Can I get help?
I’m trying to create a custom king size bed frame. I’m thinking I would source the wood. Take the wood to a shop to get made. Then take it to an upholstery shop to finish it. I’m getting confused on the layers and sequence of layers. I want something luxurious. I realize the photo shows an excessive amount of layers but can anyone help me recommend the very best sequence of materials, thickness, and how much this should go for? I’m also going to work with an electrical and a metal fabrication shop for the details around the base. submitted by /u/RESERVED_001 to r/upholstery [link] [comments]

California King Mattress vs. Standard King: The Honest Truth About Which One You Actually Need
Hey everyone, There is a massive, incredibly common myth out there that a California King is just a "bigger, more premium" version of a Standard King. It’s not. In fact, if you blindly buy a Cal King thinking you’re getting the biggest bed on the market, you might end up seriously disappointed (especially if you have wide shoulders or a wide bedroom). Before you drop $1,000+ on a new mattress, here is the exact breakdown of how they compare, the hidden costs, and how to choose the right one for your body and your space. The Big Blueprint: Dimensions & Total Space The easiest way to remember the difference is this: Kings are wider, California Kings are longer. Crucially, a Standard King actually has more total surface area than a California King. Feature Standard King (Eastern King) California King (Western King) Dimensions 76" Wide x 80" Long 72" Wide x 84" Long Total Surface Area 6,080 square inches 6,048 square inches Best For Couples, side-by-side space, co-sleeping Tall individuals (6'2"+), narrow rooms Accessory Availability Extremely common (easy to find sheets) Harder to find (limited styles in stores) Price (Mattress) Base Price Usually identical to King, sometimes a premium Why Choose a Standard King? The Standard King is the undisputed ruler of width. At 76 inches wide, it gives you and your partner the equivalent of your own Twin XL mattress pushed together. Pros: It’s amazing for couples who want maximum personal space. If you have kids or pets who crawl into bed with you on Saturday mornings, the extra width is a lifesaver. Plus, you can find King-sized sheets and bed frames absolutely everywhere. Cons: Because it is practically square, it can make narrow bedrooms look incredibly cramped and block walkways. Why Choose a California King? The California King drops 4 inches of width to add 4 inches of length. Pros: If you or your partner are 6’2” or taller, this is your holy grail. On a standard King, your feet might hang off the edge or your head will hit the headboard. The Cal King solves this. It’s also visually better for long, narrow bedrooms. Cons: It cuts down on your side-to-side personal space. If you like to starfish in the middle of the bed, you will feel the missing 4 inches of width. The "Hidden Costs" of a California King Before you buy a Cal King, you need to budget for the accessories. While the mattresses themselves often cost the exact same price as a standard King, the bedding does not. Cal King sheets, comforters, bed frames, and box springs are much harder to find in physical stores. You will almost always have to buy them online, and brands frequently charge a premium for the rarer dimensions. Pro-Tip: Never try to put Standard King sheets on a Cal King mattress. They will either snap off the corners instantly or leave a bunch of loose, bunched-up fabric in the middle. The Final Verdict Buy a Standard King if: You are under 6'2", you sleep with a partner who tosses and turns, you have kids/pets sharing the bed, or your bedroom is wide. Buy a California King if: You or your partner are over 6'2", your feet always hang off the bed, or your bedroom is long and narrow. For those who have owned both: Did you miss the width of the King or the length of the Cal King more? Drop your thoughts below! submitted by /u/One_Mess525 to r/MattressBuyers [link] [comments]

Bulk procurement = 30–50% savings, but only with AVL suppliers and expert management. Master the process: supplier vetting, certification, custom development, project management, and logistics. How good is this deal w/ a free bed foundation?
Fiancée and I are looking to get a bit more space as we are starting to prioritize our health/sleep and now have a dog. Currently on a queen with a foam mattress topper, often times we wake each other up from tossing/turning. For me personally, I find the bed really uncomfortable (it’s hers she brought it when we moved in) to the point where I get a better nights sleep on our couch. My top half tends to sink into the bed, giving the feeling of sleeping upside down no matter my position. We got the mattress topper primarily for me, because it’s a very firm mattress. For the first month my hips and arms were falling asleep (extreme discomforting numbness) as I tend to sleep on my stomach or side. First time I’d ever experienced that. My Fiancée is more concerned with price, but I’m always willing to shell out a little more for the long term investment and benefits. Is this a good deal or would I be wasting my money on a subpar mattress? She’s also concerned with the free bed frame they’re offering due to aesthetics (she wants a headboard). It’s very basic and there don’t seem to be any options with a headboard. Thanks in advance, this is complete uncharted territory for us. submitted by /u/Temporary-Act-7655 to r/Mattress [link] [comments]

I need help finding a cal-king bed frame!
I need help finding a bed frame that is sturdy but also goes with our current room furniture. We have a white upholstered bed frame we got from wayfair 2-3 years ago and it is beat tf up now. The first year we had it, it was on carpet, supportive, and I was in love. We moved out to a new rental that has gray vinyl plank flooring (sad, I know), and now our bed slips on the floor constantly. We tried the non-slip pads under but they wore away fast. Over the past 1-2 years the slipping has caused the metal supports to bend, and now my side of the bed sags and I have back pain every morning. Our mattress is a cal-king we got from Costco 3 years ago and it’s the best and most cozy mattress ever, but now the bed issues are making me want to sleep on the couch. We have a dark green wall, rattan end tables and will be keeping the white comforter. I am also looking to have a bohemian vibe in the room, so any other suggestions are welcome. My budget is around $200-$300 for the bedframe, headboard or no headboard is fine. The green wall photo is our room currently. submitted by /u/AstronautChoice4941 to r/bedroom [link] [comments]

Help Elevate Our Small Bedroom!
Hey everyone! My wife (31F) and I (30M) are trying to make our ~11'9" x 11'5" bedroom feel more intentional and grown-up. Right now it looks like a leftover from our college days – our massive Cal King bed setup dominating everything and awkward closet doors/access. We want something modern, cozy, and luxurious without feeling cramped, ideally with better storage, a focal wall behind the bed, and a layout that opens things up. Room Details: Size: ~11'9" x 11'5" (not including a small entry bump-out). The closet is appx. 30"D including the wall, and the room would be closer to 11'9" x 13'11" if it wasn't there Fixed elements: A utility/water heater enclosure on one wall that can't move, and the room can't be made larger Bed Setup: Tempur-Pedic California King mattress on an Ergo adjustable base, inside a big upholstered frame. Dimensions: 85.5" wide x 99" long x 54" tall headboard (see attached bed image for details) I've attached: Bed dimensions image Layout 1: Current setup with existing closet Layout 2: Moved bedroom door back and changed bathroom door swing Layout 3: Closet and furniture removed Would love your thoughts on best layout, closet placement, bed frame alternatives, storage hacks, or even quick mockups! Budget is flexible but aiming for renter-friendly changes. Thanks! submitted by /u/Southern_Can_2348 to r/DesignMyRoom [link] [comments]

Really strong CalKing bed frame?
I'm a big guy - 400lbs, 6'5" - moving to a new house, and I'd like to have a bed that will actually survive me for once. After extensive research, I've settled on the Saatva HD California king with the Adjustable Plus frame they sell. The question, then: what bed frame? I thought I'd struck gold when I found the well-rated Thuma classic that supports 1500lbs, but digging deeper, its flat top and low headboard are said to look ridiculous with a tall mattress/base. Other frames often don't list a weight limit online, and especially don't if you get something from a physical store or made by a carpenter. My question, then: Is there something around the $1k-2.5k range of bed frames that: Works with an adjustable, zero-clearance base, specifically Saatva Can be delivered to the continental US Doesn't look like cheap junk Is deep enough that a high mattress/base doesn't look silly Has a headboard Is strong enough that I can flop in to it without hearing the dying gasp of overworked wood submitted by /u/mwoody450 to r/Mattress [link] [comments]

Review of the B6N Queen frame
B6N- Queen frame I ordered a queen frame without the headboard as it looked space saving in the pictures. I read a bunch of decent reviews about the product and also how easy it was to assemble. It arrived in about 4-5 days, seemed reasonably well packed (although the package seemed to have taken a some hits along the way but was not damaged internally) My wife and I put all the pieces on the floor as per the pictures and videos. A small diagram of which piece goes where would have been great as we were trying to figure out whether the A1,A2 on both sides were length wise or breadth wise. Turns out we first arranged A1-A1 and A2-A2 length wise and started the assembly. We could not get the breadthwise plank to fit at the head side. After struggling for a few minutes we decided to arrange them the other way;A1-A2 and A1-A2 and everything fit well after that. While this was probably obvious to most people it would be nice if there was a figure shipped along with the package or if it was on the website somewhere. Assembly was smooth mostly after that; we felt that the Velcro at some of the edges was not sticking well i. e if we pressed one side of the bed the other side would become a little loose. This is still concerning as I think it might just break but after placing our mattress on this and it seems solid. Have not used it a whole lot since it is the guest bedroom but initial impressions are that it is a solid product. I might update this in a couple of months as it goes through more "guest" traffic. But again I have to say it is priced so much better than competition and the quality is right up there. My other bed in the master is a Thuma (cal king) but if I had to do it all over again, I'll definitely buy the B6N( if they make a cal-king size - I see only a king). We love it mainly for its sturdiness and its low footprint. I did not get the headboard - not sure how easy it is to get one and fix it later. For this price this seems to be a "solid" value for money so far. submitted by /u/Crazy_Professional58 to r/FlexiSpot_Official [link] [comments]

Help me pick headboard and comforter color(s)
My wife and I purchased a Cal King bed and therefore can’t use our queen headboard/frame that was purchased as a set with our nightstands and dressers (cherry dark wood). We also need to purchase a new comforter/duvet. The carpet is beige and the walls are a bluish green shade. We were considering an ivory/cream headboard and comforter but would appreciate other advice on color options. submitted by /u/Oelsnores to r/DesignMyRoom [link] [comments]

Thuma vs Silk & Snow
I feel at least between these two brands I can make a judgement since I have both. 1. Cal-King Thuma bed (no headboard) Bad More expensive Looks to me aren't as nice (more solid grain look). Good Vastly easier to assemble 2. Queen Silk and snow (with headboard). Bad Center support legs are a legit nightmare to install. No Cal-King size Good Cheaper Better Looking IMO (more of a patchwork look). Conclusion I was really disappointed in the Silk and Snow bed assembly. I did the install myself and spent more time trying to get the center legs installed than anything else. It sucks all the ease of assembly these beds are supposed to give you. Basically they're support system in the center has two roughly finished legs with dowel pins that fit in from underneath the center support beam. I spent way to much time trying to get the center legs into the center support beam which lifts the bed frame and causes a side corner of the bed to come loose. Of course the center support legs fall away as soon as I fixed the corner bed frame joint. Rinse-repeat. I will NOT being buying another Silk and Snow bed, the assembly was that annoying. submitted by /u/dagon138 to r/Mattress [link] [comments]

SoftFrame Ultra Bed Frame dupes/alternatives
As title says, looking to purchase a bed frame that somewhat like this. Ideal budget is sub $750 for a king sized frame, but could be a little flexible. https://softframedesigns.com/products/the-ultra-set-upholstered-bed-frame-and-headboard?variant=34930979307687 https://preview.redd.it/qjq5h1jrjboe1.jpg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=56a280a6b4c3adbfaf13eec3a39f83301f8a1141 What draws me to this bed frame is the sunken design and the sides of the frame and how they stick out a few inches from the bed. It's almost as if the bed frame is cradling the bed itself. Another draw is that the frame is flat on the ground, which stops my cat from getting underneath the bed. If I can't find anything, this bed could be purchased w/o the headboard for within my budget, but just wondering if anyone here has seen any other bed frames/dupes of this frame that's sub $750 with the headboard. I've seen Thumas, but those are more expensive than this. submitted by /u/DickSkinMcGee to r/malelivingspace [link] [comments]

Ideal budget is sub $750 for a king sized frame, but could be a little flexible. https://softframedesigns.com/products/the-ultra-set-upholstered-bed-frame-and-headboard?variant=34930979307687 https://preview.redd.it/mwouidgxhboe1.jpg?width=1369&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d36a7bc19bb8f3548b77b1a2d2704e9c3e328b70 What draws me to this bed frame is the sunken design and the sides of the frame and how they stick out a few inches from the bed. I've seen Thumas, but those are more expensive than this. submitted by /u/DickSkinMcGee to r/BuyItForLife [link] [comments]

A Good Nights Sleep Was So Much Less Complicated
I remember in my late teens and early 20's sleeping buck naked on a twin mattress on the floor of my apartment bedroom with only the cheapest comforter available from Target was the absolute best sleep of my life. Now I'm 50 and last night I managed to string together about 73 minutes of uninterrupted sleep using only: $5000 Tempur-Pedic memory foam Cal King bed (with box spring, frame and headboard) and no less than 4 different softness and shapes of pillows. Heated mattress pad 800 thread count sheets Weighted Comforter Knee pillow CPAP machine Mouth guard Black out eye mask Headphones (usually rain and thunder noises, sometimes audiobooks) 10.Pajamas 11.Small fan blowing on my face year 'round submitted by /u/midwest-distrest to r/GenX [link] [comments]

Tables of Data for Adjustable Zero Gravity Capable Bed Frames of models made by Leggett & Platt, Ergomotion, and Reverie
TL;DR While thinking about this decision, I made a table showing key specs, and became a self-proclaimed expert instantly. Explanation in post (and a comment reply from me) here https://old.reddit.com/r/Mattress/comments/1bnd6q7/shopping_for_adjustable_zero_gravity_frame/ Important Note: Keep in mind each model likely has slight variations not presented in the table data below. After I organized this data into a table yesterday and then visited a mattress store looking at some of the models, I realized seeing slight differences in designs, etctera, and I didn't think about it until I saw the differences at the store. ErgoMotion shows 2 year, 5 year parts, 10 year limited warranty Leggett & Platt will not publicly disclose their warranty information that varies by model (as indicated in the FAQ), but it's probably similar to "1 year, 3 year and 25 year limited warranty" lumbar support? ErgoMotion Rio 4.0 doesn't mention lumbar on the page, but the manual mentions lumbar. Manuals for v1,2,3 do not mention lumbar support, but v4,5,6 do. v5,6 pages show lumbar support head pillow tilt? I don't understand this too well, but I see ErgoMotion Rio v5 and v6 appear to have different implementations of this, and L&P only has 1 model with it, so I'm not sure how to interpret this yet wallhugger? ErgoMotion calls it wall saver. Leggett & Platt calls it wallhugger. anti-snore? Apparently it's to slightly elevate the upper portion of the bed, and if other sleepers can't sleep from sound of snoring, this may automatically (or manually?) interrupt/disrupt/cease the snoring. I assume for manual one-touch anti-snore button pressings, there should be another human available to press that button, otherwise for single sleepers with no nonsleeping humans, anti-snore is useless unless automated by nonhuman automation. submitted by /u/jkhanlar to r/Mattress [link] [comments]

Bedframe/Headboard suggestions?
I have a Cal King P5 360 Smart Bed, with the integrated base/frame. Does anyone have any suggestions, or what do you use, for a new frame and headboard? Or maybe just a headboard, with some storage space, and charging ports? I'm finding it very difficult to find anything. Thanks for any help/suggestions! submitted by /u/BFireGA to r/sleepnumber [link] [comments]

King adjustable base with a cal king mattress?
So I shopped at a Brooklyn Bedding store recently for a California king. Mattress was OK, but I really liked their adjustable base and price. The salesman said they use the same universal split base for a king and cal king. We also had a specific conversation about placing the base inside a full cal king bed frame with side rails and headboard to fancy it up a bit. I found a mattress elsewhere but ordered the base from BB. Not sure what I expected, but I assembled it tonight and there is nothing “universal” about it. It’s two simple twin XL bases that together measure 79” long by 74” wide. So my cal king will hang over the head by 5 inches. And I’m worried it may be too wide to fit it inside a cal king bed frame. Anyone have experience with using a king base with a cal king? I’m tempted to return it but I’m pretty sure I’d have to fight it. Because their web site calls the base a king. But I wouldn’t have bought it if the salesman hadn’t told me they were universal. He even wrote us a “quote” for the cal mattress and same split adjustable base combo on a business card but it’s not exactly an official document. Just looking to see if I’m worried about nothing. Any help would be appreciated. submitted by /u/dreamin-the-live to r/Mattress [link] [comments]

Hey r/frugal, you guys gave me some great mattress buying intel, so now I want to share how it went!
Earlier this week I asked for mattress buying advice considering my priorities were quality, comfort, then price. The two most useful websites you referred me to were sleeplikethedead.com and mattressunderground.com. sleeplikethedead.com was a great source for reviews broken down by types of mattresses, then individual mattresses within each type. The customer satisfaction ratings helped me narrow my search. mattressunderground.com is basically a crash course on the inner workings of the mattress industry and sales structure. I'd equate it to reading "car buying for dummies" before walking onto a car lot. So, freshly enlightened and having a price range we wanted to shoot for ($2000 or below) my wife and I set out to test drive some mattresses. We had found a highly rated queen size mattress on bedinabox.com (that website was also highly rated for online shopping satisfaction). We used this bed as a baseline for our in store shopping. It met all our needs, had a good warranty and return policy, and was under $2000 to our door. (mattress only, no box spring). With this knowledge we hit our first mattress store. It was a small locally owned place in our town, and the night we walked in it was a ghost town. The lone salesman working happened to be the owner. I was expecting a "car salesman" vibe, but he was quite laid back and pleasant. He shook our hands, invited us to look around and lay on some beds, and said he would check on us in a few minutes to see if we had any questions. My wife and I agreed not to look at price tags that might taint our opinion, and just lay on every bed in the store (which we did). Though our first choices didn't overlap, our "strong second" ended up being the same bed, a memory foam/inner spring hybrid made by one of the "big S" brands. I looked at the price. Everything in that line queen or bigger was north of $2000. At this point the owner came over and engaged us in a surprisingly candid conversation about the state of the mattress industry. I think he saw me looking up the model in my phone, because he mentioned how reputable internet stores with generous return policies were cutting into the brick and mortar stores sales number. He also mentioned the price fixing schemes that most of the top brands now engage in. I wondered where he was going with this until he came out with "So the only weapon left in my war chest is unbeatable customer service". He said "I cant lower the price of the mattress, but I can beat the heck out of making you wait for a 200lb box to show up in the mail." He pulled out his business card, turned it over and wrote down the model of the bed we liked, then put the price, and a list of other perks. Free bedframe, box spring, free next day delivery, setup and removal of the old set. Free mattress protective cover, and a 100 day money back guarantee, plus 12 months same as cash if we wanted it. He even said "And I'll call you on the tenth and eleventh month to remind you so you don't go over and get retroactive interest charges". So, this was where it got interesting. I thanked him, told him we might be back, but this was our first stop and we needed to look around. No sooner had I taken a step towards the door and he goes "Hold on, I forgot pillows! I'll give you two memory foam pillows". I knew I was being stroked, but I let it happen. He took us over to the pillows and launched into a rant about the differing needs of back, side and face sleepers, and how he could fit us for the perfect pillow. I thanked him, but said it didn't change the fact that this was our first stop and I couldn't make such a large purchase without making sure I was getting the best deal. We started to walk out and made almost to the door when he shouted from his computer (that he had bolted to) "Hold on! I just remembered something". He clicked away for a second and was like "YES! I THOUGHT SO!" I have a cal king of that model in my warehouse with light shipping damage. Because of that I can sell it below the manufacturers set price!" Now I'm a skeptic, and I figure he knew all along he had that one but wasn't going to give it up except to a customer like me who was on the way out. He showed us a picture and it looked like one corner literally got scuffed on the floor. it was still in plastic which took most of the damage. We hadn't planned on a king because we have a smaller master bedroom and a nice queen bedframe. I mentioned this and he said "you are getting the frame for free and I have some clearance headboards for very good prices". He wrote down the model, size, the list of free stuff, and out the door price with tax of $1910 plus 50% off any marked price on any clearance headboard (essentially making them $100 to $300 dollars) I again thanked him, said "We need to talk about this over dinner" then actually made it out of the store. We drove straight to another mattress store and talked on the way. Pros: Under budget, its a cal king which is nice, he threw in a bunch of stuff we'd have to buy separate online, we will be sleeping on it tomorrow and wont have to haul away the old one. (Have you ever tried to get rid of a mattress? Its like disposing a body). Also, we laid on and both liked the mattress. So we walked into the next mattress store and I handed the salesman the sheet with the goods and prices we were offered. I said "This is where I'm at down the street. How can you earn my business?" He studied it for a minute and said "Honestly I cant beat this on this model. I don't have any on clearance and I cant sell unblemished ones for that price. I'd be breaking my agreement with the manufacturer". I was surprised by his honesty. He said "Patrick is my competitor, and I'd love to get a sale over him, but he has me beat on this one. Unless you want a different mattress, I think you should go back and see him". I was floored. we thanked him for his candor and he said "Tell Pat he owes me one". We went out to the car and called the first place again. I said "We're down the street at Mattress Discounters and they have some interesting deals on floor models. Whats the best you can do for me on a headboard since I have to get rid of my Queen?" He invited us back and said "I have a couple floor models here with superficial damage. I can throw one in if you like either of them." "Great, start pulling everything together. We'll be there in five". We picked out a nice fabric covered headboard that was missing a button. Easy fix. I got an awesome bed setup in my house the next day, all for under our $2000 budget. The "damage" was more like a dirty spot that washed off with a wet cloth. If we had bought all that stuff at list price it would have been north of $3500. I know I could have a little more frugal, but after getting REM sleep for the last three nights I regret nothing. Thank you for the advice. I felt it armed me with the knowledge necessary to negotiate a good deal. submitted by /u/robinson217 to r/Frugal [link] [comments]
