Not walking yet!
My little girl will be 17 months tomorrow. She is not walking independently yet. She will cruise around furniture but wont walk independently yet. I think she’s nervous. When I try to let go of one hand she lowers herself back down. I keep trying but when I push too much she gets frustrated. Anyone else dealing with this or know of anything I can try to help?

Filled out medical form for relative’s appointment. Moved out a piece of furniture we’re scuttling. Moved over another to make room for its mate (currently in car). Discovered yet another piece I’d forgotten—going to get rid of this one, too. Cleaned up years’ worth of dust from this area. Wow.

Does quality furniture still exist?
Help! I’ve fallen in love with this couch and we need to break up. Back story: I currently have a similar looking sectional from Ashley Furniture. It’s horrible. The fabric pills terribly and despite paying for a 3 year warranty, they refuse to replace or repair even the cushion covers. Currently: Now that you are familiar with my PTSD, I need a new couch. I’ve spent hours researching brands, styles, washables, etc and it seems like there’s a catch with everything. PB: obsessed but bad customer service reviews Crate & Barrel: good options but not good reviews Six Penny: looks cheap to me Joybird: not good styles Article: bad reviews HELP! I’m willing to spend whatever it takes to get what I want as long as it lasts. I feel like my grandparents had the same couch for 25 years and it never looked bad??!! submitted by /u/NoDeparture9288 to r/interiordecorating [link] [comments]

What is the most unique decor or furniture in your house?
I absolutely love unique pieces and I’d love to see what everyone has! I love when my furniture has character I’ve looked online for inspo but of course when you’re looking for unique stuff you’re flooded with ai creations so I want to see what real people have 😅 My contribution to the discussion is this fun Getseun chair, the design was inspired by a lily and I find her so fun and charming! I “miscanned” a recliner at a furniture store sale.
There was a huge sale at this furniture store. I had saved up some to finally get some stuff for my place. I misjudged how expensive things can be and I really wanted this rocker for the nursery. When I took the sale tags up to the register, it was in the stack and didn’t get rung up. At the loading dock they put it in my car and I didn’t correct them. I got a 400$ chair for free. I’m so worried they’ll come after me I don’t know if I should go back once I get the money or just pretend it’s okay. For clarification, I had saved up for a dining table and a chair/loveseat. This was just an extra I had maybe wanted to get. UPDATE: I went back and offered to pay for the chair. I did play dumb a little mentioning how I got home and noticed the receipt didn’t match. They said I was so sweet for coming back and offering to pay for it that they took half off and I only had to pay $200. No one was fired and they just seemed happy I came back. submitted by /u/Melotail to r/confession [link] [comments]

Clown Furniture. I accidently made clown furniture.
I am sitting here contemplating every bad decision I ever made that lead to this moment. So, my son asked for a specialty built table for Christmas that would support his computer on a swing arm so he could work lying down (long story involving some sensory issues he has.) I never work from plans, and thought a walnut table with red oak inlays would look pretty good. I also figured three oak inlayed drawers would be a nice touch. HOURS of work later, I added the knobs for the drawers for the final touch. And realized I made clown furniture. Oh well, it'll always be one-of-a-kind. submitted by /u/Devseanschin to r/woodworking [link] [comments]

Where are you all buying furniture?
Moving to a new place soon and need to pretty much buy/upgrade everything: dining table, sectional, coffee table, futon, bar stools…What are some stores (online or with store fronts) where I can find some “moderately priced” pieces….thinking more expensive than IKEA but cheaper than Pottery Barn. This is the first time I’m buying furniture since I’m moved into a grad student apartment so I’d like to invest in some “adult” pieces that I can enjoy for a bit but won’t be anxious about with a toddler doing parkour on them. I like the modern/industrial/a little gothic dark browns natural wood brick orange rod iron accents look submitted by /u/Affectionate_Mess488 to r/interiordecorating [link] [comments]

Where are we buying decent furniture?
Went to Furniture Row today - the quality was abysmal, all bed frames were pressed wood for $1500+ - they’ve stooped to American Furniture Warehouse level quality (shoutout to le tariffs). I don’t really want to spend the Crate & Barrel or RH price tag for decent quality and aesthetics with the name brand mark up, but I’m willing to pay for something to last the test of time. Ashley Furniture Fired Me For Making Joke
Ashley Furniture, global furniture store based out of Wisconsin, fired me after finding my TikTok making a joke about the Charlie Kirk assassination. I was in IT and the head of IT is the founders grandson Cameron Wanek. I’m not sure who asked to fire me but HR said it came from way up top. I decided to email Cameron and see if this #IAmCharlie nonsense has any weight to it. I doubt it will get a response, but I think my argument is quite sound. I bought furniture off aliexpress
I initially made an order for furniture from a not so reputable store on aliexpress. They asked for more money through messages, which rung some alarm bells, so I cancelled the order. A few months later, a big sale came up and I rather foolishly reordered the furniture. This time I chose not to message the seller in case they try to ask for more money again. I started regretting it since I thought they were a scammer store, but to my surprise they provided pictures of the item before shipping, as well as a tracking number and the name of the ship it was on. From 6.5 weeks of ordering, it arrived on my doorstep to Australia and I’m one happy customer! submitted by /u/i-love-paper to r/Aliexpress [link] [comments]

Never Buy New Furniture
I have been buying old furniture and flipping it as a side-hustle for a decade and if there was a PSA announcement I could give all my friends and family would be to NEVER buy new furniture. The stuff that you find today, even at the "fancy" places like West Elm, Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel, are all made really cheaply. Maybe SOME of the parts are made out of wood but most of the piece is made out of plywood and MFD. What this means is that when your furniture gets a dig or a water mark on the very thin veneer there is no way to get rid of that. Its damaged for ever. Plus the piece will be prone to breaking completely. ALMOST no companies out there are making furniture like they use to pre- 1970's. Before the 1970's furniture was made out of solid wood with dovetail joints. If you got a dig or a scratch on your furniture you could sand it and reseal it. Plus these vintage/antique piecers are basically iindestructible. The good news is that people are basically giving quality pieces that will last another 50-100 years away. I have seen so many beautiful tiger oak dressers made in the late 1800's and early 1900's sell for $100! I mean look at this desk probably made in the late 1940's to early 1950's. Its in amazing condition, its built like a tank and costs LESS than a cheap desk from Ikea. https://preview.redd.it/edcnunc7ipld1.png?width=634&format=png&auto=webp&s=db6920bda473f25ad0697283865c3bf69540f287 submitted by /u/evawithcats to r/BuyItForLife [link] [comments]

Who makes non-crappy furniture these days?
Is there any brand out there currently selling attractive non-luxury furniture you can count on not to fall apart in 6 months? Getting great room ideas in this sub, but so frustrated trying to buy couches, dressers, etc since quality seems to have taken such a nose dive & you can't trust any brands these days. For ex., my sister got a Jasper sectional from Room & Board 8 years ago that's still awesome. But when I check out reviews from 2021-2023 everyone's saying "I bought my Jasper 5-8 yea ago & it's great shape, so I just bought another one - which pilled, faded, sagged etc within 6 months." Same with reviews for Article & Joybird couches. For dressers, you used to be able to count on Ikea's Malm line, but now all the review are the same story: "my last Malm lasted 10 years, new one's drawers won't open, wood breaking within 3 months, etc." I just want to spend a reasonable amount for functional non-ugly furniture, but it seems like even previously trustworthy brands are crap these days. Can anyone vouch for a brand that still works? Edited to add: I don't want to spend $20K to furnish a small non-forever-home condo, yet seems like these days my other option is to spend $8K to have everything look like crap less than a year in. For ex., was hoping to spend no more than $3K on a couch (so super disappointed to see the great Jasper's quality now sucks apparently), no more than $300-$500 on a dresser (seems that's impossible for a dresser that works -- cheapest one I've found with consistent good reviews is $1100, and many at that price at all brands still have tons of reviews pointing out design flaws). Like, I see cute stuff from "good" brands (i.e. not crappy West Elm) in the price range I want but when you dig into the reviews they're a horror show. But then even looking higher than those price ranges, at formerly trustworthy non-luxury/non-heirloom brands, the recent reviews still all share the same story of the stuff sagging, chipping, wearing, pilling, fading unevenly, breaking after like 6 months 😩😡😭 submitted by /u/Getadocasap22 to r/DesignMyRoom [link] [comments]
