RE:Anyone else using a ping pong table in their shop / house setup?
Let me say it this way - a customer was clearing out a warehouse and offered me a 12ft x 5ft rolling table (heavy as all you could want) and 2 motorized contraptions that still powered up. We took all three items, scrapped the motors for $100 each and I still have the table. It has been 14 years! And next week I am picking up a 2nd firesafe paint storage cabinet (also free).

Garage Cabinet Recs
Hey guys, buying a new house and looking to see what people recommend for cabinets. It’ll be a 2 car garage I plane to put my fiances equinox in and my Yamaha bolt. I don’t wanna go as high end as sonic or proslat but taking some of the sales of my current house to dump into a new garage. Doing ghost polyaspartic floors and going to get a husky 72” tool chest as well. Other than that, I have to work around a Tesla power wall battery (see pics). Guess I’m looking for feedback on what people have. I like gladiator but not a fan of the diamond plate BS. Above the cabinets I wanna do shelves and overhead storage as well. This is what chatGPT spit out after a couple rounds of ideas. And no, im not doing hex lights. Haha submitted by /u/Here2Dissapoint to r/garageporn [link] [comments]

AIO for not letting my bf move in anymore because he wants things to be equal?
I don't mean he wants to be equal about absolutely everything, but these things stand out. So I (f25) have a large walk in closet in the master bedroom. I've already made plenty of room for my bf (m25). I showed him, but he is expecting to have half of the closet empty for his stuff. I have gotten rid of enough things so about 1/4 of the closet is empty for him. I know for a fact that all of his clothes/shoes will only take up about half of that so 1/8th of the closet. I would also be understanding if he needs more space later on and would get rid of more of my things as needed, but he hates shopping and has enough room to double his wardrobe so it doesn't seem necessary to get rid of more things right now. This is also just about clothes storage because there is plenty of storage around the rest of his house for his other things. The second main thing we got into was the spare rooms. I have two spare rooms in my house. One is currently my office/craft room which is the larger of the too. The other room was my old roommates room which was smaller. I totally understand him wanting a spare room for himself. So we originally were going to turn the smaller room into his room. But then he thought we would need a guest bed so we've been looking into getting on that looks like a cabinet and can be opened and pulled down as needed so it doesn't take up too much space. Though it will still take up a wall. My bf wanted the cabinet pull down bed in my room because its bigger. I did not because I don't really like the idea of having people in my office and I wouldn't want it to basically unusable to me when we do have houseguests. Also I don't really need a guest room. All my friends and family live nearby. It would be my bfs family that would be staying with us. So to me it makes more sense that they're in his room. So I suggested we switch the rooms so at least the cabinet bed will still be in the bigger room and not take up too much of his personal space. He wasn't a big fan of that idea because sometimes he will play games late at night which he thinks will be annoying if/ when we have guests. So then he started talking about us also getting an air mattress for my room so we can take turns with guests so we are equally inconvenienced by them since I do also stay up late sometimes to do stuff. I did end up standing firm on my room being my private place and we moved on from that, but this weekend I was working on packing stuff up in my office in preparation of moving the furniture over. While I was doing that I measure my furniture and the other room and was excited to find a configuration that will fit everything. It will be tighter, but all my furniture will fit fine and I think it will look very nice. Aside from a large trunk. There is a wide hallway outside the door and it fits right at the end there though. The furniture I'm moving into the smaller room are three book cases, two adjustable standing desks, and a cabinet. They're all very nice and matching. I'll also add that I have two desks because one is set up for my computer, the other is more for craft work. Both I use regularly. So I was telling my bf how it would all fit, but he told me he thought we would be splitting the furniture up since he doesn't really have any furniture for his room. His current desk is actually just a fold out card table and he's afraid it will look trashy to his family staying in there. So he thinks it would be fair for him to get one of the desks, at least one bookcase, and either the trunk or the cabinet. I don't know maybe I'm being selfish, but this is all rubbing me the wrong way. I just don't want to give up those things because it would mean giving up more of my stuff or just letting it sit on the floor in my room Losing the other desk would also suck because I often leave whatever craft I'm working on on my 2nd desk, but I wouldn't be able to do that with just one and it would be a pain to shuffle things around, but he says I could use the card table as my second desk, but its not as sturdy and its not adjustable so I can stand when I want to. Plus its just that this stuff is my stuff. So now with all these things I'm kind of not wanting him to move in at all anymore and I feel like I almost want to rethink this relationship because it feels like I've just seen the future where he's going to nitpick over everything being equal between us forever. I feel like I'm in a hard place though because he his landlord already found a new tenant for his room and he's supposed to be out of there by the end of the month. Also I should add that neither of us really makes a lot or has much spare money to spend on getting him new and nicer furniture for his room. I may sound like I have more money, but pretty much all the stuff in the house are things my parents gifted me or paid for. They used to support me a lot and gave me an allowance, but not since I got my first real job after college. The house itself is also theirs. They said it will be mine fully one day, but for right now I pay them rent. submitted by /u/OkJello353 to r/AmIOverreacting [link] [comments]

IKEA furniture is now too expensive for what you get.
We're going shopping to furnish 3 kids' rooms (my nieces and nephew). Everyone said "go to IKEA, they're cheap!" No, they really aren't anymore. I am looking at storage cabinets that cost $299-$799 for laminate or particle board flat pack furniture and up $1000 for a simple wardrobe. I used to love IKEA and admittedly haven't shopped there in a while but their prices are now close to the price of some hardwood already assembled furniture. IKEA used to be the cheaper option (outside of thrifting). They used to make up a lot of first apartment starter packs. They still have some cheap stuff don't get me wrong. Their accessories and home stuff are still well priced and the Billy bookcases still reign supreme but just a bit disappointing to see such high prices overall. Edit: Some people seem really hung up on me saying IKEA is expensive. I will copy another response I made: I said IKEA was getting expensive "for what you get." That is not the same as saying it's expensive overall. I don't shop at Shein but saying the same polyester dress from Shein that used to be $30 and is now being sold for $50 is expensive for what you get is not the same thing as saying a $50 dress is expensive. IKEA can be expensive for what you get while still being a lower price than other stores. Not everything they sell but just in general. The distinction is important. submitted by /u/A_Drop_of_Colour to r/unpopularopinion [link] [comments]

My Rookie Wood Project- Garage Storage Cabinet.
For my first wood project I took on a garage storage cabinet. Needed something to help sort pet supplies in the garage. I used 3/4” thick Sande Plywood and used the Kreg pocket hole jig for joints. Used about 1 1/2 sheets of plywood. Project took a lot longer than I thought it would since I’ve never done wood work and just started learning to use a table saw. Used soft-close bearing drawers slides for the drawer and inset door hinges for the bottom door. Overall, very happy with outcome. A true learning experience. submitted by /u/FaithFamilyHiker to r/BeginnerWoodWorking [link] [comments]

Aitah for using my grandma's china as my everyday food holders and not waiting for tea with King Charles
I was the last kid to leave home. I was an oops kid and my older brother and sister were in high school when I was born. After I finished university I asked my parents if I could stay at home to save up. They agreed so long as I paid for my own expenses and contributed $300 a month for food and utilities. Good deal for me. I then fell in love with a friend's neighborhood of little houses. I found one for sale and grabbed it. My parents downsized immediately to make sure none of us could ever move back. Okay that is facetious. They are retired and were tired of Midwest winters. My brother and sister are both married with children. My folks supported me and helped me get established in my career. I love them and am super thankful for everything they did for myself and my siblings. I asked them if they could please put my china cabinet, china and cutlery into storage with their stuff. They said they weren't going to get storage and were getting rid of everything they weren't going to use or store in their new place in Arizona. I asked if they could store the stuff for me and they said no. I got a couple of friends and we moved it into my new house. My house was built when the railroad was a bigger deal. They built entire neighborhoods for their workers. Tiny little houses with decent size yards for gardens or kids. So think 600 square feet. No basement. It still has a clothesline. A couple of months after I moved in I had a housewarming party. I had exactly four if everything from IKEA. Plus one pot, one pan, and an air fryer. So I used my fancy plates. My friends aren't children so none got damaged. Afterwards I realized that I had stuff like serving trays and gravy boats. Everything an adult needs to adult,l. Regarding food service anyways. So I just use them all the time. Mostly when I have people over but also when I have not done dishes and I want to not eat out of takeout containers over the sink. I was face timing with my folks and eating and they noticed that I was eating off a Royale Wedgewood Precious Moments plate using Ming Dynasty Imperial silverware. I may have some terms wrong here but you get the point. Mom asked me why I was using that plate and fork to eat. She said it was only for special occasions. That it was an heirloom meant to be cherished and protected for generations. Not exaggerating here. That's what she said. I told them that they were my plates and I would use them however I wanted. They got very upset and hung up. Then I got calls from my brother and sister. They both admitted they only called because mom told them to. They said to do whatever I wanted. They said that they weren't huge fans of fancy china but that mom had insisted it go on their registries. We hada big laugh and I promised to tell mom they told me to save my nice stuff for a Royal visit. My mom actually ordered me an eight person set of cheap china to use every day. I thanked her and I am using that instead. Unless I want to feel fancy. Don't tell my mom. submitted by /u/Salt_Reply_735 to r/AITAH [link] [comments]

Workshop hardware storage cabinet build
Started this two years ago and finally finished today this cabinet to organize all of my hardware. These drawers have been sitting in a pile for a year collecting mounds of dust so feels great to have it done. I think I may have gone overboard, but I'm so happy I did. Some people on here say "don't waste time on shop projects" but I want to have a shop I'm proud to be in and that I want to take care of... and I got to try out new things. I've never done any form of drawers before and now plan to make some of these for my bedroom closet. The cabinet uses: cherry for the face frame and drawer fronts, drawers are all 1/2" Baltic birch using the half/half/half method, full extension 18" drawer slides. Its built to hold Gridfinity bins which are all 3D printed. I've designed this and the workbench to all be modular/knock down as I'm in a rental and will need to move it all someday. No plans for it, but here is an online sketchup model of my workshop which includes the workbench and the cabinets. submitted by /u/jrj2211 to r/woodworking [link] [comments]

Turned a speaker cabinet into vinyl storage
Needed somewhere to store my vinyl and had this idea..I tore out the speakers of this speaker cabinet then built an internal cabinet inside that would hold two rows of vinyl. I lined the cabinet with vinyl wallpaper I had printed of a family photo collage. Then for dividers I used guitar strings. Finally I lined the rear panel with speaker fabric to bring back that guitar speaker look. The inspiration was those nightclub walls you see like with old photos. Photos taken with most of the vinyl left out. Pictures get lost a bit when the vinyl is in there, but definitely adds a cool feature when flicking through the records. Pretty happy with the result! submitted by /u/desmond234 to r/vinyl [link] [comments]

My daughter and I built a cabinet out of an old museum storage crate.
I work at a museum and they were giving away some old crates from the warehouse. My daughter (she's 5) helped me turn one of them into an arcade cabinet. It's our first build and I couldn't be more delighted with how it turned out. It was her idea to put the leaves on it so it "looks like it's in the jungle" as well as leave the marquee open so she could put her Mario Legos on it. Brilliant. We also left it unpainted on purpose because the intention is to add doodles and stickers from our road trips so it looks like this old box that's traveled all over the world. This might be my new most treasured possession. submitted by /u/Capn_Spaceship to r/cade [link] [comments]
