I filled up this freezer in the last 4 days to survive summer.
It hasn’t been organized yet, and I still need to get bins and all that but it’s in there. I had to add stuff as it became available to make room for more stuff to cool in the fridge. I have 4 more main meals to cook in the crock pot and a couple breakfast items + ramen base kits to prep but I’m worn out at the moment. I’m starting 3rd semester of nursing school and it’s the same amount of work as a regular semester but in 10 weeks. I didn’t want to have to think about cooking on clinical days and wanted to make sure my family had good food, and that my husband had breakfast for his 24 hour shifts and the morning after. This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever tackled. The planning, researching, logistics of cooking and packaging and labeling. The cooling and food safety and operating out of a small kitchen. Happy to answer any questions! I cooked over 14lbs of ground beef, 18lbs of chicken, 6lbs of sausage, 2lbs of bacon. 60 eggs….. In the freezer so far is: Million dollar chicken Chicken Tetrazzini Baked Ziti Taco Casserole Shepherd’s Pie Stuffed Pepper Casserole White Chicken Chili BBQ Pulled Chicken Regular Chili Butter Chicken individual Rice Servings Enchiladas Breakfast Casserole 18 Breakfast Sandwiches (half bacon half sausage) 20 Sausage Breakfast Burritos with egg and bell peppers/onions 10 pbj uncrustables (these are homemade, not store bought, I did not remove the plastic from store bought and put in ziploc bags lol) 20 pieces of French Toast I’m tired. I’ll cry if the power goes out lol but oh well I tried anyway. EDIT: added 8 omelettes with bacon on the side, crack chicken, and buffalo chicken for sliders today. 5 dozen muffins coming up tomorrow and crockpot lasagna 😂 I’m making a double pumpkin muffin batch, blueberry, apple cinnamon, lemon ginger zest, oh yeah and chocolate zucchini muffins so maybe just a single pumpkin batch. EDIT 2: Lasagna in the crockpot, finished chocolate zucchini muffins and pumpkin oat muffins. Have to take a break. Gonna try to knock out the ramen base and whatever other easy crockpot recipe I have this afternoon. All of my ingredients I bought are being used and that makes me happy. EDIT 3: just commented an updated more organized pic.. still cooking.. EDIT 4: to the person who said it was “slop looking food” and the other guy who simply said “gross”, you can’t even see the food I cooked. Y’all are just mad you don’t have this level of discipline and executive function lol 😂 Also the lemon ginger muffins were the most heavenly smelling thing I cooked of all. EDIT 5: Bluetooth sensor arrived today for temp management. Adding frozen water jugs and ice packs to the bottom. I’ve finished almost everything on my list except this Bundt cake sandwich ring. I’ll probably still do a crockpot meal a day to add small things just for peace of mind but I am officially DONE with the major hands on cooking. Thank you everyone for the massive amount of support!!!! submitted by /u/a-light-at-the-end to r/mealprep [link] [comments]

Fridge Organization.
I'm in process of fridge/freezer organizing. I have made it so the majority of the items are in clear trays. This way, I can pull out a whole row to get to what in the back, instead of awkwardly moving things around. I got the Zwilling vacuum containers with bag set. I have been vacuum sealing everything to make extra room and extend the life of the food. I have been using the Zwilling app to catalog everything in my fridge as it now goes in. submitted by /u/TheCunningLinguist1 to r/organizing [link] [comments]

Fridge Organization Help: Which Containers Work for You?
I’m getting a new fridge and I want to start fresh by keeping it organized from day one. There are so many different containers out there: bins, drawers, stackables, glass, plastic, and I don’t want to end up with a bunch of random stuff that never gets used. What containers, bins, or organizers do you actually find useful in your fridge? I definitely like clear bins so I can see everything. Any brands or shapes that work especially well for produce, snacks, condiments, or drinks? If you had to recommend your favorite fridge organization setup, what would it be? submitted by /u/Dadpod12 to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Organizing the fridge before grocery shopping is a game changer
I normally buy groceries on the weekend and organize the fridge when I get home to sort out where to put the new stuff. Today I switched the order and wow! After organizing and chopping/prepping the remaining produce, we still had a whole fridge of food. We them decided not to go grocery shopping at all this week. Just saved tons of money and food waste. It was a total game changer! Curious if others do this and if it consistently works for you or if it was just a fluke this week. submitted by /u/cassidy2202 to r/Anticonsumption [link] [comments]

My OCD brother thinks our fridge needs to be 20 inches away from the wall.
My brother (who has mild OCD that's making him do this) thinks the coils on the back of our fridge need all this room to dissipate waste heat. I'm so tired of debating him on this, so I just let him have his way. P.S. My cat is a messy eater, I'll clean up the cat food on the floor in a bit. (Hopefully, after I negotiate a 8-inch maximum space for the fridge pushed away from the wall...) P.S.S. Obsessive compulsive disorder is not "clean freak" issues. It's a compulsion to have or do things a certain way, such as locking and unlocking your front door 5+ times when leaving the house, or only being being able to leave a room after touching the light switch 4-times. OCD literally has nothing to do cleanliness or organization. Thankfully, in my brother's case, most of his OCD habits aren't quite this bad. submitted by /u/Brian_The_Bar-Brian to r/mildlyinfuriating [link] [comments]

My wife was left alone for 3 weeks and I wish she’d just cheated instead. Am I Under Reacting?
My wife was left alone for 3 weeks and I wish she’d just cheated instead. Three weeks ago, I left for a work trip to Germany. My wife didn’t want to come. “I’ll hang back, water the plants, binge some Netflix,” she said. She’s 39. I thought, “Okay, she’s a grown adult. She’ll be fine.” She was not fine. Day 2, she tries to make sourdough from scratch using a YouTube video and what she thought was yeast but turned out to be Epsom salt. The result: a rock-hard bread grenade that cracked our marble counter. She named it “Crumbzilla” and displayed it like a trophy. Then, she decided to go “all raw vegan” for some reason and ordered 19 pounds of produce from a sketchy organic site. Half of it arrived moldy. The other half, she juiced. Exclusively. For a week. Just juice. No solids. She got so dizzy she mistook the laundry hamper for the fridge and put all our frozen meals in it. They’ve since liquefied. To survive, she pivoted to eating Pop-Tarts and spoonfuls of peanut butter. Her justification: “Balance.” Meanwhile, she stopped wearing actual clothes. Just bathrobes. The same one, every day. By week two it was 70% robe, 30% soup stains. The dog refused to cuddle her. Last night, I land, exhausted, and I’m greeted by a living room that smells like fermented ginger and regret. She runs to hug me—robe flapping open, holding a jar of pickles in one hand and a half-knitted scarf in the other. Apparently, she took up knitting to “relax her stomach.” This morning, I wake up to her whispering “I think I’m a kombucha now” and burping in her sleep. The dog has moved his bed into the bathroom and won’t make eye contact with either of us. I grabbed my keys and said I was going out for coffee. The dog followed. He needed air. I needed therapy. So here I am at a café with a silent, traumatized schnauzer, drinking espresso like it’s holy water. The barista asked if I wanted oat milk. I said no, because my trauma already comes in liquid form. Hope your morning’s less... fermented. EDIT: To those raising eyebrows in the comments—hey, fair enough. Humor’s subjective. It’s a story. No kombucha was harmed, no souls were actually fermented, and yes, the dog is emotionally recovering with the help of peanut butter and a weighted blanket. The relationship is fine. The only thing that truly suffered was the fish’s dignity. This isn’t a manifesto. It’s satire. If you made it all the way to the part about vegan hotdog shakes and still thought this was a cry for help instead of a comedy-horror spiral, then I truly admire your commitment to missing the point. To everyone else who laughed, side-eyed their own bathrobe, and gave their pets a reassuring pat—thank you. You're the reason the fish hasn’t completely given up. Yet. submitted by /u/Moriloqui to r/stories [link] [comments]

fridge organization pisses me off
That’s all I have to say. The little clear plastic containers with their little labels to put the packaged food in. Little clear containers for produce that aren’t designed to accommodate that specific produce’s needs for storage by altering humidity but just meant to be “aesthetically clean.” I hate it. Pisses me off endlessly. It’s just overconsumption being sold as organization. You’re in heaven I can’t breathe. Where do you even put leftovers in this? No section for raw meats? Having to clean out and organize your pantry and fridge is totally normal right?
I only ask this because I was expressing frustration with my bf that he never helps clean out the pantry or fridge. He said the reason he doesn't is because the only reason they need to be cleaning out and organized is because I buy too much food and don't eat it all. He thinks not normal to do this every few months. But I argue it's perfectly normal and is just part of having a kitchen and cooking. Like sometimes you don't use up every bit of everything you buy so there's leftover or you get given things you don't end up using. Our pantry isn't even all that big and I tend to be good about only buying what I need but every few months it still good to go through everything and make sure it's still good and sometimes you find things you didn't remember having and you cook something with it you haven't in a while. Like that's normal right? Edit: According to the comments it is normal to do a basic clean out of your pantry, never, every shopping trip, every month, few times a year and once a year. I would like to clarify my bf thinks the pantry should never be cleaned out, not even dusted. You guys seems to think I'm putting everything out and doing a total clean out, I'm not, simply glancing over things to make sure nothing is expired, like one or two things will be and moving a few things around so its easier to see what's on the shelves. It takes about 15 minutes. I still think its reasonable for the average person to do a small clean out of their pantry every few months and until my bf takes over the cooking then this is how I will continue to operate. submitted by /u/LycheePlus to r/Cooking [link] [comments]
