HOLY GRAIL for shower cleaning - Dawn Powerwash
I cannot find the original person that commented to use Dawn Powerwash on my shower but wow I would give you all the awards. I like having a tidy and clean house but cleaning my shower always makes me want to just burn the house down and collect the insurance money. We have hard water in our house. I loathe cleaning the shower, with a passion. I have tried bleach, scrubbing bubbles, the pink stuff, scrub daddy products, vinegar and baking soda, a steam cleaner, various srubbers and attachments (so much so I actually think I wrecked the bottom plastic pan on the shower). DAWN POWERWASH, get it in the pear/light scent. HOLY GRAIL look at my shower y'all!!! I wish I took before pics but it was bad. Loads of soap grime all over the walls, hard water stains, and that nasty pink mould I can never remember how to spell. I still have more work to do on the bottom pan but my Lord, the rest of the shower took me 30 minutes to scrub it VERY well. I used a scrub daddy, small brush, microfiber cloth, warm water in a jug and a cotton towel to wipe everything down after squeegeeing. I will never use anything else. I did include a final shot of the bottom pan of the shower, if you zoom you can see how I've ruined the finish in spots :( submitted by /u/winnipeggremlin to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Why are redditors convinced Dawn is the best dish soap if the chemistry is likely to be understood by all chemical engineers at every brand?
Unless im missing something: The raw ingridients are likely to be dirt-cheap chemicals available to everyone The chemistry of cleaning your dishes seems to be elementary compared to what a chemical engineer is expected to know So unless you buy something that is an order of magnitude cheaper to the point where you'd think "well maybe they skimp on ingridients on that brand" I assume dish soap must be a commodity (i.e. nothing but marginal difference between options). Yet redditors seem convinced some brands are superior to others. So is that psychological, or is there something beyond? submitted by /u/BigBootyBear to r/AskChemistry [link] [comments]

Lentil soup with smoked ham, onions, celery and dawn dish soap
Sautéed the onion and celery after cooking the lentils and ham for about 20 minutes only to find out the pan I grabbed was not rinsed well at all. I thought I maybe smelled soap when I was cooking but the soup was so aromatic it masked it. Taste testing the bubbles verified it though. I wish I could blame my wife but I really don’t remember which one of us washed that pan last submitted by /u/Potential-Draft-3932 to r/mildlyinfuriating [link] [comments]

Dawn dish soap
I just did a soak with some Dawn dish soap in some stanky synthetic tshirts, that smelled of meat and body oils and could not get the odor out. I bought citric acid, biz, oxygen bleach, tide professional, Lysol laundry sanitizer, laundry soda, and have done many long soaks, extra rinses, hang air dry, etc, etc. But the smell remained. The dawn dish soap worked! Well, actually I still need to test by wearing them, but after a low heat dry followed by a 20 minute blast of high heat drying and left in the dryer overnight, they smelled cleaned! 2 hour warm water soak, followed by a normal warm wash with nothing added, and an extra rinse cycle. Admittedly, I did do a citric acid drum cleaning also before hand. I think the body oils were deeply lodged in the shirts, and dawn dish soap is exactly the thing to get them out! All the other chemicals were not fixing this issue but continuing to fix the oils into the fabric. Will update if my shirt doesn't stink after my day of wearing one. Edit: Also, just wanted to put this out there in case anyone else was having difficulties getting their stank out, even if it feels like you've done everything "right". Edit 2: After the work day I still had some pit issues. Much less than before, so I think I'll spend some extra effort rubbing some Dawn in with a toothbrush in the pits. submitted by /u/Glad-Smell8064 to r/laundry [link] [comments]

Dawn dish soap differences
I cannot for the LIFE of me find anything online about the differences between these two. I’m pretty sure I got both from Costco. The one of the left is a more recent purchase. It also smells a lot stronger and “sweeter” than the right. Not sure I like it. The ingredients are even different on the back. AITA for refusing to move my roommate’s dishes and hiding the dish soap?
Yesterday night, I apparently committed the cardinal sin of wanting to wash my dishes. I washed a bowl I had used for fruit loops and a plate I had used for dinner. The plate was fairly greasy since I had Mac and cheese and oxtail for dinner. And there was still milk left in the cereal bowl when I washed it. As I approach the sink, I noticed that my roommate had left a dinner bowl, a cup, and a fork in the sink. I didn't touch any of those items and washed my own. I didn't notice at the time, but apparently me washing my stuff left a greasy film and discolored water sitting in my roommate's stuff, which she would come to find out this morning. She confronted me about it no less than an hour ago and said that next time if I wanted to wash something and her dishes were in the sink, the proper thing to do would be to move them (used an incredibly condescending tone by the way, as if she were speaking to a child). I told her I have no intention or desire to touch her stuff and that I wouldn't be doing that. For context, we had talked about leaving dishes in the sink, among other things, about a week ago and I did relay my feelings on that to her. I don't care as long as it doesn't stink and it doesn't block what I need to do. I don't know how one takes that to mean that I'm obligated to touch someone else's dirty dishes and move them before cleaning my own as well? I don't care what happens to your dishes. And if you leave them in the sink, you must not either. We drop the issue after some back and forth and she goes to wash her stuff in the sink. I keep a large bottle of Dawn by the sink. It is the only dish soap brand I use, which I also mentioned during our conversation. I remember jokingly stating that it's kind of a pain in the ass because it's more expensive than other dish soaps out there. We agreed to alternate purchasing it when it runs out, but I had bought this particular one. So what does she do? She loads the sponge with soap. I'm talking I watch her put a full layer of Dawn onto the surface of the sponge before running it under water, so most of it goes down the drain anyway. I asked if she uses that much every time, and she just shrugged and said that she used so much to combat the grease and muck left on her stuff. I didn't comment after that, but after she finished, I took the bottle to my room. The agreement we had can suck it. She hasn't noticed yet, but there's bound to be a blowout when she does. AITA here? Is there some sort of unspoken dish washing rule that says you should move someone else's stuff before washing your own dishes? Should I have left the dish soap by the sink? Edit: If you're thinking of commenting to say I should have washed her dishes because they were in the sink, save your breath. You'd genuinely have an easier time convincing a shark to become vegan. submitted by /u/Beenie_Baby to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

Found my trigger, Dawn dish soap
Following some research on this sub, I found that some people reported dish soap as being problematic, especially Dawn. Since I was using exactly this brand for years, I tried switching to another brand and it did the trick for me. I no longer have eczema and it’s been probably around 5-6 months now! What dish soap should I use now that Dawn sucks!?
Perhaps someone can help as it's become such a tedious and depressing thing. I've always raved about how Dawn Platinum was the best soap, just a tiny drop and it cleans anything squeaky clean. Since they've apparently reformulated (not to mention the gross smell), I have to use more soap and it still leaves greasy parts on my dishes. Has anyone had better luck with another brand for washing everyday dishes? I'd prefer not to put everything in the dishwasher as I like to clean small batches by hand. I'm sad about this, but it's time to move on I suppose 🤷♀️ submitted by /u/Fresh-Requirement862 to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

LPT Diluted Dawn dish soap kills wasps & spiders in seconds
If you have trouble with spiders in hard to reach corners, or notice wasps nesting outside your home, fill a spray bottle about 2:1 with water and Dawn dish soap (the blue one--it's awesome). [[You can do a lower concentration, but you run the risk of reduced effectiveness. 3:1 or 4:1 is probably fine too.]] Make sure you can adjust the spray bottle for stream spraying. Spray directly on pests in your home. Spiders and wasps die in seconds; this is because Dawn allows water to penetrate their exoskeletons, thereby drowning the arachnid / insect in their own shell. The great benefit of this method is that cleanup is easy (it's just soap), and totally safe around pets and children. Caution: if using on wasps, wear thick layers and cover all exposed skin before you go after a nest. Tuck pants into socks, sleeves into gloves, etc. Always consult a professional exterminator before dealing with larger infestations. Edit: apparently this LPT works on ants, too! Also, another comment gave me an idea: if you have an outdoor BBQ or birthday party, bring a bottle of this with you to kill any wasps that might try to interrupt the festivities. submitted by /u/IgnoramusTerrificus to r/LifeProTips [link] [comments]

I still can’t believe why Dawn changed the scent of their soap. Like…..why?
As you all know by now, Dawn has permanently changed the scent of their soap to something horrendous and absolutely unpleasant. Their scent, which used to mild and actually smelled like soap, now smells like stinky, stinging cleaning chemicals. My experience with it is not good at all: it smells like dog feces but showered with Febreeze. It’s terrible, and I just can’t understand why Dawn would mess with something as simple as this. What Einstein in the Procter and Gamble HQ thought it would be a good idea to make this product smell like it came from a sewer? And Dawn’s website is flooded with extremely negative reviews. It’s staring to rise to “New Coke” levels of hate. Why do corporations love doing this? Dawn was mostly everybody’s favorite dish soap. Households used it, restaurants used it, animal rescue shelters used it. So why did they have to ruin something that was just perfectly fine as is? It’s unexplainable! submitted by /u/Plenty_Objective8392 to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Does the Dawn Dish Soap + Vinegar Mix Spray truly work on everything?
I see a lot of comments on this sub on how the Dawn Dish Soap + Vinegar Mix Spray works great as a all-purpose cleaner. The question that I'm wondering is, does it truly work great on everything, or are there certain areas where using something else can be more effective (like when cleaning the toilet and shower)? I like the idea of minimizing the amount of cleaning supplies I need (as opposed to having different cleaning solutions for everything) which is why I like the idea of using the Dawn Dish Soap + Vinegar Mix Spray as a multi-purpose cleaner, but I'd also like to know what other additional cleaners I should be using to ensure my house is properly cleaned? submitted by /u/ibob430 to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

LPT: Fill a spray bottle with 10% Dawn dish soap and 90% water. You now have an incredibly effective and cheap multipurpose cleaner.
I discovered this recently. Take any spray bottle, empty it out and then add a 10% Dawn (I prefer Platinum) and 90% water. This spray can be used on windows, counters, toilet, floors and is really all purpose. It works wonders for soap scum in the bathtub if you let it sit too. You can also do this trick with concentrated liquid like Simple Green. Save some money, make this spray. A bottle of this will last a while since its so potent. submitted by /u/VarokSaurfang to r/LifeProTips [link] [comments]
