It's me, the guy who surrounded his living area base with a 2 tile wide vacuum at great cost and then did manufacturing outside it because I didn't look up any tricks and thought it was neat.

I bought this from Woot and after trying to pair it multiple times it keeps losing it's wifi connect. It might just be the refurb model but i suspect the product is a lemon and recommend everyone avoid buying the shark robot vac. I reached out to woot to return it and it's a manual process because they have Lithium Ion batteries in them. Woot hasn't responded yet, but if i don't hear back soon ...

EDIT: After going through all the comments and doing a bit more research I decided to go with the Dyson Gen5detect. From what I found it seems to hit the sweet spot in terms of performance for the price and it also happens to have a discount rn which made the decision easier. i just went to empty my vacuum into the kitchen trash and the whole bottom flap randomly snapped off sending a massive mountain of dirt and hair all over the floor i literally just finished cleaning. im so unbelievably done and just need a new one right now before i lose my mind because im completely stuck. ive been reading on here and everyone keeps saying to get Miele Complete C3 or SEBO Airbelt K3 or Dyson Gen5detect. but honestly im kinda leaning toward Shark POWERDETECT Upright mostly because my local target has it in stock right down the street and it just looks way less bulky to keep in my closet. right now im upgrading from this duct taped old bagless upright that just spits dust everywhere while im trying to clean up everyday household messes. i have the cash for the top tier stuff but i really dont want to get ripped off by diminishing returns if a mid range model cleans just as well so i really just want to find that perfect sweet spot. my only hard rule is i completely refuse to deal with another plastic dirt bin that poofs a giant cloud of fine allergy dust right back into my face when i dump it out. so now im completely torn between getting one of those giant heavy duty bagged canisters that supposedly run forever and suck up everything or just buying a super convenient lightweight battery stick that i can easily carry aroumd even if it completely dies in a few years. im ready to pull the trigger today so what exact model should i just blindly buy so i can stop stressing about this? submitted by /u/StarryxAce to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Was messing around with Reddit data on vacuum cleaners. Thought I’d share the results. Its part of one of my projects to tinker with Reddit data and LLMs. Wanted to create something useful for the community while levelling up my coding chops. The idea is to highlight which vacuum cleaners got the most love. To be clear, most love =/= best. But hopefully its a useful data point nonetheless, especially for those overwhelmed by info. I actually posted a version of this ~6 months ago. Unfortunately there were some issues that many of you helped to point out. I’ve since fixed a lot of those (limited to models on Amazon, erroneous model attribution, duplications). Lemme know what you think! Obviously this is a VERY general list. IMO it starts to get most interesting when you slice and dice the data. Title says it all. Turned 50 yesterday. Husband (53M) woke me up, told me he had a surprise for me downstairs. I go downstairs and see a vacuum, not even wrapped mind you. He said he thought I’d like a new one since the current one doesn’t have the ability to turn off the brush roller when using on hard floors. I never asked for a new one. It works fine. That was my birthday. Not even a lunch or dinner out. He mentioned a month ago about doing something special and going on a trip. I asked about that and he said he figured I’d tell him when and where I wanted to go. He never asked where but did mention several times over the past month he had a surprise for me. Apparently it was a f*cking vacuum. We’ve been married 17 years. AITA for hoping or expecting that maybe he could have planned and surprised me with something? Anything? Something more than an Amazon next day delivery vacuum? When he turned 50 I took him to Hawaii. Maybe I’m just being hypersensitive. Turning 50 has been a hard number for me. Instead, people on Reddit recommend brands like Sebo, Kenmore, and Hoover for upright vacs. These products perform well, are easy to repair, and last long. I suggest checking out the buying guide on r/VacuumCleaners. I also find out that Vacuum Wars is sponsored by Shark, which is really disappointing because it destroys the trustworthiness of what could be an excellent source for vacuum reviews. Apart from the misalignment between commercial interest and honest product recommendations, review sites that actually test products fail because they don't have the capacity to test products in-depth year-over-year. In contrast, people on Reddit live with these products on an ongoing basis. My only domestic quality is that I live indoors. Apartment is rented or I'd replace 600 square feet of crappy wall to wall with quality vinyl or tile, something much easier to clean when the inevitable animal related incidents occur. But for the next few years I'm stuck with this (sometimes literally) sh*tty carpet, so I have to get something to keep the animal hair at bay.
