Snake Plant Question
My mom has this massive snake plant in her kitchen. It is massively root bound, which I understand that snake plants will always grow until they take over the pot but this seems like there is little dirt left. My mom wants to take it out and repot into several pots but is worried that cutting apart the plant will kill it. It is beautiful and seems happy so she is afraid to mess with it. She instructed me to “ask that Reddit thing you use all the time” so here I am. Any advice? submitted by /u/DDayDawg to r/houseplants [link] [comments]

What happens when you give a snake plant what it wants
This is what happens when you treat a snake plant like a plant and give it bright light, deep and frequent waterings, and fertilizer. (By “frequent waterings” I mean that I water it as soon as the soil dries out completely. I don’t let it sit in bone-dry soil for weeks or even for days.) submitted by /u/According-Taste-5481 to r/houseplants [link] [comments]

Weird co-worker's weird advice saved my snake plant
Just wanted to share this funny story from a few months back. My office snake plant was struggling bad--leaves were wrinkled and completely drooped over. It had sprouted a pup, but the pup hadn't grown at all for several months. I did some research and read posts here, and figured it was overwatered, so I cut back on watering. Unfortunately, no improvement, and it seemed like all the info I could find based on my plant's symptoms pointed to "likely underwatering or overwatering." One of my colleagues is a grumpy older guy who used to love growing bonsais and exotic houseplants. He's kind of gruff and his job is way more important than mine, so I hate to bother him but I bit the bullet and brought my plant to his office to ask for advice. He looked at it, stuck a finger in the soil, and told me to immediately give it half an ounce of milk, and that I had been underwatering by a lot. So, off to the cafeteria I went for a little carton of milk, gave a thorough watering, and the leaves were back upright within 72 hours. We're now on a 2x a week watering schedule, and the little pup is as tall as mama! So...did I just miss the memo that sometimes plants need milk? Has anyone else had a plant they thought was a lost cause saved by totally unexpected advice? submitted by /u/i_fart_chemtrails to r/houseplants [link] [comments]

My Snake Plant Grew Legs?
Hello! So I noticed my snake plant started to rise out of its pot and I’ve discovered these offshoots. I’m guessing it’s new growth although I don’t understand why they’re growing downwards? How should I repot this plant to keep it happy? Just a bigger pot to accommodate the legs and let it get on with it? Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/Schmancing to r/houseplants [link] [comments]

I've had this snake plant for nearly 3 years, hasn't grown a bit
I bought a fancy handmade ceramic pot at a fair nearly 3 years ago and it had this plant in it. For the first year or so I was definitely over watering it. Finally did some research on snake plants and moved it to this little pot and started watering every 2-3 weeks. I can't even kill the thing, I was convinced it was a really good fake until I repotted it. At this point I'm not even mad it's so small, doesn't take up much room on my side table submitted by /u/Relyt4 to r/houseplants [link] [comments]

My shower snake plant is growing like crazy and blooming
I didn’t even know that snake plants flower. The shower has a large glass block window and I water every 1-2 weeks. It’s a damp environment but it’s an obnoxiously large shower and water doesn’t reach it directly. I wasn’t sure if there would be enough light so I added a small plant light on the opposite side from the window. submitted by /u/tlaquepaque0 to r/houseplants [link] [comments]

Tips for keeping snake plant healthy!
I am going to be picking up this plant from my neighbour later today. To be completely honest, I am unsure what the current watering and light situation is for the plant. I am wondering if anyone has any tips to straighten up the leaves and keep it healthy. I have a pretty low-light apartment. And unsure of how much to water it. submitted by /u/sgibson98 to r/plantclinic [link] [comments]
