Grains tearing apart, simulated entirely in Blender
I've been been deep in a rabbit hole building a GPU grain solver with full glue constraints. Particles bond together and break by distance, kind of like a poor man's Houdini Vellum. It works really well for sand and snow as well. Blender's simulation tools have always lagged behind, so this has been my attempt at closing the gap a little. This clip is one of my tear tests. Still a little rough around the edges but I'm pretty happy with where it's heading. Curious what people think. ------------- Edit: Wow, didn't really expect this. Thank you for the kind words! Figured it's easier to just cover the common questions here instead of answering one by one. The sim absolutely behaves like dough. I just had to make it disgusting with the shader. "Is this made in Geometry Nodes?" No, I realize the title was a bit misleading. It's an addon. The codebase for the solver is currently sitting at around 18,500 lines. You will have the option to export your sims to Geometry Nodes though. "Will it be released?" Yes, that is the plan. It's still very much in development right now. I'll try and make it as solid as I can. There are still some kinks to sort out in the meshing stage and some general polishing to do, but hopefully it will be released soon. "Render /caching times?" The Point cache and meshing info is down in the bottom of the video. It's quite small and the player kind of hides it. But the combined time for both the point cache and the alembic meshing for this particular sim is 2 hours and 53 minutes. The meshing stage often takes more time than the actual point simulation itself. The render took 1 hour and 15 minutes. Thanks again for the support and the funny comments! submitted by /u/MaxMilez to r/blender [link] [comments]

A New Open-Source Physics Engine for Blender: ZOZO's Official Contact Solver Add-on
Hello community, I'm a simulation engineer at ZOZO, Inc., the largest fashion e-commerce company in Japan. As part of my work at ZOZO, I maintain an open-source physics solver, which we call ZOZO's Contact Solver. Some of you may already know it from its feature in Two Minute Papers. Just to be clear, this is a company project, not my personal project, and I've been supported by many colleagues along the way. Today, I'm fortunate that the company allowed me to disclose our Blender add-on, and I've also been given permission to share it here, as I thought it might be of interest to the community. Without further ado, let me summarize what the catch is: * Finite Element deformable and penetration-free contacts * Strictly strain-limited cloth that does not stretch like rubber * Intended to be used for cloud-deployed GPUs, such as vast.ai or AWS. If you have a powerful NVIDIA GPU, you may run it locally. * Runs either locally or remotely on Windows and Linux, while macOS is supported via a remote solver engine * All tools are exposed via MCP, allowing an LLM to set up simulations. Everything is open source, not just the Blender add-on but also the simulator engine itself. The core technology is backed by a peer-reviewed publication, Transactions on Graphics (SIGGRAPH Asia 2024). It's under the Apache 2.0 license, so you can take this apart, pick only what you need, and embed it into commercial proprietary code, as long as you comply with the license. With coding agents these days, deciphering the codebase and adapting it to your own needs should be reasonably doable. Also, a disclaimer: this add-on is not a drop-in replacement for existing tools. It's slow and needs many UI clicks even to get a very primitive simulation running, but I provided video tutorials that cover the fundamentals. I am also aware that the add-on still has many gotchas, and while we run many automated tests, they do not cover everything; the simulator itself may stall in difficult situations. The documentation may also sound a bit LLM-spoken (we clarify how LLMs are used), but please kindly understand this is the best I can do with the limited capacity I currently have at work. Nonetheless, I think it's still usable, as shown in the demo video. Here is the link: GitHub: https://github.com/st-tech/ppf-contact-solver Blender add-on development is not my main role at the company, and I'm currently focused on another project. I'd be happy to have your feedback, because if this receives enough attention from the community, I may be given more opportunities to continue working on it in the future. I have seen that one and the one for the pressure washer. When imersain blenders first hit the US on RONCO, they would rig up a 220v line to a standard 110v outlet. It would speed up the blender. If the moter died they would just unbox another.

Bought a blender but the walls are thin.
I (M) recently bought a blender, (mostly because I can’t fathom eating another bowl of oats right now) to make smoothies. I’m not big on chewing in the morning, and could definitely do with some more fruit….. However I’m like 💯 sure the apartment next to me can hear either a vacuum or a blender when it’s on. The tenant (F) keeps to herself and I do much the same, the whole apartment block is pretty much like that. The question is would this note be appropriate? I’m a bit high on the eccentric scale. I’ve decided to do large batches and freeze them, so it’s like 45min - 1hr a week max. With the odd minute or 2 here and there in emergency. And also doing my vacuuming whilst blending. submitted by /u/TicklishRabbit to r/Apartmentliving [link] [comments]

Hey! I recreated the entire GTA 6 trailer in LEGO using Blender. Took me around 3 months, mostly solo, with a few shots from friends that I polished up.
