This is my fourth pregnancy. I already have a Spectra which is nice but with active littles I'd like a wearable one as well. My friend lent me her Elvie for my third baby. I loved the Elvie; however, I must return it to her. I was looking through Aeroflow and can't decide which one. I think I've narrowed it down to the Motif aura glow and Zomee fit but am open to other suggestions. I've always been either an undersupplier or barely producing enough milk so I'm hoping to do more research and maybe with the right pump I can get a better output. Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot about the Momcozy hands-free breast pumps and I gotta ask—are these things actually legit? I’ve come across so many posts from moms using Momcozy, and a lot of them mention being able to cook or binge-watch shows while pumping. That honestly sounds like a dream. But with so many brands out there—prices ranging from like $100 to $500+—I’m trying to figure out what actually makes a difference. Is it really about the soft silicone and silent motor, or are there other features that matter more? Also, I’ve noticed a ton of moms stocking up on Momcozy nursing bras while they’re still pregnant, saying they work all through pregnancy and breastfeeding. Does that“all-in-one”promise actually hold up in terms of support and comfort? Like, will it stay in place without getting loose or saggy over time? My biggest worry is whether the pump itself can really empty you out without hurting. Since this is something I’d be using daily, the thought of not emptying properly and ending up with clogged ducts sounds terrifying… Would love to hear from anyone who’s actually used it! I already have a spectra for regular pumping through insurance but want to get a wearable one too. I’m looking to buy this week because Target is offering me 40% off and Amazon has spring deals - plus I have my 15% off Amazon registry and as of tomorrow I’ll get my 15% off Target registry, so either way I’ll be getting one like 50% off retail price. I’ve narrowed the manufacturer down to either a Momcozy or eufy but not sure which model to choose. Does anyone have any experience with one or both of these brands and which one they’d recommend? Wearables are marketed as a life changing opportunity to pump with flexibility. Pump while holding your baby! Pump while cooking dinner! Pump while driving! Pump more easily at work! Suction is hospital grade and as good as your wall pump! I wanted it to be all of these things. EP is really freaking hard. It’s 20-30 minutes of boob jail every few hours when you have a million other things to do. It sucks. The promise of wearables is incredible. They just don’t work for me and I’m giving up on trying. (I specifically have Willow Go.) No matter what - new parts, keeping it charged, checking bra fit, fixing nipple alignment - I always get 60-70% of the output and after a few clogs I just can’t stomach them anymore. I’ve only ever used it for like max 2 pumps per day but still. Frustrating. Other things I hate about them include THE PARTS oh my god the parts. They take up so much more space. So much more washing. So many more sterilizer loads. Also again, nipple alignment is harder than the clear, traditional pump flanges and I end up with damage and pinching more frequently than I like, even after months of practice. Anyway I wanted to open a discussion for things that ACTUALLY made pumping easier and more flexible for you. Here are a couple of mine: Things that actually made pumping more flexible for me: having a supportive partner who at least a few times a day when he is home I know will occupy and entertain baby while I pump - without ever having to ask. similarly, bouncy chair: I can pump while baby is safely secured, and I can read him stories or play with toys while I do so. Pumping In the car with Spectra S1. Can’t drive with this setup but golden in the passenger or back seat ⁠Actually making it past 12 weeks and being able to space out pumps more than 3 hours I’m probably missing A LOT. But thought it would be fun to hear y’all’s tips and hacks or fun products that make it easier and truly provide the same output. Edit: one more, which is spending a lot of effort to shed the emotions and pressure on myself to NOT use formula, and instead saying “if dropping to every 5 hours means 1 or 2 formula bottles a day but my life is so much easier, then I can do that.” That’s my journey and I don’t expect others to make that same decision. UPDATE: ok wow I just assumed I couldn’t drive with Spectra S1 but you all told me I could and WOW. I did it today and that is such a game changer. For U.S. moms. Most doctors will tell you to go through a medical supplier to purchase a pump. While this is okay, this is not always the only option! I wanted to get the Spectra S1Plus pump, a pretty straightforward, hospital-grade pump. I called my primary insurance and they had no limit on the allowable amount for standard pumps, and a $500 limit for wearable pumps. My secondary insurance was the same. I tried several different websites that all wanted to charge me "upgrade fees" ranging from $75-$200. I felt this was ridiculous considering the pump itself retails for only $225, and I had two forms of insurance willing to pay. So I did some digging. The upgrade fee is a completely made up fee by vendors. In some cases, if your allowable amount from your insurer is lower than the cost of the pump, you'd owe the difference. But that's AFTER it's been processed by your insurance. These companies wanted me to pay the upgrade fee to even place an order. I called my insurance and asked them if I could buy directly from a retail store and be reimbursed, to which they said yes. I bought my pump on Amazon for $225. Got my 5% back on my credit card. Submitted a claim with my prescription and receipt. Got fully reimbursed by my primary insurer. Not only was this much easier, but I saved $86+. And I have some pride knowing I didn't further line the pockets of a supplier with inflated insurance pricing🙂. I am due with my second in about 6 weeks and I had a pretty fraught feeding journey with baby #1 due to a low supply. I am looking to find a wearable pump that will work best for me, as I anticipate I will again have a low supply (my breasts really have not changed much in my pregnancy, so not expecting anything will be different this time around). I'm considering the Momcozy M9 - curious if this one is well regarded? Momcozy has so many options it's kind of dizzying. Or, would I be better off with the portable Momcozy V1 or V2? A little bit of cable/cords doesn't bother me but knowing I'll also be chasing a toddler around, I do want to have another option besides my tried and true Spectra S1. Looks like I can get the Momcozy M9 for about $90 through insurance. I previously tried an Elvie portable and did not love it - got even less than when I pumped with my Spectra, which already was not enough. Should I consider anything else? Thanks! FTM and is currently overwhelmed by the amount of baby things to purchase. Apologies for this silly question, but if we breastfeed the baby all the time, why do we need to purchase breast pumps? Secondly, I thought our body produces the content of the breast milk to fit the baby’s needs. If we pump the milk, wouldn’t that lost touch to the milk content in accordance to baby’s needs? i never thought i'd end up with multiple pumps or wanting to buy more than one. i got one for free from insurance like most people do, it's the spectra s2 which i do enjoy but hate always being stuck in one spot especially after weeks of that being my only pump. i waited almost 2 months pp before buying a wearable because i was honestly scared to spend money on one if i didn't end up producing enough to continue breastfeeding. so i bought a mom cozy s12 pro after looking into a few different ones and it seemed like a good option for the price. and i don't hate it but its a little uncomfortable and not super discreet while im at work so i started to look at other pumps again. it just feels like its kinda excessive to have 3 pumps or more if i end up not liking another one. and i just don't want to waste a bunch of money on pumps when i dont plan on having another kid either. i know i can always give them to another mom in need of a pump or try to resell them on facebook but im just curious how many wearables or even wall plug in pumps you guys have tried before finding the one or multiple you like to use? and which ones have you had the best success with? ive been looking into the mom cozy v1 pro again, the mom med brand not sure which pump yet, the eufy s1, and the baby buddha if anyone has any input on those! Hi! I am a breastfeeding mom and recently took a 3-day, 2-night solo trip without my baby. I pumped the whole time I was gone and kept the milk to travel back with. Pumping and milk storage requires a LOT of cumbersome equipment, and I am a reforming overpacker. However, I did not want to feel like I was heading out on the Oregon Trail, so when I was preparing for the trip, I searched here and r/onebag to see if anyone had advice for light packing with breast pump equipment. I didn't find any posts -- so I wanted to share what I did! Constraints and concessions: I flew Spirit and did not want to pay for a checked or carry on bag. Breast pumps do not count toward your baggage allowance, so I was able to bring a 25L personal item sized backpack (clothes, toiletries, tech) and a tote bag (breast pump stuff) without paying extra. Breast pump equipment bag: Madewell foldover transport tote Everything else: Patagonia 25L Black Hole backpack I was traveling for a concert and knew I would want/need to pump at the show, so I brought stuff to enable me to pack for THAT within a fanny pack. I stayed with a friend at my destination so had access to a fridge and sink for milk storage and pump part cleaning. Photo descriptions: Breast pumping gear. I spent a lot of time trying to really dial down into what was most needed and I feel like I did a pretty good job! Clockwise from top left: Pumpables Genie Advanced pump Maymom ("spectra") flanges and bottles Medela harmony hand pump in a ziploc bag Small jar of nipple cream/pump lube Lid that fits the pump bottles (did not use this) Wet/dry bag and two gallon ziplocs 25 milk bags Hand sanitizer wipes Travel bottle brush Fold-out mat (originally for diaper changing, used to make a clean space for pumping/cleaning parts) Dish soap and nipple brushes in a ziploc bag Dapple pump wipes Microfiber washcloth I also brought hand sanitizer but forgot to include it in this picture This was all combined into: 2) Baggu lunch box containing pump, flanges and bottles, and Baggu medium Go pouch containing everything else (except the Medela harmony pump in its ziploc, above). 3) same as #2, pouches zipped 4) Madewell foldover transport tote packed with Baggu lunch box + pump, and Baggu pouch + all accessories, and one Ceres Chill 5) The above plus Quince nursing cover and hand pump 6) Fanny pack with Medela harmony hand pump This is what I brought to the concert, along with 3 dapple wipes in a milk storage bag, hand sanitizer, chapstick, sunglasses and my phone. I pre-lubed the flange which is a move I thought was particularly genius haha. I ended up just dumping the milk I pumped at the show because I felt it was probably a little too warm for a little too long (made it back before 4h but it was more than 80 degrees outside), but I was proud I was able to make it all work in this small bag! 7) Milk storage: I traveled with two Ceres Chills and two Nalgenes. I flew to my destination with one Ceres that I used for travel day storage (added ice to outer chamber in the airport) and one empty Ceres; I filled one Nalgene with socks/underwear and put it in my backpack, and used the other Nalgene as my travel waterbottle. Once there, I emptied and cleaned both Nalgenes, and used them for pooled milk storage in my friend's fridge. I used one Ceres for storage if I was out and about during the day. For travel back, I filled one Ceres completely (took out inner chamber - Ceres guidelines say you can store pre-chilled milk for 12h like this), 3/4 filled the outer chamber of the other one and then used the remainder of the space for storage during travel (added ice to inner chamber once I was through security). Ended up traveling back with a little under 55oz, I believe. I again cleaned the Nalgenes before traveling back, and used one for water, and one for laundry (pictured). 8) Patagonia 25L Black Hole backpack (old version) containing all my clothes, toiletries, cords, etc. Laundry Nalgene is inside. Side pockets hold other Ceres Chill and other Nalgene 9) Everything fit under the Spirit seat! 10) Pumping in a Mamava pod at the airport Thoughts: Breastfeeding is a wild ride and can be quite emotional. Thanks to some advice from the r/breastfeeding sub, I spent some time before the trip emotionally preparing to not bring any of the milk I pumped home, just in case. The mantra: I am pumping to avoid mastitis and maintain my supply. Any milk that makes it home is a bonus. My baby got a mix of formula and thawed milk at home with his dad I spent a lot of time debating also bringing a wearable pump (I have Elvie Stride and Eufy S1 -- like them both ok but I don't get consistent output with them and so knew I couldn't rely on them for the full trip). I ultimately decided not to bring one in the interest of space. I had a flight delay, and while it ended up working out that I always was able to find a comfortable place to pump with sufficient privacy for me (and I had my nursing cover as backup), I did sort of regret not having the option for a wearable. I did not end up using the milk storage bags, but they were pretty small/light so I'm glad I had them just in case. If I'd needed more milk storage, I would've used the bags in the Baggu lunch box with a ziploc of ice. I pumped in an airport lactation room, a Mamava pod, several friends' living rooms/kitchens, and a large bathroom stall at the concert I wished I'd brought Lysol wipes or similar for the pumping rooms/pods I used pump wipes only for the travel home, and otherwise washed my pump parts after every use, either air drying on my friend's counter or drying with the microfiber towel. Spirit was surprisingly cool about the extra bag. I was anxious so made sure it was only breast pump equipment in there -- on the way out, when asked I told the gate agent I was traveling with a breast pump and she was like "okay!" and waved me right through. Pumps I have: baby Buddha, cimilre s7, and I have this Ellie wearable being sent from the brand for free m on the way (screenshot of that one included). Love the baby Buddha and the cimilre but I find if I use just one of them for an entire 24hrs I get sore. I like how the cimilre has a nightlight and dual motors but l have to use the pumpin pals with it. I've tried the phanpy cups with my baby Buddha and it hurts me! Thinking about the motif aura or luna, spectra, or a Momcozy. These are all free! I can get the spectra s2 free or pay $30 for the s1. I am a project manager and data scientist. I manage lots of different public health related projects. There is one project in particular that includes a really demanding team from a federal government department. I recently returned back to work from maternity leave. I work in my office three days a week; on those days, I have to pump breastmilk at regular intervals for my baby. Luckily, I have my own private office and can usually just keep on working (emails, reports, etc) while I pump. I have a hands-free, wearable pump which is convenient....but still definitely obvious if I am wearing it (it pokes out about my shirt and is not exactly silent). Recently we have a Zoom call scheduled during one of the times I needed to pump. Instead of missing the meeting, I figured I would just keep my camera off so I could wear my pump and still participate and listen. Heck, I was even IN my office and not working from home; I felt like I was being a pretty committed employee! Meeting starts, a few people have their cameras off. The Lead makes the announcement: "I just want to remind everyone that our expectation is that you will have your cameras on because this is not a virtual meeting, it is a simulated in person meeting" (....whatever that means) I sent a quick private message to explain I was paying attention, but pumping; no response to me, just instead, a, "Again, the expectation is that all cameras will be on." So fine. I turn my camera on for this meeting of about 20 people, The camera isn't aimed at my chest but certainly the top of my pump is CLEARLY visible. I unmuted myself, so you could also clearly HEAR the pump, and just said, "Thank you for your patience, I was adjusting my breast pump." The meeting continued awkwardly, with several other team managers letting me know privately it was fine to turn my camera off, but at that point, there really was no point in turning it off.
