Do you actually use a sink in your laundry room, or is it wasted space?
Designing a fairly small laundry room for a new build and trying to prioritize what features are actually worth the space. One thing I keep going back and forth on is whether a sink/slop sink is really necessary. The room isn’t huge, so adding a sink would take away cabinet/storage space and make things feel tighter. On the other hand, I keep hearing people say they’d never go without one again once they’ve had it. For those of you who have a laundry sink: • How often do you realistically use it? • What do you use it for most? • Is it something you consider essential or more of a “nice to have”? And for people who skipped it: • Do you regret not adding one? • Are there alternatives that work just as well in a smaller space? I could have a stacked washer and dryer to include the sink in the layout but I am not sold on the stacked option. submitted by /u/hcposcher to r/laundry [link] [comments]

AIW for kicking my boyfriends sister out at 11 PM after catching her trying on my entire wardrobe?
I (26F) have been living with my boyfriend (27M) for about a year. His sister "Chloe" (22F) is currently in town for a few days and is staying on our couch. We usually get along fine but she has this weird habit of boundary stomping when it comes to personal space. I have told her multiple times to stay out of our bedroom especially when I am not home but it never seems to stick. Last night I came home late from a shift at the hospital and I was exhausted. I walked into our bedroom to change and I was honestly stunned. Chloe was standing in front of my full length mirror wearing my favorite designer wrap dress and a vintage pearl necklace that belonged to my grandmother. She had at least fifteen other outfits pulled out of my closet and just dumped in a massive pile on the bed. My jewelry box was open and several of my rings were scattered on the nightstand. She was literally posing and taking selfies like it was a fitting room at the mall. I lost it. I did not yell but I told her to get the dress off right now and pack her things. She tried to laugh it off saying she was just "looking for inspiration" and that she didnt think I would mind because we are "practically sisters." I told her that sisters respect boundaries and that her staying here was a favor not a right. My boyfriend tried to de-escalate and said I was being dramatic because it is just clothes but I pointed out the mess on the bed and the fact that she was wearing a necklace that is literally irreplaceable. It was 11 PM and raining but I told her she needed to find a hotel or stay with a friend. My boyfriend eventually drove her to a nearby Holiday Inn but he has been giving me the cold shoulder all day. He thinks I overreacted by putting her out on the street so late at night over "some laundry" but I feel like catching her red-handed in the middle of a private space violation was the final straw. Now his parents are calling me saying I am being cruel to a "young girl" who just admires my style. Am I wrong here? submitted by /u/l1am_foster to r/amiwrong [link] [comments]

Comedian Jo Koy Lists his Vegas Pad - the 2 story chandelier is wacky enough to qualify for R/ZGW on its own
Who Knew Netflix & touring paid so well? Guard Gated Golf Community in Summerlin. Designed by local design firm and constructed in 2011 Set on half an acre in The Ridges overlooking upscale Golf course, some homes visible across the fairway. Two structures on site. The cantilevered upper floor of the main home creates a shaded courtyard, with reflecting pools, and burning Man-esque Sculptures. Detached pavilion: large room w/ bar + two flex rooms + bath. Blank slate (Dojo, Office, Gym, Guest House) Main House: 3 Levels Main Level: Enter and you’re greeted by two-story chandelier with thousands of bulbs, some working, some not, with an almost fungal quality. A separate sculptural tree trunk inspired spiral staircase leads downstairs. The first floor is adequate for the price point, kitchen is minimalist/efficient. There is a cool laundry room hallway with dog washing area, and pet run that is a dog owners dream. Lower level: Full bar, wine cellar with exposed stone walls, outdoor entertaining space (below grade), and two ensuite bedrooms. Top level: Primary suite with bedroom and very zen bath. Roof deck above with Strip views to the south, Red Rock to the west. Small infinity pool out back with a grilling area and an outdoor dining area, a gang plank connects you back to the main level of the home walking over there lower level outdoor entertaining spaces. It’s a notable property. But there’s been a clear increase in $8M+ inventory in Vegas recently, some with more privacy. Will the market support a $1.25M increase over the $10M purchase price from just three years ago? 6 beds | 8 baths | 8,244 sqft | 0.52 acres Listed at $11.25M 20 Soaring Bird Ct, Las Vegas, NV 89135 https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/20-Soaring-Bird-Ct-Las-Vegas-NV-89135/112477462\_zpid/ 360 Tour https://my.matterport.com/show/?m=YASTFRAb49a&mls=1 submitted by /u/Radiant-Stranger-992 to r/zillowgonewild [link] [comments]

Why do architects forget that pets exist? Dealing with the "litter box in the laundry room" fail.
I’m currently mid-renovation on my guest bath/laundry combo and the layout is a nightmare. I have exactly 24 inches of clearance under the vanity, and I refuse to have a plastic eyesore sitting in the middle of the hallway. I’ve spent way too long looking for a litter box for small space integration that doesn't require me to saw a hole in my custom cabinetry. Most "furniture" options are made of cheap MDF that swells the second it gets damp. I’ve shifted my search toward finding a high-performance litter box for small space that actually has a vertical footprint instead of horizontal. It’s wild that we talk about smart fridges and hidden pantries but "where to put the cat" is always an afterthought in home design. Has anyone successfully built a dedicated nook for a modern unit, or am I better off just sacrificing the bottom of my linen closet? submitted by /u/8Nakul to r/HomeImprovement [link] [comments]

AITA for not doing my fiancés laundry after he snapped at me?
I (33F) stopped doing my fiancés (33M) laundry after he snapped at me. This was three years ago, but this morning he was grumbling about how he doesn’t have any clean clothes, per usual every week and it starts to make me feel bad until I remember why I stopped doing it. To set the scene, three years ago I was heavily pregnant with our son. I was put on “light duty” not bedrest due to his heart rate fluctuating. I was seeing a doctor weekly and even had a nurse coming to the house once a week to keep an eye on things. When our son was born, his cord was wrapped around his neck twice, which the doctor quickly unwrapped and thankfully he has no issues because of it. The only problem after birth was that the whites of his eyes were completely bloodshot red from the cord being wrapped. He is now perfect and healthy in every way. Three years ago we didn’t know why this was happening so I was put on light duty. This particular day (same exact day every week), I collected my fiancé’s laundry (because why can’t he use the basket designated for his dirty clothes?), and carried them to the stairs since our washer and dryer is in the basement. Two baskets of his dirty clothes sat for THREE DAYS by the stairs as I reminded him multiple times a day to carry his laundry down. (Heavily pregnant, light duty, and stairs do not mix well). On the third day of his laundry sitting by the stairs (stairs are in my kitchen btw and right by our back door which we use often, so very much in the way) I got a bit frustrated and in a more “nagging” tone complained about how he needs to carry his laundry downstairs so I can wash it for him. He snapped at me. He told me “ITS MY LAUNDRY, I’ll carry it down when I feel like it!” (With more expletives) and left for work. So I carried his dirty clothes back to the room. A few days later he asked me to wash some of his clothes because he had no clean clothes left, I told him no “because I’ll do it when I feel like it”. To present day, our drier peaced out on us so I’ve had to take the household clothes, two kids clothes, and my clothes to my mothers house until we can get a new dryer. I told my fiance I’ll take his shirts, socks, underwear to my moms too but he has to collect it (like I said, why doesn’t he use his designated basket!?) and put it in my car the night before. I ONLY DO LAUNDRY ON MONDAYS. It’s been over a year. He won’t do it, it’s like Monday laundry day sneaks up on him or something? Either way, I refuse to collect, carry, wash, dry, fold, return, put away everything. If he can’t even collect it and carry it to my car than that’s his problem. So, AITA for not doing my fiancés laundry anymore after he snapped at me? submitted by /u/BigTime-PettyBetty to r/CharlotteDobreYouTube [link] [comments]

New Laundry Room in Lerhyttan Blue with integrated Laundry Chute
After struggling with an undersized laundry room for 3 years, we decided to move the laundry room into the guest bedroom and turned to IKEA for a solution. We were a little uncertain about putting IKEA cabinets into a > million dollar home but after reading tons of posts about their quality and flexibility, we are so glad we did. From using IKEA’s kitchen designer online, to order and pickup, nearly everything was flawless. The closest IKEA is a 4 hour drive, and they do not yet have a LERH blue display yet or in store availability, so we purchased our cabinet frames and hardware there and ordered the doors and cover panels online. The only hiccup in the process was 7 pieces missing from the online delivery, including a large cover panel, 3 doors and the toe kicks. IKEA made it right, but this did delay the project completion by a few weeks. Other than that, everything came together perfectly. My advice is to order extra for trim / molding and panels so you have some forgiveness. We ran out of crown trim to finish the vertical display cabinet, and I didn’t want to delay further, so I made my own on the table saw and paint matched a door at Sherwin-Williams. Can’t really tell the difference unless you know it’s not original. We have 3 kids upstairs so preserving the laundry chute was a must. We re routed the chute through the wall and into the corner cabinet which turned out to be one of my favorite features. I’ll include a video here and more pictures in the thread. There are a lot of questions about the actual color of the blue, because depending on your lighting it can photo as dark blue, almost navy, to a lighter French blue in natural light. I can say the color is closer to how it’s represented on the website (more French blue than navy) and doesn’t feel as dark as it appears in my photos - I’ll represent both below. Perfect for what we wanted and really pops with satin gold hardware. Anyway- there isn’t a lot of examples of Lerh blue on the internet so sharing in case you are considering this. Happy to answer any questions. Happy browsing! submitted by /u/Spydermagnet2 to r/IKEA [link] [comments]

Laundry room upgrade
Pretty significant laundry room update completed over about 2.5 weeks which included some delays in materials. Started because that utility sink was leaking behind the wall, causing the flooring to warp. Moved drains, supplies, electrical, gas, HVAC, removed that exterior door, had to fur out the ceiling to level it to accept that crown. Had to add new drywall along the side wall because of mold. And the flooring we obviously changed to tile and added a nicer light fixture. Yes we kept the washer and dryer for now. They will be replaced soon. I am a GC. My wife is our lead designer. We did this for a little under $10k in materials plus my guys labor. Majority of the work was done in about 5 work days with the rest being cabinetry, paint and finishes. submitted by /u/MistaWesSoFresh to r/Remodel [link] [comments]

When The Rinse Washes You Clean, You'll Know - Citric Acid Rinses
Revised 9/15/2025 Why Add Something To The Rinse? There’s a Goldilocks point of how much detergent a particular load needs. Not enough, the soils in clothing don’t get removed. Too much, and you’re not only wasting detergent, but you can get buildup in the textiles due to modern laundry equipment being really good at washing and sort of crap at rinsing, as well as buildup in the machine because there are nooks and crannies that don’t regularly get exposed to much more than a splash of water. In a perfectly-dosed load of laundry, the detergent all rinses away and the final rinse water is indistinguishable from tap. Nobody’s load of laundry is perfectly dosed. We either tolerate some residual detergent or we don’t have clean clothes. Further, alkali residues in laundry contribute to skin irritation and texture problems in fabrics. You could rinse and rinse and rinse, but that’s a waste of drinking water. There’s a better answer than dilution: neutralization. Souring On pH Imbalances Commercial laundries have known about the importance of wash and rinse pH since the dawn of automatic laundry. They use extremely alkaline processes to get off oily soils and then they use automatically dosed acids called “laundry sours” to neutralize the alkali. That’s why hotel towels get so white and so fluffy - they blast the dirt and oil off at ph 12+, neutralize it to slightly acidic (pH 6 is optimal) and dry. High pH also helps dry cleaners get starched shirts free of things like that floozy from accounting’s lipstick on the collar of a shirt that is very much not her husband’s. The problem with these highly acidic and alkaline commercial chemistries is that they’re incredibly corrosive to skin and machines if splashed or overdosed. Commercial users monitor the pH of the final rinse water and subtly adjust the dose of these acids to get it right, and humans never touch the raw material. Home launderers do not have that luxury. Acid, In MY HOUSE? -It’s Not Just A Problem Faced By Concerned Mothers Of Teenagers In The 1960s! Big Laundry has figured out that they can get in this game for home launderers with acidic products that neutralize overdosed detergent, improve texture, and optionally add a final hit of fragrance. Selling you another thirty to fifty cents of product is good for their bottom lines, and keeps you from trying to dial down the detergent they’re selling you to the bare minimum to avoid residue. Win/Win. There’s a bunch of these products out there. P&G was the innovator with Downy Rinse Out Odor (née Rinse & Refresh) / Tide Clean Boost / Gain Rinse & Renew. They’re all identical save the fragrance package - mixtures of citric acid, sodium citrate, a glycol to give it some thickness / reduce splashing, and some preservatives so it lasts forever on the shelf. The concentration is designed so that a fabric softener dispenser holds the right amount for a given machine’s capacity, and the pH is buffered so that it’s more friendly to skin and eyes if it’s splashed on full-strength and won’t be particularly harmful if swallowed. Downy Rinse Out Odor, née Rinse & Refresh I can’t overstate how much of a laundry advance these products are: they’re probably the biggest thing to hit home laundry since Liquid Tide in 1985. They are remarkably effective at neutralizing detergent and alkaline residues in laundry. They’re safe to handle, they smell nice if you want them to, and they very much improve laundry texture and fragrance. They incidentally keep machines cleaner and reduce the risk of hard water residue on textiles, even with perfectly dosed detergent. If you like the fragrance and don’t mind the money, use them. The store brand and dollar store knockoffs work about as well - you may need to adjust dosing a little. Martha Stewart Meets Mister Wizard If you don’t care about April Fresh fragrance or the 401(k)s of P&G execs, you can just replace the active ingredient in these water-clear rinse products, citric acid. Because it comes in a convenient powdered form, you can make it fresh for every load of laundry and save some money. There’s no worry about spills because it’s a dry powder. Citric acid powders or crystals are available where home food canning or soap making supplies are sold, in Middle Eastern and Eastern European speciality food markets or online. If you’re buying it by the ton, buy technical grade and save 10%, but food grade is fine in this application and is generally cheaper in small quantities - more competition. It has an indefinite shelf life as a dry product, and if it clumps up due to atmospheric moisture, a whack of the bag will separate it again. Literally any brand is fine - $5/pound or so, delivered, is a reasonable price. One pound should do approximately 90 loads of laundry in a front loader or HE top-loader, 40 or so in a conventional top-loader. This happened to be the cheapest 2# bag of citric acid on Amazon with fast delivery the last time I needed a new one. They're all the same. You don’t need much. It’s pretty much a factor of your washer’s water use. Most HE machines need about 6-8 grams - which is about 1.5 -2 measuring teaspoons. I sort of eyeball it with a fat heaped teaspoonful right in the softener drawer of my LG washer, dry. Most top loaders need at least double - somewhere between a level and heaping Tablespoon - 15-20 grams would be a good starting point. If your water is known to be hard, use more. Increase by about 50% of the base dose for every 100ppm of hardness past 150 in your tap water. Your machine adds the water if it’s an HE machine with a drawer or compartment-type dispenser. You add the water to the fill line if it’s a conventional top-loader with an agitator-top dispenser or if you use The Downy Ball because you don’t have a dispenser. Most HE machines tolerate the dry powder in the dispenser just fine. If you find residue in yours, just top off the dispenser with tap water after adding the acid. How To Tell It's Working: You’ll feel the difference in the first wash. Whether homemade or prerolled, this is not a subtle difference. Towels are fluffier, cotton knits are drape-ier, sheets are smoother. It's not the greasy slick feel of liquid softener or dryer sheets - rather, a cottony-soft slightly fluffy feel. Synthetics have a slicker smoother feel without any hint of greasiness. Liquid Assets: If you have a dispensing system that takes an entire jug of softener at a time, or don’t have a water source close by, and want to use a DIY liquid form, you can just dissolve the right amount of citric acid in water in advance. It’s VERY unlikely you’ll get microbial growth in a pH 3.5 solution like this (in fact, citric acid solutions are an EPA-registered limited disinfectant against many microorganisms) , but it still behooves you to not mix up more than you’ll use in a month or two. Use room temperature tap water and dissolve the citric acid in the water (always add acid to water, not water to acid!), and store in a labeled glass or plastic container out of the reach of children. The question becomes “how much”? And that’s left as an exercise to the reader. It’s easier for conventional top-loader / Downy Ball users: measure how much liquid the dispenser holds to the fill line. Put that much water time how many doses you want to make in the glass or plastic container. Now add enough acid for each dose times the number of doses. An example: if your top-loader agitator-top dispenser holds 4 fl oz / 125 mL to the fill line, and you’re making 32 doses, fill up a gallon jug with 120 oz of water, add 512 grams of powder, and top off with water until the jug is full. Use 4 oz in each load and you’ll get 16 grams of acid in each load, no measuring required. Sorry for mixing metric and freedom units. Die mad about it. For drawer type dispensers, measure how much water it takes to the fill line, multiply that by how many doses you want to make, and add six to eight grams of powder to the water. For a fancy tank dispenser, Read The Fine Manual and see how much it expects to dose in each load. Six to eight grams of acid per load times the dispensed volume in water per load, multiplied by the number of doses the tank holds . If you want to add some fragrance to these liquids, you can. Essential oils generally tolerate some acid well, but maybe make a little up and see how it smells after it sits awhile. You’ll also want to shake the jug well before each use as the oils will tend to behave as oils do and float on top of the watery component. Congratulations: you’ve done what took P&G an approximate eternity to figure out, for a fraction of the money. Get yourself a little sweet treat as a reward. V1negar Is For Salads The Salad Dressing Mafia dumps white v1negar into the rinse cycle to neutralize the detergent. And it works for that. But it smells like an Italian sub sandwich while it’s wet and it takes a lot of mass to do a good job because household distilled white v1negar is only 5% acid. Moreover, acetic acid neutralizes one hydroxide ion for every molecule of acid. So one cup of v1inegar can neutralize about a teaspoon of a strong alkali. Readers, know that your laundry is generally much more alkaline than that. One teaspoon of citric acid powder neutralizes more alkali than that same cup of v1negar, without the weight, the smell or the endless plastic jugs. But What About The Seals? There's a persistent belief that citric acid is bad for the seals. I don't know what aquatic mammals have to do with laundry aside from being cute on the bag of Foca detergent. But know that this chemistry doesn't actually leave the machine or the rinse water strongly acidic. It leaves it within the range of normal tap water instead of strongly alkaline like unneutralized detergent residues do. Cautions: Last One In Is A Rotten Egg: If your water has sulfur in it, the lowered pH can cause a faint rotten egg smell. This will usually flash off when the textiles are dried. You may want to use a commercial product with fragrance in it if this is a sustained issue. Bummer about your water. It’s A Laundry Product, Not A Beverage or Eyewash: This is slightly more acidic than lime juice, but if it gets on your skin, or in your eyes, rinse thoroughly with tap water. If swallowed, contact poison control for guidance. Counteroffers: Don’t let the liquid or powder remain on stone or concrete countertops or floors. Citric acid dissolves calcium. Stone and concrete surfaces contain calcium. Rinse promptly. Financial/AI Disclosures: None of the links are affiliate links. Nobody is paying me to write these posts. I don't make a dime from any of this. This is all 100% produced by a semi-sentient actual human. submitted by /u/KismaiAesthetics to r/laundry [link] [comments]

Tiny Laundry Rooms - where are your clothes???
We have a tiny square space that is our laundry room. You can fit the machines side by side or stacked. There is about 3 ft of space in front, but that is the walkway and machine access. All of the designs I see for this size laundry room are machines and shelves, but where are the clothes?!? Are you guys all keeping hampers everywhere but the laundry room and only bringing stuff in there when it goes in the machine?? Any pics/advice of tiny laundry layouts appreciated. I was thinking of using stacked and a pantry, but maybe I need some sort of vertical dirty laundry storage? Our house is only 1100sq ft and I hate talking up space with hampers everywhere. submitted by /u/Independent_Fox8656 to r/HomeDecorating [link] [comments]

How would you design this oversized laundry room?
My sisters laundry room is large. About 12x10. She has 3 kids all under the age of 3. What would you do to this room to make it functional in her busy home? Craft section? Seating? Coffee bar? submitted by /u/Marijuanettey to r/homedesign [link] [comments]

🧺✨💚 My Cozy Multi-Functional Laundry Room 💚 ✨🧺
I just finished decorating my laundry room in Animal Crossing and wanted to share it! I was going for a cozy, lived-in feel—like the kind of space where you actually enjoy doing chores. I added a washer and dryer set, an ironing board, and a drying rack with some clothes to make it feel realistic. There’s also a little coffee corner because honestly, who wouldn’t want a cup of coffee while waiting for the laundry to finish? I tried to warm up the space with green walls, a soft floral rug, and a few plants and hanging decor. This design was inspired by a photo (second photo) I saved ages ago (I can’t remember where it’s from), but I’m really happy with how it turned out. Let me know what you think, and I’d love to see your laundry room setups too! 🧼🌿 submitted by /u/ChickenWingCEO to r/AnimalCrossing [link] [comments]

I'm the poor kid in a rich college, and I hate waking up every morning
I go to this ridiculously elite college. The kind that shows up on those “top 10 schools in the world” lists. I got in on a full scholarship—my golden ticket out, or so I thought. But I feel like a fucking ghost here. My friends drive BMWs and Teslas. They wear designer jackets like it's no big deal. They sip overpriced coffee between classes and casually order food like money is just… background noise. They talk about trips to Switzerland, buying watches, family yachts, goddamn ski trips. I smile. I nod. I laugh sometimes. I’ve gotten good at acting like I belong. But I don’t. I ride the bus to class and pray it’s not raining because my only pair of decent shoes leak. I eat the same $2 meals every day and pretend I’m not hungry when everyone goes out to eat. I make excuses—“Oh, I’m tired,” “Got a lot of work,” “Not feeling great.” It’s easier than saying “I can’t afford a burger, man.” Do you know how humiliating it is to count coins in your dorm while your friends debate where to eat this weekend? Or to pretend you're “minimalist” because you literally can’t buy new clothes? I smile through it all, but inside, I’m just… tired. I don’t even feel human sometimes. Just this hollow thing sitting in rooms I never thought I’d see, surrounded by people who don’t even realize I’m fading. It’s not their fault, I guess. How could they know what it’s like to panic over laundry money while their parents wire them $5,000 for “emergencies”? I thought getting into this place would change my life. Maybe it did. But no one tells you how lonely it is to finally make it and still feel like you don’t deserve to breathe the same air. Like the universe let you in by mistake. I don’t even want to go out anymore. I don't want to explain myself. I don’t want pity. I just want to stop feeling like surviving every day is some kind of performance. It’s hard to admit, but I’m starting to hate the sound of my alarm clock. Because every morning, I wake up, and it all begins again—the pretending, the smiling, the lying. And no matter how well I play the part, I still go to bed hungry, both literally and… something deeper than that. I don’t know why I’m posting this. Maybe I just needed to feel like someone might see me, even for a second. Anyway. That’s all. Thanks. submitted by /u/came_from_earth to r/povertyfinance [link] [comments]

Before and after laundry room
Remodeled our laundry room a few months ago. There was not enough storage and it wasn’t very functional. Replaced the flooring with some black tiles from floor and decor, new recessed lighting, built ins for a ton of storage, and raised the height of the washer/dryer so we could get a basket underneath the doors. Curtain from wayfair. Paint is Sherwin Williams natural linen on the cabinets, west highland white on the walls. Our contractor was Humble Home Designs out of Dallas/Frisco and we highly recommend if you’re in the area! submitted by /u/balanoff to r/InteriorDesign [link] [comments]

TIFU by realising I destroyed an art piece in a gallery 10 years ago
While this event happened 10 years ago, I literally just realised an hour ago what I actually did. In 2014 I was just completing my Masters Degree in design. Now, the way the degree was set up it was one course of 40 people, but we were all doing different areas. Dance, architecture, sculpture, textiles, everything and anything. We’d have lectures together, and present the progress on our projects every couple of months. So end of year comes around and we start setting up our final gallery show. The space we were using was the first-year art students workshop, which we cleared out and prepped and pained fresh. When I arrived to do my part, one wall as a mess. Like 100 holes all over it, like a hammer and knife attack. I was pissed that a first year did this to a structural wall, and grabbed the sandpaper, filler and paint to fix it. The show went ahead fine with a warning ‘wet paint’ sign on that section. I think you can tell where this is going. You know how your brain suddenly reminds you of things out of nowhere? Like ‘shit, my laundry!’ Or ‘Argh I forgot to pay that bill!’ Well, I’m sat in bed today and suddenly realise… ‘Fuck… that was Anna’s master degree piece!’ You see, Anna was a part time mature student on different hours to the rest of us. We saw one presentation of her work which was about making repeated holes/cuts into paper/card. I never thought about it much again. She must have come in before the rest of us, created the wall piece for the show, and left. And I’d gone a filled it and painted it away. To be fair, she never left any note or name on the piece. I don’t even know if she knew what happened to it, since it’s not like she would need to come back to collect it after the show since it was, you know, a wall. If she did, I hope she saw humour in it and added it to the piece’s story - ‘humans crave to repair damage’ etc. Either way, I’m now silently cringing and may need to repent to the art gods lest karma strike me. TL:DR I filled and painted over someone’s Master Degree installation piece because I thought is was a damaged wall. Edit: A quick edit just to answer a couple most common questions. We’d all already presented our work for grading before the show, so I didn’t affect her grades at all. By ‘structural’ wall I really mean a permanent outer wall of the room, rather than a temporary one built for hanging work in the show that is removed later. ‘Why did you repair a random wall??’ When you put on an art show, often you start with a grotty space that needs clearing up first. We had 3 days to clear out the junk, scrub floors, repair damage, build temporary gallery walls, paint everything white, hang work and lighting and clear up any construction mess. We all turned up whenever we had time to pitch in before the show. submitted by /u/emilydoooom to r/tifu [link] [comments]

Here's a video of the 'splatter' floor when it was finished. Nevermind the laundry room transition, that whole room is a separate project.
