I'm not really active on Reddit, but I felt I had to show off my completed Oseberg Tapestry sweater
After 9 months of work, it's finally complete! This was my first stranded colourwork project, first sweater in the round, and first time steeking. I used the Oseberg Tapestry chart by Molly Gifford: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/oseberg-tapestry I drafted the two little ravens on the sleeves: they appear in part of the original 9th century tapestry fragments that this pattern is based on and may be the earliest known depiction of the mythological Huginn and Muninn. Tapestry Lawn - My 3 Year Project
A fellow redditor nudged me for an update on my tapestry lawn recently. Here it is after three years, finally filled in completely =) First photo is how it looks today. The following photos show my project from start to finish over the years, putting in the wildlife pond and then all the plants. I couldn't afford to create a tapestry lawn the "recommended" way (dense tiles of plants so it's a full carpet of foliage from day one) so I took the slow but rewarding route of starting with smaller and cheaper plants spaced apart, and waiting for them to grow together. submitted by /u/-Darkstorne- to r/GardeningUK [link] [comments]

For better and for worse, I'm down with a tapestry bug
The hyperfixation has been real and I really flew through this one which, to be far, is smaller than I'm used to. Just 17 colours and less than 100 stitches wide (or tall, I suppose, since it's turned on its side :P). Since the beginning of last year, I've been working on a long term project of crocheting each of the 8 Stray Kids members and I'm down to the last 2 now. How I'll figure out what to do when those last two are done I have no idea ahaha submitted by /u/goldensunnysky to r/crochet [link] [comments]

My first tapestry crochet, how’d I do?
I’m disappointed with how some of the stitches look, tension is pretty uneven, and the black yarn bled when I wet blocked it :( but overall I still love it! I’ve only been crocheting for a little over a year, and I think tapestry is my favorite so far! A little over a year since I started, I feel like I've finally mastered this tapestry crochet thing
I made my first tapestry portrait and first larger tapestry in January last year, and a little over a year later I've now made a total of 7 + 2 halves that I'll probably never finish. I've been getting faster and (I think) better with every one, but working on this one was the first time I felt like I knew exactly what I was doing and why throughout the entire process. Of course improvement never ends, but I'm proud of how much my skills have developed. With this tapestry, I've crocheted portraits of 5/8 of all the Stray Kids members. I'll probably finish the last 3 within 2026. The tapestry crochet addiction is real 😅 submitted by /u/goldensunnysky to r/crochet [link] [comments]

Absolute beginner and trying out tapestry! What am I doing wrong?
Hi! So as you can see, the rabbits are all weird looking and the pattern at the top is... not even recognizable 😆 I realize now I made a few mistakes even just counting the stitches on the bunnies, so there's that lol But yeah the pattern doesn't even look the same 😆 It's all single crochet but the stitches don't look... "square" enough, idk What am I doing wrong? Thank you sm! submitted by /u/Great-Doughnut-9519 to r/CrochetHelp [link] [comments]

Finally finished my second tapestry
Bought this pattern a little over two years ago, still riding the high of completing my first (and much smaller!) tapestry. Bit off a little more than I could chew 😅 But now it's finally done! It's about 3x4 ft, minus the tassels. Adding in extra details like the flowers and the border was really worth it, even if it made finishing the whole thing take even more time. Does anyone *actually* like tapestry crochet?
My son is obsessed with Venom. He asked me for a Venom blanket. Made this design with stitch fiddle and figured it may take a little over a month (I only get about 1-2 hours/day to crochet). I have sunk 8 hours into this thing and I’m only 1/7 finished 😭 The color changes take forever and I think they look horrible! My son is so excited though, so I can’t let him down. Does anyone actually like this?! If so, who hurt you? submitted by /u/CrochetCafe to r/crochet [link] [comments]

First tapestry, first sweater, first mental breakdown
A sweater based on Latella, an Austrian whey drink I’m a fan of 🥭 I started crocheting fairly recently, and in retrospect I should’ve attempted an easier project to practice both tapestry- and sweater crafting. I definitely didn’t pay too much attention to my tension, so the finished garment turned out a little bit wonky structurally. It still fits alright after blocking though, but oh boy does the wet wool stink! Compiled a reference picture in photoshop, made a graph in StitchFiddle, and used this video (https://youtu.be/oZK7Md-XLJI?si=w8j280epIAJjxlEa) for structural guidance. Respects to all the ends that will never be woven in, silence for all the dog haired that got forever stuck in the loops. Very happy I did it!!! submitted by /u/DairyFrei to r/crochet [link] [comments]

I keep making more and more time intensive tapestry portraits
I was planning to go on a break after my last one, but I'm a crochet addict and couldn't help myself. I'm so proud of this one: as a work of my craft it's very likely the best I've ever done, even if I'm less pleased with how it turned out in terms of being a portrait. Put in around 130 hours for this one all planning (and frogging - do NOT get yourself into a situation where you have to frog a tapestry with this many colours) included. Basically all of my free time for the last month went to this, but it was definitely worth it! submitted by /u/goldensunnysky to r/crochet [link] [comments]

My most complex tapestry yet!
22 colours of yarn, 100+ hours, and plenty of untangling later, it's finished! Somewhere around the halfway mark I was sure I would hate it, but I'm actually so proud! Now to find the perfect place to hang it... Bonus: before blocking, plus the back before adding interfacing (to escape weaving in all those ends lol. Though honestly, the back wasn't nearly as bad as I anticipated) submitted by /u/goldensunnysky to r/crochet [link] [comments]

This is my first tapestry work in progress and I need motivation to not give up
I made a little sample before and was like "I love tapestry, I need a bigger project" but I didn't anticipated the HELL that it is to constantly untangle everything because it has so many colors! I stopped 2 months ago because I was bored of the design (that I made with stitch fiddle, 2nd slide). Now I decided to give it a try to finish it, do you think it's worth it ? submitted by /u/Helpful_Armadillo219 to r/crochet [link] [comments]
