I'm an idiot, I know. I wanted to deep clean a bath mat, so I filled the tub with warm water, dumped in some Dawn Powerwash, Pine-Sol, a splash of white vinegar, and a slightly bigger splash of bleach. Let the mat soak maybe 15-30 minutes. Pulled the mat out (it's fine, still good as new), but the tub now has a bright yellow stain all around it. What happened exactly and how do I fix it? I love cleaning. As a result I have a few favorites I have come to love over the years. Well, this year, due to not having the money to do home improvements, we don’t visit Home Depot that often anymore. I decided to start ordering my cleaning supplies from Amazon, as they do have some bulk sizes. This was a big mistake. As I said, I know my cleaning supplies. Well, the last three times I’ve ordered them off of Amazon, someone has basically stolen or altered the product somewhere along the way. For example, I love the Lysol oxi action all purpose cleaners. I usually get the citrus sparkle lemon zest scent. The last two times I ordered this from Amazon, it was replaced with rancid used solution that smelled horrible. Today was the last straw. I ordered a gallon bottle of Clorox urine remover. This cleaner is expensive but good. It is an enzymatic and denaturing solution. It was not sealed (had been opened), missing solution, and was diluted with some sort of cheap floral scented cleaner. This cleaner has a burnt smell to it, as when applied it denatures proteins on the cleaning surface. It doesn’t smell like roses. It has a slight burnt hair smell. I am so mad I will be reaching out to Lysol, Clorox, and Amazon all simultaneously. This is internal theft and should be dealt with. I recommend not buying any cleaning supplies off of Amazon. Furthermore, we need class solidarity. Stop hurting each other by stealing from your fellow workers. I consider these thieving Amazon workers class traitors. Amazon has a problem with someone along the chain stealing cleaning supplies, and they think they are smart, but the products they are stealing are typically used by cleaning services for their effectiveness and anyone who uses them regularly can tell the difference. I’ll admit, I’m not the best housekeeper. I’ve been spoiled by weekly housekeeping service but in this economy we have decided to clean our own home. Two adults and two large shedding and occasionally muddy paw dogs. So far we got an iRobot that both vacuums and mops and it’s been great but need help with what to buy to clean the rest of the house, especially bathrooms. I've hired in the past but it is now just me and I am getting out of the industry. So here is a list of what I use for anyone looking to start a cleaning company and may find it helpful. I tried my best to not name many brands, but with some products, it was necessary. **No products that contain bleach-**Accidents happen, don't use it Proteam 6 qt backpack vacuum-works amazing on hard floors but is only ok on carpet. I bought a brushroll attachment but even that doesn't help much. Shark vacuums also come highly recommended and is what I use in my own house. **24 ft extending duster-**with washable heads! More economical and ecological. I've found most of the bendable heads that come with the poles break but the best bendable duster heads I bought came from DirectMopSales. I bought the pole from amazon, the replaceable heads from the website mentioned. **Mop and bucket-**I use and love the buckets with 2 compartments. One is a "wet" side and the other is a "dry" side for wringing out. It is usually a 13in microiber mop with washable heads. Would HIGHLY recommend this! **Reusable shoe covers-**Again, more economical and ecological. Clients love shoe covers and many would require them anyways Garbage bags-4 gallon, 8 gallon, 13 gallon are all must haves. I also have 1 33 gallon bag in my car just in case someone has one of those. Step Ladder-most insurance companies will only cover you if you're about a foot or two off the ground so only have a 2-step step ladder **Microfiber cloths-**Different colors: yellow (bathroom), green (kitchen), blue (basically everywhere else), if you really want to go above and beyond you can do red as the toilet **Cleaning caddy-**people love the husky cleaning caddy but I just have a cheap one from walmart that does everything I need it to **Odoban-**concentate disinfectant is super cheap per bottle **Zep floor cleaner-**Only a little splash in the bucket then dilute with water. Does a great job. Don't use Bona, it will leave streaks! Blue scrubbing pads- great for bathroom glass showers, chrome, or glass kitchen tops (all of these with Bar Keeper's Friend/ or comet as long as the powder doesn't have bleach). **Bar keepers friend-**again any brand will probably work but don't get anything with bleach. Fairly good for toilet bowls too **No products that contain bleach-**seriously, don't do it **Scrubbing bubbles-**doesn't have to be name brand, they all work pretty well. I prefer non-aerosol because you get every last bit out of the container without gassing yourself out in a confined space like a shower. Magic erasers-you can get offbrand magic erasers insanely cheap on ebay. They crumble a little bit more than the name brand but utility-per-dollar is so much better. **A penny-**If there is a ton of buildup around a faucet or something I use a penny to scratch off most of the buildup but still might leave a little to make sure I don't scratch the counter **Bottle of water-**it is Sweaty Startup after all, hydrate! **Spray bottle of water-**dusting **Spray bottle of windex-**I don't use the default bottle because those leak a ton. Off-brand product works well too. I've found the ammonia free products to not do a great job though **Clorox toilet wand-**I haven't tried other brands but like the clorox product for this. I only use this when people don't have a toilet brush. **Paper towels-**necessary if cleaning ovens and nice to have on super dirty houses on the deep clean **0000 steel wool-**Get the name brand! the knock offs really aren't as good. Good for cleaning ovens. **Blue oven cleaner-**blue is apparently ok to use on self cleaning ovens. I've never seen much of a difference between the blue and the yellow (heavy duty) oven cleaner. If it is a self-cleaning oven have them run the self-cleaning cycle the night before you come. You will probably only have to wipe away ash. Easy money! **Steam cleaner-**this is AMAZING for refrigerator/freezer cleanouts. Not necessary for anything else though Reusable cloth bag-to carry clean cloths in and around house. I also use a second one to put the dirty cloths in as I go. **Putty knife-**sometimes on deep cleans or move outs you have to take some melted candy or similar stuff off a surface. I've only used it about twice in 3 years. **Scrub brush-**for tubs Stainless steel cleaner Nitrile Gloves ​ ​ And I think that's just about everything. Oh wait! No products that contain bleach!
