I posted a comment in another sub to a Gen Z obsession with y2k core aesthetic. Like playboy bunny bedspread etc. I suppose many people their age don’t realize how different things were SOCIALLY growing up in this era. For example, I was 10 years old wearing thongs, watching Girls Next Door, MTV, VH1, etc., belly dancing - all these things I was TAUGHT by the television that it’s my job to be eye candy and a sex doll for men. That mindset even crept into many parent’s brains, mine being some of them. Maybe because my parents had me so young. Idk. I had STRICT parents in some respects, no black nail polish, no swearing. But I could wear a mini skirt and a bombshell bra at 14. I could read Cosmo magazine and learn about sex positions men like. I could read romance novels and I could be a cheerleader and I could do yoga at the pool in my bathing suit as a minor????? I could bleach my hair, wear all the makeup I wanted, hair extension. But don’t I dare post on social media about my opinions and thoughts. I always had a boyfriend at least 4 years older than me and when I was 18 I dated a man 10 years older who my parents welcomed into our home……. But, Don’t be cringe online don’t dare want to be an emo kid hahahaha. Don’t you dare dye your hair colorfully, and don’t you dare express yourself outside of what is now dubbed “bimbocore”. My mother did my hair and makeup until was leaving for college lmfao. It was a different time vanity wise, parenting wise, and sexuality wise. I’m trying to upgrade my makeup setup and want a vanity that has strong lighting for shade matching, enough drawer storage for palettes and brushes, and a mirror that does not distort. Most vanities I see either look cute but have no lighting or have lighting but no storage. Sharing a little corner that I’m so happy with! This window seat is a bit small and didn’t get used all that much. It was a spot to just toss clothes that weren’t quite dirty enough for the laundry. I decided to make a lil makeup vanity area for myself and I’m so happy with how it turned out! Thought I’d share in case any one was looking for some inspo for a small makeup area. I got a rechargeable LED mirror on Amazon (~$50) - I needed a mirror with magnification cause of my eyesight, but an aesthetic cutesy mirror would’ve probably looked x100 better. I got two picture ledges from IKEA that were $10 each. I already had containers that happened to fit perfectly. Okay so I started going out with this guy and it was great at first we talked all the time we would text everyday with goodnight and good morning texts, well in around January that stopped happening and i tried my best to keep it up but it was like I was getting no effort back, so I just wanted to see how long it would go on for and well our 7 months was not too long ago and I had sent him a message breaking up with him well while we were together he had built me a vanity and got me a pair of boots which yes i understand they were expensive but he gave me the option between the vanity or the boots am I an asshole for giving all of the stuff back except for the boots and vanity I’m not at home right now so it’s sitting on the curb for him curtsy of my mom.
