Surrendering my cat today - second guessing everything, need honest opinions
My wife and I are heartbroken and need an honest perspective before we make a final decision today. We’ve had our 4-year-old cat, Cookies, for three years. He has always been a sweet, calm lap cat, but since bringing our newborn daughter home eight weeks ago, he has developed stress-related inappropriate urination, specifically marking walls when I return from work. The situation is complicated by the fact that our daughter has a medical condition requiring a strictly clean environment. While Cookies is affectionate with us, he has an established aversion to children, often hissing or swiping at our guests' kids when they get close. Our vet confirmed this is entirely behavioral stress and warned that his dislike of children likely won't change. We’ve tried enzyme cleaners and pheromone diffusers, but with a medically fragile infant and significant professional pressure, we have zero bandwidth left for a complex behavioral overhaul. We love him deeply, but he is clearly miserable, and we are at our limit. We have a surrender appointment today at a reputable no-kill shelter. Are we making the right call for his well-being and our daughter’s health, or is there something we haven’t considered? -- update 1 Update: Thank you all so much for your advice and perspective. When it came down to it, I just couldn't bring myself to surrender him today. To answer a few common questions: the very first thing we did was reach out to family and friends, but unfortunately, no one is able to take him, even temporarily. After reading through all your comments, we've decided to cancel the appointment, give Cookies a bit more time, and look into trying Prozac to see if it can help stabilize things. We know it's going to be a tough road ahead, but we aren't ready to give up on him just yet. Thank you again for the support. -- update 2/context I wanted to provide some extra context and answer a few common questions from the comments. First, we live in the DFW area in Texas, and yes, Cookies is neutered. Our history with him goes back to when we used to cat-sit him for a close friend. Eventually, that friend started dating someone who was severely allergic to cats. I told him he should probably just dump her (just kidding, they’re engaged now!), but my wife and I couldn't bear the thought of Cookies going to a shelter. We took him in, even though we were living in a tiny apartment at the time and had to vacuum multiple times a day just to manage the litter. In fact, when we moved into our current apartment, we specifically chose this floor plan with Cookies in mind—making sure it had a massive laundry room just to comfortably fit his litter box and setups. Fast forward to today: having a newborn is overwhelming, and I honestly stopped having the time to play with him like I used to. That’s when the subtle signs started. He stopped grooming himself as thoroughly and left a couple of poop stains on our bed. Because we place our baby girl on the bed constantly, we had to make the tough call to lock him out of our bedroom. At the time, I didn't realize he was deeply stressed; I mistakenly thought he was just unhappy with his litter box. Hoping to fix it, I bought him a brand-new one, which ironically seems to have triggered even more stress and started the territorial spraying. Now, the routine is heartbreaking. I come home completely exhausted, play with him for a few minutes, and head into the bedroom to change and see my daughter—only to walk out to the smell of fresh urine. It started as a once-a-day occurrence, but it has now escalated to 4 or 5 times a day. We are dealing with a massive accumulation of stress on both sides, which is why we reached our breaking point today. submitted by /u/samseam to r/cats [link] [comments]

Surprise inspection sometime this month, could I get evicted for this spot?
I’ve lived here for three years and they’ve never cared much about anything during inspections, even when my unit was border-lining hoarder territory, but now we are under new management and I’m very worried about this spot! We have other spots on the carpet like paint and ink which I’m also worried about. We always assumed we just wouldn’t be getting our deposit back, but I’m just worried!! Would they evict us for this?? Me and my girlfriend are both young and inexperienced with this sort of thing! Any sort of stories or advice would help so so much!! EDIT: inspection went great!! Thank you so much to everyone who commented!!! The inspector was extremely nice and silly which helped out a lot!!! He didn’t even mention the spot! So yeah! It was super stress free and took like ten minutes Like I said originally, me and my gf are early 20’s who both lived in messy neglectful houses growing up. I grew up in hoarder houses and was conditioned to be TERRIFIED of inspections and got evicted multiple times and almost faced homelessness as a kid because of how awful and filthy my homes were growing up. Admittedly I was panicking hard when I wrote this out, but everyone was super informative and helpful about this. Thank you all so so much!!! I’m going to try to patch it up in the future, I’ve watched a few tutorials and it doesn’t look too hard! It was already pretty cruddy when we moved in, the seam job was pretty noticeable and bad to begin with and I ended up finding a coin under the carpet if that tells you anything lmao. AS FOR THE VACUUMING IM SO EMBARRASSED I DIDN’T REALIZE HOW NASTY IT WAS IN THE PIC😭😭 My vacuum cleaner had just broke and ended up spilling out onto the floor when I was trying to fix it. Before I cleaned it I got nervous about the spot and took a pic. I promise it doesn’t always look like that!!! I feel extremely vulnerable sharing this because I know a lot of people wont understand and I don’t blame them at all! But please just note that your comments got me through this, I even appreciate the more critical ones because it was never something my family got onto me about as a kid, hearing at as an adult is honestly nice, I need to hear it!!! So yeah seriously thank you all!! submitted by /u/SafeSexChalupa to r/Apartmentliving [link] [comments]

Best Vacuum Cleaner To Get In 2026? (Price & Suction Power)
Hi, all! I'm looking to get a good vacuum cleaner for home, but I'm not rlly sure what to go for. I want something with strong suction, easy handling and something that doesn't feel annoying to use every time I need to clean. It would mainly be for dust, everyday mess and some deeper cleaning here and there. My budget is around $500-$750. Edit: Huge thanks to everyone who took the time to help! After thinking it through, I decided to go with Dyson V15 Detect since it offered the best value for the price, plus it’s on discount at the moment. :)) submitted by /u/Tranquilal-SEM to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Next door neighbor's been continuously calling the police for noise complaints - in the middle of the day over housework/yardwork
I am NOT OOP, OOP is u/oh__whalee Originally posted to r/neighborsfromhell Next door neighbor's been continuously calling the police for noise complaints - in the middle of the day over housework/yardwork Thanks to u/queenlegolas & u/soayherder for suggesting this BoRU Trigger Warnings: harassment, verbal abuse, assault, mentions of TBI Original Post: May 22, 2025 Hello Reddit, longtime lurker here. English isn't my first language so bear with me. My parents (mid 50s) and I (25) have lived in this township my entire life. Many of our neighbors know my parents well and we've all gotten along just fine. We just recently had a new neighbor move in with her boyfriend (both mid 20s) next to us in December 2024 and since then she's called the police on us multiple times during the day and our town's health department too. For context, my dad owns multiple vehicles/motorcycles and does repairs on them mostly on the weekends, during the day. When he's on his vacation weeks he will do them during the week, during the day. He plays music at a low level (think background music) that can't be heard from the street while he does his work. From what we've gathered this neighbor works from home. As for what she does, we're not sure. She's come up to my dad several times specifically to tell him to stop playing music and doing his repairs during the day (And night, mind you). She's also told him he needs to get rid of his truck because its "too loud and rattles her windows" (it's a 1969 Chevrolet truck, if you know older vehicles they have a deeper bass to their engines for the most part). This neighbor's put up a new (and flimsy) fence nailed to ours and put caulking all over her windows to try and muffle the sounds. She's also tossed weeds and grass all over our driveway and has begun harrassing the other neighbors for just doing their normal everyday yardwork. I've started keeping logs of the police visits because its started getting to a ridiculous level (we've had police come through multiple times a day for the same issue). Apparently the police are aware of who's making the calls, but i figure i might as well keep record too. I'm just appalled. We live in a ghetto little township with no HOAs and barely any enforcement. Lots of freight trains pass through a few streets over and the high school hosts games that are very very loud throughout the year. I don't know what this girl is trying to achieve or if she has some specific issue with us due to our race? (Which in itself wouldn't make sense since her relationship is interracial too.) Sorry for the rambling, I'm just tired of this lady and her constant harassment TT EDIT Clarifying some points I’ve seen: - My dad doesn’t do repair or yard work everyday. Most of the time he keeps this to the weekends. During his vacation weeks he may do these more often but certainly not everyday. Also, other people around us do repairs and yard work and play music during the day, her issue seems to be with us specifically. - He has a garage he keeps the music contained in. He doesn’t blast the music from the driveway or anything, and our garage is a separate building in the very back part of our yard. This has been the same case for the last 30 years my parents have lived here and she’s the first neighbor to complain about the music and yard work. - This neighbor calls multiple times a day sometimes. (As of rn I am setting up a meeting/call with the police department to figure out next steps) - We have tried to work with her, but she’s been pretty hostile whenever we’ve tried to work out a civil conversation with her. Small update as of 5/24 We’re going down a legal route, the neighbor attacked me yesterday when I got home from work. Not sure what her issue is but I hope we can resolve this soon, I’m so tired TT Relevant Comments Commenter 1: Keep notes. Every time the police come because of a complaint, what the complaint was, what the police said, date, and time. If you ever need to demonstrate harassment, this will help. OOP: I have a journal full of these visits now, my dad is having me research how to get her on harrassment since its causing a lot of stress for us and our other neighbors I forgot to mention i do try to keep track of the fights she has with her boyfriend too, she gets into screaming matches with him a lot that everyone around the neighborhood can hear Commenter 2: I'm surprised the cops showed up since it's during the day and most places don't have day time noise ordinances. Where I'm from this would be considered a nuisance call to the police and they'd ticket the person for excessive reporting. OOP: I'm surprised too, we do have quite a bit of day to day noise between the schools and the trains. I work at night and i can sleep through these noises just fine, so i'm not sure what her problem is Commenter 2: It's time for you to go to the police station and ask to speak to the supervisor on duty, then file a police report with them for your neighbor harassing you. If the other neighbors are having issues with her they need to do the same. OOP: Thank you! I plan to do so in the next few days, if not today (she's called three times today alone T_T) OOP clarifies details on the noise ordinance during the daytime that could have affected the neighbor's working hours at home OOP: Yeah, we’ve kept the music low or none at all, and my dad and I usually don’t idle our trucks for long (maybe a minute or two at most, I leave at midnight and he leaves around 6am) The police have confirmed with us that we’re not violating any noise ordinance laws and that her complaints are unfounded Edit to add: it’s not just the music she calls over, it’s general yard work/repair work my dad does and the other neighbors do during the day. She also calls multiple times per day sometimes. + It’s not every day, even on his vacation weeks. Usually it’s on the weekends, if he has time to. Neighbor tends to call every time he’s doing something outside in his garage, or out in the yard We have been trying to work with her, but she either screams at us, ignores us (she wears big headphones outside), or resorts to calling the police. + Yeah, ours is 60 decibels during the day. Noise restrictions are 11pm to 6am. Commenter 3: What I'm hearing is that you've done your homework, you know the noise ordinances, you're keeping records, you've gotten good advice here, but I still have two questions I haven't seen addressed: Do they own or rent? I'm guessing they own, so you can't just complain to the landlord. Has anyone spoken with her partner? I mean, she isn't willing to work anything out with the neighborhood, but maybe her partner has working hinges? If you're in the United States, you can look for your local Lawyer Referral Service, which is sort of a low-cost legal clinic. They'll find an attorney with a relevant specialty and you can have a brief consultation for a nominal fee. They will usually do small jobs at a reduced rate, too - like a letter or something. There are sometimes mediation services available through the police, and that might end up being a solution. In my hometown, we used the Noise Abatement department of the police, which set up mediation with the NFH. You could even call the police yourself and ask if they have any such service. If I were in your shoes, I would ask some of the other neighbors she's bothering to join you in calling Noise Abatement, explain that your neighbor is complaining about the noise, and you'd like help resolving the complaints. Maybe if she hears from an authority figure that she's out of line she'll back off. By the way, if she has nailed a fence into your fence, I would definitely have an attorney write to fix that. In fact, when was the most recent survey done? Is her fence on your property? Zero tolerance. Tossing waste onto your property? Not OK - take action. Good luck - and do please update! I'm invested now! OOP: Thank you for this! We’re in the US, so I’ll look into the lawyer service and the mediation when I’m home from work later today. I don’t think we’ve done a survey revently… I’ll have to ask my dad about that. Her boyfriend built the fence, it’s very flimsy (I think they built it with the lowest quality wood) and they put packing Styrofoam on it to try to muffle the sounds. Birds have been picking at the fence and the windstorms we’ve had haven’t been kind to it. As for her partner - my dad and I have talked to him, actually. The guy doesnt speak up against his girlfriend’s actions and has kinda clammed up at this point. He’s very meek and quiet. I’m beginning to suspect he might be a victim of abuse just based on the screaming fights he and his girlfriend get into, she says horrific things to him. I feel bad for the guy, honestly. I’ll do my best to keep people posted! Thank you again!   Update #1: June 18, 2025 (nearly one month later) UPDATE: Neighbor continuously calling the police for noise complaints Hello again, reddit. I hope you all are doing well. Forgive me, I'm not too sure how updates work in this sub. A quick TLDR of my original post: My neighbor has been calling noise complaints repeatedly since she moved in with her boyfriend next door in late 2024. These complaints have been about my dad's music, truck starting in the morning, and yard/repair work during the day. Let me address the commonly asked questions that I saw: * How loud is the music, and how often do these activities occur? * 60 decibels is the limit during the day. This is about as loud as a vacuum cleaner, according to the health department when we called them to verify. My dad and I marked the sound setting on his stereo's volume knob so we don't go over that limit. Generally, the music is much lower - we can have a normal conversation without the music drowning us out. My guess is that its 40 decibels and below, but I don't have a device specific for that measurement. * My dad doesn't have the music playing or doing yard work/repair work every day. He keeps these to the weekends, unless he has a week off from work. Even then, he doesn't do these activities everyday. Our garage isn't a part of the house, its all the way in the back of our backyard, and he keeps the music contained in there + and the repairs. * These activities that we do are usually in the afternoon (around 1pm and later). Sometimes we do stuff earlier (like 11 or 10am in the summers because of the heat). * Our neighbor ONLY calls the police during the week, with many calls happening around noon (even when we're not home). She doesn't do this during the weekends, or when I or my mom are doing yardwork in the front yard. It's only when my dad's on vacation, and he's doing some kind of yard work or repair work with the music playing at a low level. * What have we done to reduce noise? * As I said before, we did contact the health department (I believe that's what they're called in English) to verify noise ordinance and anything we can do to help alleviate the problem. We've made sure the noise is within legal limits, but there's only so much we can do when we have things that we need to take care of and are legally allowed to do on our own property. * My dad keeps his repair work and music within his garage. It was added on to the property before my parents bought the house, so it's not directly to the side of the neighbor's house. It's in the very back. We verified with a detective that the level of sound coming out of the garage is actually quite quiet and shouldn't be causing the level of disturbance the neighbor says it does. * We have tried talking to the neighbor and her boyfriend to figure out a solution, but have been met with nothing but hostility. She wants nothing to do with us. We did allow her and her boyfriend to use our fence posts to build their own fence onto, but this fence doesn't go the whole length of their property (it only goes to the garage entrance, not all the way to the back of the property). Maybe that's a reason why she can hear the sounds? We know that she's been adding noise proofing to her house, but outside of that, I'm not sure what else we can do. * We discussed some details with a detective and the detective verified that we have done as much as we can do within our power to reduce noise; also, this neighbor has called upwards of fifty times in the last two months alone for the same issue. She's also visited the precinct enough that she's become a nuisance to them. Please let me know if I've missed anything, I will answer any questions that I'm able to. Alright so, the update. I added a small update to my original post on the day of, but on the 24th of May the neighbor confronted me after I'd gotten home from work. I wasn't in the mood to really talk to people (night shift is brutal), much less her, so when she started bombarding me with questions about why I wasn't listening to her complaints, I told her I'd just gotten home and had better things to do rather than listen to her complaints. I tried to leave the situation after that and go into my house, but she slapped me and told me I was a disrespectful bitch and shouldn't talk to her like that since she's older (I don't know her actual age, but I know she's young). I tried to disengage after that, but she kept slapping and hitting me. One of our other neighbors saw the commotion and called the police. It's been a whole thing. We're considering going for more than just assault charges when we're able to. This incident plus my journal logs, and the records the police have, we do have a case. I'm just tired of this situation, and so are my parents. At least my best friend and girlfriend are enjoying the drama, lol. Anyway, sorry this post is so long. If I have any other updates I will try to write them when I can. Thank you guys for listening. Relevant Comments Commenter 1: Was she arrested? Press charges FFS and get a restraining order or the equivalent where you are. OOP: Yes, she was. Its a first time offense, but we've been working with the police to figure out legal steps (I hope we can get a restraining order after this TT) Commenter 2: You are into lawyer land. 1) Cameras. Get cameras and have them doing a 360 around that house. Even better if you can have the cameras record audio. Double check your local laws. I know in Texas perfectly legal to have outdoor cameras record audio as zero exceptions of privacy outside (including backyard). Yes learned it all from my own NFH in having to do it. 2) Get a lawyer to send a cease and desist letter to them and serve them with it. Basically telling them in very legalized terms to fuck off and do not talk to you or interact with you. 3) same lawyer start the process of getting a restraining order and collecting evidence for that. Your cameras will help greatly in that department as it will show proof. 4) Keep a log book and report any violations she does to the police. 5) DO NOT INTERACT with your neighbor at all. No speaking no nothing. If they speak to you all you say is you need to talk to my lawyer. There is no direct convocation. You will always go through a 3rd party that being the cops or your lawyer. 6) Be ready to file a lawsuit. Chances are your lawyer will gear up for that as well. The civil lawsuit is more about making the restraining order case stronger and is that other big scary stick that forces people in line. I am sorry you are dealing with this. That list above is what I had to do to deal with my POS neighbor. Now I ended up moving over it but had to get all that in place to force them in line so we could sell the place and get some piece. The restraining order to make them back off and tthen the lawsuit as the big stick to keep them scared plus if they do anything to hurt the sell of the house it is my big stick to go after the landlord. OOP: Thank you! We've been in the process of buying cameras (money is tight right now though). We do have some legal stuff started (lawsuit, RO, harrassment, etc) due to the assault, so that's a start. I've been logging everything into a journal too (along with photos of my injuries). We also stopped interacting with her altogether a few weeks before my first post, so no issue there. TT I do hope this resolves quickly, my parents and I just want our peace back.   Update #2: September 29, 2025 (a bit over three months later) Hello Reddit, it’s been a while. My last update is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/neighborsfromhell/s/6Lc5Se4KoL First I want to say thank you for all the comments, lol. I did get some good advice and some funny advice, I do appreciate it. I do apologize for taking so long to get back to you all, I was in a work accident in July and have been dealing with a TBI ever since. That and, life has been busy for me with good things. I wish I could say I have a good, dramatic update, but it’s rather… bland? Meh? Nothing huge happened. My neighbor was slapped with community service and given an order to stop wasting police resources (and a fine). She lost her job, so her parents have moved onto the property in a camper to help her out. We haven’t had any problems since. My dad thinks they’ll move within the year or during the winter since the winters get super bad here. So yeah, nothing crazy. Just a woman being slapped with consequences of her actions. She hasn’t bothered us since, and my family couldn’t be happier haha. Oh and we did get a nice new security camera for our property! So some things are looking up. If anything major happens, I’ll post another update, but for now I’ll be back to lurking. Thanks again Reddit, I hope you all have good days wherever you’re at. ETA: I forgot to mention something I think you guys will enjoy; my dad is a beloved member of our community on the street we live on, so a lot of the older folks have taken to causing as much noise as possible to piss off the neighbor. Needless to say, I think it’s worked lol.   Final Update: December 6, 2025 (2.5 months later) FINAL UPDATE: Neighbor continuously calling police for noise complaints. Hello Reddit, it's been a little bit. I hope you all are well. For those who are just now seeing this, my original post is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/neighborsfromhell/comments/1kt1wla/next_door_neighbors_been_continuously_calling_the/ The TLDR: My next door neighbor has been calling the police repeatedly due to "noise complaints" about my family, primarily over my dad's music and daily yard work/repair work. Police confirmed we weren't causing a nuisance and her complaints were interfering with our everyday life. This update's relatively short, but it's a very happy ending. The neighbor and her boyfriend broke up, and they've sold the house. They've since moved out and we'll probably have new neighbors soon. My dad and his neighborhood buddies have been celebrating quite a bit about it lol. Even my wife and girlfriend have been laughing about it. We're all glad she's gone. All the legal stuff's been figured out too, so cheers. Anyway, that's my final update for this whole debacle. Thank you reddit folks for sticking around for it, if you've kept up with my updates. AITA For selling our home to move into a camper to get my step kids and step grandkids out of my house
Myself (41F) and my husband (62M), have been together for 10 years and married for 7 years. We met at work and fell in love! We bought our home 10 years ago. 3 years ago, his oldest daughter (same age as me), wanted to move in with us from another state to start fresh. There are much better opportunities where we live versus where she was living. I agreed, but let her know that this was temporary. 6 months later, his middle daughter was evicted. She is 2 years younger than me. She has 2 kids, (14F and 17M) at the time. My husband and I travel together for work, so we're almost never home. He let them move in, without talking to me, but I had already guessed it was going to happen. So, when we went home, I also let her know, that this was temporary. 2 years after the oldest daughter moved in, I had to kick her out. She had moved her boyfriend into my home without talking to me. She didn't have a vehicle and was using my car, until I bought her a car. The middle daughter was using my husband's truck but couldn't afford the gas, so I bought her a cheap used car. The only thing we've asked of them is to pay the light bill and keep the grass cut. My power has been shut off twice. We have to take care of the lawn every time we go home, and the house is always in disarray. 2 tvs were broken, my dining room rug and living room rug have vanished. The charger to my vacuum cleaner got up and left the house. They've adopted a dog and 2 cats that stay indoors without asking us. They constantly ask my husband and I for money. The now 20 year old grandson, doesn't have a driver's license, a GED or diploma, no job, and all he wants to do is play on his Playstation and smoke (trees). My husband lost his mom and dad within a year of each other, then a brother very recently. All of his family lives out of state (the same state they moved from), I told him this is the perfect opportunity to move back home and sell our home. We have a nice camper, and will be living on his sister's property so that we can help her out. This will also allow us to be debt free and invest more into his impending retirement. The house will be on the market by Jan 1st, it is mid November and they still don't have anywhere to go.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season, cheers! ETA: I see the mod team received reports for the post (for what reason, I’m unsure?), but it is still up… Regardless, I’ve posted a separate update on my profile in that case, for those who’ve been following this for a while. Reddit being Reddit, assuming this is AI… alright, haha. It’s the internet, do as you wish. I’ve no qualms with it. Either way, I’m going back to lurking, as I do. Goodnight, friends. Relevant Comments OOP clarifies on his relationships, having a wife and a girlfriend OOP: Ah, yeah, I have two partners. Polycule, haha. + It's a multigenerational household due to cultural, health and financial reasons. I live in the US in a place with quite high cost of living, so it makes sense. To clarify, my dad doesn't run any business out of his garage. He likes to tinker and fix vehicles he owns, always has. Its more a hobby than anything. The people that live in my house are me, my parents, and my wife. My girlfriend has her own house a couple towns over. Commenter: You mentioned she assaulted you in your last story. Anything happen with that? OOP: In terms of the legal side, she received community service and a fine. We considered a no contact order/restraining order but didn’t pursue it in the end.   Editor’s note: marking this concluded and OOP has deleted his account   DO NOT COMMENT IN LINKED POSTS OR MESSAGE OOPs – BoRU Rule #7 THIS IS A REPOST SUB - I AM NOT OOP submitted by /u/Choice_Evidence1983 to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

Which is the best Robot Vacuum Cleaner for Indian homes under 60-70k
I know I’m a little late in asking this but we are planning to buy a Robot Vacuum Cleaner and may buy one today since Diwali sales end soon. Our budget is around ₹60k but can be extended up to ₹70k if there is something which makes big quality of life improvements. We have recently moved to a two floor bungalow in Ahmedabad which is about 500 sqyrd or 4500 sq ft. But we’ve been a lot of issues with maid with regard to reliability, poor cleaning and some of them stealing things, which is why we are looking into robot vacuum cleaners. Upon going to Croma and Vijay Sales Eureka Forbes seems to be the only brand they are selling which is why we have not been able to see the others physically. The ones we are considering at the moment are:- 1. Eureka Forbes Smartclean Fully Automatic Cleaning Station Robotic Vacuum Cleaner 2. Ecovacs Deebot T30 Pro Omni (although we are worried about the after sales support of this one) 3. Xiaomi Mijia M30 Pro Mop Robot We don’t mind spending, however, we don’t want to spend on a product which could have horrendous after sales support and issues down the line. So while we will consider all your recommendations, please also try to include your experiences with reliability and after sales supports. submitted by /u/Depressed__Lawyer to r/BuyItForLifeIndia [link] [comments]

In memory of the best Chihuahua ambassador ever. Sparky (17 yrs) 6/2008 - 7/31/2025
My baby boy passed in his sleep July 31st, 2025, and I'm just now mustering the strength to post this. He made it to his 17th birthday. It's been cathartic to write and talk about him with others. This sub has always been so supportive so I wanted to share his story and some pictures. I never wanted a small dog. I was looking for a German Shepherd working type of dog. One where I could train to do neat tricks like fetching a beer from the fridge or force protection. Seems silly as I type this now, but I had never owned a dog before, I just thought it would be cool! But I saw this regal Chihuahua face on Petfinder and saved as a favorite. 6 months into my search he was still available, so I randomly took a chance and sent an inquiry for Sparky. Met the foster mom at a dog park and Sparky nipped at me when I first tried to pet him. OK, this boy was going to be feisty! Foster mom told me the previous family returned him after only a week because he was just too much to handle. He was estimated to be 3 years old and I was going to be his 4th (and last!) owner. Sparky was rescued from the euthanasia list at the local Chula Vista shelter. When I saw his impound papers, it said the shelter though he was a she! He was so skittish and aggressive they couldn't even examine him to determine gender. I got to take Sparky home that day. I had brought a friend's Chihuahua with me to try to make him feel at ease. Sparky was super anxious and skittish all day. I was really doubtful if I even wanted to keep him, but wanted to give him a few weeks to settle in. When I went to sleep the first night, I woke up with him snuggled in my armpits. That's when I told myself, OK, I'm keeping this boy. I really believed Sparky just needed to feel secure to let his personality shine. It was meant to be. I lived in San Diego at the time and took him to literally every dog park and beach when I first got him to socialize him. Every single day. Sometimes multiple parks a day. Sparky traveled all up and down California. He has played on the beaches of San Diego, ate at the best restaurants in LA, hiked Mammoth Mountain and Lake Tahoe, to exploring all the cities in his final resting place in the Bay Area. I wanted him to experience everything. Everywhere I went, he went. Even to my work. If Sparky couldn't go somewhere, I wasn't going. He thrived with me. He went from being scared of big dogs, to playing with and bossing big dogs around. His confidence grew day by day. He learned basic commands and was extremely well behaved. Great off-leash. He was so chill and calm I could take him anywhere. He loved his blueberry Greenies and destroying his squeaky toys. He could burrow himself into any blanket, even when he went blind. His mortal enemies were crows and vacuum cleaners. Everyone that met him loved him. He was a social, cuddly lovebug. If you didn't like Chihuahuas, you would after meeting him. If there was one thing bad about him it was his separation anxiety. He would bark and whine when I left him alone for too long. To the point where he once tried chewing through a door. One time I had to board him for three days at a place with webcams, and I watched him literally wait all three days by the door where I had last left. He also had a drinking problem and couldn't hold his licker. If he knew you, he would lick you to death. I loved every stage of of him. From a skittish and anxious young pup, to a confident adult, to a slow senior. He went blind around 15 years old but still kept charging ahead. He had luxating patella in both hind legs and a heart murmur his whole life but it never seemed to slow him down. I would've taken care of him forever if I could. I take some small comfort knowing he knew how much I loved him and gave him an amazing and fulfilling life. He was always priority number 1 for me. Everything I did, he did. Everything I ate, he got a little bit. If Sparky was happy, I was happy. Sparky, I miss you being my shadow. This grief I'm feeling is your love with nowhere to go. It's hard for me to accept I will never see or hold you again. I loved the person I was when I was with you. Now I have to figure out how to move on without you. My first night with you I cradled you in my arms. My last night with you, you passed the same way. I hope you were thinking of me when you went. Thank you for giving me 14 years of unconditional love. I will spend the rest of my life missing you and will never forget you. I love you Sparky. submitted by /u/ntguru5 to r/Chihuahua [link] [comments]

These are the 25 most recommended vacuum cleaners on Reddit (based on 1,821 users, in the past year) wdyt?
Was messing around with Reddit data on vacuum cleaners. Thought I’d share the results. Its part of one of my projects to tinker with Reddit data and LLMs. Wanted to create something useful for the community while levelling up my coding chops. The idea is to highlight which vacuum cleaners got the most love. To be clear, most love =/= best. But hopefully its a useful data point nonetheless, especially for those overwhelmed by info. I actually posted a version of this ~6 months ago. Unfortunately there were some issues that many of you helped to point out. I’ve since fixed a lot of those (limited to models on Amazon, erroneous model attribution, duplications). Lemme know what you think! Obviously this is a VERY general list. IMO it starts to get most interesting when you slice and dice the data. I actually have a bunch of filters on my website to play with (price, subreddits, type e.g.canisters vs stick, use case e.g. carpet, pets etc) and you can see all the comments and get a breakdown of the good / bad for each model etc. If you’re interested, you can play with it on RedditRecs (dot) com (or google “RedditRecs”). AITA for being furious that my BF used a keepsake of mine for his art without permission?
I am not The OOP, OOP is u/ItsMyDamnTooth AITA for being furious that my BF used a keepsake of mine for his art without permission? Originally posted to r/AmItheAsshole TRIGGER WARNING: Theft MOOD SPOILER: Outrageous but ends positive Original Post June 2, 2020 I've had this shark tooth ever since I was maybe 11, I found it on a beach on vacation. At the time it was just cool, because what are the chances to just walk on a random beach and find a shark tooth? In time it became an important emotional keepsake for me that reminded me of all the 'good' parts of my childhood. Honestly most of it wasn't very good, so, extra important. I just really like this stupid tooth and whenever I was upset I would just rub it in my hands and feel comforted. My BF saw it in my room early on and I told him this story and he was like hey cool. To be fair at that point I didn't go in detail, just said it's important to me. Some years went by. We don't live together yet but most of the time he comes to my place because it's larger. One day a few months back I was looking for my shark tooth and it wasn't in the two or three places it has been in. No biggie – I am honestly pretty messy and often 'lose' stuff somewhere only to find it in my sock drawer a week later or something. I kept searching, confident it would resurface because it has never left my flat. After two weeks or so I began to worry, took my vacuum cleaner apart and started panicking about maybe having dropped it in the trash SOMEHOW and that it may be gone for good. Eventually, my BF is over and notices that one of my drawers was kinda messy, because I had gone through it and searched every nook. I tell him I can't find the tooth and he was like ooh... that's a shame I'm sure you'll find it. I didn't notice any weird vibes so I guess he's got a good pokerface. One more week.... he says (over text) ok I need to tell you something, don't be mad... and sends me a picture of some art project and it has MY SHARK TOOTH IN IT. Apparently he had to do a sculpture type thing for university and it's like a viking ship that is made half out of seashells, driftwood etc with my tooth as the 'centerpiece'. And he tells me he saw the tooth in my flat when he was over and I was in the shower, so he put it in his pocket to 'ask me later' then forgot about it and when he re-discovered it at home he supposedly thought it was part of some other materials he had gotten elsewhere and just went ahead and used it. He claims he didn't remember until it was too late. So I tell him he's gonna give it back to me ASAP and he goes ummh well it might take a few months because it's in an exhibition and also he used superglue so he doesn't know if he can get it off. I was just DONE with the conversation and stared at the wall for like 30 minutes. After I had calmed down a bit I now genuinely am not sure if I am overreacting or not. Like yeah it's 'just' a tooth but he didn't ask me?? I can believe him that he doesn't remember our short conversation a few years ago about it. But who just takes something from someone's bedroom and slaps it on their artwork without saying anything? I feel like if I see him in person I'd have to struggle to not flip out. AITA for reacting so strongly? VERDICT: NOT THE ASSHOLE RELEVANT COMMENTS [deleted] Honey he’s still lying to you -he definitely lied about just forgetting to ask you. You were in the shower, not on the moon you telling me you have the kind of relationship where he can’t yell something to you in the shower or wait to ask until you get out? he purposefully waited for you to not be in the room to take the tooth -There is no way he didn’t make the connection between the tooth you were searching hectically for and the one he took. It’s not like it’s an iPhone that everyone has or a sweatshirt— its a shark tooth he is using as the centerpiece of his project. You honestly believe that Bs about forgetting where he found it? He then just lied to you all over again and let you believe YOU lost it -He waits a week A WEEK! C’mon! You think he wouldn’t connect the centerpiece of his exhibit entered art piece with the object he swiped while his girlfriend was in the shower? Unless he literally got a traumatic brain injury in the last week there is no fucking way he’d forget. I remember where I sourced EVERYTHING for my art projects when they were made of trash, you think he would honestly forget FINDING A SHARK TOOTH! That means he even debated telling you the truth for a week. Remember that, it took him a week to decide you deserved to know the truth and that you weren’t responsible for losing your prized object. Girl throw the whole boyfriend out. If he expects you to believe this bullshit just imagine the stories he will try to sell you in the future. No man who has any respect for a woman’s intelligence would attempt to sell her this shit. I am telling you for all the women 10+ years into this dating game who have fallen for shit like this— if it acts like douche and quacks like a douche, it’s a douche. NTA OOP He claims he only remembered this some time after I told him that the tooth is missing. I definitely don't believe his story I was just unsure if I maybe believe parts of it or nothing. He is forgetful so I thought it could be possible Picaboo OP it is a shark tooth and it is the center piece of this piece so it is probably the ONLY shark tooth either at all or of its size. He lied to you and he stole from you. Why would he ever take anything from your home without asking to begin with? Forgetful about the story.....maybe. Forgetful that he took it from your place, used it in his piece and didn't tell you until you were going crazy looking for it and he may get caught? Hard NOPE. OOP you right. at this point i honestly wonder why he told me at all since i didn't even know he was doing that sculpture. he could have kept quiet and i would have 100% blamed my own messy ass Small Update in the comments June 3, 2020 (Next Day) Here I will use this for a small update. I wrote an email to the university. Sadly the answer was not encouraging as they asked me for proof that I bought the tooth even though I wrote in there that I found it. So that's dumb. I will try to find out who is responsible for the arts department though and keep trying. Iforgotmypassword Can’t you screen shot your text messages where he says he took it and you can have it back? That’s proof that it doesn’t belong to him. OOP we sadly never directly refer to the tooth in the messages but it might work OOP Updated June 7, 2020 (5 days later)/Same Post UPDATE: I wasn't allowed to post an update post. So long story short, I have my tooth back (BF threw it in my mailbox in an envelope, without a card or anything, so idk if I'm supposed to take that as an apology or if he's pissed). Tooth seems unharmed. Haven't talked to BF ever since this happened and don't know what will happen with us. But, I have the tooth back, and am actually now planning to get a tattoo of it so if it ever DOES get lost I will still have it with me. Thanks for everyone assuring me I was not TA. My next-door neighbour’s cat wants to live with me and I’m not sure what to do
I am not The OOP, OOP is u/CharlieRobbieGeorge My next-door neighbour’s cat wants to live with me and I’m not sure what to do. Originally posted to r/CatAdvice Thanks to u/queenlegolas & u/Uschu for suggesting this BoRU TRIGGER WARNING: Possible animal neglect Original Post Feb 11, 2025 TLDR: My neighbour’s cat is stressed and wants to live with me, my neighbour won’t talk to me about it and I don’t know what to do. Sorry this is so long! I live alone and work from home so I’m at home a lot, my neighbours are out at work/college during the day, they consist of 4 adults, several cats and 3 dogs. My house is a bit bigger than theirs. I think this is important information as I suspect this is the reason Cat prefers it here. In the last few years Cat has been a regular visitor to my garden. There are several cats next door and they all see my garden as theirs, they’re all comfortable with me and I often go outside and pet them and give them treats – next-door know about this and I look after the cats for them when they’re away. Their cats would occasionally come into my house in the summer when doors and windows are open and in the winter I’ve taken their cats in if one of them got accidentally shut out. I had my own cat until a year ago who didn’t mind the male cats but hated the females, so the females rarely came in the house and the males were never here for very long. My cat died last year and as soon as Cat realised she could come in without fear of being chased she’s been doing everything she can to set up home here. I told my neighbour as soon as she started coming in regularly and they said they were fine with it, Cat would go home for dinner and at night and come back in the day. I spoke to my neighbour numerous times about her being here and they kept saying it was fine. Gradually Cat was spending more and more time here and getting very upset at being ‘sent home’, but when I got 2 kittens in August I thought that would put Cat off being here. It didn’t. I had to tape the cat-flap up to stop her getting in and the kittens getting out, but she’d come in through any open door or window and go and hide so I didn’t always know she was here. Eventually my kittens ripped the tape off the cat-flap and Cat broke it attacking it to get in, so I replaced it with an expensive flap with selective entry/exit so that Cat could get out if she snuck in but the kittens couldn’t. Cat was here more and more and next-door started to get upset about it. I tried to talk to them but any suggestion of having a conversation was ignored, all communication has been by text. They asked me not to let Cat in and I explained that after so long she was used to being here and would break the cat-flap trying to get in if I locked it, and I couldn’t risk the cat-flap being broken and my kittens getting out and other cats getting in (they’ve got an unneutered male next-door who sprays…) I always tried to put Cat out at meal times and at night, but she’d come back in again as soon as she could and get very stressed and try and hide. I’ve had to resort to scaring her out of her hiding spots with the vacuum cleaner to put her out at night as she picks places I can’t reach, and I have to block the cat-flap up and shut my cats in a different room at night to stop Cat breaking in. She sits outside crying when she can’t get in, she sits on the bins under my bedroom window at night crying. One night it was torrential rain and she was throwing herself at the door trying to get in, I felt horrible. My neighbour has seen for herself what Cat is like when she knows I’m trying to catch her to put her out, she came to the door when Cat ran in when I was receiving a delivery and watched me chase her round the house before she got on top of a cupboard I couldn’t reach. I’ve sent them photos of the places I’ve found her hiding and I always respond when they ask me to send Cat home. I’ve been totally upfront with them and never hidden the fact Cat is here. I’ve sent them texts explaining how stressed Cat is and how difficult it is to keep her out. I’ve tried to talk to them face-to-face but they just keep ignoring me or replying with ‘Please stop letting Cat in’. It’s not that easy, and I don’t know what to do. They keep Cat indoors for days at a time and the minute she’s let out she immediately comes to me. I was away for 2 weeks recently and Cat was constantly trying to get into my house (I’d taped the cat-flap up and put my cats in a Cattery, I’ve got cameras covering the back door). She was so happy when I came home, she must be so confused when she can’t get in and it breaks my heart having to scare her to put her out. There’s clearly a reason she doesn’t want to be at home and I wish I could have a sensible conversation with next-door about it. Cat came in wearing a tracker this morning. The collar was too tight, it’s not quick release and it looks uncomfortable. I don’t know how they think a tracker will change anything, they know Cat is here! I hate the fact Cat is stressed, I hate that I can’t do anything about it and I don’t know whether to try and talk to my neighbour again or just leave it. My neighbour hasn’t replied to any messages I’ve sent recently about other neighbourly things either which is upsetting as before this I thought we got on ok. I understand why they’re upset, I would be too if my cat left home. I’d be trying to work out why the cat wanted to be elseware though and if I couldn’t make the changes needed to keep the cat happy I hope I’d be able to do what was best for the cat. So cat people, what do I do? This has been going on for a year so I’m sure there’s plenty I’ve left out. Have any of you been in my position or in my neighbour’s position? What’s the best way of approaching this? I just want what’s best for Cat, I have no interest in stealing anyone else’s cat but if she’s happy here she’s welcome to stay. RELEVANT COMMENTS Ok-Detective-8526 It sounds like the cat is unhappy at home, and your neighbor doesn’t want to talk about it. You could try one last time to have a calm conversation, explaining that the cat is very stressed and keeps breaking in. Maybe tryberitinf a letter or email? If they still refuse to listen, you may need to set firm boundaries—letting them know you can’t keep forcing the cat out if she keeps coming back. If the cat is being neglected or mistreated, you could also contact a local animal welfare group for advice. I hope this can help you a bit! Best of luck ❤️. I would also keep a record of the cats movement just in case you need in in the future OOP The cat isn’t being mistreated or neglected. I don’t know if she’s up to date with vaccinations or flea/worm treatments and I’ve had to loosen too-tight collars a couple of times but I don’t doubt they care about her. They’ve got so many animals and I don’t think they realise how stressed the cat is - or maybe they don’t want to know. I’ll keep letting Cat do what she wants and see if they say anything, when Cat is left to her own devices she’s asleep here most of the time and going out for a bit every so often. I don’t think they have any idea how stressful it is constantly trying to chase her out or the changes I’ve had to make to accommodate her. Thanks for the reply. Update 1 Feb 14, 2025 My post didn’t get many replies but thank you to those that offered advice. I don’t know whether one of my neighbours saw my previous post but I got a long text from one of them yesterday asking to come to an amicable solution about Cat. I was so relieved! I thanked him for reaching out and sent a long text back explaining how persistent Cat is and how difficult it is keeping her out and how I’ve tried so many times to talk to them but been ignored. His response was not what I expected. He said there was nothing to be said, it’s entirely on me to stop her. He won’t entertain the idea that Cat might not like the latest dog whilst also telling me she doesn’t get on with one of their other cats very well now which is apparently my fault. Since he asked how persistent she is to get in I went back through some data and worked out she’d tried to get in to my house no less than 61 times over an 11 day period when I was away recently. I told him if this is how persistent she is when I’m not here and the cat-flap is blocked up with cardboard so she can’t see through, imagine how bad it is when I’m home and she can see me. Then add in the battering the cat-flap takes when she’s trying to get in and my cats are attacking it back and maybe he’ll begin to understand why this is so difficult. He didn’t reply and blocked me, so I guess there won’t be an amicable resolution 🤷🏻‍♀️. TLDR: My neighbour contacted me asking for an amicable solution and proof of how persistent Cat is. When I told him he blocked me. Update 2 Apr 10, 2025 Brief recap: my neighbour's cat has moved in with me and they're being arsey about it. This is also in the UK. Following Mr Nextdoor blocking me I stopped trying to chase Cat out and let her come and go as she pleased. It took a couple of weeks but she calmed down, became more affectionate and overall seemed a much happier cat. She still hides when she knows I'm going to bed as previously I'd do whatever I could to make sure she wasn't in my house overnight, but I let her do what she wants now. Things were quiet for a few weeks and I then got a message from Mrs Nextdoor asking about Cat as she hadn't seen her. I confirmed she was in my garden and that she comes and goes as she pleases and I was upset at the tension it was causing. There was some polite back-and-forth with Mrs saying there was no tension and that was it. I got another text from Mrs Nextdoor a week later asking if Cat was here, I replied and that was that until last week. Mrs Nextdoor texts me again asking me to stop letting Cat in to my house. I'm really frustrated by now and tell her I'm not repeating myself again. That I've even spoken to my vet to see if there's anything I can do and Cat is happy doing her thing and surely that's what's important. To try and keep a long story a bit shorter, she ended up asking if I wanted to take ownership of Cat. I said I didn't 'want' to, but if that's what they want and Cat is happy here then yes, I'll take ownership of her. Mrs Nextdoor asked me to return Cat's collar which had an Airtag and dongle for their catflap on it and said she'd let her vet know and get the microchip details transferred. So I put the collar back through their letterbox as requested and booked Cat in with my vet for vaccinations and flea/worm treatment. I took Cat to my vet, explained the situation and they called the previous vet for her medical records. Despite Nextdoor agreeing to give me ownership they've forbidden their vet from releasing Cat's records and have told the microchip company they don't consent to the details being transferred to me 🤦🏻‍♀️. I've text Mrs asking what's going on and not had a reply. I have all the messages from her confirming the transfer of ownership to me, her asking for the collar back and saying she'll let her vet and the microchip company know. Cat can't get in through their cat flap now without the dongle and she's wearing a collar I've provided along with one of my AirTags. She's been registered at my vet, had her first vaccination, flea and worm treatment and I've set up medical insurance. I also paid the £12 transfer fee to get the chip changed and then this happens. My vet says based on the messages I have from next-door that as far as they're concerned Cat is mine and I have authorisation to get treatment for her but I'm worried about the situation with the microchip. If Nextdoor refuse to cooperate and continue to ignore me what do I do? I really hoped this was going to be a final happy update but I can't relax until this is resolved. I feel awkward enough about it all without having this uncertainty hanging over me. Does anyone here work for a microchip company in the UK and can advise me on what to do? final update, I have a new cat :-) Apr 17, 2025 I won't go into all the details but finally after a bit of back-and-forth the neighbours asked me if I wanted to take ownership of the cat. I don't know whether she thought she was calling my bluff and I'd say no but I said if that's what she wanted and it was in the best interests of the cat then of course I would. Things remained civil for a bit after that but they kept declining my request to transfer the microchip details. I messaged Mrs Next door a couple of times and despite her saying she didn't want to fall out over this she turned nasty. She did eventually agree to transfer the chip before blocking me, so I now officially have a new cat and next door neighbours who hate me. I don't feel good about falling out with my neighbours and I'm sure they're telling anyone who'll listen how I stole their cat. The cat is happy and settled now though and that's all that matters. TLDR: I've got a new cat Cat Tax RELEVANT COMMENTS fourangers Congrats on your new cat! What's her name? I read your previous posts, I hope she's getting along with your other kitties! OOP She's Pixie. I can't remember if I said in my previous posts but she's the grandma of my other 2 cats! My boy annoys her at times but they generally get on fine and I see them washing each other and giving each other nose-bops 😊. ~ BoldFreeQueen Congrats on the new cat, sounds like she chose you, really. It’s unfortunate that things got tense with your neighbors, but it seems like you handled it with patience and a level head. At the end of the day, you gave the cat what she clearly wanted: a home where she feels comfortable and safe. Sometimes animals just pick their people, and it’s hard for others to accept. Hopefully things cool off with the neighbors eventually, but either way, your new feline roommate lucked out. What’s her name? And how’s she settling in? OOP She’s much calmer and more affectionate now. She’ll still occasionally hide from me when I go to bed as that’s when I used to put her out but she’s not stressed anymore. She’s playing a lot more now too, I’m so happy for her. The last few months have been hard on her. ~ abcdelicious Congratulations on your new cat! Kudos to you for remaining persistent about the cat even though you mentioned in your last update that the neighbour blocked you. OOP Mr Next Door blocked me on messenger a couple of months ago but I was still on friendly terms with Mrs. We were still mostly friendly until this week when I had to ask about the microchip again and suddenly she turned nasty. Once the chip had been transferred she unfriended me on Facebook and blocked me too 🤷🏻‍♀️ THIS IS A REPOST SUB - I AM NOT THE OOP DO NOT CONTACT THE OOP's OR COMMENT ON LINKED POSTS, REMEMBER - RULE 7 submitted by /u/Direct-Caterpillar77 to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

Devastated and spiraling. I (M35) found a condom wrapper in my wife’s (34F) car. Now what?
I am NOT the Original Poster. That is throwRA12010. He posted in r/relationship_advice and his own page. Thanks to u/docsgtpepper for the rec! Do NOT comment on Original Posts. I am not the Original Poster. This is a long post. Trigger Warning: none that I can see Mood Spoiler: yay communication! Spoiler for the end: wife is NOT cheating- that's the whole reason I chose this post Original Post: October 29, 2024 We have been together for about 10 years and married for 6. We have no kids now but we were planning to start trying pretty much now. We are both very active, going to the gym, eating healthy and are both in relatively great shape. My wife is gorgeous with a phenomenal body but I would probably consider myself maybe a 5 or 6 out of 10 on the attractiveness scale. I realize that. But we have always had a really strong relationship. We started as great friends, realized we were just right for each other, and that developed into true romantic love and devotion. The sex was always fantastic. There were never any issues there with quality or frequency. I was washing my wife’s car, as I do pretty often. In the course of cleaning the interior, I found an open empty condom wrapper under her passenger seat. We don’t use condoms since she had always been on birth control. I am driving myself insane with all the stories and scenarios running through my brain. She spends a lot of time at the gym working with weights and doing her cardio. Like, 3 hours four days a week so there are frequent times when we are apart. She has never given me a reason to suspect she has been unfaithful. I know I have to confront her but I’m scared to death of what might be the truth. She is my world and I can’t imagine starting a family with anyone else. I’m afraid I’m going to break. EDIT TO ADD: Wow. You all are amazing. I am so touched by the DMs and heartfelt responses. I had no idea I would get so many responses so quickly. I wanted to add some details to save me from having to to reply to all the common comments. My wife has never given me a reason to think she has cheated before this. She has always been loving and affectionate and we were looking forward to starting a family very soon. Some have speculated that kids coming soon may have led her to one last fling?? I dont know. Possibly. We are an open book to each other with our finances pretty much entirely tied up as one. She comes from a pretty upper middle class background her parents are very comfortable. I come from a home where my parents were fighting their own demons, and so I didnt get a lot of attention growing up. Not a criticism, it was easy to get lost in the shuffle of my parents problems. We are cordial but not super close. I am way closer to her family and I love her mom and dad and younger sister. Financially we are fine. Together we make about $150k per year. She makes $60k as a law firm assistant I make $90k as an auto technician. We own a house together that we were able to purchase with a down payment from her family. If worst comes to worst I have no interest in fighting for that money. It is theirs and they can have it back if we end up selling the house. Some have commented about the amount of time she is at the gym. We go to separate gyms. She gets off work at 4 and goes straight to the gym where she does a class, then works out with weights and the cardio on the treadmill. I was never suspicious of the time she spends there. By the time she gets home, I am already there and she jumps directly in the shower and then we make dinner together and hang out. As far as a lawyer or an investigator there’s no way I could do that in secret with the way we manage our finances, so that’s out for now. Someone explained to me how to get detailed phone records from Visible so that’s my next step. I will get the records when I have some time to myself and see if there is a number that she’s in contact with a lot that I do t recognize. I’ll try to figure out where to go from there and let you all know. Some of OOP's Comments: [editor's note- there were a lot of comments. I chose a few to demonstrate what the general vibe of the comments were that OOP was responding to.] Commenter: Have you had the car since it was new? Is it possible a mechanic used the car during a service? Did anyone ever borrow the car? Was it ever left unlocked during a vacation? OOP: The ironic thing is I am an auto mechanic by trade. I work at a medium sized independent shop and they allow us to use the facility on our own vehicles after hours. So I have done 100% of the maintenance on the car. And I wash and clean the car pretty often so there is NO way I would have missed it on a previous cleaning. Commenter: Also get tested! OOP: Good thought. Thanks. Oh man I am shaking right now. Commenter: Being at the gym for three hours a day was already probable cause to suspect cheating. Working out just doesn't take that long. Unless the gym is 45 minutes away. OOP: She goes to a class, then after weight trains by herself and then does cardio on the treadmill or stairmaster. I have been to the gym with her and I can see it can take 3 hours total. Commenter: This broke my heart to read, you sound like a really wonderful man and you don’t deserve any of this. I was cheated on, no one deserves this type of pain. So everyone is saying lawyer up! Catch her in the act! Take her down! Yes, you should do the lawyer part (which I know is so painful, realizing I needed to hire a lawyer was excruciating for me) but honestly, a personal therapist is equally as necessary and productive. I could not do what was right for me, I could not stand up for myself, I would not know how to grieve or mourn my fiancé, I could not have done anything without therapy. OOP: Thanks for the kind words. All this is so unfamiliar to me. Lawyers therapists. I do t know where to start. Commenter: Has she given you any indication that she might be cheating? Finding something like that is pretty hard to deny! OOP: No indication. We have a good relationship and still have great sex. She has always spent way to much time with her nose in her phone so maybe I’ve been oblivious. Dash cams: Ironically both our cars already do have front dash cams. I’ll look at the footage. Commenter: Is there an expiration date on the condom wrapper? How many years out of date is it? OOP: Expiration date is Nov 2025 Commenter: Breathe. You don’t have to do anything RIGHT NOW. You can talk to wife about it. Or you can take time to process it, and talk to her when YOU are feeling more stable. Don’t rush in with big emotions. It’s easier to be fooled, or to do something we regret when our emotions are high. Your future isn’t being decided TODAY. You’re gonna have a lot to work thru no matter the scenario. OOP: I definitely need some time to think about stuff. I am just so confused and my brain is all over the place right now. I’m not ready to confront her right now. Update Post 1: October 30, 2024 (Next Day) Lots of folks asked for an update. Not a whole lot to say but things are getting interesting. I am shaking as I type this. Thanks to everyone in the comments and the DMs for the empathy and well wishes. A lot of good tips and advice too. Man I would hate to piss some of you off. Some of you are vindictive. First off, I found a WRAPPER, not an actual used condom, so the suggestion of DNA testing was not useful. And thanks to u/uhidunno27 for the information about getting detailed phone records from Visible. Today at work during some break time I requested a download of the phone records but it says the request could take up to 45 days. I can’t wait that long. I also drove by her work on my lunch break. I don’t know why or what I expected but her car was there as it normally is. Lots of good advice to track her, get a VAR, look at her phone without her knowing, hire an investigator, a lawyer, etc. I can’t deal with this. I am taking the advice a lot of you had and I’m just going to confront her today when she gets home. As some of you suggested, I plan to just put the condom wrapper on the table in plain sight and watch her body language. I am so scared and nervous I am almost pissing my pants. I am really starting to expect the worst. For me, if she cheated there is zero chance we will stay married. Zero. I don’t care what excuses or reasons or whatever she has, I am 100% done. No therapy, no counseling, nothing. I can’t believe I am typing this. It makes it seem real. I can’t imagine her sucking and fucking some other guy (or guys). That’s an image I could never get out of my head for the rest of my life. As far as assets, we don’t have a lot. We have a pretty nice house that her dad helped us pay for. I’m happy to let her have it with my fair share and paying back her father. Otherwise is bullshit like 2 cars, some furniture and some decent savings that we have both contributed to so I’m willing to split 50/50. The thought of divorce is burning a pit in my gut. I’ll post again after I confront her. Either way I think this thing comes to a conclusion tonight. Mini Update (Same Post, a few hours later) Mini Update: Ok. Instead of sitting here pissing my pants, I wanted to just type few more things to keep busy. I’m sitting here trying to find any other reason to doubt her. The wrapper - it was fairly pristine. Not something stuck on a shoe or sitting in a parking lot. Dashcam - yes I’ve checked the dashcam footage. Nothing suspicious or out of the ordinary. Commutes to work, the gym and home. Maybe a stop or two for typical errands. Grocery store, cleaners. Zero suspicious activity. But she knows there is a dashcam too, so who knows. Maybe she’s just being really careful. The car - yes we bought it used 2 years ago. It is an 2018 Infiniti Q60 coupe. It had an extremely small back seat I can’t imagine sex back there but who knows what motivated people might be capable of. I clean and vacuum it at least once a month so there is zero chance it has been there the whole time. Ironically we usually wash the cars together but this time I happened to be doing it alone. Had she been there this whole thing would probably be over now. Our current state of relationship - it’s really strong as far as I know. She comes home, we share a glass of wine while we make dinner together, talk about our day, cuddle on the couch if we watch a show, we really have what anyone from the outside would be jealous. No feelings of distance, no hiding of phone, and no drop off in sex which has always been and still is great. Her gym time - with as much as she does, it is really reasonable for her to spend 2 1/2 hours at the gym. I’ve gone with her. I’ve seen her work out. It’s pretty extensive and her body shows it. I am so proud of how great she looks and how she takes such good care of herself and encourages me and cares about our health. I’ve never been suspicious about it, maybe foolishly. Yes, she comes home and showers right away but she’s typically sweaty and feels gross. She doesn’t avoid me when she walks in. She will typically come over and greet me with a kiss on the lips and then hit the shower. If she was just having sex with a side piece I think she would be more discreet. We spend almost all of our time together on the weekends. Go for a jog, date nights, happy hour with friends, dinners with family, etc. She has a lot of girlfriends from work and they sometimes go out for a girls night like once every 2 months. But again nothing suspicious. I see the credit card charges so I dont believe she is hiding anything. And her girlfriends are all awesome and I love hanging out with them and their husbands / BFs. I’m torn and getting nervous about talking to her tonight but I gotta get this over with. Some of OOP's Comments: Commenter: So sorry you are going through this. Among other things I would make sure you have a good support system and keep them in the loop. OOP: The crazy thing is that my best support system is her family. I am very close to her mom and dad and love them like my own parents. They have been so good to me from the beginning. And her younger sister (29F) and her BF are my best friends. I hate to think I could lose all that too. I come from a borderline abusive situation and I’m not at all close to my family. We are cordial at best. Commenter: Have an out prepared. Stay with a friend, rent a hotel room for the night. Just in case it gets ugly. Don’t go in blind and unprepared. OOP: Yeah. I’m not violent or aggressive or anything so there is zero chance of anything getting physical. And I wouldn’t kick her out - I still love her and want her to be safe. I would leave instead if it even comes to that. Commenter: Why tf you haven’t snooped her phone yet is beyond me. Multiple threads on here, but not even one peek at her communications. What a waste. OP is gonna just let her set the stage and never even bother to know the truth. 😔 OOP: I found the wrapper day before yesterday and haven’t had a chance to check her phone since. Not sure I want to. Commenter (downvoted): Whoooo boi!! What are you going to do if she’s innocent??? What’s she going to think of you and your relationship?? Is she going to stay with you?? OOP: If she’s innocent I can’t imagine she would feel that my suspicion was not reasonable. I may be foolish but I do t think it would impact our relationship Same Commenter (even more downvoted): I’m going to say she’s innocent. And you’re over reacting. You’ve worked yourself self up and are spiraling. Trust your relationship. OOP: On one hand I am spiraling and on the other I am feeling super guilty for doubting her. I am so confused and just want this to be over either way. Update Post 2: October 30, 2024 (10 hours later) This should be my final post on this topic. I took a lot of your advice and decided to just confront her tonight. Sorry for the length, but it was a lot. My wife came home from the gym about 6:45 like always. I was sitting at the kitchen table alone. She came over, said hi, kissed me on the lips and went off to take a shower pretty much like usual. I'm NGL, when she came over to kiss me I smelled really hard for any evidence of "man" scents. Cologne, soap, deodorant, sweat, anything. I got nothing. As she showered I sat by myself a ball of anxiety and damn near chickened out. She got out of the shower and came into the kitchen wet hair, sweats, t-shirt looking beautiful as usual. She sat down like we always do and expected to chat about our day. She could see immediately something was wrong. She asked what's up. I mean, I was shaking and so nervous like you can not believe. I asked have you lent your car to anyone recently? No. Have you had any passengers in your car the last few weeks? She thought for a second and said no. I asked has ANYONE besides you or me been in your car the last few weeks. She said "No. What the hell is going on?" I asked to see her phone. She looked at me weird, said "okaaaaaay" and just slid the phone to me across the table, no hesitation, and said "what the fuck is going on?" I didn't touch her phone. I took the condom wrapper out of my pocket and set it on the table. She looked at it but had no real visible reaction. I didn't say a word. After a few seconds she said "what the hell is that" I said its a condom wrapper. She said "it's obviously a condom wrapper. what the fuck is a condom wrapper doing on our kitchen table?" She was starting to get annoyed. She is either a really good actor or she sincerely had no idea what was happening. I told her I found it under her car seat while I was cleaning her car. She honestly looked dumbfounded. She said she had no idea how it got there. She really seemed sincere and was starting to get concerned. She asked if I thought it was hers. I said "I'm not sure, is it?" She said "you have got to be kidding me. you seriously think I'm fucking around on you? are you crazy? what the hell is wrong with you?" She took her phone and waved it at me and said "Here. please. look at my phone. call my sister (who she shares EVERYTHING with) call any of my friends. I'm not sure what you want me to say." We sat in silence very uncomfortable for a minute or two. I didn't take my eyes off her looking for any sign like a tear. I said "what would you think if the roles were reversed?" she admitted she would probably be suspicious but would give me the benefit of the doubt. she literally went through every day the past couple of weeks, where she went, who she was with, what she was doing trying to come up with any explanation. She finally remembered and after work thing that they did for a friend of hers - a baby shower kind of thing at a restaurant after work. one of the girls at her office was invited but couldn't go and so she asked my wife to please take her gifts to the party. my wife said sure. they walked down to my wife's car to put the gifts in and my wife's stuff was in the front passenger seat. As I said, the car she drives (Infiniti Q60) has a tiny back seat and access to that back seat is ridiculously difficult. As her friend was putting the gifts in, she spilled her purse all over the floor behind the passenger seat. That was the only possibility she could think of. As I sat there she insisted we call that friend immediately and she did just that. She put her friend on speaker phone. she asked her if she remembered when she spilled her purse. she answered yes. she asked if she was sure she got everything picked up off the floor. She answered "I think so. Why?" My wife then seriously asks "Do you and {BFs name} use condoms?" Her friend kind of chuckled and said "Yes?" My wife asks what brand and she answered Trojans. Same size too. My wife looked straight into my eyes and asked "When you dumped your purse in my car, is there a chance there were condoms in it?" Her friends said "Yes, its not unusual for me to have condoms in my purse. Why?" My wife told her friend about the wrapper. Her friend said she doesn't know why she would have an empty wrapper in her purse but it is certainly possible. She hung up the phone and looked at me and asked if I would like to go through her phone. I said no and she asked "mystery solved?" I literally started crying. I was crying because I was so so so fucking relieved. I was crying because I am married to the most awesome woman in the world who loves ME more than anything. And I was crying because I was racked with guilt that I thought she could be cheating. I felt miserable for how I must have made HER feel. My incredible wife took it so well. She hit me with her dish towel and said "Jesus Christ. I cannot believe you could think I would cheat on you." But she admitted again she may have felt the same in my shoes. She even laughed a little and said it was kind of cute that I was so jealous and nervous about asking her about it. We decided to have our glass of wine and go out for dinner. At dinner we talked about how excited we were to start trying for a baby. I am 100000% percent sure she is telling the truth. I know her. I know her like nobody else. I know her body language. I know her voice and how it sounds when she is stressed or hiding something. There was none of that. I hope none of you have to go through this but thanks for all the well wishes. I will probably let my wife read this thread at some point, but not while its still so fresh. Plus she'll probably rib me for going to Reddit for advice, she's not necessarily a fan. Haha. So all is good. Really REALLY good. Have a great life everyone! Some of OOP's Comments: Commenter: Phewww!!! Glad it all worked out, you both know what you have now!! OOP: She is the best. Our relationship has always been so strong now I am kicking myself for ever even thinking the worst. Commenter: Stay off Reddit dude. I've seen too many posts where the toxicity of this place ruins relationships. OOP: Haha. My wife feels the same way. I haven’t shown her these posts yet, but I will when it’s not so raw. I’m sure she’ll roll her eyes and scold me for being on Reddit. Commenter: To be blunt, I don’t think you should show your wife these posts. She’s forgiven you, this time, but you were so far removed from giving her the benefit of the doubt you were considering stalking your wife instead of just talking to her. That is unacceptable. I think you need to do a bit of self examination of why your initial reaction to something fairly mundane was so strong, and stay away from asking for advice on sites like this. OOP: You could be right. But honestly I don’t think finding a condom wrapper in your partners car is “fairly mundane”. Idk, maybe that’s just me. Commenter: It’s incredibly mundane. Could’ve been stuck to a shoe, or as is the case was dropped by a friend. So why did you immediately jump to checking her dash cam footage? Driving by her work? Mentally preparing for divorce and dividing assets? She’s forgiven you right now because she doesn’t know you did those things, and that you had so little faith in her you were considering paying for a PI. That would be a relationship ender, personally. OOP: Yeah. You make a lot of sense. My initial reaction wasn’t the best and I’m sort of embarrassed by it all now. You just can’t imagine how scrambled my brain was. Commenter: IKNEWIT! As soon as you laid out your relationship details in the previous update I had a suspicion it wasn't cheating. There are almost always SOME sort of changes, increase/decrease in affection, increase/decrease in outward confidence, schedule changes, etc. Either your wife was going to be one of the most impressive (for lack of a better word) cheaters in the world who made the biggest, dumbest oversight, or it was gonna be something else. Very glad it panned out this way. Your wife sounds cool as hell also. OOP: So true. Man I now feel kind of foolish and guilty for immediately jumping to such an extreme conclusion with literally zero reason or signs. But the mind is a funny thing. She forgave me right away. We got back from dinner last night and she called her sister and started with “you’re never going to believe what this knucklehead thought.” She’s a keeper and I’m a lucky guy. Commenter: The biggest takeaway I got from your post is that you were seriously overthinking and spiralling, and created a fake scenario in your head. Any past traumas? Abandonment issues? OOP: Wow. You are so right. I feel foolish and guilty for jumping to the most extreme conclusion immediately with zero previous signs or reasons. Trauma? I don’t know. I could probably stand some therapy. I had a pretty weird childhood. We moved a lot and never had money or nice things. My parents stayed together but didn’t have a very loving relationship. I didn’t get a lot of attention when I was a kid cause my parents always seemed to be dealing with their own problems. Not a lot of time for kids. That probably fucked me up. I do t have a great relationship with my parents today. I’d say we are cordial at best. My wife’s parents are much more like my parents than my own. I absolutely adore them and they would do anything for me. Commenter: A number of elements feel like storytelling rather than recounting after/during a time of suspected betrayal and emotional intensity. “She hit me with a dish towel and said…” reads to me like “and then everyone in the restaurant applauded”. I don’t believe it. Likewise, your detached assessment of your wife’s appearance, with little mention of other qualities, does not read like an aggrieved long-time spouse processing betrayal and evaluating possibility of divorce. I just don’t believe it. Apparently there are a ton of weirdos on here who post fictional stories and act out fictional characters. I can’t imagine why, but 🤷🏻‍♀️. OOP: Ok. Legit comments. I think the mentioning of her physical appearance gets to my insecurity about how much more attractive she is than me and I guess I’ve maybe always thought she could do better. The dish towel comment? It happened. What can I say. I was just trying to emphasize how easily this thing rolled off back after it was resolved. But thanks for reading and commenting. OOP reflects: It’s funny. Going back and rereading my posts with some distance, I can see that I am somewhat insecure. I have put her on such a pedestal, and feel like she is so much more of a catch than me. That’s not healthy and probably something I need to work on with her help. My intense fear when I consider losing her is likely tied to some subconscious t thought that I could never do better. Yet she had NEVER done ANYTHING to make me feel that way. The way she looks at me and treats me, it’s like she thinks SHE could never do better. She is so humble but I can’t believe she doesn’t know how awesome and beautiful she is. I need to have some confidence that I am worth her love. Idk. This situation has really opened my eyes. Bonus Post: November 2, 2024 (3 days later) I am a a guy that found a condom wrapper in his wife’s car. You can read the posts and updates on my profile. The condom situation had a happy ending, but my initial reaction upon finding g the wrapper was concerning to both my wife and I. We have a really solid relationship both physically and emotionally. In our 10+ years of our relationship, she has NEVER giving me any indication of anything other than 100% love, faithfulness and devotion to me. Despite this, my reaction was to immediately jumped to the worst case scenario and it really caused me to panic and spiral. You can read the panic in my posts. My wife has been so understanding and in supportive and we have talked a LOT. First off, she reiterated that if I EVER have any concerns about anything, I need to talk to her. But otherwise we talked a lot about WHY this was my initial thought. We talked about the fact that I have ALWAYS considered her just absolutely beautiful and way more attractive than me. We talked about how she constantly garners the attention of guys whenever we are out in a social situation. Movies, bars, restaurants, I constantly see the eyes of men on her. And with good reason. She is a 12 out of 10. I mean that in all seriousness. Guys are surprised when they see her and realize she is with me. I think (know) I am insecure, anxious, defensive, and lack confidence about that specific aspect of our relationship. She says I am crazy. She has eyes only for me, showers me with love, physical affection and attention when we are out. Makes it obvious she is not interested in flirting with anyone. She is unfazed and unimpressed with guys’ attention or flirty comments. She says I am wrong about my looks and she thinks no man on earth is better looking than me. So here’s the crux. Would I benefit from therapy? Single therapy or couples? Any kind of therapist I should be looking for? I am really willing to give this a try. Some of OOP's Comments: Commenter: your post made me cry because i sincerely wish my husband had shared your introspection and willingness to change. he was kinda like you, thought i was out of his league even though i sincerely thought he was sexy and handsome and i only had eyes for him, never even came close to cheating on him but i was constantly accused. i definitely think therapy would benefit you. idk if individual or couples would be better, but i wish you and your marriage the best. OOP: Thank so much for your thoughtful reply. She is my world and I just think subconsciously I feel that I somehow lucked out with her “settling” for me. I know she doesn’t feel that way, and she has told me often. She really is crazy for me. It’s just troubling I guess knowing every time we go out it that 90% of the men there would love to bang her. It’s intimidating, if that makes sense. There’s always this sense of dread that she can have any guy she wants and someday she’s going to choose someone else. OOP replies to a long comment: Thanks for this. Yes, I think I am pretty self aware and understand precisely what my insecurities are. I am just wanting some tools to help me navigate and get more confidence in myself. My wife is really helping now that she understands better. I do t think she really knew I felt until this incident, which is on me. I never really discussed it with her before. One more thought from OOP: I wonder if I have some PTSD from how I grew up. Fear of abandonment. I don’t know. You could never know today by knowing me how I grew up. I thought that part of my life was totally behind me. Who knows. Again, do NOT comment on Original Posts. Editor's note: Marked as concluded because the situation OOP originally posted about is answered. submitted by /u/LucyAriaRose to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

What's the best robot vacuum for home currently?
People usually suggest Roborock and Dreame when it comes to robot vacuums, but do you have any models in mind for the 'best of the best'? Of course, there's no 100% right answer to that question, but if you have a few considerations in mind, defining the best overall becomes much easier Let's check some Key Considerations Before Buying a Robot Vacuum Planning Your Room’s Flooring and Layout A good robot should be able to navigate your room seamlessly. You don’t want your vacuum cleaner to get lost in a house full of furniture, rooms, and other objects, do you? When they are stuck, they will be unable to complete the task properly, which negates the purpose of living a convenient life in the first place. Therefore, you need to make sure that you understand your home layout as well as the capabilities of your vacuum cleaning robot. Even the best robotic vacuum cleaners prefer large, open spaces with few to no obstacles. This way, they can complete the task more efficiently and easily. Furthermore, it can last longer since it doesn’t use a lot of resources for navigation and other tasks. If your room is smaller, consider activating the zoned cleaning feature. This way, your robot will learn which areas need to be cleaned without putting too much effort in unnecessary areas. The next feature that your robot vacuum should own is the ability to adjust suction power and brush types based on the surface. This specific requirement has to be met, especially if your home has different flooring models such as hardwood, ceramic, or carpets. With this feature, the device will avoid damaging your flooring while cleaning it more effectively. Now, the most important aspect to consider is obstacle avoidance. It is generally the most basic feature that any vacuuming robot should have. Unfortunately, not all robots can avoid obstacles, especially those made of thin and unrecognizable materials. Therefore, it is recommended to select a robotic vacuuming companion with excellent avoidance capabilities. It is even more important to find a device that comprehends exactly if it can fit under a drawer, cupboard, bed, or whatever with minimum space available. The height clearance is important as it prevents the device from getting stuck in tight space. Modern Technology The best robotic vacuum cleaners should have the most advanced technology available. If you are looking for one, think about how it navigates around the house. As a result, it needs to have excellent navigation skills using LiDAR technology for mapping and efficient cleaning. Meanwhile, the camera-based system enables the device to work in well-lit conditions. Aside from its excellent ability to map the floor, the best ones also need to be user-friendly. Cleaning will be much easier by using an app to control the robot at your fingertips. With this, you can expect the robot to schedule cleaning time, change brush motor settings, track progress, and even access cameras on it. The app for controlling the robot should also include built-in integration with the smart home systems that are used by people all over the world. The integration enables more efficient workflow that needs automation like cleaning the floor after cooking and dinner time. Automation can also be set to clean the house while you are sleeping or away from home, making sure that you wake up or come home with a clean floor. Another feature that is good to have, though not essential, is voice control. It allows you to give the instruction to the robot verbally to start working even if it is not on the schedule time. This feature is typically integrated with the smart home system because the vacuum doesn’t have a microphone to listen to the order directly. Rather, it receives and responds to a message relayed by the smart home system like Alexa or Google Home. Deep Clean Ability It is worth noting that a robotic vacuum cleaner includes a basic feature for removing dirt and dust from the floor. However, if the floor is wet, some of the basic devices don’t attempt to mop as well. As a result, it is highly recommended that you get a cleaner with mopping magic. There are basically two mop styles available in the market. The rotary mop is the preferred type because it can clean the floor faster and more effectively. Flat pads can also be used, but the robot needs to clean it up several times to get the best result. If the stain is too much, it is possible to create a smear rather than cleaning it. Pet hair is also another annoying thing because it can be difficult to remove, even with the best robotic vacuum cleaners. You definitely need a dedicated robot vacuum cleaner to do this job. Prioritize the device with strong suction and a specialized brush which can maximize the result. Battery Life You don’t want your robot to stop in the middle of the cleaning process, do you? That means you have to check before buying one if it has good battery capacity. A vacuum cleaner with docking will automatically return to the base and recharge when necessary. Once completed, they will continue cleaning. Make sure you buy one with enough capacity to clean the chosen rooms to improve the cleaning effectiveness. Price Typically, the best devices are priced in three different tiers: high-end, mid-range, and budget. A reliable robotic vacuum cleaner normally starts at $200, though it is not a guarantee that one costs more is more reliable than the others with cheaper prices. Yes, there are robot cleaners that cost you under $50, but they might not be worth a recommendation as a long-term solution. The mid-range ones could cost you between $200 and $500, while the high-end models come with the price of $500 or more. The best robotic vacuum cleaner doesn’t always have the most expensive price. You can simply find the best value device if you put in a bit of effort by browsing around, but we will go over them one by one to help you out. Maintenance Mode It is always fun to see the robot doing the work. However, you need to take care of it. That way, it will keep you company for a longer period. Furthermore, it keeps the performance always at its peak. When performing maintenance, make sure to clean the dustbin on a regular basis so that it doesn’t get overloaded. You should also clean and replace the brush when necessary. Finally, to keep your device from causing havoc, always clean the sensor and filter over the time. It is true that high-end models feature an automatic maintenance mode. However, there is nothing wrong with checking it every once in a while, making sure it is in excellent condition. Best Robotic Vacuum Cleaners Based on Specific Criteria These models are currently rising stars in the market, but feel free to suggest others if your favorite isn't on the list Samsung Jet Bot - best overall for a high-end robot vacuum, with a unique design and Large Container Roborock S8 Pro Ultra - also a great pick, also one of the best robot vacuum and mop combinations iRobot Roomba Combo j7+ - Ideal for Pets Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo T8 AIVI - best budget pick Dreame X40 Ultra Complete - best pricey model with smart features Roborock Qrevo - a budget pick for robot vacuum and mop combo Bissell SpinWave - a good solution for carpets Final advice: Make sure that your purchase is covered by a warranty. Many people are upset with the product and are stuck with it due to the refund policy. submitted by /u/bertlina to r/homeassistant [link] [comments]

Christmas gift revenge
This was about 23 years ago. My husband was lousy at giving gifts. He would get what he wanted for himself. That year, I came home to a large box wrapped up, about 10 days before Christmas and he said it was for me. He was so excited. Mind you, we have always been pretty broke, so we (or should I say I) always bought for our children and his greedy family (MIL demands). We always did without. For some reason, I wasn’t that excited about this gift. Intuition. Well Christmas Eve comes and we open gifts. He gets all excited, telling me that I am going to love this present. I open the box, to find…. A ShopVac. We had hardwood and linoleum so I always swept and mopped and had no need for it. He told me that it is wonderful because it cleans up the garage, his domain. Even picks up water. And he said it worked great cause he already tried it before wrapping it up. I was pissed!!!!! He bought it for himself. I would have been happy with a $5 necklace that turned my neck green. That night, I wouldn’t even go to bed with him. He comes into the living room where I was laying down at and told me to come to bed. I told him I wouldn’t because I couldn’t look at him. He then tells me how I was extremely selfish because gifts were to be what we as a family could use, not what we would want. I laid there all night and plotted my revenge. I had to wait for a year, but like they say, best served cold. I kept quiet and told nobody of my plan for revenge. 50 weeks later I found it. I wasn’t even looking for it, but it was staring right at me as to say here I am and it is time. It was in a huge box. I quickly purchase the gift, got some wrapping paper for it and hid it. Didn’t want any sneaky Pete’s. Christmas Eve, while he was at work, I put the present under the tree. Took two rolls of cheap wrapping paper and I put some ribbon and a bow on it. It also had a nice weight for it. We start opening gifts, and I wait a bit. Finally, his eyes light up seeing this big box and finding out it was his. He was so excited, and I told him that this is specially bought for him. He opens the box, to find a case of toilet paper. I then quoted him. Christmas was not for what we would want but what we as a family need or could use. We all wipe. He was furious. He complained to his brothers and everyone. My family and his brothers told him that he deserved the toilet paper. To this day, no husband in my family will ever by a vacuum cleaner for their wives as gifts. submitted by /u/Popular-Jaguar-3803 to r/pettyrevenge [link] [comments]

Why did my ps4 catch my apartment on fire?
I’m not sure if this is the right place for this, but I’m really hoping someone here can give me some answers. So about 2 months ago, I moved from the United States to South Korea. I know that Korean outlets are 220v as opposed to 120v in the US. But all of the plug-in items I brought with me (tv, ps4, vacuum cleaner, etc) said that they’re 220v compatible, so I didn’t bother hooking anything up with a power converter, I just used some of the generic plug adapters. Everything worked fine until this past Friday: When I got home from work, I plugged my vape in to charge and sat it on my TV stand in my bedroom. There’s 6 wall plugs by my TV stand, so one plug had the vape charging on it, one plug had my TV on it, and one plug had my ps4 on it. The other 3 plugs weren’t used. Also I’ll mention that the TV was off and my ps4 was in rest mode. I went to take a nap on my couch before meeting some friends later, but after about 30 minutes I woke up to the smoke alarm going off in my bedroom. I ran to check on it, and found my TV stand on fire. I immediately yanked all the plugs out from the wall and put out the fire with my fire extinguisher. The fire department later said that the fire was caused by the power cable for the PlayStation shorting out after the insulation was rubbed through. This makes zero sense to me though. For one, I had recently moved in and hooked the ps4 up maybe a month ago, and the cable was in good condition when I did this. The plug was right next to the ps4, so I didn’t have the cable stretched or pinched or anything. The other thing that has me suspicious is that after the fire was put out, I realized that my vape had exploded and was scattered in pieces around my room. My first thought was that it exploded from the heat of the fire, but after thinking about it more, nothing else that was sitting next to the vape was burnt. My work hat, a plastic container of gum, my keys, and my wallet were all sitting on the TV stand right by the vape, and none of them had burn marks, not even the plastic gum container had melted any. But the vape had somehow exploded. So I’m wondering, is it possible that some kind of faulty wiring in my apartment could’ve caused that outlet to output too much voltage, which caused my vape to explode and ps4 to melt and catch on fire? And if not, does anyone have any answers as to what could have caused this? I’m not very savvy with electronics so I apologize if this is a dumb question. But I’m pretty freaked out from this whole thing and scared to plug in anything in my apartment now… TLDR: my ps4 and vape were plugged in to the same wall outlet. My vape exploded and my ps4 burst into flames. What could’ve caused this? submitted by /u/Worried_Homework_771 to r/AskElectricians [link] [comments]

Today, we have an incredible tale to share with you, one that will shed light on the origins of our subreddit and the reason behind our new rule changes. So gather 'round and prepare to embark on a whimsical journey through the story of Mr. Wells. The Legend of Mr. Wells, the Vacuum Whisperer Picture this: in a small, picturesque town named Suckville, nestled deep in the heart of a state called Cleanylvania, there lived a man named Mr. Wells. Now, Mr. Wells was no ordinary citizen. He had a knack for selling vacuum cleaners like no one else in the land. With his charisma, knowledge, and passion for suction power, Mr. Wells was a force to be reckoned with in the vacuum cleaner industry. He could convince even the most skeptical customers that they absolutely needed the latest model of vacuum cleaner to keep their homes pristine. But little did he know that his life was about to take a fateful turn. The Birth of "Well, That Sucks!" One fateful day, as Mr. Wells was demonstrating a cutting-edge vacuum cleaner to a potential customer, disaster struck. The vacuum malfunctioned, spewing dust and debris all over the room. Mr. Wells, with a wry smile on his face, muttered the now-legendary phrase, "Well, that sucks!" Little did he realize that this seemingly mundane moment would change his life forever. Inspired by this comedic mishap, Mr. Wells set out on a quest to create a community where people could share their own vacuum cleaner woes and mishaps. Thus, the subreddit r/WellThatSucks was born. It became a safe haven for people to commiserate, laugh, and find solace in the shared struggles of dealing with vacuum cleaners. AITA for hiding from my MIL and pretending not to be home
Using a throwaway because I have family who read this sub. I (32F) had a baby eight weeks ago and since then my MIL has had a habit of popping by without calling first. I have anxiety at the best of times but it's a bit worse right now and when she comes over (particularly when my husband is at work and not there to mediate) I find her constant stream of advice and thinly-veiled criticism (example: looking intently at the floor while saying, "You must not have a vacuum cleaner. I'll bring one next time I'm over") to be just too much to handle. Both my husband and I have asked that she call before coming over but she brushes it off, saying that family shouldn't have to call. Last week I was having a rough day and was tired as the baby had been up in the night more than usual. I looked out the bedroom window to see my MIL walking through the front gate and I honestly wanted to cry. I'm not proud of it, but I sat on the floor of the bedroom ignoring the doorbell until she went away. I felt really bad after, because she doesn't drive and I knew it would have taken her a 20-minute bus ride to get to our house, just to have to turn around and go back. Apparently she called my husband at work to let him know that she'd tried to visit me, because he called home to see if everything was okay and I told him she must have come while I was out with the baby for a walk, because I didn't want to admit that I had hidden from his mother. That evening when he got home he noticed that the baby's stroller was in the corner with the diaper bag in it, as he'd left it the previous day, so he figured out I hadn't taken the baby for a walk after all. I admitted that I hadn't answered the door for his mom even though I was home and he said that he knows she can be difficult, but that it was still an AH move to make her spend 40 minutes on transit to not even see me or her grandchild. He brought it up a couple of times over the holidays (just to me - he didn't tell her) and now I feel like maybe I did something really awful. Edit: I know this isn't an advice sub, but regardless the comments and messages I have received have been lovely and have really helped a lot. So thank you, so much. submitted by /u/newmom_throwaway7 to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]
