How to get in front of Landscape Architects or Landscape Designers.
Hey folks, I’m a concrete finisher of 20 years pursuing a more creative and fulfilling career making concrete faux bois pieces. Visit r/fauxbois if you’re wondering what that is. Although my work isn’t exclusively outdoor, most of my pieces will be outside in gardens and outdoor venues. I’ve made some things I’m proud of and have taken thousands of hours to refine my skills over the last few years. I am ready to take my side hustle to more serious place and quit my day job pouring decorative concrete. So where do you professionals look for art, furniture, sculptures etc? What’s the best way to approach designers and architects? What are the worst ways? I could use some direction. Thanks for taking the time to read! I hope it’s ok that i added some pics to give an idea of the work I hope to do full time. submitted by /u/Tomaselgato to r/landscaping [link] [comments]

I made these intarsia panels for a custom entertainment center out of 19 species of unstained wood.
Each panel is roughly 23x40” and were designed based on thematic elements that my customer wanted to see visually represented (landscape with citadel, rising sun, waterfalls, fruit trees, and fish in a winding river). Because these are rolling barn doors, these pieces are intended to look “complete” as standalone images, but come together to form one larger image when the doors are closed. I created this piece using my scroll saw and shaping with a rotary tool (and a ton of hand sanding) before reassembling. There are 382 individually cut pieces in here, made from 19 species (listed on slide 14). No paints, stains, or dyes were used to color it. Photos attached include final shots once installed, as well as the pictures I snagged before sending them off to be attached to the prefabricated doors (thus the difference in lighting/color). I included some photos of it in progress, though I admittedly took very few! submitted by /u/ducklady92 to r/woodworking [link] [comments]

NEW: ARC Raiders Development Update
We’re changing how we update ARC Raiders - here’s what it means for you. We're shifting to bigger and better game updates, twice a year. Here's everything you need to know. Hi Raiders, ARC Raiders has grown far beyond anything we imagined at launch, and every day we see players continuing to shape life in the Rust Belt in ways that inspire us as developers. With that in mind, we want to talk about how we’re changing our update cadence moving forward. We're changing how we update the game. When ARC Raiders launched, we planned to offer monthly content updates. The intention was to keep you all engaged, to ensure the game always felt fresh, and to give you reasons to keep braving topside. But once the game was in players' hands, we saw that the kind of long-term experience we want to create for ARC Raiders requires more transformative updates. Over time, we’ve found that the pressure of a monthly cycle limits how impactful these updates can be. You feel it, and we feel it too. Running at that pace isn't sustainable, or compatible with the bigger ambitions we have for this game. Major updates will come twice a year. Going forward, we've made the decision to release major updates twice a year – larger in scale, more impactful, with the goal to genuinely change how you play the game. Don’t worry, a dedicated live service team will continue running ARC Raiders day-to-day: regular live updates, plus balance fixes, bug fixes, store updates, and player events aren't going anywhere. This additional development space allows us to invest more deeply in the health of ARC Raiders, from progression and economy balancing to fair play and anti-cheat efforts. We know these are foundational to the experience, especially in a game where every encounter and extraction matters. Frozen Trail: our biggest update yet Our next major update lands in October, and it's the largest we've released since launch. This isn't just about volume, it's designed to address the broader questions the community has been asking. Here's a taste of what's coming: A Sprawling New Frontier - Explore a new landscape in the Rust Belt with layered design and new mysteries to uncover in the largest map in the game. Our Most Ambitious ARC Operation So Far - Including new ARC enemies with fresh designs, and unique behaviors that will challenge Raiders in new ways. New Systems of Progression - Many players have maxed out their Raider Den and hit the Skill Point ceiling. Frozen Trail will introduce new goals and more ways to shape your Raider’s progression. Exploring the origin of ARC - What are ARC and where do they come from? Frozen Trail gives Raiders the opportunity to begin uncovering that mystery. Improved Skill Tree Alongside new weapons, items, instruments, cosmetics and more It’s important to understand, we're not just stacking new content on top of the existing experience. We're refining core systems to support a more meaningful long-term experience – one you genuinely want to keep returning to. Frozen Trail is just the beginning of where we want to take ARC Raiders, and we’ll share more in the coming months. Starting next week: a new trader Next week, we’re introducing a fresh mechanic designed for late-game players: a new Trader from a nomadic tribe of surface-dwellers. Many of you have invested a lot in the game, and there’s a few common problems that we keep hearing about: You’re holding a lot of high-value items with no way to offload them in rewarding ways. Your Stash is filling up with the game’s new items and we haven’t increased the capacity. Very few of you are going on the Expedition, either because it is not rewarding enough, or because it is too painful to part with your favorite items and Blueprints. The new Trader unlocks at level 25, and he offers unique rewards, rare items, and cosmetics in exchange for your high-value items. He will take items off your hands in return for these weekly rotating rewards, but he may sometimes ask you to go and find specific rare items to trade. The new Trader also offers two perks in exchange for high-value items: Extra Stash space to help you increase your capacity. The Expedition Vault. This allows you to carry over up to five items across the Expedition, so you can set your new Raider up with your favorite items or blueprints. This is just one part of a broader set of improvements arriving later this year. Building for the long-term One thing that has become increasingly clear since launch is how important progression and player goals are to the ARC Raiders experience. If you love ARC Raiders, you want more reasons to keep returning to the Rust Belt – and we want to build systems that continue evolving alongside the game. Some of the progression improvements we want to implement simply need more development time that we haven't been able to address properly while running on a monthly cycle. Moving to larger updates allows us to spend more time refining the systems players engage with the most. We’re working to deepen progression across multiple areas of ARC Raiders, while continuing to expand how players shape and personalize their Raider. We’re also investing more into features like Trials so they remain reliably fun to engage with, not a grind. We’re also putting effort into making the Expedition Project more rewarding – and less punishing – to pursue. This is an ongoing part of ARC Raiders’ evolution, and you’ll start seeing the first steps of that very soon. The bigger picture It’s important to us that players understand something about where our collective ‘Embark brain’ is at: our ambitions go far beyond what players have seen so far. We want to go further in showing you the wider universe of ARC Raiders. We think about ARC Raiders as an experience that should continue expanding over time, and right now we’re still early in that journey. The bi-annual cadence gives us the opportunity to develop to build future updates with more intention, ensuring that gameplay, progression, narrative, and the world itself all move forward together. Right now, Raiders are facing an escalating ARC threat, and the society in Speranza may feel helpless against it. But Raiders aren’t built to stay on the back foot: the goal has always been bigger than survival – it’s about one day reclaiming the surface. Frozen Trail will start to progress this goal and expose elements of this challenge, but it is really just the beginning. We aim to constantly shift the paradigm that Raiders operate under so you feel the effects of your actions and perseverance against ARC. Thank you, Raiders The Rust Belt is nothing without the Raiders who fill it with life every single day. We understand that this change won’t please everyone, and that it might be frustrating not to get content updates as frequently, but we truly believe this will be worth it. Thank you for continuing to push us to create the best game we can. As always, we’ll see you topside, Aleksander Grøndal Executive Producer submitted by /u/PTUSN to r/ArcRaiders [link] [comments]

This is a French drain, named not after landscaping in France but because the design was first created by US man whose last name was French. Is there a similarly seemingly-foreign-but-not thing in your country?
French drains consist of a shallow trench lined with gravel or rocks. They're used for the purpose of directing water away from building foundations. Henry Flagg French, who first devised this type of drain, was President of Massachusetts Agricultural College. There's been no way of crediting him without creating the impression they originate from France. Curious whether there's something which creates a similar confusion in your country (without being some company's marketing gimmick). submitted by /u/doublestitch to r/AskTheWorld [link] [comments]

New AI Landscape Design tool. Would love your honest feedback.
I run a real-life landscape design company, and noticed over the past 3 years that most consumers could no longer afford our services. Between material and insurance inflation, most homeowners were being priced out of professional landscape design. As AI started improving I figured there would be a ton of AI landscape design tools that would fill this need. But most AI tools did not account for a users hardiness zone, sunlight conditions, or recommend local native plants. About a year ago I began working on this app, and it is now finally ready to be shared with the world. As more users subscribe I aim to increase the number of generations in the free tier, but there is still lots a free user can do with the add plants and magic erase tools. Would appreciate feedback, especially negative feedback, to keep improving this tool and make landscape design more accessible to everyone. submitted by /u/GreenGardenGremlin to r/landscaping [link] [comments]

Landscape Designers Are NOT Cooked!!
Getting excited with all the images, I tried to get 4o to create some sketches of landscape in front of my house to built a retaining wall out of moss rocks. It asked me all the dimensions, requested a bunch of pictures from different angles, Google Earth screenshot, real estate agents photos and street view. Then it created these. I'm pretty sure landscape designers don't have to worry just yet. submitted by /u/hrustomij to r/ChatGPT [link] [comments]

Is $2k too much to pay for a landscape design plan?
We live on a .3 acre lot. It is fully landscaped, but we want to add a small pool, a fence, new plants, remove some grass and convert to garden bed, flip our park strip from grass to plants, etc. A designer/horticulturist quoted $2000 for a plan. There are some other companies that are around $500-$1000, but I think the process is a bit quicker with them and they may not pay as much attention to which plants do well in which spaces, etc. I'm just wondering if $2k seems like way too much for what I'm wanting since I don't need to add any retaining walls or structures other than the pool. submitted by /u/Cablab123 to r/landscaping [link] [comments]

Contractor is saying I cant photograph a yard I designed as a landscape architect or he will sue me
A landscape contractor brought me onto a project. This contractor had the design and build contract with the client. He paid me as the landscape architect to do the design. I have 10-20 emails of me to him sending him the designs that have my company name, logo and a note that says designed by: myname. Well I found out the contractor has been removing my logo and my name from my designs and presenting the designs as his own work to clients. Although he missed a few and the client does have copies of the design with my name and logo on it. I explained this to one of the clients, and he said I could come photograph the yard as I should be able to show off my work. While I was photographing the yard, the contractor happend to drive by the house and saw my truck. He entered the property without permission and proceeded to scream at me while we were photographing the yard. He said If I post the photos on my website or social media he will sue me to take them down and for "damages", whatever that means. He said because he had the design and build contract with the client, he would win in court. Even though I have all these emails showing its my design, and the client allowed me into the yard to photograph the yard for my website. I'm a younger landscape architect and these photos would really help my portfolio. submitted by /u/CheddarCheesasaurus to r/legaladvice [link] [comments]

First time designing/landscaping. Any glaring issues?
Bought our first house and redid everything. While I’m familiar with some interior design, I’d never tried my hand at landscape design. In an attempt to reduce the amount of water usage (that’s Southern California living for you), I ended up coming up with this idea of splitting the yard by the path to create a drought tolerant/low maintenance side. I wanted to get rid of the old panel design underneath the windows but couldn’t find new siding to match the original (it was a weird shape/cut), so I added stacked stone there and we created a planter box around the whole front of the house. Added the fencing (was recommended red balau from a lumber guy) to help keep the kids somewhat contained, and went crazy trying to research what kind of plants and how many/where to plant. I’ve always wanted a willow but found out they’re super invasive, EXCEPT for Australian willows so I went with that. Can’t wait for that to grow into a big tree (in 5 years). Also ended up redoing the porch with black limestone and grabbed an antique double rocker to finish it out (also replaced the front door and siding of course). My wife loves it but I’m always second guessing myself and open to learning/getting better. Any glaring issues you experts see? (I’ll say in hindsight I wish we went with a darker red paver for the path and that the stacked stone was a little less warm). Either way, relieved and grateful it’s done! submitted by /u/kindacool22 to r/landscaping [link] [comments]
