Repair shop broke more things while fixing my phone — should I demand a refund and go to Apple? Iphone 16 Pro Max
Looking for advice. My 16 pro max back glass shattered. Googled repair shops and found one with ~100 reviews and a 5-star rating. Called to confirm they had my color and paid $213 for the repair (probably should’ve just gone to Apple). Timeline: • Pickup #1: They say the replacement back in my color cracked during install, so they temporarily used a different color but could order the right one “within an hour.” I leave the phone. • Pickup #2: Correct color installed, but I notice fingerprints under the camera cover and smudges on the camera lens. They reopen the phone to clean it, kinda rushed as I was in the store. • At home: Flash no longer works. • Next day: I bring it back and explain I’m frustrated. They take another hour and say it’s fixed. Flash works again, but now the rings around the cameras look scratched (see pic, my phone on left, wife’s exact same on right). • Driving away: Cameras won’t focus at all. I call them again. They say they’ll order a new camera module and replace it at their cost (3 days wait). Later that night I notice the outer camera lens cover is loose and literally flips open (see pic). I send them a video. They say they’ll replace the camera and the back again and “start from scratch.” Parts are supposedly arriving today. At this point the original issue was just back glass, and now it seems the camera system may be damaged after multiple repairs? The guy is trying to fix it, but every time I get the phone back something else is wrong. What would you do? Let them attempt the repair again Ask for a refund and go to Apple Something else submitted by /u/trustmessy to r/phonerepair [link] [comments]

From iPhone 16 Pro to Oppo Find X9 Pro: A 60-Day Honest Retrospective
Two Months with the Find X9 Pro: A Perspective from an iPhone User (Who Still Rock an iPhone 16 Pro on the Side) Battery Despite the massive 7500mAh capacity, it is currently a struggle to stretch the battery life beyond a single day. Initially, it could comfortably last a day and a half. Charging feels rather lethargic now, despite the 80W rating, whereas it was blazing fast right out of the box. UI The scrolling exp is incredibly responsive. The display is luminous and excels in outdoor visibility, keeping thermals in check without significant overheating even when pushing high brightness. Performance There are non issues with lag, jitter, or freezing. app launch speeds are undeniably flagship-tier. Price point might seem steep relative to the chipset used, but Oppo devices generally command a premium even in their mid-range segment Camera To be honest, while the still images often surpass the iPhone in quality, they suffer from inconsistency. Shots tend to be underexposed, especially if facial detection fails. It often requires manual intervention like tapping to focus and tweaking the EV or brightness. In contrast, the iPhone is the epitome of "point-and-shoot" reliability, delivering results that are always on point. As for video, the iPhone is leagues ahead. Why Oppo? There is plenty more I could cover, but I’ll leave it at that for now. Why did I choose this over the Samsung S25 Ultra or Vivo X300 Pro? Based on forum discussions and YouTube reviews, Oppo’s UI bears a striking resemblance to iOS. I chose this to ensure the transition to Android (known for its open ecosystem and customization) wasn't too jarring. It’s not that I’m incapable of moving on from the iPhone, but for a first foray, I wanted to avoid a steep learning curve. Many suggest that for iPhone users migrating to Android, Oppo and ColorOS offer the most seamless bridge. submitted by /u/faizilaman87 to r/Oppo [link] [comments]

iPhone 16 Pro Max tempered glass screen protectors fits perfectly on the Oppo Find X9 Pro
Don't ask me why, it just did lol. This is an iPhone 16 Pro Max tempered glass screen protector, retrofitted into the Find X9 Pro, everything aligned perfectly, the speaker grill cover is the only point of difference but it sits low so it probably doesn't matter much If you fit a tempered glass protector on, I suggest re-enrolling fingerprint for the best detection submitted by /u/Seraphic_Wings to r/Oppo [link] [comments]

Bought an iPhone 16 pro “new and sealed” from Noon - Apple confirmed it has non-original internal parts
Update: After posting this, Noon got back to me, promised a refund, and quickly started the process. I received full support throughout and the whole process was simple and straightforward. Once the device was picked up from me, the refund was issued without any delay. I’m keeping the post up because many people shared similar experiences in the comments, and it’s good for awareness, but I want to highlight that Noon resolved my case efficiently and professionally. (Original Post Below) I wanted to share my experience so others can double-check their purchases. Shortly after the iPhone 16 Pro was released, I bought one from Noon (International Version). It was sold as new and sealed and looked completely authentic when I received it. I never repaired or modified it in any way. After a few months of normal use, a dead pixel appeared on the screen. I took it to Apple’s authorized service center in Dubai while it was still under warranty. Apple refused the repair and provided a written service summary confirming that the device contained non-original internal parts and had been opened before, meaning it was likely refurbished or tampered with before I ever owned it. I filed a complaint with Noon, provided Apple’s official report when they asked for it, and waited more than a week. Their reply was polite but generic, they apologized for the inconvenience, said the case was “being reviewed,” and gave me a complaint number but no actual update or resolution. Now it’s been nine days since I first submitted my complaint to Noon, and I’ve escalated the matter to the Dubai Consumer Protection Department under the Ministry of Economy. The seller on my invoice was Bandidos Retail L.L.C., which I later noticed mentioned in other Reddit posts for similar issues. I’d be interested to know if anyone else has dealt with this seller or had a comparable experience with Noon. Posting this to raise awareness and to highlight how important it is to only buy electronics from official retailers. submitted by /u/Pharaodiv to r/dubai [link] [comments]

My kid wants the iPhone 17 after just getting the 16 Pro a few months ago. How do I say no without being "the worst parent ever"?
So my 15yo has been obsessively dropping hints about the iPhone 17 since the day Apple announced it. The thing is, they literally got the iPhone 16 Pro for their birthday just 8 months ago. The phone is pristine, works perfectly, has all the fancy features they begged for last year, and cost me an arm and a leg. But according to my teen, the 17 has "way better cameras" and "everyone at school is getting one" and they're going to be "so embarrassed" with their "old phone." Last night they even suggested I could sell their current phone to offset the cost, and offered to contribute their summer job money (which might cover maybe 20% if I'm being generous). I've tried explaining that we don't upgrade perfectly good technology every single cycle, especially expensive phones that were positioned as "investments" just months ago. I've pointed out how their current Pro model is still higher-end than what most kids have. But all I get is eye-rolling and daily updates about which friend's parents "actually care about them" enough to buy the newest model. Am I being completely unreasonable? How do other parents handle this tech upgrade treadmill? I want to teach financial responsibility but also remember how important social status felt at that age. Any advice for talking points that might actually sink in with a phone-obsessed teen? Or creative compromises that won't make me feel like I'm being manipulated? submitted by /u/Cool-Ordinary5751 to r/AskParents [link] [comments]

Almost got scammed by an Ekart delivery guy while buying an iPhone 16 Pro — beware if you're in Pune (New Sangavi area)!
So this happened yesterday and I feel like I barely dodged a scam. Posting here so others don’t get trapped. I ordered an iPhone 16 Pro from Flipkart, with an exchange offer for my old iPhone. Seemed like a smooth deal until delivery day. The delivery guy flat-out refused to deliver to my address, saying I’d have to pick it up from their warehouse, otherwise he’d cancel the order. When I reached the warehouse, he kept insisting he didn’t have my package, saying maybe “someone else took it.” He even pretended to search for the delivery guy who could have taken it. When I kept calling the delivery number 10-20 times nobody was picking up when I saw it was going to his phone only. A helpful warehouse worker overheard us and decided to check the guy’s bags himself and yep, my phone was sitting right there. He had even tried to scratch off my name and address from the box label to make it look like it wasn’t mine. During the exchange check, the guy devalued my old phone, saying it didn’t meet the criteria, and straight-up told me to pay him the 4000 meanwhile he rejected the exchange entirely from my phone and sent the Flipkart payment UPI to one of his friends through Whatsapp in front of my eyes texting "1 ghante me daal de". So that he could take my old phone for himself for 4000. He was basically trying to scam both me and Flipkart at the same time. Here’s the really scary part — he delivered the new iPhone to me without even asking for the OTP that Flipkart usually requires for confirmation. That means he could’ve easily marked it as undelivered or cancelled later and maybe pocketed it himself. Which honestly makes me think this guy has been running this scam for a while, and maybe even has someone on the inside at Flipkart helping cover it up, his friend who he texted most likely. Ultimately he ended up forgetting about the money as many people were there to get their orders, and that's when I escaped. After all this, he’s been calling and texting me non-stop, even sending threats. I’ve filed a complaint with Flipkart and shared his number, but it’s honestly alarming how easily a delivery agent can manipulate the system like this. Just a few takeaways for everyone: Never hand over cash or agree to anything off the Flipkart app. Always verify OTP before handing over or taking delivery. If a delivery person says “come pick it up,” don’t do it — call Flipkart support immediately. And if you have to meet them, don’t go alone. I brought two of my friends and caused a ruckus there otherwise I wouldn't even have found my order. Thanks to the guy who found it. If that one warehouse worker hadn’t stepped in, I might’ve lost both phones and my money. Flipkart seriously needs to investigate what’s going on with their Ekart delivery system — because this felt way too organized to be a one-time thing. TL;DR: Ordered an iPhone 16 Pro from Flipkart with an exchange for my old iPhone. The Ekart delivery guy in New Sangavi, Pune, refused to deliver to my address, tried to hide my package, scratched my name off the box, and asked me to pay him the exchange amount in cash so he could take my old phone for himself. He even delivered the new iPhone without asking for the OTP. I somehow managed to get phone without paying. Now he’s been threatening me over calls and texts. Feels like part of a bigger scam, maybe with help from someone inside Flipkart. submitted by /u/Z_jamBoney to r/Flipkart [link] [comments]

Decided to go with iPhone 17 instead of 17 Pro/16 Pro — feels like best value
Ater watching a ton of reviews and comparing all the options, I finally decided to go with the iPhone 17 (256 GB). Thanks to a friend with Apple employee discount, my effective price comes to ~₹68K. I was initially considering the iPhone 16 Pro (if I got lucky in a sale around ₹80K) and also tempted by the iPhone 17 Pro (~₹1.11L). But after looking closely: The iPhone 17 covers 90–95% of what the Pro offers (same main and ultra-wide cameras, new A19 chip, ProMotion 120Hz, better brightness, bigger battery). The 17 Pro only adds telephoto zoom, more RAM, and slightly better sustained performance. Great, but not worth spending ~₹45K extra in my case. 16 Pro was another option, but honestly, the 17 feels like a smarter buy: newer chip, better efficiency, longer support, and I’m not even sure I’ll find it at ₹80K given the demand. At ~₹68K, the iPhone 17 (256 GB) feels like more value than any other option. Heading to the store today to pick mine up. submitted by /u/Zealousideal_Day_424 to r/Flipkart [link] [comments]

Switched from Pixel 7 to iPhone 16 Pro: My Observations After a Week of Heavy Use
I've been an Android user for over a decade, with a string of Pixels in recent years. My last iPhone was the iPhone 3 (I think), so it's been a long time. I’ve always liked the flexibility of Android, plus the fact that Google’s ecosystem isn’t closed—meaning, in theory, I could switch to iPhone at any time without too much hassle. But my Pixel 7 had been giving me headaches, especially with Google Messages failing to receive texts in group chats. I don’t know if it was the phone or my carrier, but after months of frustration, I finally gave in. Seeing the sheer number of iPhones around me, plus the way Apple is constantly hyped up in media, I figured—why not? Maybe I was missing out. So, a week ago, I used an upgrade from my carrier to get the iPhone 16 Pro. Here are my thoughts so far: How I Use My Phone I use my phone for both work and personal life, and a lot of that involves typing—emails, messaging across multiple apps, etc. I rely on cross-platform apps like WhatsApp, Gmail, Outlook, Salesforce, and many Google services (Google News, Drive, Keep, Gmail, Maps, YouTube Music, etc.). The Good: Hardware Quality: A really nice piece of hardware. Beautiful, solid, and feels great in hand. The Pro model is a good size—big but not too bulky. Screen: Looks fantastic. No complaints. Camera & Video: Takes excellent shots, and from all accounts, the video quality is top-tier. Dynamic Island: First time hearing about it, but it’s actually pretty cool. Having sports scores and music controls right there is surprisingly useful. Software Touches: Some effects and animations are really smooth—like when scanning a document, it isolates the background and seamlessly moves it into the corner. CarPlay: This surprised me. When catching up on notifications, it gives a natural-language summary of missed messages, which is really nice. The Apple Maps navigation voice and style is very natural and smooth—I actually prefer it to Google Maps. I guess the days of being navigated into a lake are over for Apple Maps! Grouped Notifications: While I still think Android does notifications better, Apple’s grouping and summarization of same-app notifications is intelligently designed and useful. FaceID: When you’re holding the phone, FaceID works perfectly—fast and accurate. However, if the phone is sitting on a desk or table, FaceID often won’t pick up your face unless you awkwardly lean over it. A fingerprint reader would be a really nice option in those situations. Standby Mode: Standby mode at night, with the bedside alarm clock in red, was actually very nice and well-designed. It’s subtle but easy to read at night without being harsh on the eyes. Also, the default iPhone alarm tone is exceptionally pleasing—way better than the jarring tones I’m used to on Android. GenMoji Seems Fun: I didn’t even try it once, but I bet it’s cool for those who are into that sort of thing. The Bad: These aren’t new complaints about iOS, but for someone using it as a main device, they are massive hurdles. The Keyboard is Borderline Unusable. Whether using the stock keyboard or Gboard on iOS, the experience is awful. So many typos, wrong key presses—it’s just bad. The Gboard on my old Pixel 7 was 1000x more accurate and faster to type on. It has been consistently infuriating. I had no idea just how much better the Android keyboard was. Notifications = Anxiety Machine. iPhone is aggressive with notifications—way more than I was used to. On Android, you can easily choose which notifications for a given app should be silent or not, right from the notification itself—just a quick tap and done. On iPhone, it’s a much more laborious process, requiring you to dig into settings manually for each app. This makes it way harder to fine-tune notifications to be useful instead of overwhelming. Speaking of Settings… Why is there a whole app called “Settings” instead of just swiping down and tapping an icon to adjust things quickly? Having to navigate through an app for simple things like Wi-Fi or Bluetooth is an unnecessary step. No App Drawer. This is insane. Instead of a clean app drawer, you have to either search for apps (which is fine but not intuitive) or look through Apple's pre-made categories in the App Library. The grouping seems neat at first glance but ends up being a wild choice in actual use. Why do I have to rely on Apple to decide where my apps go? CarPlay Layout is a Mess. Apple Maps is actually pretty solid now—natural-sounding navigation, accurate directions—but the overall CarPlay interface is clunky compared to Android Auto. If you use Google Maps on CarPlay (without a car screen, just on your phone), you can only get in-app media controls for Spotify or Apple Music—not YouTube Music. Why?? iMessage is Seriously Underwhelming. I was expecting more. RCS on Android does the same thing (minus the blue bubble “exclusivity”), so the fact that Apple has built an entire bullying ecosystem around this feels ridiculous. WhatsApp does all of this and works across devices. No iMessage on a PC? This was a shock. I use a PC for work, and I was stunned to realize that iMessage has no web or Windows version. With Google Messages, WhatsApp, or basically any other modern messaging platform, I could just open a browser and continue conversations while working. With iPhone? Nope. Either use a Mac or be stuck switching between my phone and computer constantly. Transferring Old Messages From Android Was a Nightmare. This was infuriating. There’s no native way to do it, so I had to try a third-party, expensive app—and even that still didn’t work. Homescreen Organization is a Disaster. On Android, I can place apps and widgets where I want—maybe I have a family photo as my wallpaper and don’t want anything covering faces. On iPhone? Move one app and the whole homescreen shifts like a chaotic game of Tetris. If you try to put an app in a folder, it’s like chasing a toddler at bedtime. Just… why? Final Verdict (For Now) All of my complaints seem like they should be obvious to anyone who uses a phone regularly and heavily. The keyboard alone makes the iPhone unusable for anyone who has used a functional mobile keyboard before. The homescreen mess, the notifications anxiety, and the lack of a proper back gesture all add up to an experience that feels polished but deeply inefficient. So, it appears I’ll be switching back to Android—and a Pixel 9 Pro. I’m sure I’ll still have complaints, and yeah, I know some grown adults will keep whining about green bubbles. But… whatever. I need to get stuff done. Would love to hear from others who made the switch (either way). Did you stick with it or go back? Does anybody ever switch any more? submitted by /u/Pucky22 to r/iphone [link] [comments]

What is this very tiny black dot in my iphone 16 pro screen
Is this a dead pixel? Does apple warranty cover this? Never dropped my phone too and it just randomly appeared. I thought it was app specific but it is visible all the time submitted by /u/rhaelkerita to r/iphone [link] [comments]

iPhone 16 pro box delivered empty - Sept 2024
I pre-ordered the new iPhone 16 pro and was pretty excited to see the delivery guy rock up with the package a few days early. As I do, I took a quick look at the other packaging - in this case a brown, paper bag - and it had no damage. I signed for the package and took it inside. I opened the bag and noticed the internal brown box had a small bit of damage at the top. Almost as though it had been slightly crushed during shipment. I used the perforated tear off strip to open the box and found two day planner diaries in the space where the branded iPhone should have been. Apparently, someone in the fulfilment center popped open the top flap and swapped out the phone BEFORE it went to final packaging. I immediately contacted Apple who made me send photos and file a police report. I did all they asked and a few days later received the following email: "We have completed our review with the carrier regarding your shipment and have determined that we are unable to provide a replacement or process a refund." Wow! I did a quick Google search and this is apparently something that happens to quite a few people. I am sure a percentage of those people are thieves that are trying to 'double dip' with Apple, but even taking that into account, there are way too many instances of this sort of thing happening. I am now stuck with an empty box and a big bill. Apple has historically done nothing to help people in this situation, and I am not expecting anything to happen as I start the process of calling and trying to get an escalation. Buyer beware. Apple's fulfilment partners are stealing phones and Apple will NOT reimburse you if your shipment is the one affected. Oh, and by the way, apparently the AppleCare Theft and Loss coverage doesn't cover me here. . . .It has to be a phone that I registered in my name. . .which I cannot do because I never received it. submitted by /u/keysersozay to r/iphone [link] [comments]
