Ryobi vs Ego multi head trimmer - help me decide
Hi everyone! My wife told me I had to pick a Father’s Day gift today. I’ve been using a cheap Ryobi 18v 10 inch trimmer for about 6 years, does the job but does struggle with keeping edges crispy I’m considering these two products Here is my current equipment list: - Honda HRX217 (older model with 190cc) - Ryobi 40v crosscut RWD mower (~170cc) - Ryobi 40v blower (730cfm) - 2 x Ryobi 40v 4.0ah batteries (5 years old) - Ryobi 18v edger - Ryobi 18v 10 inch trimmer - Sunjoe dethatcher (corded) - Sunjoe pole saw (corded) - Sunjoe pole hedge trimmer (corded) - earthwise mini broadcast spreader - 1 gal pump sprayer I have 7500sqft lawn, the Ryobi mower doesn’t quite make it through the whole yard with the two 4.0 ah batteries. It does a decent job good for the late evening mows or when kids are playing in the yard. I might be considering an ego mower in a few years to replace both Ryobi and Honda. Plan to replace the 18v edger and Sunjoe stuff with the multi head attachments eventually to keep garage tidy. I picked up the Ryobi mower without batteries used for a pretty good price so that’s why I have it. Should I go for the Ryobi trimmer or branch off into the Ego ecosystem starting with the trimmer? If there are any other interesting Father’s Day gift ideas around 500 cad let me know! submitted by /u/pes104 to r/lawncare [link] [comments]

Ego weed trimmer head
I’m about to throw this thing off a cliff - I simply cannot get this @!$! Trimmer head GD open to try to fix the string feed issue I’m having. Is there possibly another head I could switch it out for that would be ergonomically possible for a human without giant hands to open?? 🫠 Edit: I’ve ordered a different ego head that says it’s compatible.. anyone have this bump style head? https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B017EHE034/ref=pe\_125682630\_1045605200\_i\_fed\_asin\_title submitted by /u/Rustyempire64 to r/egopowerplus [link] [comments]

EGO Power+ vs Milwaukee M18 FUEL QUIK-LOK trimmer/pole saw kit — which one should I buy?
New homeowner here. I have a lot of trees on both sides of my driveway and around the house, so I’ll definitely need an extension for pole saw work. I may also get a chainsaw and possibly an electric snow blower later. I’m trying to decide between EGO and Milwaukee. I currently have an EGO mower, but I also have Milwaukee M18 hand tools — drill, multi-tool, and blower. For those who have used either system, which one would you choose long term? How has your experience been with the pole saw, especially with an extension? Any regrets choosing one ecosystem over the other? submitted by /u/d27saurabh to r/Tools [link] [comments]

EGO string trimmer questions
Does using a smaller rated amphour battery affect the overall performance (not runtime) of the PH1420+STA1700 string trimmer? I have the PH1420 power head and the STA1700 string trimmer attachment with the 5amphour battery. Small lawn. The powerhead+string trimmer + battery is heavier than I prefer. Does anyone know if I can swap to a lighter battery, say a 3 or 4 amphour(or even a 2.5?) battery to reduce the weight? I'm not concerned with runtime, it's a small yard and I do it in sections. At worst I'll buy 2 and rotate between them. I am happy with the performance of the trimmer, but the weight is too much for my lower back. Addition question: Does the rotary scissors attachment preclude the need for the string trimmer? I have a wire fence where the bottom get messed up from the string trimmer if you don't have it angled 'just so'. misc info I have lower back issues. Previous to buying the EGO I was using a Hart 40v brushless which i could often use in a single hand bc it was so light. I tried using the strap to help deal with the weight, but the strap seems too short even when fully extended out (I'm 6'4"). It's forces me to bend my knees or back at a bad angle and it is just not tenable. I'm thinking about just making /Jury rigging I longer strap (or hell buying one if Ego has it). It's too much strain on my back to hold the trimmer on the long parts of my property submitted by /u/Bigdaddyspin to r/egopowerplus [link] [comments]

Best weed whacker/trimmer? Ego electric, echo 2 stroke, Honda 4 stroke?
What’s the word? Ego electric seems appealing, but they seem to be employing sub contracting “human” advertising that makes it hard to discern the truth. I wanted to avoid 2 stroke to keep everything gas. I got a Honda 4 stroke used and I can’t get it working right, putting new carb on tomorrow. Almost want to scrap it and go electric. Ryobi vs Ego Line Trimmer
Looking to buy a line trimmer for my small 15sqm front lawn. I already have a Ryobi 18V 4Ah battery and an EGO 56V multi-tool power head with a 2.5Ah battery. Trying to decide between the Ryobi 18V HP Brushless trimmer set (with 4Ah battery) or just the EGO line trimmer attachment (skin only). Both are priced the same at $299 NZD. The Ryobi seems like better value, but I’m not sure if the 18V HP brushless has enough power. submitted by /u/Affectionate_Aide566 to r/ryobi [link] [comments]

How do the Makita 36V and 40V high-torque string trimmers stack up against Ego's for tough, tall grass?
Anyone used both for extensive, tough, tall grasses? How would the Makita higher RPM or Torque 17-18" 36V and 40V string trimmers stack up against mine (or the latest EGO 16" string trimmers) for powering through the wild/tough/tall grasses? Background: I currently have an 8 year old Ego ST1500-S string trimmer, and down to the last battery. My property is an acre and lots of tall wild/tough grasses to maintain, including in a large ditch - sometimes it gets up a 9-18 inches before it's trimmed, and the 15" ST1500-S gets the job done, just feels a bit weak on the start. submitted by /u/rossn1 to r/Makita [link] [comments]

Trimmer - Why so many options?!
I have been a Stihl owner for years, big back pack blower, trimmer, chainsaw, etc. I have started to transition to some EGO products though for when smaller things are needed on the property. I have been very happy with the 765 blower and I would like to add a trimmer to the mix, however, there are too many options to make a decision. There are 7 options to pick from on their site, and a number of them have 'sub models' as well. That is crazy. There are more than a dozen models for a trimmer and really all I can see different is the trimmer head, and they don't do a good job laying things out. I want to buy one of these but it is too much overload for me to make a decision. Can anyone shed a bit of light on what the main differences are and what models to avoid? submitted by /u/WaterDreamer10 to r/egopowerplus [link] [comments]

Do not buy a Ego string trimmer with power load
The heads do not last more than 3 months and they will not replace them when they break. I used my for two string cycles and it stopped loading. Not only that, their customer service is rude, tells you there is nothing they can do, and tells you to buy another one. It will cost you $50-$150 a year to keep this thing operating as expected. It’s unfortunate they don’t seem to understand customer lifetime value. Seriously, stay away from these things. Such a disappointment. submitted by /u/jenlikesanimals to r/egopowerplus [link] [comments]

I've Had It With My EGO Trimmer
I love that my weed trimmer (ST1500SF EGO 15"String Trimmer) is battery-powered but damn I can't take it anymore, I'm constantly having to fix the string and the head is a bitch to open. It's also pretty heavy with unbalanced weight. So, I'd love to hear recommendations for a moderately-priced replacement that is easy to load, nice to carry, and if it's battery-powered, even better. What trimmer should I buy?
Completely new to Ego and just bought a leaf blower and lawnmower. I have not got to use them yet but I am excited for spring. However, I have not purchased a trimmer yet because I want to make sure I am getting a good one. I have a steep hillside that is a large part of my lot so a good trimmer is important.
