Made a small NYC subway car lamp and wanted some feedback
I’m mostly trying to make the interior feel more like an actual NYC car and less like a generic train model. I added seats, poster panels, windows, and it lights up from inside. I also hid the on/off button in one of the seats, which was just a fun detail I wanted to try. Still refining it, so I wanted to ask what details stand out the most to you when something is supposed to feel specifically NYC subway. Seat shape/color, proportions, signage, poster layout, whatever else. submitted by /u/Tasty_Flight_3765 to r/nycrail [link] [comments]

Breakable Lamps
So from all the puzzle elements I've looked at so far, this one kind of comes back as the one I feel like has the most likely foot hold. There's the crates with numbers, there's the ticking clocks, various other bizarre artifacts, or curious environmental details. I was kind of finding myself getting into a scope creep, where there's just too much and trying to make it all fit together neatly is a puzzle that amounts to just aimless interpretation. Back to the drawing board. If there is a puzzle in this game that people have yet to find still, then that puzzle ought to have some parameter. For me a reasonable parameter is that that puzzle should be self contained. It shouldn't require a player to be good at data mining to solve and it shouldn't require extensive knowledge of history and culture. Ideally, if you're designing a puzzle, you're doing it in a way where any player COULD solve it given just the game. Which is what brought me back to the lamps. Of all the other mysterious artifacts, they're the one that I see as the most absolute and measurable, without as much of an interpretive layer. You can count them easily, you can interact with them, and they're placed in locations where you'd likely do so (For example, the ones at the old farm. If you'd missed all the others up to this point, there's a good chance you'd figure out that some of them are breakable when you're aiming for the paint cage), To recap - There are 26 accessible breakable lamps. A 27th is inaccessible without mods, so not counting this one, and not counting breakable lamps that are associated with enemies. Count - Zone Name - Nearest Flag Name - Expedition - Notes 1 - Sinister Cave - Entrance - Expedition 47 - Dead Gestral Zone. No immediately adjacent artifacts 15 - Sunless Cliffs - Chroma Portal - Expedition 42 - Bald Mime Zone. No artifacts. Lamps line pathway to portal. 4 - Spring Meadows - Meadows Corridor - Expedition 81 - Placed prior to the "upside down house" with the ticking clock. 1 - Stone Wave Cliffs - Paintress Shrine - Expedition 56 - Placed near what looks like the mantel piece from the manor 5 - Stone Wave Cliffs - Old Farm - Expedition 56 - Placed at the far end near the path/conic farm structure. Having said that, I still don't quite know what to make of them. I've put it into two modes of thinking either direct or indirect. The direct mode is "At some point in the game, destruction of the lamps, in some sequence or set, is necessary as an event requisite" That mode is exceedingly difficult to work with. For me, if it's a direct puzzle control, then it's almost essential that there be some clear in game clue to guide you, otherwise it'd be essentially impossible to brute force. I'm not ruling it out entirely that there is a direct puzzle control element to it, but if there is, then for me I'd want something where associating it makes sense (i.e., it makes sense why this clue would apply specifically to this puzzle), and where the clues themselves map fairly simply to specific actions. The indirect mode is the one I'm favoring right now, which is more to the effect of "Does this number of breakable lamps point to something?" Not 26 overall, but does 4 lamps at Spring Meadows correspond to... A letter? Or a word? Are the mapped locations relevant? In what way? I feel like this one is more promising because it's less ambiguous, and would ultimately have fewer dependencies. [ALL] [OC] My Handmade Zelda-Inspired Night Lamp Giveaway 🎁💚
Hi everyone! I’m CK, the creator behind ResinArtYPC Studio, where I handcraft resin and wood artwork inspired by the worlds I love — and one of them is The Legend of Zelda. To be honest, I only discovered the Zelda series in 2018 with Breath of the Wild, and I still regret not finding it sooner. How about you? When did your own Zelda journey begin? This time, I’ve created a few small night lamps inspired by Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom — hoping to bring a little Hyrule-style light into someone’s room. The giveaway winner can choose one of these three designs: Hylia Goddess Statue — inspired by the serene statues found across Hyrule. Master Sword with a blooming Silent Princess — a symbol of hope from BOTW. Link gliding above the sky islands — capturing that peaceful descent into the open sky in TOTK. 💬 How to enter: Comment below with your favorite Zelda game and when you first started playing the series. (One entry per person — thanks for keeping it fair!) 🎲 Draw method: I’ll randomly pick one winner and announce the result here after the giveaway ends. 🌍 Shipping: Worldwide — I’ll cover standard shipping. 📦 Delivery: The lamp will be shipped within one week after the winner is selected. Please allow a little extra time since each piece is handmade from scratch. 📅 Giveaway ends: November 30 Thank you all for your support and for loving this incredible series. Things I tell everyone after they buy a lamp, that designers charge $200/h to explain
So you just bought a beautiful lamp... congrats! But here's the thing nobody tells you at IKEA or Wayfair... Yesterday, this woman bouught one of our floor lamps. Gorgeous piece. But as she's walking out, I stop her: 'Hold up, let me save you some frustration'. See, I learnd these tricks from a lighting designer who came into our shop. She told me most people ruin their lamp investment with three mistakes: They put it in the wrong corner, your lamp should create a triangle with your seating. Not shoved againsst a wall where it lights up nothing useful. The designer called it the 'conversation triangle', lamp, chair, side table. They use the wrong bulb, that beautiful lamp you just bought? It'll look like garbage with a cool white bulb. 2700K warm light makes everything look expensive. 4000K makes it look like a gas station. They don't layer it, your new lamp isn't supposed to light the whole room. It's supposed to work WITH other light sources. Think of it like seasoning, one type isn't enough. This advice charges rich people $200/h. I just tell customers for free because I don't like seeing them disappointed with their purchases, I want them to actually love what they bought. submitted by /u/Aggressive-Cookie356 to r/HomeDecorating [link] [comments]
