I have a lot of mosquitos swarming over my outdoor enclosure anytime it’s over 50 degrees F outside despite dumping the water every night when I bring them inside. There’s no standing water nearby. My turtles are 2025 babies plus one who lived in an apartment without lighting or heat for her first two years, so they’re used to being indoors, and I don’t have a lid on the enclosure yet that I trust against nocturnal predators, so they come in every night and when the weather is not agreeable. I have a citronella candle, but I’m hesitant to spray anything that could harm the turtles (or hummingbirds or butterflies in my garden). Are mosquito repelling plants turtle friendly or helpful? I have raised beds nearby that I can plant stuff in if it’ll help, but the plants are not turtle friendly. Are the mosquitoes an issue for the turtles or just for me? Are any bugs a problem? I imagine in nature that they would encounter all kinds of bugs, right? They spend a lot of time buried.
