What to do if TV is wider than a feature wall? Help with overcoming this unbalanced look needed.
I have this slightly protruding feature wall in solid brown color (color edited by AI). Family bought a new tv to replace this old tv but unfortunately it’s too big and will be overhanging either side of the wall. My ID immediately suggested changing the wall design to make it wider than the TV but is too expensive and irreversible if I wish to change TV or down size in the future ? . How to resolve this design issue without hacking way or rebuilding this wall? Thanks for ideas! Thanks for replying - TV is bought by family and they are not that worried about wrong size, and refuses to change to a smaller TV. My wife designed and built our family home in Surat from scratch. G+3 villa, took 1.5 years. Sharing because I am genuinely proud of what she pulled off.
A little context before the pictures. My wife Krishna is an architect. In January 2024 our family decided to build our home in Surat from scratch and she took on the entire project end to end, architecture, interiors, execution, everything. By March 2025 the home was ready. No contractor handoff, no outsourced design. She was on site through the whole thing. The brief was warm, lived-in, functional. Not a showroom. We have senior citizens at home and a young kid, so the design had to work for everyone across generations. Storage was a priority. A lift was non-negotiable for the elders. And we wanted wood everywhere without it feeling heavy or dark. The structure is G+3. Ground floor is parking. First floor is the main living, kitchen and dining. Second floor has 2 bedrooms. Third floor has the master bedroom with a large open terrace. A few things I think came out really well: The TV wall on the first floor has the staircase running behind it, so she designed the shelving unit to frame the staircase opening. The kitchen has grey stone counters with cream lacquer shutters and walnut upper cabinets. The lift is integrated into the living room wall so it does not feel like an afterthought. The whole project from first drawing to possession took just over 14 months. If you are also looking for end to end architecture, interiors or just consulting and drawings for your home, she takes on projects in Bangalore and Surat. 40M living in a subsidised government apartment
Got my own space after living with my parents for 40 years. Now living on my own at the western part of Singapore. Anything else you think I can do? Edit: Thank you guys for the upvote and compliments! Never imagined that it would cause a stir. Responses to FAQs: Chair: HÅG Capisco Puls 8020 Monitor: Samsung M5/M50D 32" Smart Monitor Desk setup: I placed the desk in this configuration because it also serves as my TV console. When I’m not in the mood to work, I just sit on the sofa and use the smart monitor as my TV. Lamp: IKEA VARMBLIXT lamp Mat: Ngh Ngh pooping mat https://shop.wheniwasfour.com/products/ngh-ngh-bath-mat?_pos=18&_sid=1f142d36e&_ss=r Wall paintings: One is a purchase from a painter whom a priest knows, and the other was a gift from the same priest. Lighting: The lights are warm orange, but the iPhone camera autocorrects them to white. I can also adjust the lights to white or warm white. Mahjong nightstand: Can be purchased here: https://lofthome.com/products/modern-resin-side-table-huat Oven placement: The oven ended up on the sink-side counter as a band-aid. The initial plan was to place it near the stove, but it was too close. But it’s a regret I can live with anyway. Decor: Paintings for my bedroom and plants for the house are on the way. Housing in Singapore: Yes, this is a newly built subsidised flat. I live in Singapore, and every citizen is eligible to purchase a flat from the Housing and Development Board (HDB). Single citizens aged 35 and above can purchase either a new 1-bedroom flat with a fresh 99-year lease, or buy any flat type from the resale market through property agents. 2 years and 2,600+ hexagons later…. and I still haven’t decided on a layout! Help!
I have finally finished sewing together my 218 individual hexie flowers (with their background hexagons as well) and now I need help deciding how I’m going to sew them to each other! I took a picture of each flower as I finished it, removed the background, and uploaded it to Canva so I could play around with my options. It took forever but it was kinda fun to try out new arrangements without having to stand on a chair to reach the top of my design wall. I’m leaning towards the random layout just because I have already done a lot of color gradient-esque quilts. Also, I think it lets the individual flowers pop a bit more whereas they kind of blend together in the gradient options. But I’d love to hear from the rest of you what you think! This WIP has kept me company through so many travels, late night TV binges, road trips, and work phone calls. A lot of the hexies are completely random or scraps from my stash, while others were carefully chosen and fussy-cut to display things that I like or that make me happy. I already love this quilt, and I am both excited and nervous to jump into the next step. And I still haven’t even begun to think about how I’m going to quilt it! Though let’s be real that probably won’t happen for another two years. submitted by /u/angervase to r/quilting [link] [comments]

I made a TV-wall for my living-room
Hey there, since here are so many cool projects, I wanted to share one of mine too. I had my old tv for a good while now and it moved several times with me. After I moved into my house, I placed it the same way it always was, but now it felt kinda small due to the largr rooms. I also got tired of the annoying cleaning-process because of these angled feet and also wanted to get rid of seeing this cable-mess. So I decided to build a TV-wall that should solve all my "problems" pic 1: before - after pic 2: my old "setup": Ikea Besta, black surface (always dusty), 42 inch TV, speakers don't fit besides the tv, so they had to stand partially behind the TV, playstations got dusty and had problems to cool down, because they were partially enclosed. pic 3 - 4: I bought a wider version of the Ikea Besta (could've build one my own, but I wanted something with smoke-glass and had trouble to find some affordable stuff). I cut out triangles in the bottoms and the shelves to create airflow later. Then I designed and 3d-printed some covers to hide the hollow sections. I also integrated some anti-dust-meshes into these covers, but for some reason I didn't take photos of them. pic 5 - 6: My idea was to integrate some noctua fansto both sides, which start to pull air through the cabinet when the temperature hits a certain point. So I cut some holes into the sides, mounted them and got some covers for a cleaner look. pic 7: For easier cable management i driled some holes into the inside walls and got some variable covers, which hide the hollow walls but are big enough to fit plugs through them. pic 8 - 10: I cut the socket-are out of the back-wall, screwed it to the wall, installed the tv-mount and gave it a first look... still cables, much emptyness and black surfaces. (my door-frame got painted white later and it doesn't look that rough anymore) pic 11 - 12: Bought a black MDF board, cut it to the correct size, created 3 (+1) sections and screwed some light-ash strips to it to create the optics of these wood-foam-panel-thingys. I also integrated a shelf to create a cleaner look and give the whole back-wall more rigidity. pic 13 - 16: I also made a light-ash countertop, installed everything on the wall and finished my cable-cover (pic 14). The cover is also black MDF with enough space to hide my cables. to prevent it from bending and breaking, I added some metal-strips to the top and bottom and glued magnets into previously drilled wholes. Those will snap to the magnets in the backwall to hold it in place. pic 17: For better audio-management I needed a specific audio-extractor for which I 3d printed a mount to hide it behind the TV. pic 18: Inside the cabinets are my electronics and above the PS5 you can see a heat-sensor (shiny metal thing), which controls the fans. This works absolutely perfect, whenever the temperature goes above 35°C it activates the fans, which cool the interior down to ~30°C. When the console gets turned off, it cools to 27°C and then it stops running. pic 19 - 20: finished look. I guess it turned out pretty nice. My home is still pretty empty and I am really bad in decorating, so I am sorry for this pity decoration. In the future, I will get some better speakers, but for now they work just fine. Also my subwoofer sits inside the middle cabinet and I am happy, not to have stuff standing on the floor anymore. Have a nice day, everyone submitted by /u/iBeryl to r/DIY [link] [comments]

I spent 36 years in prison for a crime I did not commit. I was a mother of two kids who went in at age 32; I was released at age 68 and granted a full pardon. AMA!
Hi Reddit, I'm Judy Henderson. In 1982, I was running a tanning salon and raising two kids when I was wrongfully convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. During my 36 years inside, I: Earned my GED and became a paralegal (turns out having your own case makes for excellent homework) Survived a prison hit ordered against me (spoiler: I won) Found ways to mother my two children through concrete walls and call time limits Became "The Governor" to fellow inmates (not for political aspirations—I just wouldn't back down to anyone) Created programs for incarcerated mothers that are still running today Watched the world change through occasional glimpses of TV (I went in when phones had cords and came out when they had TikTok) After decades of fighting, I was finally granted clemency in 2017 and given a full pardon in 2018. Now at 76, I am enjoying my freedom with family and friends, work at Catholic Charities, and just wrote a book called WHEN THE LIGHT FINDS US that comes out today. The weirdest thing about freedom? Automatic doors. They still freak me out. I've seen the darkest corners of our justice system and experienced how people can transform even in the most dehumanizing environments. I've watched women create beauty from nothing and find purpose in places designed to crush the spirit. Ask me anything about prison life, maintaining hope through decades of injustice, how to make cake using only soda and prison candy (trust me, it works!), or what it's like to start your life over at 68. Proof: https://imgur.com/a/Wfb5hbj Update: Thanks everyone for your questions! I really appreciate people taking the time, and I'll try to answer more of these in the hours and days to come. Thank you again, and be well! submitted by /u/Judy_Henderson to r/IAmA [link] [comments]

How to lower super heavy 85” TV with dedicated cut out on wall
We purchased a house almost a year ago and one of the things I knew would drive me crazy was the TV cutout in our living room being super high. My family loves watching sports and movies together so we spend a lot of time around the TV. The TV is an 85” TCL with a super wide VESA pattern of 600 x 600. We purchased it new with the intention of mounting it in the living room where you see it. I had a mount that is much more user friendly but then found out it wasn’t compatible with that huge VESA size (ECHOGEAR MaxMotion TV Wall Mount... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073QX1ZMS?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share). I had to use a different mount to accommodate it which is a lot tricker to mount the TV on (NB North Bayou Heavy Duty TV Wall... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C4TM7VL4?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share). When we moved in I had the help of our movers to give me a hand lifting it high up on to the mount. Even with two of them helping me, it was super heavy to lift up. Before I was able to lock it in place it fell and the corner cut a 4” hole in our flooring. The TV still works though! Not an advertisement for TCL but it’s been virtually unaffected. I mounted the TV mount as low as I could get it due to the placement of our power and Ethernet outlets. It’s 11 ¾” from the top to bottom edge and the distance from the outlets to the bottom of the cut out is 11”. Having to mount it around the outlets means it is 5 ½” higher than the lowest I could theoretically get it in the cut out. The TV is big enough that moving it 6” down should still not show the top of the cut out behind it. But those 6” would actually make a pretty impactful difference in how high it feels. I’ve explored a few mount extender options which promised to lower it 6” (ynVISION.DESIGN Vertical VESA... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D9HVJZ8Z?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share and IFCASE Vertical VESA Extender... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DLWRKTLW?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share) but they didn’t appear to be compatible with the mount I had to use. What other options do I have to lower the TV those 6 inches? I know ideally it would be lower but I’d rather not have the cut out showing behind it. And either way I don’t want to drill through whatever material covering the column surrounding the fireplace/TV cut out. Also, any options for handling this myself without having to hire someone? I feel like I won the lottery with it falling once and not breaking but I’m anxious it could happen again. submitted by /u/riderist to r/TVTooHigh [link] [comments]

Terrible room design. Where would you put a TV?
Our new place (rental) is pretty small. We don't have a basement and we don't do TV in the bedroom. We have one room where a TV could go but above the fireplace is problematic as it's clearly too high and would block the window. There's an alcove but not sure how a TV would fit in that space. A stand would mean a very tiny TV, and placing it on the floor would look ridiculous, but we're open to it. Our TV is currently a 50 inch. There's one wall ( to the right of a window) that looks possible but that would put our couch very close to the fireplace, just about touching the fireplace glass and block off access to the room. Our couch is long and only really fits in the room facing the fireplace. Where would you all place a TV? submitted by /u/Unlikely-Ad210 to r/DesignMyRoom [link] [comments]

I wall mounted my AMS Lite with a $10 TV mount from Harbor Freight.
That main plate detaches from the arm and provides a space to clip on this holder I designed. You can pull it forward and adjust/angle it when you’re loading or unloading filament and then push it back out of the way when in use. This might be a good one for me to figure out how to get up on Maker World. submitted by /u/dooghan to r/BambuLabA1 [link] [comments]

My Retro Futurism Game Room
I was told to post this here lol. 30M For a lot more pics and notes, check out the Imgur link: https://imgur.com/a/CERyNtr I’m very excited to show my new game room/Nerd Cave. My wife and I moved into a new home 1 year ago and have been renovating it since. We’re just about done, including the basement which I call The Game Bunker lol. There are a few pieces of trim left, a door to put on, a PVM to set up, some console hook ups to complete and wall art to go up. The design is inspired by the old retro-futurism shows, movies and products, MCM Architecture think like jetsons, James Bond 60’s villain set pieces, Star Trek TOS. Lots of colour in the pieces themselves, strange shapes, lots of angles, floating furniture/floating TV’s etc. I have the room set into 3 different areas, however there are no doors. Area 1: Board Game/Table Top area. This is where all my board game playing happens. Area 2: TV Rooms. This is where I watch movies or epic shows as well as all my modern gaming happens. We have two TV’s set up here for both me and my wife to play at the same time, especially Fortnite lol 😂 Area 3: The collection vault. This is where 90% of my game collection is and all my retro gaming happens on my CRT’s/PVM’S. submitted by /u/Retro_Gamer_Zombie to r/malelivingspace [link] [comments]

Wall mount for TV says up to 56 inches online, but max weight load is high (100 pounds) Which should I pay more attention to?
I just bought a house with a DX TVM113 wall mount, which is about 5 years old. Online, it says that it is designed for TVs up to 56 inches. On the side of the mount it lists a max weight load of 100 pounds. Since TVs are getting lighter, would it be safe to mount a 75 inch TV on this mount, as long as the weight is below 100 pounds? It seems like most 75 inch TVs on the market are around or below that limit. submitted by /u/DaweiArch to r/DIY [link] [comments]
