Help! Soaked a mat in my tub with cleaning supplies and now my white tub is yellow. What happened and how do I fix it asap?
I'm an idiot, I know. I wanted to deep clean a bath mat, so I filled the tub with warm water, dumped in some Dawn Powerwash, Pine-Sol, a splash of white vinegar, and a slightly bigger splash of bleach. Let the mat soak maybe 15-30 minutes. Pulled the mat out (it's fine, still good as new), but the tub now has a bright yellow stain all around it. What happened exactly and how do I fix it? I live in an apartment keep in mind so they could've painted the tub before I moved in...idk I'm just trying to figure it out lol! 🤦‍♀️ submitted by /u/mmm01235 to r/askanything [link] [comments]

Spilled like 30 oz of caramel sauce inside a kitchen cabinet. I cleaned up everything I could but it’s dripping through the crevices now. 😭
I’m a renter so I’m scared to take anything apart I may not be able to put back together. My building has a roach problem (they were already here when I moved in, I keep my place very clean), and I’m not trying to give them anything to munch on. Any advice before I just cut my losses and burn the whole building down? EDIT: Oh boy howdy I’m overwhelmed by this. I can’t answer all the comments so I’m just gonna give some info/answer questions here. -First of all, and most importantly, the cat mug is from either TJ Maxx or Marshall’s. My partner and I collect cat mugs and that’s where most of them are from. :) -Second, the puddle in the picture was already cleaned up by the time I posted this, but I appreciate all the suggestions. I used a wad of paper towels to kinda shovel as much as possible into a plastic cup, then wiped up the rest with paper towels, then used Dawn powerwash and a barely damp scrub daddy to clean up the stickiness. I had to do this in the cabinet, on the counter, down the side of the oven, all the way to the floor. It seems to have worked. Nothing feels sticky anymore. -I was actually only asking for suggestions on what to do about it dripping from the joints of the cabinet. However, it only dripped maybe five times from two corners, and that was it. There haven’t been any drips in like 20 hours at this point. -I don’t know what exactly the cabinets are made of, but knowing my landlords/property managers, it’s the cheapest stuff you could possibly buy. So probably particle board. I can’t remove/replace the cabinet because I rent this place. Also because I’m poor lmao. -I know it was stupid to store the bottle on its side. It was too tall to stand in the cabinet and I don’t have the counter space to leave it out. Lesson learned. -This post got so many different answers and people disagreeing that I still don’t know what I’m gonna do lol. Since the dripping seems to be done, I’ll probably try to clean in the cracks as much as I can with rubbing alcohol, paper towels, and a bench scraper, then put silicone caulk over the cracks. Pouring water into the cracks would probably be more effective, but I think that would probably ruin the cabinet. Again, very cheap materials, not mine to replace, very poor. -Pest control comes to my building monthly to spray something for the roaches. They spray inside the cabinets. Thankfully, they’re scheduled to come next week. I’ll tell them what happened and see if they have any suggestions. -Finally, I think only one person commented this, but it pissed me off enough that I’m responding. I was upstairs in the shower while the bottle was spilling, so by the time I saw it, it had been spilling for 30+ minutes already. The four seconds it took me to take a picture was not going to make or break the state of my cabinet. The damage was long past done, I assure you. submitted by /u/ActivityFar178 to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

It’s probably the longest running hyperfixation I’ve ever had. Dawn Powerwash is NOT just Dawn + Alcohol
Dawn Powerwash is not just Dawn soap mixed with alcohol!!! I see this repeated a few times in the sub and it's a bit frustrating. It can be a good weaker DIY solution 100%, but it is not a replacement for the real one. Anyone who has tried the original and the DIY can tell you it is not the same in effectiveness. That being said if the DIY works well for you, you probably don't need powerwash anyways. You can look up the ingredient disclosure and it says that the alcohol is only used to stabilize the formula. Much of the cleaning is because of the surfactants and notably Dipropylene Glycol Butyl Ether acting as a solvent. DGBE is a very good solvent for grease and is notably one of the prominent ingredients/cleaners in fume free oven cleaners. I get where this myth comes from - alcohol is first in the ingredient list. However, to my knowledge, the FDA rule for ingredient list order being from most to least only applies to food, drugs, and cosmetics. So the ingredient order for dawn powerwash is "wrong". This makes a lot of sense, as why is water last in the ingredient list despite the product clearly being mostly water? submitted by /u/gary2245 to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Dawn Powerwash ingredients?
I was always told that the “secret” ingredient in Dawn Powerwash is isopropyl alcohol. All of the guides online that show you how to make your own include the addition of alcohol. While that may be true for regular Powerwash (and is even the first ingredient), my Heavy Duty Powerwash doesn’t seem to include any alcohol at all. In fact, the first ingredient is water. What gives? submitted by /u/EarlOfNothingness to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Pro cleaner tip: how to make your own Dawn Platinum Powerwash refill
I run a small cleaning company in Orlando and we go through a lot of Dawn Powerwash every week. Instead of constantly buying new bottles, we usually just refill them. If you already have the spray bottle, this DIY mix works really well. DIY Dawn Platinum Powerwash Refill Ingredients: ✧ 2 tablespoons Dawn Platinum dish soap ✧ 1 tablespoon rubbing alcohol (70% or higher) ✧ warm water Fill the rest of the bottle with warm water and gently swirl to mix. The alcohol helps break down grease and makes the spray dry faster without leaving streaks. We use this mix constantly for things like: ✧ stovetops ✧ kitchen counters ✧ sinks ✧ grease on cabinets ✧ bathroom surfaces ✧ shower buildup Pro tip: Spray it and let it sit for about 30-60 seconds before wiping. Most people spray and wipe immediately, but giving it a little time helps break down grease and soap scum. Just figured I’d share since those Powerwash refills get expensive submitted by /u/Appropriate_Candy_51 to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Complains about stains while using Dawn Powerwash….
Using Dawn power wash is not a pretreat…… You scrub the stains with the power wash, usually very soon after they’ve happened…. And that takes it out almost immediately. Spraying your clothes with the dish soap and putting them in the washing machine is not going to help… especially clothes with stains days old??? That is not an oxy, clean spray or spray and wash or something. Does she truly not know how to do this submitted by /u/Naaatfffr to r/Drueandgabe [link] [comments]

HOLY GRAIL for shower cleaning - Dawn Powerwash
I cannot find the original person that commented to use Dawn Powerwash on my shower but wow I would give you all the awards. I like having a tidy and clean house but cleaning my shower always makes me want to just burn the house down and collect the insurance money. We have hard water in our house. I loathe cleaning the shower, with a passion. I have tried bleach, scrubbing bubbles, the pink stuff, scrub daddy products, vinegar and baking soda, a steam cleaner, various srubbers and attachments (so much so I actually think I wrecked the bottom plastic pan on the shower). DAWN POWERWASH, get it in the pear/light scent. HOLY GRAIL look at my shower y'all!!! I wish I took before pics but it was bad. Loads of soap grime all over the walls, hard water stains, and that nasty pink mould I can never remember how to spell. I still have more work to do on the bottom pan but my Lord, the rest of the shower took me 30 minutes to scrub it VERY well. I used a scrub daddy, small brush, microfiber cloth, warm water in a jug and a cotton towel to wipe everything down after squeegeeing. I will never use anything else. I did include a final shot of the bottom pan of the shower, if you zoom you can see how I've ruined the finish in spots :( submitted by /u/winnipeggremlin to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Dawn Powerwash - what am I missing?
I had a bottle of Dawn Powerwash for about a year and finally threw it out. I don’t really know what to use it for. Every time I used it, it produced so many suds that it took forever to get it completely wiped up from the surface I was using it on (countertops, stovetop, etc). What am I missing? People love it and I want to love it. Is it better used for some applications vs. others? Help me out, please. ❤️ submitted by /u/Economy-Meeting2462 to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Not anymore. So yeah. Thanks to whoever that was, and thanks to Dawn also. submitted by /u/ObsessiveAboutCats to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

I have tried everything to clean this tub
Hi we have one tub that I believe is original in our 1936 tub. I don’t know what material it is out of and maybe that’s the issue. I feel like I have tried everything to clean this tub but there’s always these film like streaks that no matter what are always there. It looks like either hard water or slimy biofilm/mildew. Also, my husband has recently started getting chemical burns when taking a bath on his butt, he has sensitive skin but it’s almost like no matter what the chemicals are still on the tub. I have tried the pink stuff, Lysol lime and rust toilet cleaner, dawn powerwash, baking soda, bar keepers friend, soft scrub, zero bathroom cleaner, zero grout brightener, scrubbing bubbles, magic eraser, none of it works. I have hand scrubbed with a sponge, a brush, and an electric power brush. Is this just hard water or am I missing some secret to cleaning this? submitted by /u/jc94rex to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

What do you use Dawn Powerwash on aside from dishes?
I always see it recommended for this or that so I was hoping to get a more centralized list of all the different ways Dawn Powerwash can be used aside from cleaning dishes. One thing I like to use it on is dirty shoes. I spray it on the white parts, leave it for 5 minutes, and scrub it off with a soft-bristle brush. It's great at getting old dirt stains off the white soles. submitted by /u/frogcharming to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Dawn Powerwash appreciation post… what are y’alls dos and don’ts?
I was so elated when I learned how easy it is to make a homemade version (isopropyl, blue dish soap, and water) because of how expensive it is, and it’s just so satisfying to press that pressurized spray nozzle. I feel like it’s truly one of the most idiot-proof cleaning products ever. I’ve been using it in a pinch clean my bathroom, stainless steel pots, oven, fridge, stovetop… i’ve even used it to spot clean rugs. That being said, what are some other things y’all have discovered it’s good at cleaning? Or accidents y’all have made using it and learned it wasn’t actually good for? submitted by /u/Throwawaybearista to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Anything you SHOULDN’T clean with Dawn Powerwash?
I finally joined the powerwash club (free and clear/pear scent), and curious—is there anything I should avoid using this on? I had mixed results on my air fryer basket (definitely didn’t break down all the buildup, but helped make it a little better), but love it for my regular dishes. Seemed to do a better job than a generic degreaser for my glass stovetop, but are there any surfaces that aren’t appropriate? Could I use this in my bath, for example? submitted by /u/LoreSaberking to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Dawn Powerwash is the best thing ever. Fight me.
I was cleaning out a closet today and found a couple old umbrellas. I almost tossed them because their handles were all sticky. I assumed the rubber/plastic had deteriorated, but I decided to try and clean them anyway. I tried my go-to kitchen cleaner of dilute Mr. Clean and hot water. Nope. Dawn dish soap and hot water. Nope. Then I remembered someone on this sub had recommended Dawn Powerwash as the GOAT. I'd had a coupon for it on my last grocery visit, so actually had some on hand. Whaddyaknow...one of the handles came clean immediately. The second took three tries, but it came clean too. I cannot begin to count the number of items that I've binned because of sticky plastic that I thought couldn't be cleaned. Now I have two more umbrellas for my kids to trash! Yay! What weirdo thing have you cleaned with it? I wanna know! submitted by /u/midnightchaotic to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

This sub was so right about Dawn Platinum Powerwash, but now what?
Hello all, a little while ago on this sub I asked what would be a good product to use to clean a bathroom that is dirty from top to bottom from cigarette smoke. Someone suggested this Dawn product and it actually works amazingly! All I did was spray it on and watch the grime wash away. The problem is that for it to work, you have to give a good spray to cover the surfaces you want to clean. This is okay on its own but it means using a lot of soap, so when it comes to wiping it off, that is when the headache begins. I have tried using rags and sponges to clean off the soap and it takes forever to rinse them off to use again to take off more soap, and it takes so much water. I was wondering if anyone has an idea as to what to use to wipe the soapy spray off of the surfaces that would be easy to rinse out? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks 😊 submitted by /u/Educational-Seesaw16 to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

LPT - You can make your own Dawn Powerwash at home
After ending up with a few empty Dawn Powerwash bottles in the kitchen, I found a way to refill with a homemade solution that works just as well, but is far cheaper than purchasing a new bottle! Instructions - Pour 13 fl oz (380 ml) of water into an empty container. Mix in 4 US tbsp (59 ml) of blue Dawn Original Dish Soap. Add 2 US tbsp (30 ml) of rubbing alcohol. Shake the container to combine the ingredients and spray away! submitted by /u/KGB4Life to r/LifeProTips [link] [comments]
