Bathroom Remodel Complete!
I posted a few months ago on some ideas for my bathroom remodel! Happy to say that my bathroom remodel is complete (just need to adjust wiring switches for my lights). Also went ahead and installed my bidet today, cause why not 😂 I didn't realize my original photos don't show my lighting upgrades! I added a recessed light above the shower and a Kohler ATMOS light/exhaust fan combo above the toilet. Why does a tiny bathroom remodel cost as much as a car now? Am I missing something? 😅
I'm planning to remodel my bathroom around 5x7 or 6x8 with basic updates like shower, tiles, and fixtures, nothing high-end or complex, but the quotes I’m getting are between $15K and $30K+ which feels way higher than expected for such a small space. I understand costs have gone up, but is this just the new normal now or am I missing something when it comes to pricing and scope? submitted by /u/midasweb to r/HomeImprovement [link] [comments]

I remodelled my girlfriend's bathroom because of failed waterproofing
(EDIT: please excuse some of the weird AI blurriness around the bottom edges of some pics: I shot these with a super wide 10mm lens with terrible sensor crop/vignetting, and I used photoshops refill feature to try clean up the corners, but I just realised it's left some ugly AI-looking funkiness on the very corners) (2nd EDIT: the hole in the ceiling above the shower is for a skylight, I'll install that and finish off the plastering once my partner's bank account recovers from the bathtub purchase. My Girlfriend recently bought her first home; A mid-2000s developer build in Pascoe Vale. Unfortunately, as expected of these kinds of builds in Australia; there was significant water damage due to failed waterproofing in the upstairs shower. This was, however, a good excuse to redo the bathroom for her and get rid of the grey floor tiles, grey wall tiles, grey vanity, and all other depressing mid-2000s developer-build stylings. She also wanted a bathtub, and a frameless shower. The existing bathroom wasn't big enough to achieve this, so I moved some walls and claimed space from an adjoining linen closet for the shower recess. I also had to do some tricky stuff with raising and lowering parts of the floor (difficult because of the truss beam system) to create the appropriate drop for the screed, to accommodate the threshold-less shower. (I did like 6 coats of waterproofing, above and below screed, used the most expensive bond-breaker tape I could source etc. because I did NOT want this bathroom to leak again!). She wanted a timber vanity. We discovered nice timber vanities are insanely expensive. So I built the vanity myself out of some cheap tassie-oak panels from Bunnings. I was very happy with how well that came up. My friends Milwaukee tracksaw made that very easy to do. I also dropped the ceiling by 45mm to create a recessed led "halo" light as the main lighting, which turned out really nice. My partner wanted a clear bathtub because she's a pervert (I'm currently refusing to bath in it for fear of being ogled and objectified). Oh; she would also like it known that she bought this bathtub BEFORE it was featured on The Block. She was not happy when it appeared on the block. (I think she wanted to order her tub, then the supply company go out of business, so she was the only person in Australia to have a clear resin bathtub). It looks fabulous, but it was monstrously difficult to silicone in place due to the caustic effect of the clear resin visually magnifying and emphasising the silicone bead from every angle inside and outside (And also I am not very good at siliconing). The total cost of this renovation was about $12k I think. It took me about 3 months, after work each day and on weekends. (although the amount of tiling here almost killed me). The main costs was the bathtub ($5k), and the bath faucet at ($1.1k), and my mental sanity & hairline (priceless). submitted by /u/khdownes to r/AusRenovation [link] [comments]

Just finished remodeling bathroom and discovered this
Finally, after a month of working on my first DIY total bathroom remodel, our shower door (what I've been calling "the final boss") was finally delivered. I spent morning installing the header pole to the perfect location, only to discover while dry fitting the fixed glass panel, that it will not work with our wall. Apparently somewhere along the line the wall and the curb have come out of level and I don't know what, if anything can be done to fix this. My wife and I are devastated! We'l really don't want to have to use a framed glass shower door, or even worse, a shower curtain. Take look at how far off this is in the photos. Ps. It's just the wall on the fixed panel side. The other wall where the door will sit against is perfect. submitted by /u/EasyReport6959 to r/DIY [link] [comments]

Tastefully remodeling this bathroom
My wife wants to tear out this guest bathroom. I really dig it and am trying to convince her to at least salvage some of the art deco fixtures. She wants a new contemporary three piece instead of the four with large format tiles, a double shower stall surrounded by glass, and a waterfall sink. She says she wants a classic look and the bathroom as it exists looks dated. The entire house is a century house that has been immaculately kept and she’s really giving me a hard time. I already had to toss the chestnut passage doors in a dumpster and install a double sided gas fireplace where the old dumb waiter was. submitted by /u/Temporary-Basil-3030 to r/vintage [link] [comments]

Remodel of our century bathroom!
It took nearly a year and a half! But I finally put the last pieces in place today (trim around the built in cabinet). Our house was built in 1918 and we wanted to take inspiration from that time period. I included a photo from the realtors listing of the home and one of my husband during demo day. I couldn’t find any other good pictures of what it looked like before. The biggest change came from tearing out the huge vanity and replacing it with a small console sink, then we opened up the wall to create built-in shelves. This opened up the tiny room so much without sacrificing storage space. It’s all DIY so there is plenty of… character haha! But I am thrilled with the results. submitted by /u/gggvuv7bubuvu to r/BathroomRemodeling [link] [comments]

Almost done with my bathroom remodel, how did I do?
The bathroom was GROSS. Tile broken, mold, layers of dirt and grime that were like concrete. The entire bathroom needed to be gutted. The only thing that remains from the original bathroom is the toilet and the cast iron tub. The tub needs re glazing but I couldn't get another tiny tub that would fit in the space without spending thousands so I'm making it work. Still have to paint the new door for the new bathroom closet and waiting for the hinges to come in but overall it's almost done! submitted by /u/Intelligent-Deal2449 to r/centuryhomes [link] [comments]

New Home Bathroom Remodel
Hi everybody, I’m hoping to get some opinions on a bathroom remodel in our just purchased first home. I’ve asked chatgpt to render the two options as I’m in a creative/practical conundrum on which direction to go. Advice or a clear winner in your opinion would be awesome! Constraints/Considerations: 1. We refinished the cast iron tub professionally, but it’s a longer than standard 66”. This is making it difficult to find a glass slider tub door. 30” standard depth though. 2. We purchased tile and it’s the 2.5”x8” Bedrosians Cloe in green. We’re gonna lay it stacked vertically. 3. Rough plumbing has been completed and the final fixtures will be Delta’s champagne bronze (spout, handheld, and shower head with a separate diverter valve above the mixing valve). 4. Total bathroom size is 60ish square feet so not huge. 5. We’re installing a niche on the wall to the right. 6. Vanity will eventually be a light natural wood finish. Pic 1: original tub surround before demo. Pic 2: chatgpt generated version if we kept the walls as is. Ignore the toilet and cgi weirdness of the fixtures. Niche should be on the short wall to the right. Pic 3: We add an arch to the tub entry. Same cgi issues as above. Note - Adding an arch would take a little more time, but allow us to fit a standard 60” door in the opening with wall bump outs on both sides. I welcome all feedback. submitted by /u/t12ix7er to r/InteriorDesign [link] [comments]
