Magnesium Glycinate Lysinate is the only supplement I have noticed it's benefits
I usually wake up throughout the night around 4am and rarely am able to fall back asleep. I saw Andrew Huberman sleep supplement recommendations and ended up purchasing Magnesium Glycinate Lysinate from Amazon. Might be placebo but I've been sleeping like a baby ever since. There are still times where I wake up throughout the night but am able to fall back asleep without a problem. I showed the bottle of supplements to my mother and told her to try them because she's always had trouble sleeping and today, I couldn't find the bottle, turns out she took it home with her cause they worked for her as well lol. Magnesium Made all the difference
I’m a 31 yo who struggled with ed for a long time. Basically I first really noticed it when I tried to have sex for the first time at 15 yo. At some point I was done with the struggle and decided to use viagra/cialis to help. Although it did help, still it just never felt ‘like it should’. A bit of mental pressure or anxiety could still completely derail the experience. Last year I decided to (finally) do a blood test. To my surprise my testosterone levels where above the standard levels. Lots of other things where tested to, they all seemed fine on paper, including my magnesium. I always felt like it was more of a mental and pelvic floor tension problem, so I carried on focusing on that. For a couple of years I had some other minor annoying issues, experiencing weird muscle spasms in my legs, eyelid and neck. Thought they where stress related and it was never so bad that it was very worrying. But in the past months it did get pretty bad. Decided to take magnesium supplements after reading about its benefits and if that didn’t help I would go to see the doctor. After a couple of days of taking 375 mg magnesium bisglycinate, I experienced no weird muscle spasms at all. But something else happened that surprised me even more. My dick was getting hard out of no where. In a way I can’t recall ever happening. Full, solid and without any issue maintaining it. Now it’s about a week later and I still have a difficult time trusting it, but this positive effect is still there, so I’m getting quite sure this ain’t placebo.. also it clearly has a some more ‘volume’ when flaccid. More positive affects, I feel more rested and less anxious/negative. Especially in the morning. So I guess that has a lot of influence on the whole ed situation as well. Then there is the question remaining, why didn’t my test last year show a deficiency in magnesium. But apparently magnesium is very difficult to actually test. And some people will need more than what is deemed normal to fully function. I know this is not going to be a solution for everyone. For the little bit of money and effort, it is always worth the try though. And if it helps even one other person, that would make it worth posting. Took melatonin + magnesium for health and sleep benefits… had my first lucid dream 3 days later, felt like waking up inside Inception
Alright, so I’m not really a Reddit user, I barely ever post and im new in this sub, but what happened last night was way too wild not to share. Three days ago, I started taking melatonin and magnesium before bed. Nothing special, I’d just heard it might help with sleep quality. The first two nights were normal. But on the third night… everything changed. It started as a regular dream, random, kind of weird, until things stopped making sense. The logic broke down, and suddenly I realized: “Wait… this is a dream.” That moment hit me like a lightning strike. For the first time in my life, I was fully conscious inside a dream. I could think i was thinking about how nonsense dream is this, feel my heartbeat, even look at my hands (they looked slightly distorted, which freaked me out a little). Then, the dream world started collapsing, literally like in Inception buy everything began dissolving into black pixelated fragments, breaking apart piece by piece. I tried to wake myself up, forcing my eyes open. When I finally did, I was lying in bed with my heart racing and my mind clearer than it’s ever been. The moment i opened my eyes world around me felt like it was reloading, forming itself back together, the exact reverse of how the dream had disintegrated. Here’s where it got even stranger: in the dream, when I realized I was dreaming and tried to wake up, I was actually trying to wake up into another dream. And I still remember that one clearly. I never think about this real reality in my dream. But the craziest part? After I woke up for real, I could feel myself being slowly pulled back toward sleep, like something was trying to drag me back into the dream. It was this heavy, magnetic feeling, and I knew that if I let it happen, I’d probably slip right back into another lucid state. I didn’t let it happen. My consciousness was so sharp, and I had this instinctive fear that the next dream would be too real, too long, and maybe even terrifying. So I stayed awake — just staring at the ceiling, heart still pounding. Still not sure what to make of it. If you needed another reason to degoogle, it would be their incessant efforts to cow-tow to an authoritarian fool like trump. They will force-feed you their AI like you're a foie-gras goose. But if the AI would say anything less than praiseworthy about the great leader, then they'll rather turn it off. It even happens in multiple languages. It's kinda insulting really; they won't give users the option to turn off their AI because they want your money/data/ hope you'll get used to it. But for this they jump through hoops? Side note; I'm not here to discuss politics or AI, that's not the point of this post either. Whether or not you like trump or hate him, love or hate AI, the fact that google is happy to alter their user's experience to fit any narrative should be concerning. If they are happy to switch off their own prized flagship, what will they/their algorithms do to censor info and control the narrative? Magnesium bicarbonate impacts and I can't find any explanation for extreme benefits
So I'm in my mid 60s and fighting back against the genes that run in my family for metabolic disease, etc. I eat a mostly unprocessed whole foods diet (plants and animals, mostly plants) and try to live a healthy lifestyle...blah blah blah. I supplement with magnesium and my levels are not above range....ok, all that said....I usually take mag malate or glycinate....but sometimes when I have extra time I whip up a batch of mag bicarbonate (mag hydroxide combined with seltzer to create the mag bicarbonate). Within a day of starting to take the bicarbonate, I feel as good as I did it my youth - sounds crazy to say but I feel like I'm in my 20s-30s again....energy, mood, no nagging little aches or pains....overall feelings of great wellness..... each bottle of potion lasts me about 4 days (I make a liter at a time, after a few days, the taste goes funky)... and then I go back to pills until I remember to make another batch and feel great again.... it's like a cycle. Eating black beans = massive improvements in overall health?
About a month ago, I started eating a cup of black beans on a daily basis to increase my fiber intake. I have always had major issues with falling asleep quickly and sleeping soundly, but a few days into eating black beans regularly my sleep improved drastically. I'd fall asleep within about 30 minutes, sleep restfully, and wake up refreshed. This is unheard of for me - normally, waking up feels like rising from the dead. I also feel okay when I've gotten insufficient sleep, when typically that would make me non-functional. Another thing I've started noticing is a huge decrease in anxiety, which I've struggled with for most of my life. I tend to have a lot of ambient anxiety, and a tendency to overreact to or overthink things. Lately though, stuff that would really upset me is fairly easy to ignore and move on from. Apart from improvements in sleep and mental health, my skin looks and feels very clear and soft, and my hair has gotten thicker. Before the black beans, my skin was super dry and my hair would fall out constantly. I've tried eating other types of beans (mainly pinto, cannellini, chickpeas and lentils) when I've run out of black beans, and haven't noticed the same effects. I haven't made any major changes to my diet apart from adding in black beans, probably don't consume as much produce as I ought to, and will occasionally eat plenty of sugar, fried food and processed food. That doesn't seem to affect me that badly, and cleaning up my diet (minus the black beans) doesn't have the same sleep-promoting or anxiolytic effects. I'm reading that black beans contain magnesium, tryptophan, B vitamins and potassium (along with the fiber and protein), but I've tried supplementing with all of these and never had such good results. Does anyone know why black beans could be helping this much? EDIT: Wow, this post blew up! Without added spices, the beans are bland enough taste-wise that you can eat them alongside whatever other meal you're having, kind of like you would with rice or bread. For those who want to make them plain with no seasonings, add 2 cups of dry black beans (after removing cracked beans) to 6 cups of water, then cook on high pressure in your Instant Pot. No soaking is required, just add the dry beans and cook for 20 minutes for firmer beans and 30 minutes for mushier ones. I'd recommend not overcooking though, because too much heat will destroy some of the nutrients. Once the cook cycle is finished, let the pressure release naturally for 20 minutes (aka, do not unvent the pressure cooker), then vent the remaining steam afterwards and eat. Are there really proven benefits of different magnesium forms exluding the absorption ?
I've always heard some forms of magnesium are not absorbed the same. But also they do not have the same effect. I suppose it's the mag comes with their molecule (ex : citrate) and that's those molecules that may have side effect (but not the mag itself ?) IT IS TIME: We must fully prepare ourselves for the MOASS and this is how.
Okay Apes, The DD has been done, The DD has been consumed by apes and there has been no rebuttal to the facts of our DD anywhere. There is new stuff coming out but by now we all should know that it is inevitable. The MOASS could happen any day now. There are a lot of possible catalysts approaching fast that each on their own could launch us to Andromeda. ​ Let's face it. The decisions you make during the squeeze are going to be some of the biggest and most important of your whole life. I hope that this post will help some apes prepare to be in a good frame of mind, and in as good physical and mental shape possible in the time we have left. So that as many of us as possible can be in the right shape to make the right decisions for ourselves and all Apekind. ​ The bottom line is that your preparation before and health and wellbeing at the time of the squeeze will have an impact on your decision making and ability to think accurately. I believe you’re letting yourself down to not prepare and to not look after yourself and be good for the squeeze before, during and after. ​ This is not financial advice. I'm just an ape trying to share some of what I know that I believe is of value to other apes and give back to this amazing community. I’ve learnt so much on this journey with you Apes and already changed my life for the better regardless of the squeeze. ​ I’ve always been interested in maximising health and wellbeing and physical/mental performance/self improvement but 5 years ago I developed a long term illness and became obsessed with this stuff. I've now done a tonne of research and experimentation in the last 5 years and found some things that really work and am now in an amazing place in life. ​ I’m going to split this into 3 sections, one each for preparing and nourishing your mind, body and soul for the MOASS. All of these intertwine to create a truly healthy person inside and out and if one of these areas suffers, sooner or later the others will suffer too because of it. ​ Preparing the Mind Prepare and read as much exit strategy DD as possible until you feel confident in what you need to do come the squeeze. Have an exit strategy in mind, this post is not for going into exact exit strategy DD in terms of peaks and dips and price points, others have and will cover that better than I would be able. In short, don’t sell on the way up or before you’re sure it has peaked, it's better to sell on the way down and almost guarantees more profits overall as well as a higher peak if enough apes do it. ​ This DD is about giving you some practical strategies so you will be prepared to stay calm as the rocket launches and be ready to welcome the 7, 8 and 9 digit numbers like old friends. Do not be scared of the big numbers, they are your destiny. Calm = better decision making = more tendies for all the apes. ​ Visualisation ​ “It is now a well-known fact that we stimulate the same brain regions when we visualize an action and when we actually perform that same action. For example, when you visualize lifting your right hand, it stimulates the same part of the brain that is activated when you actually lift your right hand.” ​ Visualisation and mental rehearsal are the real deal, when not practising physically professional athletes visualise plays and certain movements they perform during play nonstop. This is proven to help performance and increase the CONFIDENCE of being able to execute at a high percentage. ​ I’ve personally used this in my own amateur sport career to great effect and in other areas of life like business and the gym too. ​ How I propose this can be used for the MOASS prep and what I have been personally doing: ​ Close your eyes and imagine yourself in as much detail as you can logging into your broker during the squeeze and seeing certain numbers for GME maybe 10k, 100k, and up to 1m, 10m, 100m. Visualise yourself sitting there viewing the ticker and holding, getting up and coming back to your computer and still holding easily for as long as it takes until your floor. Imagine the price dipping and then soaring back up a few times until the peak and then selling one by one on the way down. Visualise and mentally rehearse you pulling off your exit strategy flawlessly. Do this once a day and I promise you will be more confident during the MOASS and more likely to achieve your exit strategy goals. ​ Practising mindfulness ​ “According to neuroscience research, mindfulness practices dampen activity in our amygdala and increase the connections between the amygdala and prefrontal cortex. Both of these parts of the brain help us to be less reactive to stressors and to recover better from stress when we experience it” The benefits of mindfulness and meditation are countless and the science is now irrefutable. Practising mindfulness through meditation is in my opinion the number one best thing you can do for your mind to keep it working well and be more at peace with the world. I’ve now meditated everyday for almost 4 years and am able to deal with stressors relatively easily. It's hard to put into words how powerful a meditation practise is. There is a reason such a high percentage of the most successful people have a daily meditation practise. ​ My favourite meditation quote: “Your mind is the basis of everything that you experience and of every contribution you make to the lives of others. Given this fact, it makes sense to train it.” -- Sam Harris ​ Practise 10 minutes a day to start if that is all you can manage. I would highly recommend trying out some longer duration guided meditations too, the longer the meditation the more beneficial effects you will witness in my experience. I find it a lot easier and better lying down when I meditate without having to worry about posture especially if you’re a beginner. I recommend the insight timer app for free guided meditations perfect for beginners and experienced alike. Pick a highly rated one, block out some time to chill and work on yourself and trust the instructor and go with it. Remember it is meditation practise not meditation perfect, don’t expect to be a master straight away, be kind and encouraging to yourself for doing something positive. The goal is not to have zero thoughts. The goal is to be the witness to your thoughts and observe without engaging in them. Once you start to see benefits and enjoy the practise it becomes a true joy. If you’re feeling stressed, anxious or overwhelmed during the MOASS or at any point in daily life chucking on a good guided meditation is a surefire way to snap out of that state and gain some clarity as to what is happening and how best to move forward. Do this and your MOASS experience will work out better than if you don’t, I’m fairly certain of that. ​ Be discerning with where and how you spend your mental energy. ​ Social media is designed by some of the brightest minds of our time to keep you scrolling, to keep you clicking and to keep you getting those tasty dopamine hits. To suck as much of your time and attention per day as possible into their app. With GME this is even more powerful with the delicious hits of confirmation bias that we can deliver to ourselves so easily. There is such a thing as too much though and when you’ve already done enough reading and DD and upvoting and Apeing for the day or the week you need to be able to realise that you’ve come to that point and take the power back. Put your phone down and switch off from all of this. You don’t want reddit (or Facebook or IG, youtube etc.) to be taking up too large of a percentage of your day to where you are neglecting other important things in your life, depriving yourself of sleep and healthy living habits etc. It is very easy to do because of how powerful and addictive these technologies are but being aware of it is the first step to taking back control if you think you have an issue with this. I personally think it is an unfair fight for us against this addictive technology and the might of the tech giants. I enlist the help of app blockers on my phone and PC to limit my use of certain social media apps and websites. I would definitely recommend at least having them on at night so you can’t stay up too late in the internet wormhole and badly affect your sleep. You wouldn’t want the MOASS to start and for you to be tired and dopey from mindlessly scrolling social media all night the night(s) before. You want to be awake, well rested and alert and confident in your ability to execute when you need to during the MOASS. Preparing the Body I’m sure most of you intellectually know the basics of what I’m going to say now but seriously if you don’t have some of these healthy habits in your life already what better time is there to start than now? What better reason to look after yourself so you can perform during and after the MOASS. Exercise Make sure you’re getting some form of exercise everyday. We will all be at different levels of fitness and know-how but anything is better than nothing. I know during covid it's tough for some but even just getting out in the fresh air once a day and going for a leisurely walk will be very beneficial for mind, body and soul. Don’t jump straight into intensely working out if you’ve been doing nothing, that could potentially have you exhausted come the MOASS which is the opposite of what we want. The goal is to just not be completely sedentary and to be in a better place mentally and physically than you are now even if its just a few steps in the right direction. Sunlight Getting some sunlight on your skin is such an underrated and overlooked aspect of health these days. We all spend so much time inside on our devices. Make an effort to get at least 20-30 minutes of sunlight a day if possible, ideally with your shirt off so you can absorb more of that delicious vitamin D. Vitamin D is responsible for the proper function of an amazing amount of mechanisms inside our bodies and so many of us are deficient. This will also have the added benefit of balancing your circadian rhythm and allowing you to sleep better. If it's not sunny where you are, get a vitamin D supplement and start taking it. Getting outside and in nature and the fresh air even for a short while during the day even if its not sunny where you are will still benefit you. Nutrition I’m not going to get too deep into this as some people get so attached to their diet and ideologies surrounding food. Just make an effort to eat better than you have been, nearly all of us have some room for improvement in our diets. Focus on whole foods that are nutrient dense as far as your budget allows and try to stay away from the shit we all know is not good for you, the heavily processed fatty, carby, sugary shit. Don’t overeat, eat to satiation and stop. I believe so many modern health problems are caused by humans having an unnatural relationship with food today. We have changed from treating food primarily as a fuel for our bodies and minds to now using it more as a tool to make ourselves feel good for short bursts when we are eating it. Putting the importance of taste far above that of real nutrition and not giving ourselves the building blocks we need to perform to our best. Treat more of your meals primarily as fuel and your health and relationship with food will improve. Sleep Being well rested and getting your sleep is one of the major keys to being at your best. For some it is not easy and it took me a long time to improve my sleep habits from being terrible to now being able to consistently get 7-8 good hours a night and go to bed at a decent time. Here are some basic tips that make all the difference - try to get to sleep before 10PM, hours of sleep before midnight are worth more than the hours of sleep after midnight according to a lot of people and I have found this to be the case in my experience. Limit your phone and exposure to blue light before bed, ideally have your phone in another room at night so you aren’t tempted by it and make a commitment to not use your phone for an hour before bed so you can switch off. Create a night time and bedtime routine and stick to it. If you have trouble getting to sleep try one or all of these - a yoga nidra guided meditation, magnesium L-threonate or a good quality melatonin supplement. I’m also a fan of CBD as well. YSK If you're uncomfortable for no apparent reason, try some of these fixes:
Why YSK: Most people can be comfortable if they figure out what causes their discomfort and deal with it and/or try these methods! I recently discovered that years of frequent discomfort was being caused by nipple chaffing, and bandaids basically cured it right away. Do yoga or stretches before and/or after bed. even 10-20 minutes helps, but the more the better. Take a shower and put on moisturizer right after. Never too hot or too long. /u/dizzley would add that you should try a range of moisturizers until you find one to suit. People's needs differ. I use a product called Aveeno and my second choice is Aqueous Cream as it's called in the UK. /u/kikistiel Would like to add to number 2, before you put moisturizer on gently pat a toner on as well. People always forget the toner step but it’s so important! Imagine rubbing lotion on an dry sponge (no toner) vs a wet sponge (toner). It absorbs into the skin so much better and really makes a difference. You can get toners super cheap and I swear it’s like night and day :) If your skin often feels irritated, try buying softer clothing like undershirts and underwear. /u/stoicsticks said: If you're not sure if a fabric is going to be scratchy to wear, try rubbing it lightly against the inside of your wrist. The skin there is more sensitive than your hands or fingertips. If your nipples area often feels uncomfortable it could be due to chaffing. You can put on a bandaid with almond or olive oil. Correct your posture by being mindful of it throughout the day and doing stretches. *Sleep in a good position with knee and neck support. If your mattress sucks, biy a mattress topper. I hate eating vegetables but I love fruit so started eat more of that and lemme tell you, it helps. I have lots more energy throughout the day and it definitely helps. There was no pain, pretty much asymptomatic except for an overwhelming fear that something wasn't right. The ER doctor told me that if I had slept on it I might not have made it to the hospital. Too much caffeine in a day will give me a “bees in my teeth” type feeling. Like my skin is itchy on the inside of my body. Have a glass of water, it will help your body metabolize caffeine :) 23. /u/Sapiencia6 Sometimes you might find yourself irritable and annoyed by every little thing, the natural noises of your environment are suddenly grating, the light just isn't right, etc. Stress and anxiety can cause your sensory input to be overwhelming. Even if you don't feel that you would have any reason to suffer from sensory overload, keep some grounding exercises in your back pocket for when something "feels wrong" but you don't know why. 1. Focus on a tangible item in your environment. Think of as many adjectives as you can to describe it using each of your senses. What can you say about its visual appearance? What does it smell like, or what do you imagine it smells like? What would it sound like if you used it to make a noise? What does it feel like? What would it taste like? Do this for as many things in your surrounding as you need until you feel relaxed. 2. Close your eyes and take deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth. Count slowly to seven while you inhale, hold for seven, and time your exhale to seven. Then focus on tensing and releasing every muscle in your body, one by one, working down from your head to your toes. You may not realize where your body is holding tension, especially in your face. Tense your forehead, release. Tense your eyes, release. Your nose. Your jaw. Your whole face. Your neck. Your shoulders. Etc.
