I made these textured art pieces a while back and I’m considering turning it into a small side business. But I’m not sure if people actually buy this in India. So far I've been gifting these to my friends and family and they usually have great reactions. But since they can be biased, I'm looking for honest feedback. • Would you personally buy something like this for your home or for gifting? • What price range would feel reasonable to you? • Where would you place it (living room, bedroom, etc.)? • What would you want different or better? The raw material cost and getting it framed alone would be somewhere between ₹800 - ₹1200 and if I were to add the time spent on it from making it to packaging and stuff, I would like to sell it at least onwards of ₹2K. I’d like to commission a medium-sized DnD themed artwork that I can hang on my wall. I prefer to have it painted in a physical, non-digital medium (acrylic, oil, watercolor, etc.)., but am open to working with a digital artist as long as the finished product is on a print or on canvas, not just an image file. My favorite character I've created for a Pathfinder campaign permanently died and I want to memorialize her alongside the character I created to take her place in our party. This will be a 2-character, semi-realistic piece that has potential for a moderately-complex background, depending on the final concept. The character that died is a female Elf with Changeling heritage, former assassin with Toxicologist Alchemist class and Shadowdancer archetype, and has an elven curve blade which is integral to her backstory/must be in the painting. The new character is a slender, androgynous-but-leaning-female Ghoran with Thorned Rose heritage, so it would require lots of vines, roses, thorns and petals to make her humanoid form. She is a Bard class using bagpipes and handcrafted panpipes, wearing leaf weave armor and occasionally a velvet capelet. I’ve thought of a few scene ideas already such as: the Ghoran playing music to grow flowers over the Elf’s grave mound in the forest with the Elf‘s spirit listening from above or next to her or otherwise incorporated into the scene; the 2 characters standing/sitting back to back doing a downtime activity like applying poison to sword and playing pipes, but with the Elf in shadows or looking like an apparition and the Ghoran more vivid in brighter light; the Ghoran sitting by a stream playing music with the stream’s reflection being the Elf or the Elf’s spirit dancing near her Also I'm very open to working with the artist's ideas if you think of something else that is cool. The main raiment is that I want it to be a peaceful scene, I don't want them facing off against each other. If this sounds interesting please comment below! I’ve always loved those clean, high-end city posters you see on Etsy, but I wanted a way to customize every single detail myself without being a GIS expert. I’ve been building Terraink as a side project to do exactly that. I just pushed a massive update that moves the app from a static generator to a fully interactive canvas. Instead of "generating" and waiting, you can now fly across the globe in real-time. I swapped the backend to MapLibre, which allowed me to add: Total Theme Customization: You can now click "Customize" on any preset to change every hex code for land, water, parks, and roads. Layer Toggles: You can strip the map down to just the road "skeleton" or include buildings and parks for more texture. Vector Scaling: Since it’s all vector-based now, you can zoom out from a single neighborhood to an entire continent, and the labels/details update intelligently. High-Res PDF Export: For those who want to actually print these at 300 DPI for their walls. It’s completely free and open-source. So I've been struggling to find the right works of art, specifically something that's 12x16, but it's not even that. Art.com and iCanvas seem limited and are saturated with a lot of digital art or even AI art which I'm trying to sift through. I'm looking for traditional/oil paintings. How do you guys explore and look for new art pieces to add? Is it just something you stumble upon and then decide to purchase? I've tried Instagram but it's just filled with digital art. Just got the platnium, and I have some thoughts. Disclaimer, I didn't come into this as a E33 hater per se but I was 100% a E33 doubter. I'll admit, I was salty this game beat out KCD2 in the GOTY awards, imo KCD2 is one of the (if not THE) best RPGs ever made. Narrative, world building, characters, art style and music. In short? A straight 10/10. The story was fantastic, no one could say otherwise surely, the whole "entering the paintings" as a plot device and story twist is superb. They would essentially use that as a mechanism to go anywhere/do anything going forward, which is pretty exciting. The characters, initially I liked them all except monoco - poor monoco, but he quickly grew on me. One noticable scene which literally made me laugh out loud, monoco and the gang were confronted by Golgra when skipping the queue to bring noco back, he challenges Golgra to a fight, and the delivery in asking Verso for help was pure comedy. Art style and world building, what can be said other than awe inspiring. Music, phenomenal having recently finished Persona 5 I didn't think a game could challenge it's score but damn, E33 is right up there with P5. Now the meat and potatoes, the combat. Initially, I was skeptical from a turn based purist perspective - the ability to doge/parry 99% of enemy abilities seems antithetical to turn based design, but it worked, now only did it work but it was fun and engaging and brought a whole new element into the game. Nothing more satisfying than getting absolutely destroyed and then turning the tables completely, hitting all those parries and making a total mockery out of the boss. The picto/lumina system had more depth than I originally thought, there were clear synergies between these abilities complemented by your build. At no point where you punished for experimenting with builds, I never looked up at builds and I managed to build a pretty solid team (maelle sciel and lune) with maelle being the big hitter focusing on burn stacks and burning canvas, lune for healing and sciel existed only to buff maelle and give her more turns. Is it meta? Probably not, did it feel good? Absolutely. Do I think E33 is a perfect game? Nearly, there could be some improvements imo, mainly around UI, less reliance on invisible walls and a reduction of general traversal clunkiness. I'd have loved to see a mini map in the zones, one that fills out as you explore. The zones are very well made, and try as a might to expire every branching path, I'm sure I missed some. UI improvements, a screen showing collectables progress would have been a bonus. In general, the game did a good job at letting the player find all the collectables mostly organically - I used a guide 3 times through the 86 hour playthrough, once to see what missable trophies there were, once to find the last nevron quest (he was in the sky) and once to find the last lost gestral (he was also in the sky). My overall impressions 9.75/10, I think if I had stopped at the 35 hour mark once I finished the main story I'd have been massively underwhelmed, the extra 50 hours in the post game is crucial to experiencing what this game is imo. Being mid 30s I thought my days of staying up until 2-3 am gaming was over, E33 proved that to not be the case. tl;dr just a fellow redditor who quit the rat race to try to make a living through art. My newest projects are a website that allows you to mix together a virtual audio-visual nature scene for relaxation, www.naturemixer.com, and the "best astro-landscape photography calendar ever" (according to my mom, anyway). AMA about chasing your crazy dreams (you know you've got 'em) Background: I'm Phil Mosby. Just an ordinary guy who, at the age of 35, decided to buy a van and a large format printer, quit my comfy job, and attempt to make a living capturing, printing, and selling my astro-landscape photos and print creations full time. That was 3.5 years ago, in early 2017, and somehow I'm still kickin' and doing what I love! In the summer of 2018, thanks in part to Reddit, I was able to hang one of my hexagon cluster pieces on the wall of the James Webb Space Telescope Mission Operations Center at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, Maryland. This was one of the best honors of my life, and the subject of my last ama. In 2019 I opened a small brick and mortar gallery in North Lake Tahoe (including a room for my "glowing night" prints) ...but fairly quickly found out that retail life is not for me ... and at the end of the year closed the gallery down to re-focus my efforts on my online art sales (which have been my main source of income all along). It was disappointing, but hey, sometimes you gotta try something to find out it's not for you! In the long run it turns out I was extremely lucky on the timing, having focused all of my efforts into my online business months before Covid reared its ugly head. Present & Future: During this strange quaran-time, I've finally had the mental space to complete two massive projects that have both been on my list for, literally, years: #1 Nights On Earth my 2021 Wall Calendar and Stargazer's Guide to the Night Sky (preview on Imgur) (official website), which is just loaded with interesting space facts and useful data-points for any stargazer (as well as 13 of my best Lake Tahoe astro-landscape photos, of course). It was a labor of love to compile all this data, but I hope I succeeded in creating something that is beautiful, interesting, and incredibly useful to anyone with even a passing interest in space or stargazing (I can't wait to use it myself to plan next year's astro photography!) ...and then for my next feat of massively long days at the computer... #2 NatureMixer.com I spent the last two+ months developing Nature Mixer, a website that I have been "thinking about" (and shooting video to "someday" use for this purpose) for over 5 years. It allows you to mix together a custom, endlessly-looping, audio-visual naturescape to help you relax, focus, or even fall asleep to. This is another project that I made as much for myself as for anyone else. I use it daily while working and quite often while sleeping (pro-tip, on most phones you can minimize your browser and the audio will keep playing). I love this site almost more than anything else I've ever made. I hope you'll check it out and tell me I did good.
