I would like to do an accent wall in this bathroom with peel and stick wallpaper. Yes, I was actually looking at that because I had changed my interior style to a more contemporary (sort of) sleek lines and simple designs. I found some peel and stick wallpaper that I thought would look good in the downstairs bath but I likely couldn’t put it up straight either. Oh my gosh! I’ve never felt so bad and am going to be out so much money for my stupid, idiotic desire to revamp my bedroom in my rented apartment! I hired a professional that does nothing but wallpaper and this poor lady has been here going on 6 hours for one accent wall (granted it’s 11.5 feet high and we did have a bit of a delay where she brought too short of a ladder). It looks great so far and I’ll be sure to upload a photo later. I just fed her a protein bar as she wants to get done and doesn’t want real food but I know she’s starving. The worst is I did not do my research until after buying it and I even accidentally got a sample of the real stuff and it was so much more luxurious and all the professionals I called either refused to do peel and stick or wanted to charge double for install. Couldn’t exchange or return so just moved forward with what I have. This installer was semi reasonable but god knows what I’ll tip because this has been hell for her. Needless to say I’ll now never move and really should have done full on wallpaper or bought some art and a plant and called it a day. So for anyone wanting to remodel — wallpaper is expensive as hell and not for the rental community and professionals want the real stuff and it would take half the time. Politics have made me stress design and I’m full of regret. I still need to remove the rest of the wallpaper at the top, but please help me. I’m 26F and have no clue what I’m doing and can’t pay someone $500+ to get this fixed. There’s lots of leftover paint chips on the wall so I’m worried about repainting straight over it. Will sanding a bit and adding a primer work to smooth this out? 😭 EDIT: Y'all, I realized there was lots of confusion here. The wall was painted before and my roommate and I put up the wallpaper ourselves. The issue was that when we took the wallpaper off, it ripped off all the paint. I’m trying to put peel and stick wallpaper on the bathroom walls of my cottage bathroom. I pulled off the ancient previous wallpaper as best as I could, but there’s some spots where it’s impossible to get off without damaging the wall. And there’s also this sticky residue stuck in some places. So the new peel and stick won’t stick. It’s either that or the humidity? Someone suggested sanding it and priming it? Would that work? Is there any sort of very very thin wood/material that I could nail down over these wood walls so that then the peel and stick would stick? Kitchen is still a work in progress, I just installed the peel & stick backsplash and tiles. Entryway will be getting tiger print wallpaper on the ceiling and a new light this month. Hi all, I am looking to wallpaper my entire bedroom. I am probably going to be doing it myself, so I figured peel and stick would be easiest for a solo job. I was initially looking at Spoonflower, but it was going to cost me nearly $3000 😱. I know there are cheaper options out there but a lot of the reviews for them complain of shrinkage, pattern line-up issues, etc. Does anyone have any recs for more affordable peel and stick wallpaper that they can vouch for? Or do I just need to spend the big bucks? OR should I opt for prepasted/traditional instead?? Any advice would be appreciated! I’d love to hear people’s tips and would appreciate if people could tell me which of the tips I’ve read about are worth the time. I bought a Wall26 mural to hang on a smooth bedroom wall that was painted with an eggshell finish paint 4 years ago. The ceiling of the room is textured. I have a tiny 10 inch level, and when I ran that along where the walls corners/wall/ceiling meet, the bubble was between the two lines although not always exactly in the center. Tips I Am Planning On Using - spend a lot of time getting the first panel perfect since all the other panels will be positioned based on that - start at the top and only take off the backing a little at a time and work my way down - use a squeegee to get it smooth - use a metal yard stick and boxcutter to help trim in a straight line Tips I’m Curious About There are a few tips I am wondering whether or not they’re necessary/worth the time: - Clean wall with isopropyl alcohol - I wiped it down with water and a rag. Is the alcohol necessary? - use a level to draw out where first panel should go to avoid issues from corners that aren’t square (I only have a small level, does this matter?) - leave 1-2 inches of wallpaper at the top and trim so that if the ceiling isn’t square with the wall, it won’t be an issue (seems smart but maybe unnecessary?) - match up pattern then use painters tape to hold up panels while you stick the top of the panel (seems like a great idea as long as it doesn’t damage the wallpaper! Could also maybe do this with all the panels before starting to see if ceiling is square?) Things I Need Tips On - I am extremely nervous about the trimming aspect of this - that’s one reason I’m nervous to leave extra wallpaper at the top. I will definitely need to trim at the bottom and right hand corner. Do I trim before I hang or after? Is a boxcutter the best tool for the job?
