I was using AI designs from ChatGPT/Gemini prompts, looking at bestsellers, and essentially creating "more of the same." ​We all know the digital wall art market is incredibly saturated, but it hit me that most of this saturation comes from people using the same AI models with very similar aesthetic "fingerprints." ​Here’s my dilemma/idea: I’m actually a landscape photographer. Instead of fighting the uphill battle of generic AI images, I’m thinking of pivoting entirely. I’ve always loved those clean, high-end city posters you see on Etsy, but I wanted a way to customize every single detail myself without being a GIS expert. I’ve been building Terraink as a side project to do exactly that. I just pushed a massive update that moves the app from a static generator to a fully interactive canvas. Instead of "generating" and waiting, you can now fly across the globe in real-time. I swapped the backend to MapLibre, which allowed me to add: Total Theme Customization: You can now click "Customize" on any preset to change every hex code for land, water, parks, and roads. Layer Toggles: You can strip the map down to just the road "skeleton" or include buildings and parks for more texture. Vector Scaling: Since it’s all vector-based now, you can zoom out from a single neighborhood to an entire continent, and the labels/details update intelligently. High-Res PDF Export: For those who want to actually print these at 300 DPI for their walls. It’s completely free and open-source. So I started making mandalas with my scrap yarn a couple years ago and so far I gave away so many to my family and friends, they are relatively quick to make (depends on the size) and use so little material, I really love them!! A couple of years ago a local publication asked me if I could design a mandala for them as they were about to release a volume with mandala patterns. Most of the mandala designs were made by crochet, but since I knitted a lot of textured berets at the time, they though that I could design something for them (I believe the though process was that berets are like circles looked from above lol). I did not know how to make anything like this at the time but decided to give it a go and omg I loved the process so much!! Second photo is my first mandala ever (the bigger one on the wall), I litterally use the Pi Shawl formula and draw a bunch of squares on stitch fiddle, each bigger than the previous one and stacked them from smallest (1x1) to biggest (16x16). Then I proceded to draw lace charts on each square using decreases to form petals. Hi everyone! I just moved into my first place and the white walls are really starting to bum me out. I’ve been spending way too much time looking at wall arts for some prints but i’m honestly so nervous about the framing and the nails. My landlord is really strict about holes in the drywall and i don't want to mess anything up. I’m really curious if there are any other options that look a bit more "solid" than just paper posters but don't require power tools. I saw some metal looking prints online that use magnets and i’m wondering if anyone has tried those? How do they handle on slightly textured walls? I was heavily inspired by one of my favorite artists, small white monster, and created this piece. The second image is the work I drew inspiration from. The artist uses gouache, but I only have access to acrylic for right now. I want the piece to convey a sense of existential sadness and my working title is “the universe, right behind you”. I used liquitex basics acrylic paint on canvas paper and various brushes. Unfortunately the blending I did left it looking splotchy rather than the textured wall I was going for. Head to Guthrie Farm, directly south of the "guitar pole". Pic 1 shows the innocuous weathervane wall-art, Pic 2 the guitar in the adjacent room pointing NW, Pics 3-5 show the indentation that I can't quite place. up close. The art style of the arrow seems similar to the pole-clues, and the arrow itself is made of four separate blocks, as in it uses multiple polygons/textures instead of being one whole "weathervane.ydr" file to stay hidden from data miners, similar to the spider web mesh. Edit: it is one whole object as per u/tracysevert The arrow's fletching (feathered section at the rear/right of the arrow) has 8 sections, though this is a coincidence I'm sure. The indentation that the arrow is pointing toward seems intentional. I can't find any other similar markings on the wood in this cabin. I thought it might be the kerosene lantern clipping through the wall behind this, but that doesn't line up height-wise. I recently got inspired to try creating a decorative rock surface with my own hands. I’ve never worked with plaster, sculpting tools, or anything similar before, so this was a completely new experience for me. I watched a bunch of tutorials, took notes on different techniques, bought the materials, and decided to start learning by doing. My first test piece was small, but after that I wanted to try something larger — this panel is 80×120 cm. I built up the base shape with pieces of foam, applied plaster in several layers, carved the details, and finally painted it with acrylics. I also added some visible brush texture intentionally, as a stylistic choice, to make it feel more like hand-made art rather than an imitation of real rock. Since I’m still new to this, it’s hard for me to objectively judge the result. I would love to hear feedback, criticism, or advice from more experienced artists.
