We moved into this unit recently and it's quite dated and full of "character" lol. We have no idea what this small container thing is in the kitchen sink. It appears to be rubber and there is no drainage hole at the bottom. We don't know what the use of it would be and wish it wasn't there so the sinks could be bigger lol. Growing up I believed a “garbage disposal” and dishwasher were essential for all kitchens. You peel potatoes or vegetables, put all your food scraps in it so you don’t have smelly trash. Then the dishes go in the dishwasher after a rinse. I actually hate this thing—I haven’t used one in over 5 years and no longer have frequent plumbing clogs. I no longer use a dishwasher either, I clear my plate into the trash, compost my fresh veggie scraps including peels, and use a low-water method for handwashing. We finally finished our remodel and I really like the look. Unfortunately I hate cleaning this thing. If you peel a carrot all the peels get tangled up in the rack. It’s flat on the bottom and after rinsing plates I have to chase the food detritus around the sink to get it to go down the disposal. The straight edges & corners collect grime and the underside of the rack attracts grease which in turn collects crud and coffee grounds - at least once a week it wants me to use a pile of Barkeepers Friend and a half hour of detail cleaning in the corners with various implements. TLDR it’s pretty but it gets gross fast and is a giant pain to clean. My husband and I would like to replace our double bowl sink with a single bowl sink of the same size (so a large 33” sink with one opening). The double bowl sink has been solid, and has lasted a long time. I ask this because it seems like all of the most popular kitchen sink and vanilla+ modpacks (anything non themed) are getting insane amounts of hate. ATM gets hated on because of its poor design choices. SHXRKIE's packs get hated on for the same reasons and people seem to also hate the developers behind them specifically for some reason i don't know too much about. Lunapixel gets the same treatment. Enigmatica has great design but seems to be stretched thin over way too many modpacks with a dev team that isn't big enough to handle them all. There doesn't seem to be a proper Enigmatica pack since Enigmatica 6, which wasn't universally liked either. The only major kitchen sink modpack series i haven't seen people complain about, but i haven't seen people praise either, is Valhelsia. Personally i have little experience with it, and i'm looking into trying out Valhelsia 5 right now (unless anyone has any recommendations for better modern kitchen sink packs?) And that covers pretty much all major modern kitchen sink modpacks that aren't heavily themed. So, what's the deal with this mess? Has the minecraft modding scene just become a game of marketing? Are there still good kitchen sink modpacks? I'd love to hear y'all's thoughts on this. P.S. The reason i'm questioning this is because i'm looking for a kitchen sink modpack to play with friends. It needs to have the usual mix of tech, magic and exploration while also being relatively lightweight. We played ATM 9 no frills, which is great performance-wise, but leaves much to be desired content-wise. So we have a 4 pound chihuahua. We also have 4 full bathrooms in our house. We were discussing giving the dogs a bath and a walk. My wife suggested that we can wash romeo in the kitchen sink because he is so small. I said that's disgusting because our dishes go into that sink and food related products. She disagrees. I said dude if I ask reddit you're going to be roasted lol I will not wash a dog in the kitchen sink. AiTAH? EDIT: we are a lesbian couple.
