Stupid question of the day - just these past couple weeks I've visited several random friend's houses. I'm surprised to see how many have air purifiers running nonstop in multiple rooms. I'm wondering if this is actually that common? lol submitted by /u/deejayv2 to r/homeowners [link] [comments]

What's your best pick of home air purifier currently? Are they really worth it?
This topic are being getting asked a ton, so I'm going to help you to choose the right one for your home. Before take a look at the list of the best air purifiers for home on the market currently, there are 03 key things that come to mind: What to look for when buying size of space and CARD Air cleaners are based on the square footage of a room. A small device is not suitable for cleaning a larger area, the same rings true with air cleaners and purifiers. So using small air cleaners for a big room will be useless. It WONT have enough prowess to eliminate contaminants from the air. On the other hand...if you use a big air purifier for smaller spaces, it can be an overkill and will just be a waste of money. Air purifiers will have this specification labeled properly. You'd easily know how many floor areas a specific air cleaner can cover. Determining where you want to place the air purifier can also help you pick the right size. Another more scientific approach to help you figure out what size of air purifier to buy is by knowing the CADR. Most brands of air purifiers come with a card number. This is a metric measurement that helps us know how effective an air purifier is at cleaning various particles in a particular room size. The higher the CADR number, the faster it can clean out air particles. Air purifiers with higher CADR ratings will be more beneficial in larger and more spacious rooms. There is also a simple way of computing the CADR. You need an air purifier with a CADR number that should cover at least two-thirds of your room. But keep in mind that it’s better to get one that has a higher CADR than the needed CADR for your room. cost/budget (this includes calculations about replacement filter cost as well as how long a replacement filter will last. 6 months? 1 year? 2 or more years?) Also, cost of maintenance shouldnt be missed. There are two cost components in owning an air purifier. The upright fee and the cost of maintenance. Filters are replaceable and you need to buy a new one when it becomes saturated, otherwise, it will not be efficient in cleaning anymore. Some filters are cheaper, but they often need to be replaced more often than more expensive filters. So you have to consider this continuing cost if you decide to buy air filters. the air changes per hour(ACH) This refers to the number of times that all the air in your room will be cycled through your air purifier within an hour. Often, you can see this in the product description, so it pays to read the fine print. You can also manually calculate this by measuring the volume of the room vs the capacity of the device. Efficient air filters should have at least two air changes per hour. But if you have more pollutants in the air, you should get one that has a higher number, especially if you also want to lessen the load of tobacco smoke if you have a higher concentration of bacteria or viruses in your homes. An air purifier with an ACH rating of 4-6 is king when it comes to this specific need. Air Purifiers are a rabbit hole
Hi I’m looking for a good air purifier, I don’t know very much but I like to do my research and find what’s good for my money. Im not even entirely sure what I’m looking for. So far I’ve looked at - WINIX 5520 - Levoit Vital 200S - Xiaomi 4 Compact - Kenmore PM1005 Should I look for something else? I know air purifiers seem fairy simple, but this rabbit hole keeps getting deeper. I have a small bedroom and kitchen it’s not that big, but I plan on moving into a house this year Lol so if you have any advice or support I’d appreciate it! The Best Air Purifiers Right Now?
I’m looking for a great air purifier that’s effective, reliable, and worth the investment. The options out there are overwhelming with all the different specs like CADR ratings, coverage area, filters HEPA vs carbon, noise levels, and smart connectivity. Have you found any air purifiers that really stand out in real-world use? I’m open to splurging if it’s worth it, but I also want some budget-friendly options that actually get the job done. I’ve seen brands like Dyson, Coway, Levoit, Honeywell, and Philips recommended, but I trust real experiences over ads. If you’ve tried one and loved it or regretted it please share the honest take especially filter lifespan, noise, and performance in bedrooms/living rooms. submitted by /u/emmalucy789 to r/BuyItForLife [link] [comments]

Will I actually benefit from buying an air purifier?
I WFH and spend pretty much 80% of my time in my apartment. I've never had an air purifier in my bedroom, and my health seems fine. There's a decent amount of dust because my floor is carpeted, but I keep the windows closed and there's generally no polluted air that would enter as a result (although there are open windows in my living room). Will there be any noticeable benefits if I install an air purifier in my bedroom? Am I slowly poisoning myself every day by breathing in unfiltered air? Or is it mostly just marketing, fear mongering and placebo? submitted by /u/anotherhappylurker to r/AirPurifiers [link] [comments]

You can totally try allergy meds if you think that is the issue. My pediatrician recommends Zyrtec; we have given it a few times. I analyzed 1 year of air purifier recommendations on Reddit (Nov 2024–2025)
I posted a version in April. Some of you have been asking for an updated version so here’s one. This time I’ve also added the brand rankings to help contextualise the rankings better. This is part of my project to tinker with Reddit data and LLMs. Wanted to create something useful for the community while levelling up my coding chops. The idea is to highlight which air purifiers got the most love. To be clear, most love =/= best. But hopefully it’s a useful data point nonetheless, especially for those overwhelmed by info. Obviously this is a very general list. It gets more interesting when you slice and dice the data. If you want to explore the data, see the individual verbatim comments, filter by price, subreddits, comments about whether it handles smoke/pets/allergies/etc well, you can do so on my main project page. Disclaimer: some links on the page are affiliate. You don’t have to use them but they help fund the analyses. Methodology in the comments. submitted by /u/heyyyjoo to r/BuyItForLife [link] [comments]

Air in Delhi is poison and the govt watches silently. Rich can buy purifiers, what about the rest of us?
Every winter, Delhi turns into a gas chamber and the people who suffer the most are the ones who can’t afford protection. Air purifiers cost as much as a month’s salary for many households, and even then they only help indoors. Step outside and you’re breathing toxic air that affects kids, elderly people, and daily workers the worst. submitted by /u/SpyJigu to r/delhi [link] [comments]

Before buying a Air Purifier, understand this.
Repurposed from a comment I just wrote. Not a social warrior - so I am not talking about what could have been done or what should have been done for air pollution. It's just about doing the best anyone can. I have been using Air Purifiers from 2017-2018. Here is what I have learned over the last 7-9 years. Clean Air is not at all cheap , especially if you do this that scales for a family. You need to replace the filter every 3 months on an average. That's 1500x4 = 6000 a year. Each purifier covers about 350sqft of floor space. You generally need at least 4 in a 3 bedroom apartment (or a home with 1000-1200 sqft carpet area). So that's 24k annually in filter replacements You need to keep your doors and windows closed most of the day and keep the purifier running. It becomes a chore after a while - so you end up installing spring or hydraulic based door closers on every door - 1k each. Next, if you have seniors living at home, the purifiers in their rooms are extremely important. However, in winters they will create a draft of air gushing in (it's a fan on the floor! Air rushes in from under the doors). It makes the room colder, and the column air the filter throws up - it irritates either the seniors feet of face! So you have to make sure you put door seals at the bottom and sides - at least in the outside doors. And some extra warm blankets on the bed! Body pillows on the bed edges work great too.And no, you should not sleep with the purifier off. 0 benefits of running it periodically. On top of this, in a closed home(6 or more people), and closed bedroom (2 or more people), you need to be mindful about CO2 buildup. Door bottom seals prevent drafts , but make sure sides and tops are not sealed for some flow. And have atleast 2 small ingress (1x1 Ft) and exgress for air with relatively lower resistance filter - those electrostatic filters people use for AC's. That maintains the oxygen and CO2 levels. You might start feeling headaches if you do not manage CO2 levels and is the number one reason people don't feel better even after using a Air Purifier. Then, you need to understand that your kitchen , while cooking, will generate a good amount of pm 2.5 and other particulates - something that will turn your home AQI from under 10 to 500+ within just a few minutes (That masala being fried, that roti on stove, and that pressure cooker whistle, that tadka - that's all it takes!). So , you need to have a good ventilation (Forced ventilation, think exhaust) in your kitchen. And because a lot of air is being forced out of the kitchen, a lot of air should come in too - which means polluted air coming in again. So , you have to keep kitchen kind of open but slightly segregated from the rest of the home - or you clog up your filters. So exhaust, ventilation, and a segregation screen - those clear plastic curtains you see in commercial kitchens work great, but you can have aesthetic stuff too. That last would be electricity expense. 4 filters, 30-50W each. Take 120-200 w/h, and run 20 hours a day. That's 2400-4000 wh, or 2.4 to 4 units of electricity a day. 70-120 Units a month. Cost- 490-900 Per month. Having a purifier as a bachelor is one thing. Having something for a family with seniors and kids is not an easy thing. submitted by /u/subobj to r/noida [link] [comments]

I Built my Personal Air Purifier for 2000 INR
So I built this air purifier using exhaust fan and hepa filter and it is working great, even better than the phillips one I have. Items used - 150mm Exhaust fan (750 INR) - HEPA filter from Amazon (1000 INR) - Switch and Regulator + Wire (65 INR) - Card board and Glue gun (150 INR) It is able to bring 380 AQI to below 50 in less than 15 minutes at minimum fan speed. Note - Using my phillips air purifier in the background as sensor. submitted by /u/shukrant25 to r/delhi [link] [comments]

My mother insists on having this "air purifier" plugged in.
Even one of the Amazon reviews says it caught fire. So I have confiscated it. submitted by /u/willster97 to r/mildlyinfuriating [link] [comments]

The REAL best air purifier - I HATE DUST!
I am looking for truly THE BEST air purifier for home use. I hate dust, and I’m allergic to it. Price doesn’t matter to me as long as it’s actually the best at collecting dust. I don’t want any bullshit options, I’m looking only for the best air purifier out there, not some marketing-filled crap (and there are A LOT of those among air purifiers that don’t do shit). What would you recommend? submitted by /u/iku-ebi to r/BuyItForLife [link] [comments]

A couple of days ago, russians destroyed the first-ever "green school" in Ukraine, built in 2016 in the Kherson region w/ the help of Finland. It was energy efficient, had air purifiers & drinkable tap water.

My sister in law just sent me a viral video on Tik Tok of someone with the same air purifier as me going to change the filter and realizing the filter had never been taken out of the package. Naturally I go to check mine and sure enough!! I have been using this every single day for 6 months...
