Managed to print a lot of stuff over the long weekend. 1.8kW (4 panels), 3.8kWh battery plugin solar. I got an API key and built a script to collect data and a little dashboard. Solar generation forecasts from https://open-meteo.com: cloud-adjusted irradiance values — global horizontal irradiance (GHI), direct normal irradiance (DNI), and diffuse horizontal irradiance (DHI) — for my location in London. These are fed into a https://pvlib-python.readthedocs.io model which accounts for the sun's position and converts the irradiance to plane-of-array (POA) values for each of the four panel strings at their specific tilt and azimuth angles. Applying the total panel capacity and a ~4% system loss factor gives forecast_w — expected generation in watts. Forecasts are collected four times daily (05:00, 10:00, 14:00, 20:00 UTC) and each run is stored separately, so forecast evolution through the day can be visualised. Actual generation is read from the EcoFlow MQTT API, which streams live telemetry; the collector averages these into 15-second windows and writes them to Parquet. I’ve had an EcoFlow Stream Ultra X (3.84kWh battery) with 4x450W panels for a few months now. The panels are SW facing on decking in the garden propped up on chairs for a better angle to the sun. Yes, very temporary 🙈but I’m going to add a pergola type structure to the deck and will incorporate the panels for a more permanent install. These are the stats for April - I have the EcoFlow smart meter which is set for no export to the grid - this curtails solar input when the battery is full so there’s some lost potential on the very good days and will be watching this as summer days ramp up the sunshine. The numbers are very encouraging to me so far! Three options that keep coming up in truck power threads. Honest comparison for people using their truck for camping, work, or both. EcoFlow is the one most people land on first and the review library behind it is genuinely valuable if something goes wrong. Sealed architecture, no real battery expansion, when the internal battery degrades the unit degrades with it. Strong choice if proven and available now is what matters most. Jackery has an expansion battery option that sounds modular until you see how it actually works. The packs sit alongside the unit rather than replacing anything internal. Well reviewed, real community behind it, same sealed core limitation as EcoFlow long term. Worksport COR battery is a fully hot swappable separate unit, pull the depleted battery out and drop a charged one in while the station keeps running. 960Wh base, starts around $949 for station plus one battery. The Worksport COR pairs with the Worksport SOLIS solar tonneau cover via MC4 connectors, though the SOLIS feeds into any portable battery generator if you're already running a different station. There is no equivalent integrated solar tonneau in any other portable power station ecosystem available right now. The Worksport COR launched late 2024 and has less independent third party review history than EcoFlow or Jackery, which matters when something goes wrong and you're searching for answers. For a standalone station the comparison is tight and EcoFlow and Jackery carry more weight on review history right now. Hi, I have a Ecoflow Power AC Pro and my existing micro inverter is connected to it with 800W modules. I use it together with a Shelly and everything is working fine. Unfortunately, my solar generation is not shown in the app. But solar is recognizes and appears in the other stats. Anybody knows how to solve this? EcoFlow FlowMaster Generator Rectifier - is it locked in some fashion to the Ultra X, or can it be used to convert generator output to PV input for an arbitrary 3rd party solar inverter. The Case # is 2:25-cv-01047-JRG if you want to do your own search at a high level. This was filed mid-October. You'll need a PACER account if you want to read the actual case docs - be forewarned, it's over 100 pages deep. In summary: The Austrailian-based company is claiming patents around the specific approach taken for IoT communication: you use an app to control the device behavior over WiFi. If that sounds like it should be a generic feature that isn't subject to patent...well, that's how patents work. It's why a lot of products end up more expensive than they should be, because whoever owns whatever patent(s) go into the product have to get paid, too. That's on top of regulatory/permitting, staff, parts, labor, tariffs/import, testing (i.e. FCC), etc. Many don't understand - because it isn't communicated - that a portion of what you pay may actually need to go to a patent owner. Even if it's a generic technology or feature. What's odd about this case, is that the Exhibits just show the app behavior, and specifically call out wireless. It's possible they're targeting so-called peer-to-peer wireless. Take the DELTA Pro for example: when you reset its IoT, it will create a local network in itself that you can connect to, then it replaces it with your actual wireless network after successfully connecting. But countless devices do this - wireless routers, for example. The difference is, those devices (routers, for example) don't actually control anything themselves. It's purely for the ability to connect the first time to a device that's largely self-contained. EcoFlow app connectivity opens up all sorts of IoT features beyond the main device; such as Tapo, Shelly, Ecobee and multiple others that aren't related to the main device. We took at look at one patent - it's basically just the way every single IoT device works...an app on a device controls a device to do something that's related to power and needs internet. Basic. So what they're claiming is around the fundamentals, not that EcoFlow specifically "stole" anything, but rather, how they're doing it violates a patent that should entitle the patent owner to some money. Assuming that's true, it begs a question: why then would EcoFlow rush to the bottom on pricing, leaving themselves no pad room for such things? Another question is, since we understand that Tesla, Anker, and countless others do the exact same thing, why is EcoFlow singled out? Another question: the main case document refers to the newer DELTA 3 line; but the case Exhibits all refer to the older generation models. Which is it? Presumably it would be all of them and especially the Panels and the Gateway. This may be a case worth watching. It doesn't look "frivolous", but it's curious, because again, pretty much every known IoT devices work the same way if they depend on a smart phone or tablet. As written, the only device types that wouldn't be affected by these would be ones that either (A) provide an API to build your own interface and nothing else; (B) provide a dedicated visual interface with the unit, such as a monitor (so PowerInsight for example, if it were always included and the only way to interface with units over local connections); (C) only use Bluetooth for device control (BLUETTI offers such a route as an option) or (D) only provide a web (i.e. computer) interface (because the web interface is not directly using the hardware to do the work), which requires a server to run it. submitted by /u/CasualTalkRadio to r/Ecoflow_community [link] [comments]

Looking to install a home backup system for power outages and I want to utilize my I5 for this. My reason for wanting to add the Delta Pro 3 is that it can export 240v which will allow my water pump to keep running and I won't have to worry about only outputting 120v to my circuit breaker which sounds like it has the potential to cause problems if it's not configured correctly. My thought is I will use my I5 to recharge the DP3 when it starts to run low (apparently the DP3 can charge as the same time it's outputting). Does this setup make sense? I need backup power for my house because we lost power 5 or 6 times per year each lasting 6 to 16 hours and several have lasted several days. I know a battery backup system (ie. EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra, etc) won't provide power for very long but it seems extremely useful for short term (6 to 16 hour) outages like we experience. One of the ideas I've seen is to buy a battery backup and then a small generator to recharge the battery as needed if the power stays off for a long period of time. Is anybody else doing this?
