I consider myself prettt handy but i severely underestimated the amount of work needed to put together 4x PAX wardrobes with drawers and sliding doors etc. I cant recall the exact time but it was a solid chunk of time, possibly 8 hours or so. Great units though, very sturdy. Just dont go in expecting them to be the usual 20 minute ikea affair!

Strangely, my post disappeared. Here it is again. I have an IKEA Alex cabinet which is wide enough to take a Canon Prograf 1000 (A2) printer and has six drawers useful for paper, cartridges, etc. It is very slightly lower than a dining table and has casters so you can move it about if you need to. Highly recommended.

I'm planning a new desk using a 4m x 720mm x 38mm black walnut worktop supported by three Alex drawers. I keep on seeing photos and posts of people using these risers on top of the drawers to support the worktops, I was wondering what the advantages of doing this are as opposed to resting the worktop directly on top of the drawers? The worktop + Alex drawers by itself would be 73.8cm to the top of the desk, this seems like an ideal height for me as someone that is 181cm (6ft) tall, wouldn't adding the risers make these desks not very ergonomic for most people? Is there a worktop support reason why people are doing this? If I rest the worktop on top of the drawers do I need to do anything to stop the worktop slipping of is the weight of the worktop enough to stop it moving? So I’ve had a problem with desk space for a while as for right now I have to have my computer in my room. I also have a second monitor I’m really wanting to set up, so I found this pc clamp online.. says it holds up to 66lbs with the clamps. But this is also a $4,000+ PC. Curious on your guys’ opinion. The clamp is from Vivo. A couple reviews that I could find that said it was great, I just don’t know how heavy my PC actually is. Doubt it succeeds 66lbs though. Any input is hugely appreciated! This is something I’m really stuck on and unsure which to go for. I have had multiple desks in the last 4 years but now want to have a long term desk - I love both ideas - I would still use the Alex drawers regardless but unsure whether to go for standing desk or the ikea desk hack.. what would be your opinion? I left the house for dinner around 6 and didn’t come home until after 11. When I didn’t find my cat at the door to greet me I knew something was wrong. I had forgotten he was napping in the top drawer and I closed the sliding door on him! He was meowing and shaking but immediately started purring when I picked him up. I was crying on the floor and called my friend lol but I still can’t stop feeling guilty. This actually was two nights ago but just now I saw all his claw marks in the drawer and feel guilty all over again! I just can’t imagine his suffering :( has anyone else gone through this? So I’ve wanted a new chest of drawers for a while. I’ve been in a bit of a rut over the Christmas period, so I thought, you know what, I’ll go to IKEA, buy some drawers, put them together, and feel like a functional adult. This was my first time going to IKEA alone. Everyone else seems to be off living their best lives, but I figured I’d manage. I confidently located the drawers I wanted and marched into the warehouse fully believing I could lift the box onto a trolley. I could not. I was so wrong. The box barely budged. Around me were families happily navigating flat-pack chaos together, and instead of doing the sensible thing — like asking a staff member for help — I panicked, abandoned the mission entirely, ran out of the store, and cried in my car 😂 Anyway, I’m doing click and collect tomorrow. Hi, like many of you I was absolutely fascinated by Manimod’s nail polish holder inserts for IKEA furniture . Do you want to be able to see what you have, but the bezels aren’t your thing and you also don’t want your cap to flood? Cool, this sounds like a great solution. After reading all the reviews for the Helmer shelves on here, I thought great, I know exactly what I want. So I put in the order for the Helmer shelf inserts because hey, I had that Juniper coupon. Then, and only then did I go to IKEA, convinced I made the right choice. Not so fast, nail girl. I got there and the Helmers turned out to be these horrible little thin, flimsy metal monstrosities that looked like they belong in your grandpa’s garage. Okay so that’s what some of the reviews meant about quality going down. But hey, I can look past an exterior. And then I started playing with them. Hoo boy. The drawers on the Helmers pulled out faster than Leonardo DiCaprio pulls out of a 30 year-old, no stops in the back, and I knew what my future held. All my polishes in their pretty glass bottles would be over my tile floor. So I went home with the Alex. But I still had the Helmer size shelves on the way to me, which brings us to our current dilemma (and the pictures). They fit but they move around and as the other reviews said about the Alex, you end up with like 4 inches of unusable space in the back because of how the drawers are set up. It’s not the end of the world, but it is irritating. The picture is the drawers pulled all the way out, showing you exactly how much space is nigh unreachable in the back. So you have two choices. Either you can let your polish just slide around until you figure something else out, you can use the cardboard filler from your Alex box to continue working after it desperately wants to retire to the recycling bin. And then you can go on Manimod’s site and debate with yourself about ordering some custom shelf extras to fill the gaps (not the ones in judgement though, you’re stuck with those), or like me, you can use the cardboard.
