Hi all The plumber moved our fridge to investigate a leak coming from the shower above. When he had finished I noticed the floor had been damaged and pointed it out. We’re not flooring experts, so we could really use some advice. We went to Floor and Decor to find something that would match the tile in the rest of our house. We brought in two tile pieces and worked with one of their color match specialists for two days, comparing a bunch of vinyl samples. Eventually, we picked one that looked like a close match based on the sample we were shown. We purchased the flooring, picked up the boxes, and gave them to our installer. When we came back after installation, we were shocked—the flooring is very multi-colored, and most of it doesn’t match the sample we were shown at all. I attached photos that show the sample in the store vs. the floor fully installed in our house. At no point were we told that this flooring had a lot of color variation. If we had known, we never would have chosen it. Now we’re stuck with a floor we really don’t like, and we’re pretty upset about it. What would you do in this situation? * Try to push for a refund or partial refund from the store? * Chalk it up as our mistake and move on? * Is this something stores are usually responsible for disclosing? Looking for our next house and 75% are instant vomitorium with this ugly gray vinyl flooring. Even worse when it’s next to natural hardwoods, or when it’s the entire house (?!??!). Please think twice before doing this. This trend is dead and you need to consider any other color. Is click vinyl the same to install as glue down? Desperately wanting to redo kitchen floor. It's that speckled, hospital floor vinyl (pictured) Have a mate's mate coming around to install new vinyl flooring for pennies. I originally said I wanted ceramic tiling but he said he doesn't know how to do that and his main experience is doing vinyl. He said I can pick whatever vinyl flooring I want and he'll do that. Not a problem, just want my horrible flooring re-done and this guy is cheap. I'm not able to message the guy as he's abroad for 3 weeks, but I need to pick up some vinyl. People who've got experience with vinyl: is it a safe bet that if he can do glue down vinyl he'll be able to do click? Feels like vinyl flooring planks are still the default for mid-range remodels, especially living rooms and kitchens. I’m curious where everyone stands right now - are you still recommending LVP across the board, or steering clients toward solid oak flooring when budget allows?
