Hammock chairs, good or bad idea?
When researching for new camping chairs, I came across a chair called a hammock chair and was wondering what people actually think about this? Does it actually work and is it comfortable to sit on? Is it a better option than a camping chair and I was wondering if its worth it to purchase something like this? From what I have seen hammock chairs look really comfortable and they let you swing and recline which seems a lot nicer than sitting upright all the time. Some models even let you adjust your position so you can lean back and relax more than a standard chair, but I am not sure how practical they are when it comes to actual campsite models. One thing I am curious about is the setup, it seems like a hammock chair either needs a tree or straps or a frame which might make them less convenient than a normal folidng camping chair that you can unfold anywhere. Is it something that you can actually lay down in and go to sleep in or is it better just to lounge in? So for people who’ve tried both: are hammock chairs actually worth it, or are regular camping chairs still more practical overall? Whats a good brand to look for instead of random chairs on sites like amazon and alibaba? submitted by /u/DropshipperJennings to r/hammockcamping [link] [comments]

Got a HON Nucleus at work and one feature I really like is the suspended ‘hammock-style’ seat. Neat trick for using your hammock as a chair
Hey everyone, I'm sure someone has posted this idea before, but it's new to me. I was experimenting with ways to make a typical gathered end hammock into a hammock chair, and I figured out an easy way to do just that. It would be made even better by a little "foot pocket" hung from your ridgeline so that you can kick your legs up. AITB for leaving up a swing for my brother
I am not The OOP, OOP is u/Anonymous_6778 AITB for leaving up a swing for my brother Originally posted to r/AmItheButtface Thanks to u/soayherder for suggesting this BoRU TRIGGER WARNING: Bullying, ableism Original Post May 13, 2025 My brother is 27. He's autistic and he stays with me due to that and some other pretty severe medical conditions. I am his legal caretaker. He has this hammock swing out back that he goes out and swings on almost every day unless it's raining then he has a rocking chair in his sensory room. That's his routine and he's done that for as long as we can remember. This lady next door just moved in about 2 weeks ago and has been giving me hell about this swing bc it's on the tree by the fence and my brother sometimes will push against the fence to make the swing go. She wants me to take it down bc it's the only tree in my backyard. I keep telling her no it's in my backyard that is his swing that it's not her business. She even went as far as calling the cops on me about this swing. Thankfully after explaining my situation they understood and just told my brother to make sure he doesn't hit the fence. We agreed to that. Yesterday when my brother went out to swing again she stopped him and threatened to call the cops again if he got on that swing. I told him don't listen to her get on it it's ok. He gets on it and she sprayed him right in the face with her hose. Told him he's a grown man he's too old for swings- I told her to get her sorry ass out of my sight before I called the cops. She just walked away.. Am I in the wrong here? RELEVANT COMMENTS TerrorAlpaca NTA. BUT... can you build something in between the fence and the swing so he pushes off of that and not the fence? For example plant a pole where he can push off from. or maybe a small segment of fence. Maybe in a color he enjoys? Also, i agree with the others to just call the cops each and every time she harasses or attacks you or him. Yes hosing him is an attack. OOP "For example plant a pole where he can push off from. or maybe a small segment of fence. Maybe in a color he enjoys?" This is not a bad idea. He really likes neon green and blue I will definitely do that for him. "Also, i agree with the others to just call the cops each and every time she harasses or attacks you or him. Yes hosing him is an attack" I'm going to and I also like everyones suggestions with the cameras. I will be getting those too. I just hope he doesn't develop a fear of hoses after that attack.. He had just gotten over his fear of water with the pool last summer. ~ Special_Lychee_6847 How can she interact with him, through a fence? Get a fence that's as high as your region allows it. What goes on on your side of the fence is none of her GD business. If your brother decides to run around butt naked in your yard, he can, and she can STFU about it. Call the cops about her hosing down your brother. Ask them to tell her to back off, and keep it civil. This will only escalate, if no one tells her how it is. You're a good sibling. 💖. OOP "How can she interact with him, through a fence?" Yes I do want to build it higher. "You're a good sibling. 💖" Thanks so much. I love my brother. I always have I have been helping take care of him since I was 10 years old. He's been through a lot medically. Doctors said he wouldn't make it past 15 years old...here he is 27 1/2 will be 28 in October. He's a trooper and a true miracle. I only took him in so he can have at least some sense of independence. It's not easy but so worth it. Our relationship is tight and the love and hugs he gives me makes everything worth it. ❤️. Update May 15, 2025 First off I want to thank each and everyone of you for all your suggestions and ideas and even the love and support for me and my brother in my previous post. You guys are all very sweet. I gotta say I got some of the sweetest comments I've ever had on a post especially from this sub. Now for the update u all have been waiting for. As many of you suggested I did call the cops back over and there is currently an ongoing investigation for the neighbor. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to say too much more on that rn for legal reasons but I will update more on that when I can. As for the swing I went with a mixture of y'all's suggestions. I went to my local hardware store after work today and I bought a stand for the swing and moved it away from the fence. I also bought a 2x4 fence like thing to put in front of the swing as a few others suggested. I had him try it out after I put it together. He was hesitant at first bc change isn't really his thing but with alittle encouragement he eventually went out and tried it and loved it. He's been on it for hours and now I can't get him back inside.🤣 I told him it was from his reddit friends. I really wish y'all could've seen the big smile he had on his face❤️ I found one of my spare cameras in my junk drawer so I got that and mounted it on my window facing the swing so any future encounters will be documented. I also just want to say I really appreciate all the sweet comments about my brother. They all touched my heart especially the mama bear comments and the comments about being his friend and swinging with him. Y'all are seriously so sweet that I wish I could build a whole neighborhood and invite you all to move into it with us. It just shows that there still are some good people in this world. I'm looking for the best Hammock Chair for outdoor relaxation in 2025. Any recommendations?
Hey everyone, I'm looking for a comfortable and durable Hammock Chair. I've always dreamed of having my own little relaxation corner in the garden where I can read, nap, or just enjoy the nature around me. I'm looking for a Hammock Chair that's not just comfortable but also durable enough to withstand outdoor weather conditions. Importantly, it should be easy to install and de-install, since I might move it around depending on the sun and shade in my garden. Also, if there are any with adjustable height options, that would be a bonus. Furthermore, I'm a little confused about the material. I've heard that cotton hammocks are the most comfortable, but I'm worried about them being less resistant to rain and humidity. Would synthetic be better for outdoor use? Please share your Hammock Chair stories, I'm looking forward to hearing from you! submitted by /u/Anderelikedd to r/Hammocks [link] [comments]

I know this sub is more focused on traditional hammocks, but any recs on a hammock chair?
I'm looking to add a hammock chair to our backyard but there's a lot of options so I figured I'd ask around to see what people here like. I'm looking for something like a recliner/lazy-boy style chair; not fully laid back and able to kick my feet up. Bonus points for if it has a cover or can be left out in the elements during a new england summer. Also primarily looking for one that would hang from a stand, but would also consider a standalone/camping hammock chair. Thanks! submitted by /u/tracebusta to r/Hammocks [link] [comments]

AITA for making my SIL feel like shit about her weight?
35F and my SIL is 46F. I have 3 children, the oldest being 16M. For my birthday last week my son went out and bought me this swinging hammock chair that I had been wanting for 2 years and it cost him quite a bit of his saved money (which I fully intend to put back in to his bank account so he can continue saving). He was so excited to see me open this gift and couldnt wait to help me set it up. I told him he shouldnt have, that it was a lot of money and his response was "You never get anything nice. I wanted you to have it." And it was true. I usually dont get anything for my birthday or Christmases outside of Tupperware or soaps. So it might sound stupid but I have cherished this swing ever since he got it for me, especially where I finally have something nice that's mine. My SIL comes over once a week to see all of us and she immediately headed straight for my swing (which my son hooked up on our deck). I told her to please not sit on it and she said "Is there a weight limit?" So I told her yes, 250lbs and I even showed her the box to confirm. She was not upset about this. She just said "That's a bummer, they need to make something capable of holding us big girls". I simply agreed with her and went about my business. At this point my husband shows up from work. When I went inside to grab us some drinks her and my husband are talking on the porch and not even 5 minutes later I hear a loud crash and my husband say "Fuck, are you alright?" I go out and sure enough she had sat in my swing and the crochet netting around the hook snapped on one side, causing her to fall right on her ass. She is sitting there laughing, gets up and says "I guess i need to learn to listen." So I lost it. As I said above, I literally never get anything nice. Never. This is the one thing that I had that was mine and it didnt even take someone a freaking week before they ruined it for me. So I said "I literally just fucking told you not even 20 minutes ago that it would not hold you and to please not fucking sit in it." She makes some comment about "Usually the weight limit is a lie. I thought it would hold." So I said "The weight limit probably would have held if you were only 50lbs heavier than it, not 150." (She is 420ish lbs because she is one of those girls who eat food on camera for money and she absolutely loves her weight). But regardless, instead of apologizing or offering to compensate me for my destroyed item, she has resorted to saying I'm a shit bag for making her feel like her weight is a problem and my husband is on her side. "Its just a fucking swing". AITA? submitted by /u/Fickle-Life-9867 to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

It's the mammy's 80th birthday today. I got her a hammock chair and made her a swing.

AITA for hanging out outside a lot? The neighboring family wants more privacy but honestly they have it already, I'm not paying them any attention.
I have an apartment in a house that has been split up into apartments. The outdoor space is also split up so each apartment has a personal outdoor space. The first floor is one apartment and they have the back deck as outdoor space. The second floor is another apartment and they have a balcony, and a front yard and Side yard as outdoor space. I have the third floor apartment and my outdoor space is the back yard. On the right side of the house there is an alley for shared access and all of the tenants can cut through there. I was super excited to get a place with a outdoor spot of my own. My landlord also said I could build raised garden beds to garden in as long as I keep them maintained and leave them in good shape when I move out. He was also fine with me getting some outdoor furniture, a few chairs and a table with an umbrella to keep under the trees, and a hammock. So I spend a lot of time outdoors, working remotely, having friends over, reading books and painting, relaxing, gardening, excercising, etc. My landlord is super happy with this, I take really good care of the lawn and garden. But the neighbors (the family on the ground floor with the back deck, and the two guys on the second floor with the back balcony) have gotten annoyed at me. The guys on the second floor haven't said anything direct to me but I overheard them, when I was going to bed one night, sitting on their balcony and talking about how "finally that bitch has gone inside" The family on the ground floor did say something to me, the couple told me that they're trying to raise two young kids, it's good for kids development to be able to play outside, and I am "selfishly hogging" the outside. I said that it's cool if they play outdoors too, after all each apartment has it's own personal outdoor area, it wouldn't bother me at all of they use theirs. They said that they want their kids and family to have more privacy and not always be watched. I said I wasn't watching, I'm busy with my own stuff and if they had their kids playing out on the deck I wouldn't pay them any mind. They said I was missing the point, it's uncomfortable to do stuff outdoors if there is always someone there. Like it would also be uncomfortable for their guests if they were having a nice dinner party out back and I was sitting right nearby. I said they could ask me for some privacy next time they wanted to host, I wouldn't mind. They said they don't want to ask every time they want to use their space I felt like they were asking me to just spend a lot less time outdoors and that'd honestly be a huge change and it would really be disappointing because I only got this apartment for the personal outdoor space, the indoor space is kinda cramped and ugly. WIBTA if I didn't change my habits and still spent a lot of time outdoors? submitted by /u/jogger93737 to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

It's time to upgrade your camping chair to a portable folding hammock that doesn't need trees
