and that’s always been a struggle for me. I’ve used Pinterest and kinda just get overwhelmed with all the ideas there. That’s why I’m glad folks here have made such great suggestions. I’m saving my post and going to start decorating, slowly, with some new eyes But I’ve got something to start with. I’m going to check out some new light bulbs after work and beigey colors as that suggestion really resonated with me. And to save on cost, I may paint strip the dresser, maybe I’ll stain it this time. It should be pretty easy, considering my cat scapes it off very easily. Hopefully I can come back with a more cohesive room to show you guys. submitted by /u/chinnychinchinchin1 to r/interiordecorating [link] [comments]

Hello! I will be moving into this studio unit next month and have no clue on decorating and setting up a room. Can you give me good but affordable ideas? I have not yet bought furnitures. I was also planning to have some kind of division between the kitchen and my “bedroom”. Thank you! :)

My own bedroom again after 9 years
A bit nervous to share, but this is my bedroom in the apartment I moved into a month ago. I’m in my early 30s, separated from my husband (amicable but I still feel very sad about it) and moved out with zero bedroom furniture. I haven’t felt this low in a long time, so focusing on creating a comfortable space and browsing this subreddit have been welcome distractions. Also, I haven’t had a room this colourful EVER so it’s still a bit shocking to me when I wake up here!. Although I like the idea of buying second-hand and slowly collecting decor over time, I didn’t want to be living in a half-furnished place when my life already feels like it’s in limbo. So I planned the layout and furnished the room (actually, the whole apartment) within about two weeks. Unfortunately this means that 90% of the room is whatever was in IKEA this season, so it feels pretty generic and trendy— but it’s a cozy, feminine place that makes me feel good, and that’s what matters. There are still some things I want to change or add, but I have slowed down now and am happy to do the rest at a calmer pace. The room is pretty small so the storage under the bed is crucial. In one picture you can see that it’s where I keep my climbing/camping/hiking gear, and on the other side of the bed I have another drawer with clothes and I even use a drawer as a nightstand (not pictured). TBH I should have got a single bed given the size of the room, but I love my double bed that I can stretch out on. At the end I included a couple of pictures of what it looked like when all I had was a mattress on the floor :’) Oh, also, it’s a rental and I don’t want to bother with painting, so I convinced myself that I like the oatmeal-coloured walls. Anyway, if you have any feedback I’d be interested to hear it :) submitted by /u/LittleMy3 to r/femalelivingspace [link] [comments]

I have been slowly decorating our bedroom and would like input on a few things.
I've provided two photos with the overhead light out cuz that's how it normally is but doesn't show great detail for all angles, so the rest of the photos have the ceiling light on. I tried every possible arrangement of our bed and that big ass wardrobe, the current locations were the best possible options. It's just an awkwardly sized bedroom. The small hallway is mainly what makes it awkward. We are working on replacing all switches and outlets with black. Already did it in my living room, and I love the contrast. I just finished putting those shelves up today and don't have much to put on them yet. I'm open to ideas! I know the shoe rack has got to go. It's very cluttered. But I'm not sure what to put in its place yet. Shoes would end up in the closets. The wardrobe is too big. I will replace it eventually. Im not sure I even need a whole ass wardrobe, there's not much in it. I'm thinking just a stand for my geckos cage would suffice, and anything that's in the wardrobe can be stored in whatever I put under the TV. The lamp... my current side table lamp is too big for the table, and I want something that POPs. I absolutely love that mushroom lamp. I'm just concerned it would clash instead of being a pop of color. Note: I don't like picture-perfect magazine homes. I want decent composition, functionality, and cozy. I like that my home looks lived in. I like my decorations to be limited to things that really bring me joy, like my alien head planter♡ and possibly that overpriced lamp, haha! I know there are other areas of just general design improvements that I can probably add to my to do list. My budget, energy, and abilities are limited, but hell man, let me hear yalls suggestions! EDIT: Holy shit yall have been so helpful! I knew there were things that could be done better, but I was struggling to really put my finger on some of it! Y'all have given me so many great tips, and I'm really excited to start planning some of it out. Lesson learned on the shelves for sure 😅 jumped the gun a bit there. When I've made more significant changes, I would love to share the results and possibly get more input. Thanks again everyone♡ submitted by /u/Baggle-Me-Fingies to r/HomeDecorating [link] [comments]

How do I make this awkward bedroom more cozy and appealing
I have this awkward shaped bedroom with slanted ceiling. Any ideas on how yo decorate and make it more cozy? I do own the house so almost all option are on the table. The ceiling is only 6.5 ft tall in the center. So carpet and paint will be happening. The little doors are access to the crawl space/attic. submitted by /u/sgentes2 to r/malelivingspace [link] [comments]

AITA for not allowing others to use “my office”
I (27F) rent a house with 2 other girls Tessa (26F) and Charlie (31F). It’s a 5 bed 3 bath with a finished basement, it’s in a pretty nice neighborhood and we got it for a steal so we’ve been here a couple years. Onto the issue, I work from home and Tessa has a hybrid schedule. When we all moved in Charlie wanted us to pay more rent since we would be setting up offices in the 2 spare rooms. The basement is finished so we offered for her to set up a space just for her down there, but she didn’t like the idea of being banished to the basement (her words). So Tessa and I both agreed to pay a little more rent. However, my condition was my office was not to be a shared space. Tessa didnt care about if other people use her room, but this pissed off Charlie. Charlie started arguing with me about what if she has guests and what if she needs to use an office space for something. Tessa tried to diffuse and said her office could be a mixed use room but that wasn’t good enough for Charlie. After a little back and forth she agreed to the terms and it wasn’t really brought up again for over a year. Well Charlie now has 2 friends coming in from Europe to stay for a couple weeks. She gave Tessa and me a heads up the other morning, fine with us we love having people come stay at the house sometimes too. She then slipped in that they’ll need to stay in both our offices since she doesn’t want them to have to put up with staying in the same room. I reminded her of my conditions of paying the extra rent and all hell broke loose. She called me self centered and a possessive weirdo and stormed off huffing. Even without the boundary, I can’t just give up my office for a couple weeks. I would have to move my whole set up to my bedroom, and I have a job that requires me to have multiple screens going with the type of work I do. Tessa is wanting to keep the peace and offered to help me set up something in my bedroom and that maybe I should just drop it. This is really the only issue we’ve ever had, it’s been a great roommate experience otherwise. That has me wondering if maybe I’m not being adaptable enough? So, AITA? Edit: okay I really didn’t think this was gonna be a popular post since it’s just a roommate squabble. Im seeing a lot of the same questions so: Total rent is 1800, Charlie pays 500, Tessa and I each pay 650. We split all utilities 3 ways except internet, Tessa and I split that since we need it to be high speed. The house is about 1600 sq ft without the basement, i cant remember the exact square footage of the basement. The offices are the smallest rooms, and I could technically move my desk into my bedroom. However moving my setup to the basement would take extra work as my desk wouldn’t fit down the stairs. Charlie does not want her guests in the basement because it’s not as nice as the rest of the house, and I think it might be because my office and Tessa’s offices are pretty cute, we’ve decorated them pretty well. submitted by /u/Past_Yak_9832 to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

Ideas for styling this corner of my bedroom?
Currently designing my bedroom with a Scandi / minimal style, and I’m now at the stage where I’m thinking about cosy lighting (and maybe small decor pieces). I was considering adding an IKEA FADO lamp on top of the chest of drawers, but I’m not sure if the area needs anything else. Maybe a plant (real or fake) as well? I'm looking to achieve that evening cosy lighting look that is popular. I want to keep the space minimal and uncluttered, so I don’t want to overdo it. There’s also some empty space to the right of the chest of drawers — at the moment I just keep my work bag and gym bag there. Do you think that area could be used better? For context, my desk is just to the right of the photo, where the wall outlets are. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated! submitted by /u/Mumford_and_Dragons to r/interiordesignideas [link] [comments]

My roommate of one month wanted me to do therapy with him as a condition for inviting friends over to the apartment
TLDR: met someone who i thought was a good match but ended up not being a match in the most alarming way. He wanted me to do therapy with him, and would say and do the most bizarre things. Sharing this in celebration of him finally moving out. A couple months ago I sublet the spare room in my NYC apt to someone (34,M) I met on Reddit. i have lived in the apartment for 5 years now. Problems started almost immediately after he moved in. One of the main issues was that he arrived with a significant amount of shared-space items that he had never mentioned before. Not only did they not fit in the apartment, but he also began rearranging things and moving my items and furniture without asking... He started directing where things in the apartment should go and placing decorative objects in areas of practical spaces. The breaking point for me was when he placed a tray of several large vintage crystal decanters and wine glasses directly on the center of the small kitchen island as decoration (this is in NYC and the island is where I cook). The decanters were large, fragile, and took up most of the space. I told him that while they were beautiful, they couldn’t stay there because i need the counter space. I also hated the idea of the apartment being alcohol-centric to put it on display on the kitchen island. This upset him quite a lot and led to a series of increasingly intense conversations about fairness, "gracefulness", communication and our relationship as roommates. During one of these discussions he asked if I would be willing to go to therapy with him. At this point he had lived in the apartment for barely a month. To say I was shocked, shooketh and gagged would be an understatement of last year, but I kept a poker face and said I was open to the idea if it helped resolve tensions, mostly hoping he wouldn’t actually bring it up again. 15 minutes later he returned back to the topic of therapy and asked me a follow-up question; he asked me if I had agreed to therapy only because he had suggested it, or whether I would have independently thought of therapy myself. In other words, I think he knew how crazy the idea of therapy sounded and wanted me to validate him furthermore after I had said that I am open to the idea of therapy. This probing made me come to the slow and scary realization about him. He is a person of extreme intensity who constantly analyzes, calculates, questions, and interrogates every interaction. He would ask me similar questions to measure my intentions and morals, but frame them as "just trying to understand what you meant/ understand you better, why would you think the worst of me??". I would always feel probed and examined under a microscope as you can see above. It was exhausting. This was also a source of our tensions as I look back on it. After that discussion we spent the next two weeks mostly quiet, civil but not socializing. Then Halloween weekend came around and a friend asked if they could come over to stay with me. She has visited me every year before him in the apartment. I checked with my roommate first to make sure he was okay with it out of courtesy despite the clear guest policies. This prompted the response in the screenshot. I even compromised to him in return by telling him that she will exclusively stay in my bedroom which has its own bathroom, so that he won’t be bothered by her presence. I planned to bring her water and food from the kitchen if needed be. He still found a problem with it, claiming that I have control issues and that there was no point in asking him anything if I was going to do whatever I wanted to do in the apartment. The crazy thing is that I gave in and did the therapy with him, and regretfully regretted it. He exploded into bursts of rants in therapy and the therapist did little to no help claiming « nobody is right or wrong » . I distanced myself as far away as possible from him after, worried he would lash out to me. Some of the other bizarre/outrageous things he did: - He posted on part of his reddit apartment search that he prefers not to live with people who are on psychiatric meds. He also asked me if I was on psych meds when we met the first time and explained that he does not prefer to live with someone taking psych meds. It seemed like he had a bad experience. I agreed with him, saying that while I respect people who take psych meds, I would prefer not to live with them if possible but that it's not something I actively screen for. A month into his move in, I found prescription bottles of Escitalopram and other anxiety meds in his name lying around. - While we were hanging out shortly after he moved, I once told him in passing "... blah blah since I tend to be an introvert". He told me he actually didn’t appreciate that I hadn’t disclosed that I am an introvert when we met, and said that if he had known I was an introvert he might have made different choices about moving in. When I asked what he meant by that, he said : Him: "Well, I am a 100% extrovert, and I didn't want us to be passing ships in the night, and expected this to be... sort of a Golden Girls situation where we are close together." Me: "... Well, I am sorry if you feel that my introversion is something I should have announced to you, but that does not mean I won't spend time with you at all but rather that I do need some time alone from time to time with myself to recover and reflect. So if you would like to spend time and hang out with me like we are now, just tell me or ask and I can let you know if I am free". I kid you not, he said : "Well...... I am not sure if I like that, because I don't like to put myself in a position where I am being told yes or no" Me: "😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀 ....... So if you have a work obligation or any other obligation, and if I ask you to drop whatever you are obligated to and hang out with me non-stop 24/7, are you saying that you will do it? Is that what you are also expecting me to do? While he did not answer me yes, he also did not answer me no and had to think about the answer before diverting to another topic!!! I never really truly understood his nature as I had to distance myself from him, so please let me know if I missed something clearly obvious from him. Anyway, he finally moved out. Here’s to hoping I won’t have to do therapy with the next one!! Stay safe out there! submitted by /u/nightshade_45 to r/badroommates [link] [comments]

After/Before - 34F, Seven months in my very own(ed) apartment. Still haven’t managed to figure out wall decor/shelving. Feel free to throw ideas!
I live here with my swedish vallund, Atlas (9M). Above my dining table I am holding out for a norwegian mid-century Veggen De Luxe shelving system, hoping I can find one to thrift as near everything here is thrifted. As for the other walls I am using the nail holes from the previous owners, maybe wanting to do one eccentric collage wall, but unsure if I want it above the TV or the wall between the the sofa and TV. My biggest concern is honestly dust and not wanting too many surfaces for that to maintain. Rug size is limited due to the bedroom door being too low, or else I would have e gotten a size up! I still can’t place my finger on what is missing, so I am open for ideas! I own the place and initially wanted yellow tiles behind my countertop, but now I think I might go for a ochre or terracotta paint instead. submitted by /u/flawdorable to r/femalelivingspace [link] [comments]

Decorating ideas for bedroom?
What could I do to spruce up my bedroom? It feels a little dull / flat. I’m thinking of adding a warm red rug and curtains. Anything else or any other suggestions ? submitted by /u/Big-Jackfruit8062 to r/interiordesignideas [link] [comments]

How would you decorate my bedroom?
We’re redecorating our bedroom. I’m torn between bold colours or a green earthy vibe (the rest of our home is green though and I’d like a different colour). For bold: what wallpaper would you put above the bed/ what kind of bedspread to match? For green: add some plant pictures and keep it white, add green pillows throw to the bed. Would love ideas of bedding/ pictures/ plant hanging ideas. We’re keeping the jitney paneling behind the bed. Painting the rest of the walls white. Putting up paneling opposite the bed and are going to have a gallery wall. The wardrobe is now an IKEA white/ sliding doors. Given our cottage vibes, how would you decorate? Please explain and link any ideas! I’m not a natural decorator! submitted by /u/sexiisarahhhh to r/HomeDecoratingUK [link] [comments]

Bedroom Ideas Please!
Would love to get some fresh perspectives on our bedroom design and layout. I love our bedroom but I’m feeling a bit stuck about where to start. We haven’t done much since moving in apart from adding the shelf above the bed. The previous owners painted the one wall dark blue and I don’t love it, feels a bit heavy for my taste. We don’t have closet doors so our stuff is so visible and I want the space to feel less noisy. We’re not married to any of the furniture in here except our bed and the dresser. Anything else could go somewhere else in the house. I love the big windows, the way we can see the trees and feel a little “away from it all”. I love our big rug (from my childhood home) and I love our shelf above the bed. I love how spacious the room feels. I want to keep the “tree house” feel I get from the space, if that makes sense, hah! I thought about doing cream colored ceiling hung curtains over the closets but that might feel a bit heavy too from all the fabric. Thought about adding a reading nook. Thought a lime wash paint on the walls in light blue tones to pull out some light blues from the rug. The room has two entry points so we also talked about keeping the entry closest to the large dresser, and dry-walling over the other entry to create a wall and enclose the space a bit more. I’m not sure how I feel about that yet! Mostly just looking for other ideas and considerations. I’m attaching a few other photos of areas in our house that I like, to give a bit more context on our style! submitted by /u/Bright-Broccoli-8482 to r/interiordecorating [link] [comments]

Neighbor complains about grilling smells
I have this old, cranky neighbor who is entitled she thinks owns the street. We do not live in HOA. She yells at anyone who parks in front of her house (which is public street parking, btw). She left a note for our other neighbor across the street to not park in front of her house earlier this week. A few years ago, she complained because we grilled steaks in our backyard. She even called the cops on us for “having a party” when it was just our family of four grilling dinner in the backyard. The cops came and were like “we don’t see a problem or a party.” None of our other neighbors complains when we grill but she will complain each time we grill which isn’t often, probably once every couple months? Today she just sent an email complaining about grilling again, except we haven’t even been in the backyard or grilled for months (Note: I am 8 months pregnant and well done steak is criminal to me) I’m pretty sure it’s actually another neighbor grilling, but she still blamed us. Honestly, I’m so annoyed I’m thinking of getting petty and making grilled dinners a weekly thing just because. I even told my husband I’ll buy him a smoker if he wants to join in my petty parade. So WIBTA if I go full petty and grill every week just to annoy her? Any legal actions can she take on me for enjoying a grilling meal on my property? Or any other ideas to be more petty? Edit 1: Wow, didn’t think this would blow up! Glad to see Reddit fully supports my petty era. 😂 For everyone asking why she even has my email….this woman has been unhinged since day one. She complains about everything….even stuff that’s 100% legal and none of her business. She loves snooping by looking over our fence to critique our plants or decorations we put up in our backyard on our property. She sent photos from her 2nd floor bedroom about things she sees in yard. Years ago, every time we parked in front of her house, multiple cars got mysteriously keyed, including visitors, until we put up cameras by our garage. Then the keying magically stopped. So we never caught the culprit but we have a feeling who it might be. The actual reason for emails communication was when she lied to the cops that she called, playing the “sweet old lady” card and saying we were rude, aggressive, vulgar, and flipped her off. Of course the cop believe her and told us to be nice to elderly lady and did not listen to our side of the story. None of it happened, so from then on I told her all communication had to be in writing/email so I had proof if I needed to take legal actions. Good thing I did, because about 10 years ago she straight up tried to blackmail me for $800 cash, claiming our home fumigation was ruining her “health.” Lawyers got involved, she backed off for a while… but now she’s back at it a couple years ago. In 2025 alone, she’s already sent me over 20 complaint emails. All about bbq, her plants dying because of our bbq smoke is “killing” her plants in dead smack winter. I normally ignored her emails except today I took to reddit to ask for advice. And all of you did not disappoint. Thanks for all your support and dinner ideas, I do have a smoker bookmarked and ready to hit purchase. 😂 Edit 2: Had to update but she thinks the charcoal is causing “air pollution” and killing her roses garden. Reminder we have not BBQ in 8 months. submitted by /u/enormouslydull to r/neighborsfromhell [link] [comments]

Nobody I know gets the vision 😓
Ok I’m trying to furnish and decorate my new apartment with a very limited budget so I’ve been scouring FB Marketplace and I found this gorgeous bedframe for free but everyone I know hates it and tells me to just get an IKEA bedframe with storage drawers. I do see the practicality of the IKEA frame but also I hate the idea of everything being from IKEA like in every other apartment in the whole goddamn world!!! (I’m special and different and not like other girls 😭😭😭!) Can someone please tell me if this is a bad idea or not doable - I’ve attached some of the inspiration I had for this bedroom, including a collage I made. submitted by /u/Alarechercheduneame to r/femalelivingspace [link] [comments]

Any decor ideas for my (26M) bedroom?
I'm new to interior design–I didn't have the headspace or money to focus on it initially, but I now realize how important it is for my day-to-day mood and would like to decorate my walls and bedroom to bring a little more color into the room. I thinking about replacing the TV, stand, and lamps with MCM-leaning options and am getting a white Eames lounge chair and ottoman in the corner next to the window/TV. Also will get rid of the striped duvet cover and gray curtains once I have more ideas on accent colors :) My current room feels quite locked into the black and gray theme with the choice of bed/nightstands, and any new pieces I think of adding end up contributing more to this fatigue (see below). Any thoughts on what else I can do to add more color to my bedroom? Lastly, any thoughts on decorating with hobbies and passions in mind? I am into cars, coffee, tennis, and DJing. I don't need every piece I decorate my room with to fit that mold, but I do wonder how y'all like to balance decor like the Porsche metal art (last picture) with more traditional framed art. Read some older posts and saw there’s definitely a way to go overboard with this especially with partners in the mix–but this room is just for me at the moment lol submitted by /u/FoundationTimely5955 to r/interiordecorating [link] [comments]

AITA For telling my husband that my stepdaughter can’t return home until she pays my daughter back
I (30 f) have a 14 year old daughter Leia. Married my husband Mark (46 M) 6 years ago. He has two children from a previous marriage Koi (16 M) and Coral (14f). Me and Mark have the kids full time but his kids live with their mom for a few weeks during the summer. They moved into my lake house which has five bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms upstairs have bathrooms. My daughter had one of those rooms. But as the girls began high school Coral began complaining about not having a bathroom and said it’s unfair. Mark and Koi told her to stop complaining. Leía said it was fine and asked us if she could turn the basement into her room. I didn’t like that idea but she begged. So I agreed. Turns out my daughter wanted a room makeover so this worked out. We give the kids allowance and allowed them to get a work permit. Koi worked at an arcade and told the girls he could get them jobs. Coral refused to work but Leia agreed. After five months of saving her allowance, she able to buy everything she needed to decorate. Coral never bothered to go down there because she believed it was full of spiders, but Koi was down there everyday helping her. After a week she completely transformed the basement. She invited everyone down, and it was stunning. I didn’t even know that computer towers could be clear. She looked so proud. Coral then screamed that it wasn’t fair and that she wanted the basement now. Everyone began yelling at her but she began crying and before we know it she ran over to the computer and threw the tower on the ground. The glass shattered and one of the monitors fell to the floor also breaking. My daughter cried. I explained to Mark that Coral has to pay for this. He said her emotions are just high and that we’ll get situated when everything calms down. I ran to Coral and yelled saying that she’s on punishment. Mark didn’t agree but I didn’t care. Coral was unnecessarily crying, and ran to her mothers car. Koi was trying to help my daughter, and Mark tried to hand her 300 dollars but Koi explained that Coral caused about a thousand dollars worth of damages. He said luckily the expensive pieces in the case were saved, but the case itself was about 450 and the monitor was 200. Mark explained that he doesn’t have that kind of money. So I said she can’t come back until my daughters stuff is repaired with a sincere apology. Koi agreed and mark was upset saying he couldn’t do that to his daughter. I told him to leave if that’s the case. Mark left for a few hours and handed my daughter a check for 1000 dollars. I explained that Coral can’t come back if there is no punishment. My husband’s ex wife is saying that I’m banning her from our home because she didn’t deserve that bigger space and that we were treating Coral unfairly. But I said she did that there was nothing unfair about the situation. The Ex just hung up. Now my husband’s ex in laws are bombarding him with phone calls saying he’s a horrible dad. His sister even said he’s being a bad parent and they’re best friends so it’s really getting to him. This happened last night and he hasn’t gotten up yet. Should I apologize? AITA for telling my girlfriend that my loyalties lie with my baby brother?
My little brother recently moved in with me. It was a huge shock at first, my brother (Will, 17) is FTM. I (M34) had no idea he was trans or even questioning his gender, he always seemed perfectly happy as a girl, y'know he was very feminine presenting and all. Turns out he came out to our parents after getting his hair cut and they didn't take it well in the slightest. From what he's told me, he wasn't exactly kicked out, they just started being unbearable. They were calling him 'Myla' in every sentence they said (just to annoy him i suppose), mum kept booking him in for appointments to get hair extensions and his lashes done, our da didn't let him wear the male uniform to sixth form and so on. It got so bad that he literally took a train from down south to up the north to ask if he could live with me. Of course, I said yes. The house is big enough to have him live there, there's four bedrooms and an attic room. My girlfriend (Nico, 32) was irritated when she found out. We've discussed her moving in before Will came and now she's telling me that she will not move in until Will leaves. I've explained to her that Will isn't a child we'd have to constantly supervise, that if anything he's the one making the place more liveable (he's very insistent on adding on to the home decor and so on, as well as being better than me at cleaning.), and that the house is large enough to still have privacy even with him around. Nico's argued that it's not truly 'ours' if Will is always there, that we won't be able to start trying to concieve, that she's not willing to live with a 'hormonal and rebellious' teenager and that she's just flat out uncomfortable with Will being near her and living with her and her son (M10) in the same home. Ultimately, I've told her that my loyalties lie with my baby brother, who is homeless and vulnerable, unlike the grown woman with a good paying job and a home of her own. She's called my mum up to complain about it and she's said that i was in the wrong for prioritizing Will, and Will himself said that he doesn't want to be 'causing problems' in my relationship. update : https://www.reddit.com/user/mourrningglory/comments/19aubaa/aita\_for\_telling\_my\_gf\_my\_loyalties\_lie\_with\_my/ submitted by /u/mourrningglory to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]
