Hey guys, need your advice on how to deal with this situation. I live in a three story apartment complex with a community laundry room in the bottom floor (2 washers, 2 dryers all coin-operated). Couple weeks when I tried to do laundry i noticed “out of order” signs taped on top of the two washers, no biggie i did my laundry at a laundromat in town. Weeks later, I still see the same signs and was getting frustrated that the landlord wasn’t repairing them so I reached out to maintenance. They got back to me saying that there shouldn’t be any problems with those washers and that they fixed them long time ago. Afterwards, i talked to my neighbors across the hallway and they said that yesterday they noticed the lady that lives right next to the laundry room is the one putting up the signs and told me she even unplugs them mid-cycle when they tried doing there laundry despite the sign. Outraged we let the landlord know and they confirmed they are aware of this issue and sent all the tenants this message above. My question is what can we do to make this lady stop. It is not right for her to stop the rest of us from using the washing machines just so she doesn’t deal with the noise or whatever. I have been told by others in my building that theres nothing that can be done cause the lady is on section 8, is that true? There used to be a camera the landlord installed in the laundry room but it was removed earlier this year and I think it’s cause that lady made them remove it. Hi all, I recently finished a renovation of my laundry room. Unfortunately, I forgot to take good before pictures. This was my first attempt at building cabinets. They’re not perfect, but I’m happy with the results. Will likely also be making some false drawers for the dark blue surface on the table top. Let me know what you guys think and what recommendation/changes do you think would help jazz up the area even more. I’m currently mid-renovation on my guest bath/laundry combo and the layout is a nightmare. I have exactly 24 inches of clearance under the vanity, and I refuse to have a plastic eyesore sitting in the middle of the hallway. I’ve spent way too long looking for a litter box for small space integration that doesn't require me to saw a hole in my custom cabinetry. Most "furniture" options are made of cheap MDF that swells the second it gets damp. I’ve shifted my search toward finding a high-performance litter box for small space that actually has a vertical footprint instead of horizontal. It’s wild that we talk about smart fridges and hidden pantries but "where to put the cat" is always an afterthought in home design. Pretty significant laundry room update completed over about 2.5 weeks which included some delays in materials. Started because that utility sink was leaking behind the wall, causing the flooring to warp. Moved drains, supplies, electrical, gas, HVAC, removed that exterior door, had to fur out the ceiling to level it to accept that crown. Had to add new drywall along the side wall because of mold. And the flooring we obviously changed to tile and added a nicer light fixture. Yes we kept the washer and dryer for now. They will be replaced soon. I am a GC. My wife is our lead designer. We did this for a little under $10k in materials plus my guys labor. Interesting how this neighbor knew it was me who did it and when my bf went around knocking on doors to see who left this note on our door, one of them said she doesn’t do their laundry in the building when I literally saw her get out of the laundry room last before I used it and she saw me as well…and I literally placed the clothes on the folding counter 🤷‍♀️ Update: I dont know how to post the screenshot of my landlord’s response without making a new post but I dont think my neighbors will care anyway that the management made an announcement regarding leaving laundry for long periods of time To all the people waiting for me and my neighbor to brawl lol, I made the decision to not give a response to their note bc: This has happened many times, this is the second time I had to take out their laundry (assuming its the same people/person), and I have left them a note then saying we waited almost an hour and to be considerate of others. Clearly, nothing has changed and they don’t care about being considerate to others so leaving another note is useless I will however CONTINUE to take their clothes out after 30 minutes the first time I see the dryer is done. I don’t care how many times they get mad ill continue to do it until they learn to take their clothes out in a timely manner. Now if its still in the washer for a long time…then idk how to solve that yet To everyone saying this is fake because our handwriting is similar and we have the same paper, I am aware of this as my bf literally made a comment saying he thinks it was a girl who wrote this because we have similar handwriting. He literally drilled into the ceiling just to have something to secure the ratchet straps to the washing machine as he attempted to lift it onto the table with a hydraulic jack (unfortunately I didn’t get a picture of the wooden frame he built, carefully crafted to have a “jack point”, and the wood was ratchet strapped to the bottom of the washer as he jacked it up. After seeing the washer swinging around a bit, I brought in the paver bricks from the backyard to help with stability after the washer was swinging a bit too much to jack it any higher up. I was so stressed out about the swinging washer that I walked away after snapping the pic (to send to a friend begging them to come over and bring their bf to help with this washing machine lifting) and came back a few minutes later to see the washer was up on the table he built. First of all, i'm short (5'1"). So reaching the shelf in there is extremely hard for me. In that same breath, i'm not sure about stacking the washer/dryer, because I feel I may have a hard time reaching the settings for the dryer?? I tried looking at others posts but everything I found was larger/set up differently than mine lol. I’m really happy with how this came out. To address some questions you might have and that I had when my fiance showed me an example of something like this: The water shut offs are on the left side of the washer and not behind it. I can push the washer to the side and access them. The washer is too high for my fiance to use the detergent drawer but I can reach. We also use tide pods mostly so it doesn’t matter much Servicing the washer and dryer will be a pain. It's taken quite a while but I should be finishing up the final bits this weekend. The wife wanted to switch the the all in one washer/dryer unit so we figured why not two since we have the space. I didn't consider how much extra work it would cause running a second 15a circuit and redoing all the supply and drain plumbing but oh well it's done. I did cap old dryer vent but left it as it wasn't in the way and would be hidden. I also left the dryer plug but just have the breaker turned off as it's not in use. The shelf was made with the locking slide out portions to make hook up and service easier (each are rated at 500lbs). The trim is held on magnets to hide the slide locks and cover the filter and hook up for the floor robot (supply and drain plumbed in with large inline filter). The litter box was upgraded to the litter robot 4 with litter hopper and the drawer slides out to fill the hopper on the back. The lower drawer I lined with plexiglass (to keep the wood from getting nasty) and is for litter storage. The cabinets will house extra supplies like TP, paper towels and detergent that get get in bulk, along with smaller stuff like extra batteries and cleaning solutions. The lower cabinet was made big enough to house big bags of pet food and the extra large cabinet above the washer is mainly just extra space to keep bulky things that are rarely used. Since we have to leave the door open at night for the robot to run, I installed a mmwave radar sensor to control the light so it turns on as soon as you walk into the room but the pets and robot won't trigger it.
