Fake Plants

I love my spider-plant jen: I've had it for over six years. I love my mini jungle in my kitchen. This includes two vases of two bouquet of real flowers and fake flowers. I love nature and the woods and plants.

The few times I have been able to get MAC1 to receive pollen, I got very little seed, and all the progeny was absolute garbage. This has been widely discussed over the years, and the only times I have seen decent plants come from a MAC1 cross, they ended up having a fake MAC1. For what its worth.

In the past year or so ive heard multiple reports of fake cuts coming from bdsc and know they were working together. Now pm, hplvd, mite reports… @Gabysi Curious if you have personally grown any of the plants on your clone list?

Okay so this is a little embarrassing for everyone involved including me. I (25F) have been living with my roommate "Cara" (24F) for about a year. Cara is genuinely one of the sweetest people I've ever met. Super warm, always checking in on people, the kind of person who remembers your coffee order. I love living with her. About 3 months ago, Cara suddenly got really into plants. Like REALLY into it. Our apartment went from zero greenery to what felt like a jungle overnight. She had succulents on the windowsill, a big leafy thing in the corner of the living room, little pots on every shelf. It was actually really cozy and I loved it. What followed was Cara becoming the unofficial plant mom of our entire friend group. She started giving advice left and right. Water it every 5 days. Make sure it gets indirect light. This one needs humidity, put it near the bathroom. Friends were texting her photos of their dying plants and she'd diagnose them like a doctor. Everyone loved it. She seemed so confident and happy about it. I thought it was wholesome. Then one afternoon I was dusting the shelves while Cara was out and I accidentally knocked one of her succulents off. I went to pick it up and the whole thing just lifted out of the soil. Perfectly. Like it was never planted at all. Because it wasn't. It was plastic. I checked another one. Plastic. The big leafy thing in the corner? Plastic. Every single plant in our apartment was fake. High quality, realistic looking fakes, but fake. I didn't know what to do with this information. I put everything back and said nothing. But then that weekend we had friends over and one of them was complaining about her fiddle leaf fig dying and Cara launched into this whole 10 minute explanation about soil drainage and root rot and I just I couldn't stop myself. I said Cara, should we tell them? And she froze. The room went quiet. I immediately felt sick because I realized I had just put her on the spot in front of everyone. To her credit, Cara didn't even try to deny it. She just got really quiet and then started laughing nervously and confessed everything. Turns out she bought the fake plants because she loved the aesthetic but knew she'd kill real ones. But then people started complimenting them and asking questions and she just went with it. She never meant for it to go this far. Everyone laughed it off eventually but I could tell Cara was mortified. She's been a little quieter with me since and I feel awful. I could have just pulled her aside privately instead of doing it in front of everyone. She says she's not mad but it doesn't totally feel that way. I've been auditing the privacy practices of developer tools. This time I tested what happens to your code in online editors. Test data: const API_KEY = "sk-secret-test-12345"; const DB_PASSWORD = "hunter2"; CodePen The moment you type, your code is sent to CodePen's servers via POST requests to codepen.io/cpe/process (Babel transpilation) and codepen.io/cpe/boomboom/store (preview rendering). You don't need to click Save it happens in real-time. My fake API key was transmitted verbatim in the request payload. All pens are public by default and auto-licensed as MIT. Private pens require PRO. JSFiddle Code is sent to fiddle.jshell.net/_display every time you click Run. For logged-in users, auto-save runs every 60 seconds, and auto-run fires after a 900ms debounce on every code change. Fiddles are public by default and indexed by Google. Three ad networks loaded (Carbon Ads, BuySellAds, EthicalAds). Their iframe sandbox configuration has an escape vulnerability logged in the console. CodeSandbox Runs 6 separate analytics services: PostHog, Amplitude, Plausible, Cloudflare Web Analytics, Google Analytics, and Google Tag Manager. All code stored server-side. Public by default on free tier. Their Terms prohibit using code for LLM training, but their Privacy Policy lists "LLM providers" as third-party data recipients. Anyone know a good source for decent looking fake plants? I know nothing will beat the real deal, but I wanna get as close as I can. I’m looking for a relatively large fake plant for inside my home that is big enough to be on the floor. I went to Target and Home Goods today and their options just looked so fake!
