Is Serum Foundation trending?

This is a seasonal trend that peaks every November. The seasonal demand is forecasted to decline over the next year.

Why is Serum Foundation trending?

1
Hydrating Properties
Serum Foundation contains a high concentration of hyaluronic acid, which is a powerful hydrating ingredient that helps to plump and moisturize the skin. This makes it an ideal choice for those with dry or dehydrated skin.
2
Lightweight Formula
Serum Foundation has a lightweight, serum-like texture that feels weightless on the skin. It provides a natural, dewy finish that looks like skin, rather than a heavy, cakey foundation.
3
Anti-Aging Benefits
Many Serum Foundations contain antioxidants and other anti-aging ingredients, such as vitamin C and retinol, which help to protect the skin from environmental damage and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
4
Customizable Coverage
Serum Foundation is buildable, which means you can customize the coverage to your liking. You can apply a thin layer for a sheer, natural look, or layer it for more coverage.
5
Suitable for All Skin Types
Serum Foundation is suitable for all skin types, including sensitive and acne-prone skin. It is non-comedogenic, which means it won't clog pores or cause breakouts.

After/Before Makeup
Been super duper insecure about my skin and face more than usual lately, Just thought i’d share some realness with y’all and show the acne/texture/discolouration I have + uneven face in full HDR, and how it looks with makeup on top…. haaaate the texture around my mouth and nose but trying hard to see past it, no amount of foundation or concealer will hide that. It’s just that time of the month where my skin does what it wants no matter what skincare or makeup I do lol. Also am currently using epiduo gel (differin + benzoyl peroxide) for my acne and that causes some dryness as you can see under my nose…. I’ve been struggling with bad oily/acne prone skin all my life and makeup has helped me feel more confident throughout the years! Here’s the list of products I used for this look: Skin Prep •Geek & Gorgeous stress less serum •Geek & Gorgeous Hydration station moisturiser •Cosrx Ultra-Light invisible sunscreen Base • Estée Lauder double wear - 4W1 • L’oreal true match radiant serum concealer - 4N • Kiko Milano sculpting touch creamy stick contour - 202 (used to shade nose + eyelid + cheekbones) • Sheglam Smart cookie palette (I know it’s eyeshadow but sometimes I use the warm shades as a bronzer don’t come for me) • Nyx butter melt blush - my butta half 01 • Maybelline fit me pressed powder - 120 classic ivory (I use a little to set my concealer with a small brush, then use a big kabuki brush of this wherever I get oily) • I am also using a touch of a matte white highlighter I found on amazon on my nose and under my eyebrows Eyebrows + eyes • Maybelline Super lock brow glue - 000 Clear • Kiko Milano eyebrow marker - 04 • Elf instant lift eyebrow pencil - Deep brown • Kissme Heroine Mascara Waterproof - black • Nyx Epic Ink liner - 01 Black • Kiko Milano Colour Kajal Kohl pencil - 03 (used to highlight inner corners) Lips • Maybelline lifter liner - 05 on it • YSL love shine candy glaze - 03 (just in the middle of bottom lip, then I spread it with my finger all around) • I forgot to add a little moisture to my dry azz lips before taking the pictures but I am also using a touch of Sosu Lip Glaze in Almond Butter! I do still need to buy a highlighter and a proper bronzer, I’ve been eyeing haus labs glassy balm highlighter stick in champagne quartz for the highlighter. Do let me know if you’ve tried this! and recs for bronzer that isn’t too red/orange as well if possible :( EDIT: Just want to note that this is not my daily makeup. It is not the cause of my acne OR making it worse. Makeup when applied properly with the right products will sit just fine on top of it. Besides, I go most days without wearing any at all because i’m a hermit that doesn’t like to leave to house :D and when I do, it depends what situation i’m about to be in and i’ll match my makeup to that. I would wear heavy makeup like this more for a night out, date, if i feel like it or if i’m even bothered. This shit takes at least 40 mins lmao. My go to if I wanna look alive is my eyebrow + eye combo and elf plums up lip tint on my lip and cheek submitted by

I tracked my brain fog for 6 months and tested everything. Here is what actually moved the needle.
Not theory. Not 10 tips for mental clarity. Previous post was removed but I made some edits to ensure it doesn't break any rules. These are the interventions that produced measurable changes in my cognition when I tested them one at a time with a 2 week baseline between each. I used Cambridge Brain Sciences daily at 7am to track working memory, reasoning, and verbal ability. Same time, same conditions, fasted. Here is what actually did something. Tier 1: The stuff that worked immediately and obviously CO2 management. Bought a $40 CO2 monitor. My bedroom was hitting 1,800ppm by 5am with the door closed. A Harvard study showed cognitive scores drop roughly 50% at 1,400ppm compared to 550ppm baseline. I cracked the window 2 inches. Never exceeded 700ppm again. Morning grogginess I had blamed on sleep quality for years was largely gone within 3 days. Cost: $40 once. Morning electrolytes before caffeine. 500ml water with 1/4 tsp salt and a squeeze of lemon within 20 minutes of waking. Before coffee. Before anything. Research shows 1 to 2% dehydration impairs working memory and you will not feel thirsty at that level. After 8 hours of sleeping you are dehydrated. Most people's first move is coffee which is a mild diuretic. You are draining an already dry system. This took 3 days to notice. Working memory scores up about 15% on testing mornings where I did this versus did not. Phone in another room during deep work. Ward et al. 2017 in JACR showed the mere presence of a smartphone on your desk reduces available cognitive capacity even face down and on silent. I tested this for 2 weeks phone on desk versus 2 weeks phone in kitchen. The difference in sustained focus was not subtle. Verbal fluency scores were consistently higher on phone-away days. Tier 2: The stuff that took 2 to 4 weeks but the effect was real Ferritin optimization. Mine was 22. Doctor said normal. It is not normal for brain function. Soppi 2018 showed cognitive symptoms at ferritin 15 to 30 that resolved above 50. I took iron bisglycinate 25mg every other day. Not daily. Research shows alternate day dosing has better fractional absorption because hepcidin peaks 24 hours after a dose and blocks absorption of the next one. At week 6 my ferritin was 58. Processing speed on cognitive testing improved noticeably around week 4. Vitamin D loading. Mine was 19 ng/mL in February. Supplemented 5,000 IU daily for 8 weeks then dropped to 3,000 IU maintenance. Retested at 52 ng/mL. The fog improvement was gradual. Not a single moment where it kicked in. More like I looked back at my scores after 6 weeks and realized the bad days had stopped. If you live above 35° latitude and have not tested your D levels you are probably deficient October through March. Magnesium glycinate 400mg before bed. Slutsky et al. published in Neuron 2010 showing magnesium enhances learning and memory. Serum magnesium is a garbage test because it only drops when you are severely depleted. Most people in western countries are sub clinically deficient. The sleep improvement was the first thing I noticed. Deeper sleep within 3 nights. The cognitive effect followed the better sleep by about a week. Do not use magnesium oxide. Bioavailability is terrible. Glycinate or threonate. Tier 3: The stuff people do not want to hear Caffeine elimination. I tapered from 400mg per day to zero over 8 weeks. Days 1 through 3 at each step down were rough. By week 10 at zero caffeine my baseline cognitive scores were higher than my best caffeinated scores. Caffeine does not add energy. It blocks adenosine receptors. Your brain compensates by building more receptors. Now you need caffeine to reach the baseline you would have had without it. I was borrowing from tomorrow every single day for 12 years. 30 minutes of cardio. Not negotiable. Not replaceable with supplements. A single session increases BDNF by 200 to 300%. One session. BDNF is the protein that drives neuroplasticity and repair. A year of regular walking increased hippocampal volume by 2% in clinical trials. That is 1 to 2 years of age related brain shrinkage reversed. Nothing in a capsule does this. Nothing. Cutting alcohol entirely. Not reducing. Cutting. A 2017 BMJ longitudinal study followed 550 people for 30 years. Even "moderate" drinkers at 14 to 21 units per week had significantly increased hippocampal atrophy. Ebrahim et al. showed alcohol destroys deep sleep architecture at any dose. I wore a sleep tracker. Zero deep sleep on drinking nights versus 80 to 90 minutes without. That was enough data. I stopped. Tier 4: The testing that found the actual root cause Full panel bloodwork. Not a CBC. Not a basic metabolic. This is what I asked for specifically: ferritin (not just hemoglobin), B12, folate, 25-OH vitamin D, RBC magnesium, TSH plus free T4 plus TPO antibodies, fasting insulin, HbA1c, CRP. Two things came back off that my DR never would have caught. The ferritin at 22 and the vitamin D at 19. Both technically in range. Both functionally impairing my brain. What did not work: Lion's mane. Took it for 8 weeks. No measurable change on cognitive testing. Maybe it works for some people. Did nothing for me. Alpha GPC. Same. 8 weeks. Nothing on testing. Noopept. Slight subjective feeling of clarity. Nothing on objective testing. Stopped. Modafinil. Worked acutely. Tolerance built within 2 weeks. Sleep quality tanked. Net negative after a month. What people do not want to accept: The boring stuff works. The exciting stuff mostly does not. Fixing your air, water, iron, vitamin D, magnesium, sleep, movement, and removing alcohol and excess caffeine will do more for your cognition than every nootropic stack on this sub combined. I know because I tested both. One at a time. With a cognitive testing baseline. The supplements are a rounding error on top of the fundamentals. Fix the fundamentals first or you are optimizing a system that is broken at the foundation. Studies referenced: Allen JG et al. CO2 and cognitive function scores. Environ Health Perspect. 2016.
2016. recs for serum-like foundations or skin tints?
does anyone have any recommendations for super dewy foundations? i’ve looked at the ordinary’s serum foundation - the reviews aren’t great however - and am gonna grab a couple shades to try since it’s super cheap, but i’d love some options :) i’m fair with some freckles and i would love for them to be visible under the product. price isn’t a huge issue, please send your recommendations!! submitted by /u/iluvvpugs69 to r/MakeupAddiction [link] [comments]

The Ordinary Serum Foundation is annoyingly fantastic...
I finally got my lil fingies on The Ordinary Serum Foundation after months and months of ads for it while it was out of stock and she really is "that bitch" for anyone who likes a light coverage, your skin but better, natural finish-to-teensy-bit-dewy look. And she's $7.50 which is so sexy! My shade is the 1.1N Fair Neutral and it's an absolutely perfect match. 10/10 love this so much! My only point of criticism (and it's really more just request because I'm greedy) is wanting some chemical SPF added please? 🙏 Eyes is Colour Pop Wild Child palette Cheeks is NYX Buttermelt in U Know Butta Lip is Naturium Phyto-glow in Latte Setting powder is the Tarte Creaseless in lavender. submitted by /u/Alewo27 to r/MakeupAddiction [link] [comments]

FAE BEAUTY SKIN TINT/SERUM FOUNDATION - THE SEXY REVIEW
hello beautiful people! Thank you to the people who interacted with me on my last post here - it was helpful to know what all you wanted me to look out for! I will try to address the questions that were raised in the last post. Hope this helps you make an informed choice. TESTING CONDITIONS every fair test needs to expand upon its testing conditions. Here's what I was working with - medium-neutral olive skintone. closest foundation match: estee lauder double wear in cashew oily-combination skin. heavy acne scarring. weather: cloudy, cool, not very muggy or humid, plenty of sun. no primer. my regular primer is the danessa myricks yummy skin blurring balm, because its the only product that can control my oil production. Yes, I am that oily. But I thought it will be a good idea to test the product without a primer. why? for three reasons. average consumer doesn't wear primer in their day to day ideally, a skin tint shouldn't need a primer. i wanted to see how the product would perform against my oily skin without the help of danessa. I applied the product using my fingers as well as a makeup brush. SKIN TINT OR FOUNDATION? the formula doesn't quite know what it wants to do on the packaging that i received, the product is named "super serum skin tint" whereas on the website, it is called the face card serum foundation. this inconsistency is the cornerstone of this product. it doesn't know whether it wants to be a skin tint or a foundation. to be clear, the product is more foundation than skin tint. it's thick and goopy (and it gets everywhere!!) and when it goes on the skin, it lays down very much like an oily, heavy foundation. This isn't a negative thing, necessarily - but I fear for those of us who wanted rare beauty at fae beauty prices will have to keep looking. Full disclosure, I expected a skin tint and am on the hunt for a skin TINT. I have plenty of foundations and don't really need another one. THE SERUM PROBLEM - DO WE REALLY NEED MORE NIACINAMIDE? I'm copying this directly from the fae beauty website. this is what their marketing material claims Niacinamide (0.5%) - Brightens, refines pores, strengthens barrier Kakadu Plum (2%) - Contains the highest recorded natural concentration of Vitamin C - up to 100x more than an orange. To Brighten dull skin and boost radiance. Fade dark spots & acne pigmentation. Liquorice Extract (0.2%) - To calm inflammation and redness. Moringa Oil (0.5%) - Nourishes & protects against pollution Amino Acids (0.5%) - Help maintain hydration & skin resilience Hybrid SPF system - SPF 15 - Protects from sun damage I have a huge problem with niacinamide and other heavy hitter actives being in makeup products, because they don't suit everybody. The other major issue is, the actives present in this formulation are too little to actually have any benefit. you're never going to put enough skin tint on your face to have the full effect of niacinamide. and 2% vitamin C... give me a break? 2% is nothing. so what we have here is all these actives getting wasted in the formula, because they're too little to have tangible benefits. but at the same time, they are present and may cause allergic reactions to skin types that are more sensitive. This is a big problem with the sciencification of makeup. In order to make up for past wrongs, we have pivoted too hard in the other direction. We're putting niacinamide in everything, and it really needs to fucking stop. UPON IMMEDIATELY APPLYING... I noticed that it goes on incredibly oily. like, very oily. I wonder if the moringa oil is doing overtime here or if there's some other ingredients here that that is a heavy hitter. I am not a cosmetic chemist, so maybe someone else can weigh in. From what I can tell, in their effort to make the product look dewy, they have added some heavy hitter silicone products, in addition to the kakadu plum oil and the moringa oil. My first application, it was a little disconcerting to have a product this oily on my face. I thought I was applying it wrong, because the excess oil made it difficult to see if I'd blended the product properly. After going in with my hands, I also went in with a dense foundation brush to blend it. Didn't help. I decided to let the product dry on my face, before going in with the rest of my products. IT TOOK ONE HOUR FOR THE FOUNDATION TO DRY DOWN, the oiliness of the product began to settle. Just to give it an additional boost - I topped it with some huda beauty powder (shade kunafa) in the more oily areas of my face. After the powdering, it started looking more skin-like and dewy rather than just oily. If you do buy this product and plan to use it, i would recommend starting your makeup atleast two hours before you are to go somewhere, because even with my oiliness, it took the foundation quite a bit of time to truly settle into my skin. After my hour, I put some products on top. mac gingerly blush milk makeup contour nars soft matte concealer + estee lauder double wear concealer nyx i know that's bright palette. milani make it last dewy setting spray huda beauty easy bake powder MAC glossy liner - root for me MAC lustreglass alone time MAC kajal CLIO long curling mascara the products settled well and didn't pill or react immediately. I'm a little shy about putting my face on reddit but my makeup looked fly as heck (my girlfriends said so!). other than the milk contour, I would recommend all these products. anyway, back to the review. DID IT OXIDISE? yes. here i took the two photographs against the same window, and roughly the same angle. today, in my city, the weather has fluctuated and sunlight has been more or less steady. if you notice the two photos, it kind of looks like I've had a slightly bad tan in the second pic. does it look terrible? no. i went out and it was fine. not oompa loompa orange. but while purchasing, I would probably buy one shade below. of course, this is slightly difficult for me because the shade directly below my shade 31N, is 30N which has a "peach undertone". Most decidedly, peach is not my undertone. I'll just save money and go for rare beauty. DID IT PILL? no. here there was no pilling, caking or flaking. in fact, it blended most beautifully with my other products, to give a really nice glow. you'll notice under my eye, there's a slight fading and feathering. it looks like it is clinging to the dryness, but that's because i have run out of eyecream and my undereyes were crusty as hell. overall, as far as pilling goes, it has performed well given i didn't put any primer. IS IT TRANSFER PROOF? yes, somewhat. after it is on the face, there's slight transfer before it dries. but once its dry its pretty much not moving from your face. WHAT TYPE OF SKIN WILL IT SUIT? if you are someone who dislikes the oily feeling, it will not suit you. it may be best suited for dry skin, but to be very fair I didn't notice any substantial issues on my oily combi skin. I will say, if you have sensitive skin, its best to avoid because of the heavy hitter actives, the oils and the pore clogging silicones. DID IT COVER ACNE SCARRING? ohohoho, here's my time to shine. if there's any type of acne scarring out there in the world, I most likely have it. you can check out the pics I've put above, and judge for yourselves. Here are my thoughts - it wont cover the icepick, boxcar and rolling scars. it will cover some hyper-pigmentation and marks. think of it as your average medium-low coverage foundation. you can use it to even out the skin, not necessarily cover. use your colour correctors. HOW LONG DID IT LAST? It's about 75% gone from my skin after a good 4.5 hours. I actually don't like long wearing products, and to be fair - I did not use primer. I suppose with primer it would have lasted full 8 hours as they claim, though that's hard to say. I am super oily, haha. So, not a minus for me. OTHER SKIN TINTS? since this is a foundation, I think its unfair to compare it to the house of makeup skin tint - which is the only other skin tint that is being created by an indian brand. however, I will say - the house of makeup one is a true-blue skin tint. its a runny, beautiful formulation that sits very well on the skin. If you can find your shade in the house of makeup skin tint - go for that one. why i say "find your shade" ?- because you may find it difficult to. their medium m10 is NEON ORANGE on me. they have completely fucked up undertones. difficult to figure out which shade to buy using their website images. however, i have dear friends who have found their shades and are VERY HAPPY with the product. I'm just unlucky. such is life. SPEAKING OF UNDERTONES... I truly don't think the fae team understands undertones. They have marketed their shades as "olive" and "warm" and "cool" but I found it highly strange that no matter what I put, it all seemed orange on me. for reference, I tried shades in the medium skin range (40N, 30N, 31N, 41O, 42N, 32W) - i don't have images, but frankly don't think I need them either. just go on the website and observe their own images. the neutrals are very orange. the warms are even more orange. the cool will likely be peach. if you want to understand what olive foundations should look like, look no further than about face beauty - which i consider the gold standard for actually olive foundations. the difference will astound you. this isn't to shit on fae, atleast they're mentioning olive. but, be warned. you may need blue color corrector. LA Girl has a good one. FINAL THOUGHTS good marketing, terrible execution. I am more forgiving of FAE than I am of other brands, because I do think their brand ethos is very clever. they identified a gap in the market and are now having a lot of fun in it. I do wish the marketing would be backed up by solid products. unfortunately this hasn't been the case for the foundation. I am not a fae hater. I like the lip whip and the brown kajal. but the products have been inconsistent across the board. The lip liner fades after 20 minutes, lets not even talk about the gloss. Unfortunately for me, the foundation is another miss. Given the oiliness, the work it took to make it work for me (one hour wait is far too much) and the oxidation, I don't know if I am willing to spend 1000 rupees on the product. I can just mix moisturiser into my estee lauder and make a skin tint that doesn't give me so much trouble. hunt for a good skin tint continues... https://preview.redd.it/02r2pbg4zwtf1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=1754de868819451c6fac35e37eeb7ab5a17112a9 submitted by /u/SexyFoodandFilms to r/IndianBeautyTalks [link] [comments]

I am a DV survivor. I refuse to give ELF my money. I have made a list of popular products from ELF, against what one can use instead. Hope this helps!!
This is not an exhaustive list - in the comments please feel free to discuss and add suggestions. Hope this can be pinned. I will not even use the product names, because i won't give elf even that much free marketing. I hope the descriptor will be clear enough. There will be a separate thread for ELF skincare which will also provide alternatives for their subsidiary: rhode by hailey beiber, keys wellness, naturium and w3ll people. you can find the skincare list here GRIPPY PRIMER McCoMakeup Grip Primer Maybelline grippy primer revlon colorstay grip primer NYX the face glue. ETA: not including sheglam because that's shein's makeup brand which is... not... great. milani has been struck from this list as they publicly sided with johnny depp during the trial. unfortunately, this list is not bds safe because i typed it from memory, and its gets pretty hard to keep track of who is the parent company of which brand. so i urge everyone to do their own research, as it will take me a couple of days to track down the parent company of each brand and then mark them safe on the list. meanwhile, here is the bds list - https://boycott.thewitness.news/categories/cosmetics submitted by /u/SexyFoodandFilms to r/drugstoreMUA [link] [comments]

L'Oreal launched 24hr serum foundation shade range just shameful.
I just saw L'Oreal launched their 24hr serum foundation on nykaa. They have only 7 shades out of which four for light category, one in medium and 2 for tan. I'm tired of big brands doing this in India. And nykaa is showing 8 shades. But good luck finding that extra shade. submitted by /u/Sufficient_Regret_93 to r/IndianMakeupAddicts [link] [comments]

Has anyone tried the new Mac Studio Radiance Serum-Powered Foundation?
I really like foundations that give a second-skin effect, and it seems like the new MAC foundation achieves just that. Has anyone tried it? Are there any good fair shades with neutral/warm undertones? submitted by /u/MysteriousGrapeJuice to r/PaleMUA [link] [comments]

UPDATE: I asked for advice last week on how to improve my skincare and makeup to not make me look older. Update for anyone that’s interested. Repost for selfie Sunday
I was so overwhelmed with all the advice and comments I received the other week in how to improve my makeup and skincare to help me look my age and not older than I am. Well I followed everyone’s advice with me skin care and makeup. I now use a dewy foundation and primer and have skipped the setting powder. Got eyelash extensions and have skipped wearing heavy eye makeup. I use hyaluaric serums and slug my face nightly. Thank you everyone for all your lovely comments. 🥰 submitted by /u/naselflee to r/30PlusSkinCare [link] [comments]
