Looking for fridge recommendations
We're looking to update our refrigerator with one that has NO ice maker or ice dispenser. Ideally, we'd like one in matte black, 36" wide, with French doors and a bottom freezer. Does anyone have any recommendation? Our problem is that we have lived in Europe and Asia for many years and only recently came to the USA, and everyone here has these dreadful ice makers and / or dispensers, which we absolutely HATE. Does no one in the US sell reliable refrigerators without these ridiculous devices? THANKS! submitted by /u/Complex-Ice2645 to r/Appliances [link] [comments]

Fridge shopping - reliability
It is time for a new fridge. I realize that this isn't literally a 'for life' purchase, but I highly value appliances that don't need service calls more than once or twice a decade and that can be repaired affordably without replacing a $600 motherboard. (You aren't getting my 1990's Kenmore washing machine away from me!) We want an icemaker, but we are willing to forgo the in-door dispenser to limit the moving parts that might cause problems. Bonus points for having a water filter that is not locked to name-brand replacements. Any other tips? Brands to choose or avoid? (I already have a prejudice against phone brands for major appliances. Looking at you, Samsung!) I am generally a fan of Costco. They now carry Midea brand fridges, but I don't know much about them. I am particularly interested in your thoughts there. I have included a screenshot of one option, but just as a starting point. UPDATE for anyone looking back at this in the future: I started from this guy's summary of brands and models based on surveys of both customers and repair techs. I settled on the counter-depth version of the LG LRFLS3206S french door fridge. The consensus seems to be that LG is very good as long as you get a rotary compressor and not a linear one, which are bad enough to have inspired multiple lawsuits. It has an ice maker but not dispenser, and a filtered water dispensed inside. (I personally would not have chosen that feature, and might have omitted the ice maker as well, but my husband is worried that he would take up drinking sodas again if cold filtered water wasn't extremely convenient, and the health costs associated with that habit are too great to risk.) The review also recommends a very similar Maytag MRFF4236RZ that was $100 more and too deep for our space, and a GE GNE27JYMFS that was cheaper but requires RFID chipped water filters, which I despise on principle. Fingers crossed that it proves a decent choice. submitted by /u/BroadLocksmith4932 to r/BuyItForLife [link] [comments]

Which fridge brands are the most reliable?
I know to stay away from Samsung. And the general consensus seems to be to avoid in fridge ice makers. French door style fridges also seem to have the most problems. Help me convince my husband this is a normal fridge.
It’s just the two of us and he’s allergic to eggs. Edit: this post is blowing up so I’m going to answer common questions here No I’m not trying to kill my husband. We have a little homestead/farm where we raise chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, and ostriches. He can eat baked goods or egg noodles that have egg in it, he just can’t eat a whole egg. I have a ton of eggs because all the animals are laying eggs at full strength right now. I sell the eggs fresh or freeze dry them to preserve them. These eggs are in the fridge because the dirty ones get washed and saved that way. Not pictured here is a ton of unwashed eggs outside the fridge. Ducks like to lay their eggs on the ground where they can easily get dirty. The fridge is mostly filled with duck eggs. submitted by /u/optimuschu2 to r/FridgeDetective [link] [comments]

something that looks like that. specific sizing doesn't really matter, but something with a small top freezer and a larger bottom refrigerator. something that would last, hopefully. second hand is fine. something that can be bought in or shipped to the UK. submitted by /u/maisy_elizabeth to r/BuyItForLife [link] [comments]

This is my sister's fridge. She's kept it like this for nearly twenty years.
Our dad retired from 20 years in the Navy as a cook, and after his service, he worked in restaurants as a general manager. Growing up with a dad in the food business, our fridge and freezer were always packed. As an adult, my fridge is similarly always packed. My sister, on the other hand, is the opposite. This is her fridge. I don't understand how a person lives like this. I'm curious to hear everyone's insight. Thanks in advance. submitted by /u/One_Hour_Poop to r/FridgeDetective [link] [comments]

VP from Corporate had an ice cream cake delivered to me on my day off… coworkers put it in the fridge
My company HQ is out of state and my direct boss, the VP, is traveling for work and didn’t check my PTO for my birthday. He ordered an ice cream cake delivered to my office. After finding out I was off, he called me and said he told my coworkers to save it for Monday. All day long this elderly lady pestered me with paranoia saying “well the packaging said Ice Cream but it’s in plastic. You can’t freeze plastic packaging”. At that point, I already knew it was doomed and didn’t even want to go check. Multiple times throughout the day she herself went to check, told me it was melted and put it in the freezer. She assured me “oh once it freezes you can still get a good taste of it”… It was in the warehouse as they have a freezer/fridge unit. At the end of my workday I had to clear it out for them. A few teased and laughed at me. “Why didn’t you stop by to grab it on Friday?” “Why would you keep it here if it’s ice cream”. I didn’t ask for any of this and I feel bad my boss’s efforts got wasted by idiotic coworkers. submitted by /u/DeathAndTonic to r/Wellthatsucks [link] [comments]
