The battles we have with my ice cube tray is maybe stuff of legend. I want the ice it doesn’t want to give me the ice, so you will find me banging it on the kitchen counter which results in a mess which I have to clean, so it is quite annoying. So it got me thinking, it is the 21st century, surely there must be a better way right? I know we have ice making machines but I am quite frugal and there is no way I can justify that purchase to myself so the next best thing is to find the least annoying icecube tray out there. I have been to multiple sites all over the internet, I even checked out Alibaba but they all look the same to me, but I am determined that when I want to have a drink it's not after battling my ice cube tray for ice. I've been looking for a while for very robust stainless steel ice cube trays and ordered one, but it's terrible. It had a little handle that kept bending, and it wouldn't work properly. Just looking for a stainless steel tray that I can sort of flex with my hands to get the cubes to release. My husband and I have been married for 33 years. I love him, I really do, but he has this infuriating habit of not refilling the ice tray after use. He will take a few cubes out and pop the tray back in the freezer. I cannot count the times I have gone to get ice to find there are not enough cubes for whatever I need them for. I have tried everything to get him to fill up the tray when there are less than half left. I have asked nicely, pleaded, whined, whinged, rationalised, tried to bribe. You get the picture. His answer has always been that it doesn’t need filling and he will fill it if it is empty. Then three weeks ago I had an epiphany (ikr, a bit on the slow side) as I was removing ice from the tray and, once again, filling it up - if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em! So now I don’t fill the tray, and as it reaches close to the end, I am strategic about my use of cubes. I always leave just one in the tray. When he needs ice, it is available, but he will have to fill the tray. I have not filled the tray in three weeks, and it is amazing the joy I find in this little revenge. I for the love of god can't find any good ice cube trays. I don't really have a preference on material as long as it's of good quality, be it silicon, plastic or metal. Pretty much any price is fine as long as it's BIFL. ​ I live in Italy, Europe, American brands usually don't ship here or it's insanely expensive, so help from fellow Europeans is appreciated. Most common molds from amazon are cheap chinese ones that probably aren't safe to use, leave residue in the water or break super easily.
