Thank you @HermanH for starting this thread. Yes spring is here but it does not feel like May weather to me kind of cold out. Now to start preparing the yard for gardening and cleanup all the debris from winter.

Leave at least one to fully ripen to the point it drops off, so you know what you'll get in the end. (that's the extent of my gardening advice. Our Limes turn yellow as they ripen, and some get to the size of apples. That tree is gardened with pure neglect. Still waiting for our lemon tree to do something, gotta be at least a decade old now.

She is with an amazing foster mom and I will be applying to adopt her after her future kittens have found homes. —- She’s in my office, separated from my other cat and dog (who had surgery to remove a soft tissue sarcoma 6 days ago and is still recovering), with a warm bed, a litter box, and food and water. 🫶 I was certain she’d have a microchip and if it was my baby I would want someone to get them scanned. It was 8:20pm. So I put her in a box and kidnapped her from Lowe’s and went to my local emergency vet to scan for a chip. No chip! But her nipples were slightly puffy so I asked the vet if she could be in heat or pregnant and sure enough - ultrasound confirmed 3 very well developed kittens. I’m near Tacoma WA so I’ll look at taking her to Burien CARES if an owner or long term foster cannot be found. I no lawn’d my grass this spring and have been working to transform my backyard into a native pollinator garden. I love going outside and watching all the different bee species, butterflies, and birds enjoying the new garden. What I didn’t anticipate though was how often I’d come across dying or dead bees, ladybugs, wasps, butterflies, etc especially in the Fall. No one remembers to tell you that when you invite new life into your garden, you also invite death. Yesterday afternoon, I almost stepped on a honeybee that was clearly on her last buzz. She couldn’t fly and was barely moving. I gently placed her on a flower where she grabbed hold of the stalk. I didn’t think she’d have much time left. Hours later, I checked on her and she was in the same position, hardly moving, but alive. I gave her a bit of sugar water I’d made for the hummingbirds earlier, and she perked right up and found a place to rest for the night. Maybe something you planted that is super aggressive, something that grew way too big in a small space, or thinking that of “1 tablespoon of fertilizer per gallon is good so 1/4 cup of fertilizer will be great!” (not that I’ve done that or anything…) I’ll go first and will definitely have more: I had a random morning glory pop up and I loved it so let it grow. It spread into my garden. Then I let it go to seed. In a 60’ long bed. I am a rather nurturing and sensitive individual. Gardening seemed like a great hobby to get into. But it's lead to so much failure and guilt. So many of my plants have died. They are completely dependent on my actions to keep them alive, and I just can't seem to help them. I buy the best soil. I spend hours and hours picking out plants. I meticulously plan out watering schedules. I've spent so much time, money, and energy pouring my soul into these life forms and they just rot out. I live in 90% humidity basically all year. Even without watering my plants, even with terracotta, 70%perlite mix, even with direct sunlight and basically no watering, these plants rot. The soil doesn't drain. I cry so much every time my plants die. I put so much love into them. It feels like I lose a part of myself. I'm giving up. This isn't for me. I am better off devoting this energy and love to my wife and my daughter. I had to call off work today because I couldn't stop crying over my latest gardening failure. I needed to vent and get this out. Sorry for the bad vibes, I'm just so tired of being hurt. EDIT: Wow I was not expecting this much support at all. I was expecting a sarcastic comment and downvotes lol. This is a very kind and supportive community of wonderful people and I am grateful for each comment. I am reading all of them. -Yes, I am in therapy. I have a lot of mental illnesses that I'm in a great place with but I still have episodes. This is probably one of them lol -I believe my plants are natives--but I'm not sure. They are tropical and suitable for the climate, but not sure if they are native to south florida. -My problem is the 90% humidity- the soil just never dries out. I basically live on a swamp and outside of my apartment doesn't get good ventilation at all. Really unfavorable enviornment for my plants. -I'm going to take a break from gardening and give my plants to my dad to take care of. Once I move again I'll garden. I really want to contribute to nature and make the planet more green. -I have learned a lot and the lessons I've learned are worth the pain I've felt. Right now it's a lot of pain. But that's how we grow, right? EDIT 2: i have read through everyone's comments! There are so many!
