I was disappointed at first to find there was not a Keurig coffee maker in the room. Once I tried the 24 hours a day fresh ground and brewed coffee machine I do not miss the Keurig. All the HIX locations we have been in the last 18 months have had the new machines in the dining areas.

@hollysue123 Nespresso is the capsule coffee maker in Europe. They have different and in IMHO better coffee than Keurig. It is more of an espresso shot but you can add water or milk. They sell the capsules everywhere.

We were just told beginning May 1st all coffee and coffee makers will be removed from the break rooms at my agency. How petty. What petty things are they doing at your agencies? Edit: my agency is not federally appropriated (not taxpayer funded). I didn’t realize how other agencies handled coffee (or water, soap, or TP!!). We were lucky enough to be provided free coffee from a Keurig. When folks ask how they can stretch their grocery/eating out budget, a common piece of advice is to make coffee at home. So I want to know what your ways to make your coffee feel special on a budget. Is it a specific creamer or coffee? A morning ritual? For me, I was able to score an older but working Keurig machine on my local Buy Nothing group. I purchased bulk pods for a while (about $0.50 per cup of coffee, not terrible) and they were ok, did the trick. But I felt bad about using disposable pods so I asked my friend to gift me a couple of reusable k-cup filters for the holidays and OH MY GOODNESS. The amount of coffee they use per cup is so little and the coffee is so much better! I'm a 2 cup per day drinker and I can now make a regular 12 oz package of coffee last 75% longer than I could when I was doing a pour over or a small drip coffee maker. Even if I purchased a Keurig new, with the coffee savings, it would probably pay for itself over two months. Plus the coffee is like 10x better than the pods Edit: y'all came through! I have one 12oz cup of coffee daily and have ironically gone through 2 Keurigs and 1 Ninja coffee maker in the last 3 years. Each one is breaking on me. Background: My boomer mom drinks coffee. At least two cups in the morning and another one or two in the afternoon/evening. I drink 0 coffee. Never have. Some of my friends do, but when they are over, we just have other beverages. Whenever my mom visits (about every 2 months), she is appalled that I don't have coffee to offer her. I mention that there is a Dunkin a few blocks up she could have stopped at or have one of the other beverage options. She says what do you serve guests when you have dessert?! On the rare occasion I entertain, we drink something else, not a big deal, my friend all know I am not a coffee drinker and they can manage a few hours without it, apparently unlike my mom. I live in an apartment community which has a keurig coffee maker for its residents to use. On occasions I have gone to make myself a coffee and the keurig has been out of stock. Because of this, I got into a habit of taking a few coffee pods back to my apartment to ensure I can have a coffee every day. I usually keep a stock of 3 and will resupply as needed. This morning, while making my coffee, I noticed the coffee bar had been recently restocked and I knew my supply at home was low so I was planning to take 2 coffee pods back with me. Another resident however saw me and decided to huff and puff. She accused me of theft, stealing from the community, and causing a toxic living space. I had never seen this lady before and just piped back that she should mind her own business. I then took my coffee, 2 pods, and went back to my apt. Since then the situation has got me thinking and I would like the opinion of others to see if my actions are appropriate. I just found a new job, closer to home for more pay, and put in my notice. The people here are acting like they'll miss me but it's such a great opportunity that most of them are understanding and kind about it. The issue I have is...I paid for nearly everything in our coffee break area out of my own pocket. The keurig, all the coffee pods, sugar, creamer...I paid for it it's mine. However it is the only working coffee pot in the building, and when joked to my store manager about, "What are you going to do without your morning coffee?" Now my current coworkers are saying, "are you really going to steal the coffee pot when you leave?" It's not stealing, it's mine. And it's not cheap to replace. So internet strangers...WIBTA for taking home my Keurig and coffees? Edit: the FM (manager I made the joke to) got her coffee this morning and said Snarky Coworker had gone to the SM, and gave me the credit card and company car to go buy a new keurig, said keep the new one and the office can have the old one. when i was in college, i had the worst roommate ever. no respect for privacy, noise, or my food in the fridge. what had really tipped the iceberg for me was the day she started yelling at me for the way our room smelled. told me i needed to be showering at least once a day. i wasn’t the problem; it was her stupid microwave meals that made our place smell like shit. i didn’t have enough balls back then to tell her to fuck off, so what did i do? the next time i had to clean out the water for my betta fish’s tank, i dumped the semi-gross water into her fancy keurig coffee maker. she made coffee in that thing for the next week until i moved out. i have no regrets. and, if by some miracle, she’s reading this: fuck you Rikki!
